New thread for us ladies. :-)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh god I'm worse 'hey polly wonder if daddy will take the rubbish out'. Have flat viewing tonight. Must clean up and

  • take out nappy bags
  • hide constipation relief
  • hide pile relief cream
  • brief polly to be charming to secure good price
  • brief DH to be out to secure good price
Olimoss · 11/09/2013 10:33

Sunny - I love the smiling, I just don't quite love the steaming actual mountain of paste-like excrement that accompanies it!! I once tried changing a shittty nappy whilst not wearing my glasses/lenses. BIG MISTAKE.

curlyclaz13 · 11/09/2013 12:05

I think I will have to admit defeat on the pram front and swap to the seat Oscar has about 2cm of space left. I want my tiny (sleeping) baby back ! Sad

we have sock fail here too ., there is always one in the pram when we get home and blankets kicked off unless the cover bit is on the pram. maybe a sleeping bag for the pram would be a good idea.

rrreow · 11/09/2013 14:40

Same here Sarah, we only own our house because both me and DH inherited. And even then we had a lot of trouble trying to get a mortgage (self-employed and we bought about a week after self-certification was scrapped!). I am SO glad to be paying a mortgage now rather than rent. With the prices of rent, at least in London, I'm sure loads of people could actually easily afford to pay a mortgage (our mortgage is probably about half of what this place would rent out for! Which we definitely wouldn't be able to afford) but they just can't get them, which is ridiculous.

Meeting up on a Thursday should be fine for me! Any suggestions for a venue? I guess I would maybe propose the cafe on the top floor of John Lewis in Oxford St. Plenty of room for prams and good change facilities.

Had a bit of a hellish night yesterday. Zephyr was just crying a lot and not really sleeping between 12-3am. No clue why. We co-sleep as standard so it wasn't lack of comfort, maybe teething?? But none of the signs. He's making up for it now though. Slept in the morning from about 9.30-12.30 (when I had to wake him up because we were meeting someone for lunch) and now he's dropped off again.

Bit of a fail on DH's part. I have a longstanding appointment on Wednesdays every other week which I can't take Z with me. So DH looks after him then (work from home). But he arranged a client meeting at the same time! DOH. Luckily my SiL is able to come in to help us out.

Ooh I think I'm going to get the jumperoo from the loft soon! Probably need slightly better head control yet. I think we got ours in a sale. Well worth the money I remember as DS1 really wouldn't be put down even for 5 minutes, but he'd last about 5-15 mins in the jumperoo (he was much older then though, probably 7 or 8 months) which helped stave off the insanity of the parents!

I will also be getting the 6+ month clothing as Z is growing out of the 3-6mo stuff. He's 95th centile and he looks as big as DS1 did when he was 6 months!!

pinkbear82 · 11/09/2013 16:22

I started typing a reply this morning, and between crying baby and weeing dogs (not the puppy may I add Angry) I totally forgot!

Baby girl is finally feeling happy to sit up wedged on the sofa, all day she's been attached to me, and if I've even moved a muscle that may have indicated she might be out down she s reamed for 20 mins straight. Making drinks is apparently very similar to being put down in a baby's eyes Confused however peace is winning now. Which is very good, I did have a little cry with her earlier.

Oil your night pattern with J is pretty much spot on with ours!

I love the fact sunny you have managed to team up with the dog and get dh to help out a bit. Me and DP seem to be in a web of arguments at the moment, if I even hint he hasn't helped with anything or suggest he could I get 'well I won't go out and earn money then' which winds me up and I end up saying something equally silly back. I'm ungrateful and he's unhelpful. I'm trying to accept his fails and not let them wind me up, if he would just learn to shut up we might be ok!

Sorry that was a bit ranty! Heard p!nk's true love song today and I think that sums us up. Grin

Hope all you lovely ladies have had ok days - slightly wishing I lived close to London and could join your meet up. Feels like we all know each other already.

Hawkmoth · 11/09/2013 19:28

Bobbie keeps trying to heave herself upright from lying down. Isn't this a bit early? She's so determined.

SunnyL · 11/09/2013 20:44

Ah a literal shit eating grin Oli? Our little one seems to have reduced poo action to every 2-3 days. Instead she believes that vomiting like the girl from the exorcist is a good substitute. She ALWAYS smiles after covering me in puke. In fact she often gets a fit of the giggles after getting me with a particularly good quantity of cottage cheese.

SunnyL · 12/09/2013 11:02

Has anyone had their baby weighed recently?

We got weighed today and she has dropped below the 50th percentile. She was on the 75th percentile. Apparently our HV will call us later to talk about it.

Do you think it could be all the puking? She is happy otherwise and definately doesn't seem any hungrier than other babies.

curiousgeorgie · 12/09/2013 11:23

Sunny, the same thing happened with my DD1, was 91st percentile and dropped and dropped until around the 50th and has stayed there ever since.

I was constantly explaining that I was feeding her whenever she wanted to be fed, and eventually they stopped asking.

