I am baby free. Currently sitting on sofa watching some rubbish on telly. Missing my baby girl even though she should be sleeping here too.

BigPigLittlePig · 19/08/2013 19:33

Evening all.

PR hope you got to the doctors and it went ok.

Chasing I loved living alone and being able to potter, but agree with others - it is important to know that there is someone in RL to hand, should you need them. Hopefully once you're in your new place, and going to new groups etc, you will find some fantastic but not as fantastic as us, obv friends. And yes, cats are ace, if a little, er, characterful Grin

Det lol at O the shag detector - F was like that for a looong time. Talking of shags, I had to get the morning after pill this weekend, which was highly amusing embarrassing. Middle aged, awkward-as-ass man pharmacist, who didn't once look me in the eye, apart from when he asked me when my last period was and I told him March 2012 hahahaha.

After this 9 month blip, how long are we safe for, sleep/regression wise? I could totally cope with shit nights when I was on mat leave, but need some light at the end of the hopefully not too long tunnel now I'm at work.

PetiteRaleuse · 19/08/2013 19:55

I went to the doctor. Have been given the number of a psychologist and some useful advice. Which I will put on fb later on.

Um, sleep regression pig to be honest there will always be periods when she sleeps badly, for several nights at a time, and could be put down to teething or just generally having something on her mind. I think the next one is 12 months but take that with a pinch of salt. DD1 still goes through periods of waking up during the night. Last week there were two nights where she just needed to pee, for example.

My pharmacist, the one who accused me of being pregnant, twice, had some gems for me this evening. After diligently explaining the prescription (what each pill is, how to take them, side effects etc) for the sleepers and other bits and pieces she asked for my card, processed the payment, then looked at me. I thought, oh no, don't you dare ask me if I am pregnant. And she said, you look tired, are you not sleeping? I said no, that it why I have a prescription for sleeping pills. Oh yes, of course, she said.

THEN she said oh, have you been crying, are you stressed? Yes, that would explain the xanax and the citaloprame (AD). That you just spent ten minutes telling me all about.

THEN she gave me a lecture on stomach issues. She has been renewing my stomach meds for a year now. Agh.

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2013 20:18

pr she sounds bizarre and horrendous. For heavens sake! I am glad that the appointment went well.

Can't help BP - p is not a regressor but periodically goes through a few nights at a time of troubled sleep. Like PR says I put it down to tummy ache, teething or just having a busy head. She has fallen into a reasonably predictable pattern of any disturbance lasting a few nights then a long period of good sleep. I hope you do get a long stretch of good sleep from the wee one - I cannot imagine doing your job on broken sleep.

I think a cat sounds like a great idea chasing! So does just getting chummy with anyone fairly friendly. I would find that very hard being shy but I think you have made an excellent start! Our cat was from the SSPCA and we were told she was 'semi-feral' and would never be a lap cat. When we said that we couldn't take her then as we needed in indoor cat they suddenly decided that she would be fine with that! Poor wee soul had been in there over 3 months by then and they were desperate to rehome her. Well, she coped wonderfully with being inside and showed categorically no interest in going out. She occasionally comes outside with us for a sniff about but goes in after a few minutes. The right cat will be a wonderful companion - people don't always understand just how loving cats can be. Maybe put your name down with the cat protection league and they can keep their eyes open for the right kitty!

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2013 20:26

Actually pr your pharmacist reminds me of the eedjit business manager at my practice. The morning that p was admitted to hospital we were in seeing the doc. He asked me to wait in the waiting room while he had a letter drafted for the hospital. P and I had cried for literally hours. We had had no sleep and were both quite traumatised. This stupid moose comes over to coo at P (who coos at a screaming baby anyway?) and then asks a series of inane questions phrased like "is she hungry, mum?", "Is she tired, mum?", "what's the matter with her, mum". I couldn't speak without blubbing so just sat there staring at her coochy cooing p. stupid cow. I see her in there all the time now and it still makes me rage - what the fuck did she think we were at the docs for?

Anyway. Crikey. Still gives me the rage.

