Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Ew, lor that does sound quite horrid. Pooing !? Good Lord.

I think bottle feeding is even more work than breastfeeding (but in the beginning, it is hard. It hurts, it's a learning curve that's for sure). I just think of when I'm going out and I already feel like I've got enough things to think about taking with me, then to add bottles, formula and hot water if you are going to be somewhere where you can't get any... no thanks!

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 03:21

No, I'm sorry I have to totally disagree. I'm on the bottle feeding is way easier fence. You can whip a bottle out without any awkward glares, you can wear what you want every day, you can wear wired bras, you can go on a diet, you can sleep more comfortably on your side, you can drink, you can leave the house on your own for more than 3 hours, you can eat whatever you like, you avoid the risk of mastitis...and so the list goes on. Of coarse I'd never give bfeeding up because it's my favourite thing in the world knowing how happy I make my son everyday but in my eyes it's not the easy option Wink

bringonthetrumpets · 06/10/2013 04:01

We shall have to agree to disagree :) After switching to bottle/formula feeding Ds1 at 7 months old compared to long-term bfeeding with my other two, it felt much, much easier for us. Oh, did I mention that it's like a bajillion times cheaper than formula?

kittykatsforever · 06/10/2013 06:17

Hmmm I think I'm on the fence, I do agree with what pear says and I do hate the clothes thing and them being so reliant on you although I'm luckier that I could leave for longer as kitten will have a bottle and I've lots in the freezer plus I've never had any ailments but it definatly is a labour of love, on the otherhand bring is right too, remembering everything and cleaning is a chore.... I think I like it when they are weened and have just 2 aday, the best of both worlds where you just get the morning and evening snuggle. It doesn't dictate where you go or what you wear but pear you will probably miss it terribly if/when you decide to stop!

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 07:51

Hah hah bring...I'll agree to disagree no problem Grin

Kitty ~ I shall have a good cry at the end of my bfeeding journey. I will miss it terribly like you say Hmm I hope by then I get lots of hugs to compensate Smile

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 07:53

What I shall not miss is teething!! Urgh we had it bad last night at bedtime but luckily Mr Calpol saved us from having a stormy night!

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 08:51

Mr Calpol is useful sometimes. Grin

I'm on brings side of the fence, and that is all I shall say, except we're 4 months into it now..we've made it to 4 months, and everyone deserves a huge pat on the back for making it this far.

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 10:45

I hope I've not offended anyone with my thoughts! I know it is all very dependant on your baby anyway. I have a particularly clingy koala with bad reflux so I know I see things differently on many points! Originally my question was I was wondering which one was more tiring but I think it got lost in transaction! My bottle feeding friends appear just as tired so the answer is probably they're both the same on tiredness levels!

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 10:46

Translation not transaction :-/

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 13:03

I think it does depend entirely on the baby pear

You know I was moaning about baby group the other week, and the mums that like to come across as perfect. I ended up chatting to her (the mum that irritated me) this week, and her dd hasn't slept through in the past 14mths. And I thought its really sad that some mums feel the need to pretend all is well when they desperately need some help and advice that is practical.

bringonthetrumpets · 06/10/2013 18:20

Blame it on society! Always an illusion that we need to have it together, our kids need to have it together and we don't need nobody but ourselves to accomplish that.

kittykatsforever · 06/10/2013 18:43

Frus never mind 4 months, kittens 5 months today if we go by the old 20 wks!!!
I don't believe there's ever a perfect child/ parent if it looks that way they are good at pretending

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 19:37

I'm going on dates kitty because I've lost count of weeks that way I can pretend ds is younger than he is. Wink and babybring is 5wks younger than our two.

kittykatsforever · 06/10/2013 19:59

How feeding going fellow early weaners? Kittens loving it now, gets very stroppy if I'm not feeding her when we are eating!

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 20:09

Does kitten shout at you? Ds gets stroppy if I don't get the mush into his mouth quick enough. And shouts if he wants food. He has breakfast and supper. But he really really doesn't like food for lunch. And he's still having loads of milk. But we haven't had silly o'clock in the morning for a while.

I have to say this boy is getting big. He's definately bigger than dds at the same age.

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 20:31

Apple purée is very bitter. Is anyone else finding this? Perhaps I should be adding something else? I know Annabel does an apple and carrot recipe.

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 20:34

Weaning is going very slowly for us but that's because I'm not pushing him as at first baby pear really wasn't showing much interest. Now he really likes butternut squash but turns his nose down to banana, carrot and baby rice (not all together I should add). I've cooked apples today but the taste really bitter!

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 20:35

I should add that baby pear is teething terribly so that's not helping weaning!

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 21:11

I only know that Apple goes with banana as it stops the banana going brown.
Apple and carrot?
Apple and mango?
We've not tried apple yet. He did have a suck on my melon earlier. Hmm that sounds so wrong Blush

Ds just exploded. Gross. Nappy leake at every available point. Guess that's what happens when he saves it up for a few days.

kittykatsforever · 06/10/2013 21:26

Did you use eating apples pear? I tend to use sweet ones like royal gala but my apples I mix as an apple and pear purée or apple with a touch of cinnamon, that would sweeten it up, funnily enough I made that this morning!
Kitten was slow at first, didn't really seem to know or want it but now.... Well she's loving it and yes frus shouts if I don't get it in quick enough, she has breakfast and supper but I'm going to start lunch now as that's when she seems quite annoyed when we eat! Kitten seems to like quite a lot although the Ella's kitchen are a firm favourite, I only try to use them if I'm out and about as mine are usually frozen but she loves them! I swear dd1 was the same I don't know what's the secret drug

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 22:18

I steamed apples from our tree. I think I read somewhere that you can add baby rice or porridge to help dull the bitterness. Can you give cinnamon to babies?

peardrop2 · 06/10/2013 22:25

Just seen on the Annabel website that you can add cinnamon. I will give that a go. Hopefully it's still in date!

FrussoNeedsGin · 06/10/2013 23:32

Spices won't go out of date pear. They loose flavour a bit, but not off or anything. That's the fab thing about them, thy can be in your cupboard for years and be perfectly fine.

peardrop2 · 07/10/2013 00:03

Hmm it was dated 2012 so I threw it away. Apple and baby porridge for breakfast?

peardrop2 · 07/10/2013 00:05

Frus ~ I would believe you but a couple of years ago I got a really fancy spice rack that spins. I kept the herbs and spices for a year untouched and when I did want to use them I found creepy crawlies in nearly all of them Shock they looked like tiny maggots Hmm So now I throw all my spices/herbs that are out of date!!
