New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mrs81 · 13/09/2013 08:44

Oh curly, that sounds really tiring :( No advice I'm afraid but lots of sympathy

arlandria666 · 13/09/2013 09:09

sunny I have been dairy free since DS was 2 weeks old so if you need anything just give me a shout :)
it's odd they've only told you a week though as i was told it takes 4 weeks to leave your system? also with breastfeeding I have to take a calcium supplement from the doctors so just ask them. Also dairy free tasty treats include jammy dodgers...party rings...mint poppets....crimbles macaroons :) good luck xx

ps sadly being dairy free hasn't stopped the sick here my HV described him as a happy vomitor....I can certainly say I am not happy about the million loads of washing lol

MadameJ · 13/09/2013 13:34

Well the first sickness bug has arrived in our house since the arrival of dd2. Poor dd1 is so poorly and there is very little I can do for her. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that dd2 doesn't get it although I'm not sure I would notice as she pukes all the time anyway!!

If anyone wants to help clean puke up I would very much appreciate it!

Sunbeam18 · 13/09/2013 14:30

Curly, I really feel for you - that sounds grim. It'll pass; that's what everyone tells me about difficult phases. Take help when you can from friends and family x

curlyclaz13 · 13/09/2013 15:13

MadameJ hope the bug passes quickly.
I am knackered and eating rubbish to compensate (I know bad idea) just eating lunch of a Brownie with mascapone and a glass of coke. wins at healthy
just taken duracell baby for a walk using the proper seat instead of the carrycot. He looks so small in it !

rrreow · 13/09/2013 17:40

I'm personally of the opinion to not get your baby weighed unless you have a concern. A healthy baby will be content in themselves. I kind of feel like the obsession with baby's weight and centile lines is putting the cart before the horse and causes unnecessary stress.

I tend to avoid health professionals like the plague unless absolutely necessary. And I also love Dr Google. I'm definitely a doctor's nightmare patient Grin

Wait was I previously just blind or is the Cake icon new? This is EXCELLENT. CakeCakeCakeCake

I'm wearing the same t-shirt as DS1 today (it has a cupcake on it and he's so obsessed with cakes haha - he loves going 'CAKE!' whenever he sees my shirt or when he's pointing at his own).

Met up with a mum with a DD 1 week older than DS2. They got on so well, cooing at each other and they were holding hands! SOOO CUUUTE.

We have a street party tomorrow. The weather is looking excellent, oh wait no it isn't. Hopefully will still be fun though.

AlohaMama · 13/09/2013 18:54

totally agree rrreow on the weight thing - there seems to be a lot of needless stress caused, as if there isn't enough to worry about anyway.

I finally clocked that I needed to register with a hv, but being understaffed I'm still waiting for someone to call me back a week later.

Can anyone recommend a good cream for nappy rash. I've been alternating between boots own and boudreaux's butt paste but she is still really red with little white spots. could it be thrush? all the pics online look horrendous, nothing like hers - she is just ver red between her buttocjs with maybe 4 or so tine white pimples on each side. Obv I'd ask the hv if I had one!

Raining here- reality of leaving Hawaii is starting to hit. That and the difficulty of finding things to do with ds on a rainy morning. My 'go to' activity is normally to go for a walk...

Littlemissexpecting · 13/09/2013 20:51

Aloha I've not really had to treat nappy rash yet, I'm more preventing it. But I've just started to use weleda baby nappy cream. They use calendula and lovely stuff. I use the oil for baby massage and its great for ds's sensitive dry skin.
I've also used bepanthen cream which I know a lot of people swear by.
I'm trying to do as much nappy off time as possible (not easy with a boy) but I've found the pampers change mats great. They look like incontinence pads, so I don't have to worry about him having a wee.

curlyclaz13 · 13/09/2013 21:32

We used bepethen which did the job but found different nappies have stopped it coming back, using naty nappies now. one night in pampers left a red bum.

pinkbear82 · 13/09/2013 22:22

Little miss funny you mention nappy off time, I was doing this today with dd and was looking for something to go under her while on her play mat... She wriggles off an open nappy, a towel it still soaks through.... Blush I used a puppy pad Blush worked nicely when she did a free from gaviscon poo!

pinkapples · 13/09/2013 23:13

We're in prevention mode with nappy rash too were Iain metanium the yellow stuff works a treat :-)

Picked up her prescription for steroid cream today so hopefully that will help her skin improve

The weather is also looking crap here but I hope you have fun at the street party anyway I'm sure you will

Not getting baby weighed as I have no cause for concern and we are seeing lots of docs for her skin so if they thought she was chunky/not putting on I'm sure they'd say she's a little love

It's her 3 month birthday today Grin can't believe time is going so quick I'm living that she laughs at me now, feel like a proper mummy

pinkapples · 13/09/2013 23:14

Should be using not lain and loving not living hehe been on date night tonight with hubby while Theiah is at my mums overnight so a combination of iPhone and late night is causing havoc with my spelling

HungryHorace · 14/09/2013 06:53

12 week growth spurt has started...up every 2 hours. Pass the matchsticks!