HungryHorace · 12/09/2013 12:00

I'm avoiding getting DD weighed as she's not been eating as much recently. I think because of teething. I can't be doing with a battle / having to explain myself! She's started to eat more again today so I'll probably go next week. :-)

I suppose they just have to check it's a baby-led drop rather than a parenting issue though.

It probably is the puking, I imagine.

Mrs81 · 12/09/2013 12:41

DS was weighed this week. He was on 50th at birth, and is now just above 9th. But he has reflux so pukes a lot.

In my mind, a happy baby matters more than what he does on growth chart. GP wants him weighed every 2 wks (sigh) though. As she put it, we made an average sized baby and she'd like him to stay average.

Apart from when I saw a locum who suggested he just needed feeding more Hmm and I had a minor panic that I was accidentally starving my son (which I'm not), I'm trying not to worry about it.

Are you worried Sunny?

SunnyL · 12/09/2013 15:12

I'm a little worried now I know she's dropped. I kept mentioning to people that she wasn't as chunky as other babies but my DH is very tall and slim and really struggles to put weight on (I know he is a git) so we assumed she had inherited his body shape. Will wait and see what the HV says as she is clearly a happy bonnie baby otherwise.

Mrs81 · 12/09/2013 17:53

Sunny I hope your HV has some sensible words for you and puts your mind at rest.

Sometimes I wish the growth charts didn't need to exist (even though I appreciate why we have them). Babies surely all grow at different rates and its such a short time scale really...

curlyclaz13 · 12/09/2013 19:00

Oscar hasn't been weighed for three weeks and was on the 9th percentile but head was 75th ! last time his length was measured was at three weeks and was 50th so all out of proportion.

Littlemissexpecting · 12/09/2013 19:10

Really don't worry about the growth charts. My mw said they are at least 10 years out of date, and are based on formula fed babies.

SunnyL · 12/09/2013 19:17

Righty ho had a chat with HV who didnt think i should worry overly. Firstly DH is tall and skinny. Secondly shes just had a growth spurt. Thirdly there is a lot of reflux in DHs family. Fourthly she sleeps a long time at night. Fifthly she is v active when she is awake. So basically these are all factors that could contribute to slower growth.

Im going to go dairy free for a week and try to manage the reflux. If i'm still concerned when she gets weighed next week they can give us the gaviscon.

Quite glad Ive got a nice pragmatic HV. Feel a lot better for speaking to her.

curlyclaz13 · 12/09/2013 19:32

Glad you feel better now sunny Smile

MadameJ · 12/09/2013 19:41

Sunny it's interesting that you mention the puking whilst being seemingly happy and sleeping well as this describes my dd perfectly (in fact I started a thread recently on feeding). We haven't dropped centiles yet but I'm sure we will if the puking continues!!

Mrs81 · 12/09/2013 20:07

That's great that your HV is so pragmatic Sunny :)

I hope the dairy free thing works. Its helped here but I've also cut out soya so no way of knowing this now which is making the difference...

Steffanoid · 12/09/2013 20:23

god you have great hv's! ethan has a bit of a cold, I bought a saline spray for his nose and went to open clinic with the hvs yesterday to ask her to show me how to use it, she said oh no you must go to the doctor, came to the doctors and she was like Hmm when I said about the hv saying I needed to go the doc, grumble grumble

pinkbear82 · 12/09/2013 20:59

I can understand the worry with the weight gains, dd had a drop a few weeks ago, as the reflux was at its worst, but has since rejoined her line and everyone seems happy again. Hv never tells me how long to go between weigh ins so I'm plumping for monthly unless I'm worried.

I should be dairy and wheat free for me as slightly intolerant, but have ut it out for so long I can be naughty and have the odd thing here and there. Shamefully the odd thing has rather increased, and trying hard to get back on, or rather off it again and hope dd may benefit too.

Tip for butter of dairy free variety, vitalife is dairy free and is much much nicer than your pure's or free from spreads. If you are being slightly flexible the lactofree range is ace, and only has a really small amount of lactose in.

After 3 hours sleep last night, totally my fault, can't blame dd at all, and a busy day sorting the house and no nap Shock I am heading to bed. DP has gone back to work for a bit, hoping dd and dsds stay settled for a while.

pinkapples · 12/09/2013 21:00

Oh no am I the worst mummy Theiah hasn't been weighed since our 6 week check Confused

She's doing ok tho apart from awful skin now has steroid cream and an appointment with a dermatologist at the hospital when that comes through I've changed her milk back from the comfort to the aptimil 1 so that might help well just have to see now

curlyclaz13 · 12/09/2013 22:59

Our sleep issues are getting worse, he keeps waking almost as soon as I put him down and starts crying, if I am lucky he sleeps about 30 minutes. He will lay on the floor ok and was fine in his pram it is just the cotbed. Sad

SunnyL · 13/09/2013 07:50

Curly is that just during the day time or is that night as well? No advice here but plenty of sympathy for you.

curlyclaz13 · 13/09/2013 08:34

At night as I haven't really tried putting him in the cot during the day yet. he was fine for two weeks in it but this week has been awful, he managed two hours from 11 last night then every hour after. He has been playing in it this morning and actually woke up at 7 and didn't cry so I am sure it's not the bed as such.