BigPigLittlePig · 19/08/2013 20:33

I think Fs current blip is snot related. She sounded like Darth Vader whilst having her bottle tonight. But when they had the 4 month regression, it was so definite (and grim) that actually some mental preparation for it was helpful. It doesn't seem like anything beyond the 4 month one is quite so set in stone though.

She does keep waking herself up by reversing into the bottom of the cot and getting stuck though Hmm

PR what a nob. That is all.

I am being rock and roll and going to bed with the Saturday paper from the 27th July Grin Up to date, me.

Kyz · 19/08/2013 20:43

Evening all - e has real tears when put to bed in his new room - is this normal? Tonight is only the 3rd night so I am hoping he will just get used to it

detective you've spurred me on to give e a sandwhich for lunch tomorrow. I normally spoonfeed him most things, but have been trusting him to eat a decent amount of finger food recently. He doesn't eat as much finger food as he does when he's spoon fed, but I think that's normal. What kind of frozen veg do you get? Blush it never looks the right shape/size but to be honest I should probably get past the 'everything needs to be a chip shape'. Today MIL gave him big cubes of melon that he held with both hands. This worked quite well as he could only take bitesized bits. When I give him chip shapes of melon he rams it all in and gags lots! Silly boy. I tried him with bigger pasta shapes today (small shells, they were) and spag bol just as is. He managed ok, but wasn't keen, probably because he still has no teeth. I thought he might manage mince but think he found it hard work especially compared to mashed up mince and tiny stars! Glad the union turned up too btw! Also glad they have done some good!

jj e kept having bad nights when he first learned to crawl and although he isn't as easy to settle sometimes as he used to be, he is getting better/less tricky, so hopefully your LO will settle back down a bit too :)

Sounds like it went ok at the doctors then pr ? facepalm at the pharmacist though!!!

bp hope sleep improves soon, I can't imagine having shitty sleep and working

ooh pass that woman sounds daft! You did well not to tell her to piss off!

I had something else to say and I cannot remember what it was.... It might've been that e likes cheerios for breakfast, but then it might not have been that... I can't remember if I told you all that or not? Well, you know now anyway I guess!

Also... Am not supposed to be giving him a bowl and spoon and letting him feed himself anytime soon am i? MIL had a friend round today and I spoon fed e his lunch and then gave him some finger foods (couple of rice cakes, bread sticks with hummus on etc) and she said oh its easier to feed them when you're out isn't it, and i said well, i always spoon feed him, and she looked quite shocked that he isn't able to spoonfeed himself yet. Am I doing yet another thing something wrong? Confused

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2013 20:49

Nope kyz! To P spoons are for waving in the air then flinging to the floor.

Kyz · 19/08/2013 20:56

That's what e does pass or he turns his hand funny and noms the foodless end. If I put food on the handle end he twirls it the other way and eats the spoon bit. If food is on both ends, he throws it at me!

Lily311 · 19/08/2013 20:56

O actually uses the spoon to drum on the table. Or to throw the food on the wall. Or on the carpet. Or to drop it on the floor and throw a tantrum until I pick it up. Put it in her mouth? Nah.

Pikz · 19/08/2013 20:58

Kyz I give L a spoon and bowl to play with and he puts the spoon in his mouth and stuff but he definitely can't spoon feed himself!

ValiumQueen · 19/08/2013 21:08

Far too early to be feeding themselves with a spoon Grin

J won the 'big girl's blouse' award today. We went into town and were just queuing in the charity shop when an old fella in front of us let off the biggest trump. The young man who was with him turned around and glared accusingly at J, and he just dissolved into tears. Proper wet ones running down his cheeks. Oops. Two shops later he was still yowling and would not be comforted so I gave up and went home. He fell asleep as soon as he was in the car, but was still sobbing intermittently. Poor wee lamb Grin

ValiumQueen · 19/08/2013 21:09

I have an app on my phone called 'no more socks'. I am very pleased Grin

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2013 21:11

What does it do? Does it match socks virtually?

Poor J! Sensitive wee soul

Passmethecrisps · 19/08/2013 21:21

I found it! Great idea.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 19/08/2013 21:39

Thanks det all is going well, the lorry with our stuff arrived this morning and sour life has moved from being stacked in a garage in Bracknell to being stacked in a garage in Annalong.