SunnyL · 14/09/2013 07:10

I. FEEL. AMAZING!

DH was on a late shift last night and shooed me back to bed at half 3 when bubs needed feeding. Thats the first time i've slept so long in 3 months. In fact considering my pregnancy insomnia thats probably the most Ive slept in 9 months.

Feel like I should do something mega complicated today to take advantage of my super sharp brain. Instead Im walking dogs with my mum then going for a long lunch with some friends. God I love maternity leave sometimes.

pinkapples · 14/09/2013 21:38

Have just looked up a jumperoo am so buying this for Theiah for Christmas shell be 6 mths then so that should be ok right?

Littlemissexpecting · 14/09/2013 22:15

Pink I've ordered a jumperoo too! They are a very good price on amazon at the minute Wink not sure if I will keep it for Christmas though. Ds already wants to stand all the time!

pinkapples · 15/09/2013 08:15

Hehe I know what you mean littlemiss Theiah's a pickle she's so alert always wanting to be upright

How much did you pay for yours on amazon?
Hopefully ill be able to keep it for Christmas I think the key is ill have to wrap it she'll only be 6 months so will get some good use out of it

pinkapples · 15/09/2013 08:24

Oh my goodness which one did you get? There's so many

Olimoss · 15/09/2013 08:54

Joe is in his jumperoo about three times a day, up to 10-15 mins a time now. He really loves it, is starting to turn around in it and look at all the toys. We put a big fat cookbook under it so he stands/pushes off really well. He was 15 weeks last Wednesday. I understand from friends with older babies that once they start being mobile they get less interested in it.

Apparently the jumparoos are v easy to sell on eBay once you're done...

HungryHorace · 15/09/2013 10:18

I've bought a walker for DD for Christmas. I've a feeling she will be dying to be walking by then as she has a good half arsed crawl going on at the moment!

We have a jumpy thing which attaches to a doorframe which we will have a go with soon as she loves standing up.

I don't think we will buy her much / anything else for Christmas as she won't know about it. And the GPs will spoil her anyway.

curiousgeorgie · 16/09/2013 10:18

My baby hates daytime! At night she's going 11/12 hours and is dead to the world... But it leaves me with days full of crying, apparent starvation and refusal to nap anywhere but on me, and then only 5 mins at a time.

I think I'd prefer to get up in the night!

HungryHorace · 16/09/2013 10:48

That sounds very hard, Georgie. And yes, I think I prefer our DD as she is!

She was queen grump yesterday, then slept almost all afternoon / evening. Think the growth spurt is hitting.

SunnyL · 16/09/2013 11:08

Yep my little one is a pretty magical sleeper at night time (12-13 hrs) but during the daytime will only sleep in the pram if it is outside. It's keeping me fit though and the dog loves it. I've gone and bought her a lovely thick pram suit from M&S so I don't feel so bad about her sleeping in the garden.

Tell you what this dairy free diet is a complete fag. Glad it won't be forever but it's making meal planning a real headache. I had no idea I ate so much dairy!

Olimoss · 16/09/2013 11:32

Well, we are suffering our first babycold and it's not a great deal of fun ... poor Joe. Dried snotty nostrils detract somewhat from his otherwise inherent cuteness.

pinkbear82 · 16/09/2013 11:34

They hide dairy in everything, whey powder is a derivative of it too, and that's in even more (but very little in it so for cutting out is ok not to avoid more if intolerant/allergic) when I first had to stop wheat and dairy it was a nightmare..... Salad with no dressing, hello 24/7 Hmm

I was the. Queen of grumpiness yesterday, I definitely might have. Called DP a selfish prick and knobish asshole more than once. He more than deserved it, but wasn't my fine. T day.

Off to docs this avo as dd is clearly in pain and not sure why, she also has a nasty cough and after the trouble with her lungs I don't just want to pick something up with out being told its ok.