The kitchen people were in today putting the remaining handles on etc and the stairs man was putting the spindles on the stairs. On Thursday the work surfaces go in, Friday we get the broadband, Monday all my white black goods arrive and the carpets upstairs and stairs get done. Our downstairs flooring won't be done till October as the concrete floors need to dry out.

Tomorrow we are off to get some bathroom mirrors, look at dining room tables and some beds and possibly some tiles for the boxing in in the
bathrooms. (Has anyone heard of Stick and go tiles? I am dubious and want real tiles, DH is motoring these. Hmm )

Hectic isn't the word.

My new routine however is tea at 16:30 ish followed by walk on beach. Two very sleepy boys, was lovely, I will keep that going as long as it is light enough.

Yep kyz no fear, spoons are for banging and chucking on floor.

For all you insomniac s, try pacing round an Irish Ferries slow boat for 4 hours followed by a normal day of mummydom and smiling sweetly at ILs, bit of excitement thrown in and half a bottle of wine! I keep dropping off today as well.

PurplePidjin · 19/08/2013 21:40

Tickets all booked for the ferry and Blackgang Chine tomorrow, we're off to surprise MIL and the dn's :o my house smells of blackberry and apple cake as it's MILs birthday!

ValiumQueen · 19/08/2013 21:49

I guessed you would appreciate that Pass Grin

ChasingDaisy · 19/08/2013 21:52

Another day survived. Just. Just the rest to go then.

Goodnight all.

ValiumQueen · 19/08/2013 21:59

Well done Chasing (((hug))) everyone fed, nobody dead is the way to go at the moment. Anything else is a bonus, and it will get better x

I left all three nippers with Daddy this afternoon for a quick trip to the shop, and to collect a bundle of boys clothes from FB local page. 12 tops and a pair of snow boots for £5. They smell strongly of a fabric softener but could be worse Grin I also picked up a pair of start rite shoes for DD2 for £2 from the charity shop. I nearly got a walker for J, a push along thingy, but it was massive! I love a bargain.

Elizadoesdolittle · 19/08/2013 21:59

Ahhhh just wrote a long post and lost it all. Bloody phone!

To summarise, I am currently sat in a dark corner in a pokey travelodge room waiting for Amelia to go to sleep. E is sparko thankgoodness. God knows when the other one will go to sleep though.

stunt thanks for posting about the spilly spoon, I'll defo get one. Yes pr she has done brown bloody vomit before. Drs were particularly rubbish at knowing the cause but after consulting dr google it seems its a reflux thing. No vomit today thank goodness. And back to no bottle but at least she's keeping down what she ate so I would rather it was that way round.

chasing how about a house rabbit? My friend has one. They are ace.

kyz maybe as E is big for his age she forgot how young he is if you know what I mean. I would super impressed if a 9 month old could spoon feed themselves.

pr glad the dreaded dr appt is over. The pharmasist sounds bonkers.

I had typed loads more but it's taking forever on this stupid bloody phone so I bid you all goodnight and ill lurk for a bit.

Kyz · 19/08/2013 22:26

Thanks guys, I didn't think he should be able to yet, eliza perhaps you're right, I'm sure mil would've told her his age but she never asked me and might've forgotten, he is quite big so that would make sense!

Aww vq bless j! And some good bargains there!

I bet you are fucked, sophia!!! Royally knackered!

Hope you have a good time pp!!

chasing you survived it, indeed, tomorrow might be a better one, and everybody fed nobody dead works well if not. Hugs x

Hope she goes to sleep soon eliza!

I am going to try to sleep now. Tonight is my first night alone since e was born. Dp works nights and e went into his own room Saturday night, and dp doesn't do sat or sun. So last night and sat night it was me and dp in here, e in his new bedroom. Tonight e Is in his own room, I am in my room and it is very strange. I feel quite sad about it, but I don't want to be insensitive to people who are on their own, I am sure ill not think twice about it after a bit of time, just need to get used to it.

ValiumQueen · 19/08/2013 22:27

My mum was conceived under a bush at the end of her grandparents' garden whilst her dad was on a day's leave from the army. I probably should not know that either.
