Here we go again

Sorry tugs, missed your post. I don't think anyone can understand unless they've had a rubbish sleeper; sleep deprivation over a long period is just awful. I'm sure you'll have more energy in the day to play with her which has to be a positive. Thanks

BuntyCollocks · 12/08/2013 15:16

Sympathy to everyone, especially poor wux.

I started back working today, although only from home part time. When they asked me, I gaily agreed as she was having a long nap in the morning.

Not today! Was a bit of a 'mare. However, it's done for the day, I've spotted some issues and already suggested some badly needed improvements.

I can't remember if I said, but have been told dd had reflux, which would explain the constant (and I mean constant) vomiting. We have been trailing baby gaviscon which has drastically cut down the vomit, but now she's constipated. Sigh. The best night we had recently was the night we were told it was reflux, and we put her to sleep on her tummy, no gaviscon. She slept for 7 hours.

I think maybe we'll stop gaviscon and just put her on her tummy and see how that goes.

She's currently sprawled on my bed next to me, finally sleeping. Wee minx. I adore her, but bloody hell, she needs to learn to sleep.

31 weeks past on Saturday and still no tooth in sight - where are you, teeth????

Lostbobbles · 12/08/2013 15:29

Tugs, we did hardcore cc with DD1 in the end. It was our last resort after trying all sorts of methods and within a few days 'bingo' and touch wood has slept like a dream for last 4.5yrs

DD2 is another kettle of fish I've gone soft but I try to not rush straight in and watch on monitor to see if she will settle.

Still party organising here can't wait until it's over. Also on constant mobile baby watch, she's into everything and has now discovered pulling things off of the tv unit shelves Hmm

octanegirl · 12/08/2013 19:28

Hi all! Big hugs to the sleep deprived :(

We have rollin' rollin' rollin' all over the place! He starts off on the mat but within minutes is under the table or completely the other side of the room. I need to start thinking about a playpen. Anyone got any suggestions?

AppleCrumples · 12/08/2013 19:52

Having said she doesn't like it on her front Ivy has spent all of today throwing herself onto her front as soon as i put her down Confused For someone who can't crawl (yet) she is suddenly into bloody everything. Even stole half a cake i was eating right out of my hamds and ate it before i could stop her!

octane thats so cute, if a little annoying Grin Don't know about playpens used to just chuck my dss into the travel cot but Ivy actually sleeps in that in the day.

wux i feel for you. This is all hard enough without being pregnant too! *

bunty 7 hours is good! At least you have some answers.

Loveitall · 12/08/2013 20:53

octane my ds was like that when he started to roll....he was everywhere. We have a travel cot up in living room and I put him in there if I need to leave the room for a minute as he would be across by the tv or somewhere he shouldn't...the good news is that this was short lived as he then started to figure out how he could get on his hands and knees and rock and start to commando shuffle across the floor.
Still can't leave him as he is getting quite quick at this now..but the rolling has stopped, unless he loses his balance and then shocks himself by rolling really quickly!

Pascha · 12/08/2013 21:07

We use a Babydan playpen but opened out across the room and fixed to each wall so it blocks in an area of the kitchen.

Lora1982 · 12/08/2013 23:21

Ugh. This is all I can manage to say right now.

lollipoppi · 13/08/2013 08:02

Oh no lora, hope the rest of your night wasn't as bad?

Octane yay on the rolling! I've not got a playpen but if I leave the room I put her in the jumperoo

Bunty that's great, DD is on the gaviscon it's made a huge difference

lollipoppi · 13/08/2013 08:04

Grin Apple!! Ivy has good taste!

CreepyCrawly · 13/08/2013 09:33

Hope your night got better lora

Sympathy to those without sleep.

Nancy had stopped being fed in the night now, but rolls onto her tummy which then wakes her up. Was up every couple of hours to put her right and stop her banging her head. DH has a great help like he always fucking is and when I asked him to get up with her, he very kindly pulled the duvet back to make it easier for me to get up.

I'm feeling sorry for myself so fed up, I've cried for about a week.

Sorry to be me me me. Hoping everyone had a good night.

happyhow · 13/08/2013 11:48

B's not moving around much yet so I just leave him on the floor or in his jumperoo.

Sorry for those with really bad nights. We had a marginally better one last night but I think I'm going to be a walking zombie next week when I'm back at work...

I'm going cold turkey on him today too...

Lora1982 · 13/08/2013 12:45

Creepy im with you on the dp hating. He knew I had real issues trying to get dexter asleep in cleethorpes so when I finally get home he'd made a curry but I was doing the bedtime routine and he still wasnt asleep by ten when dp was eating seconds I was knackered starving and had a horrendous headache and he wondered why I gave him the finger when he said he was going bed while I was still in baby hell. Selfish dick.

When I did get to bed at half 12 he was snoring like a drunken pig.

To make matters worse tomorrow I need to be up dressed and out with dexter and the dog to the vets by 9 fucking am

Good luck with the cold turkey

Dad bought me a cute toy storage thing from lidl, the type with boxes on shelves, love it, it will sort out the pile of toys in the corner.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 13/08/2013 18:56

creepy DS did that for a while but it lasted less then a fortnight, he soon worked out how to roll himself back. Can you put her in a sleeping bag. Some of my friends have said they keep their babies still!

Small victory tonight - got DS to fall asleep in his cot, rather than me rocking him to sleep then transferring him. He had 3 good naps today and ate well so fingers crossed for a better night.

We're looking around for a new buggy for DS. His original travel system has done well but just can't take the abuse we give it (we have 2 dogs, lots of off road walking etc) leaning towards a Phil & Teds as have had a few friends say they're good. Quite pricey but it can convert to a double. Seems strange to be factoring that in as I've been dead set against having another, but DH pointed out that outgrown clothes are being carefully packaged and stored in the loft, so I can't be that against the idea! I have been outsmarted!

Meringue33 · 13/08/2013 20:05

It was around Penrith Lolli :D

Sorry you're having a tough time of it Creepy

I'm knackered! Hate not having DP here to do the dream feed. And sharing a room with LO means I keep waking him up, fail!

Angielka · 13/08/2013 20:37

Sorry about all the rubbish sleep still going on. I don't want to jinx things and it's only been a few nights, but maybe it'll give you all hope if I say that things seem to be steadily improving here. After getting DH to settle Molly when I knew she couldn't be really hungry, she woke and re-settled herself twice yesterday before 11pm while we stared at the baby monitor then had a feed at 11 and slept until 4, another feed and up at 6.30am. Nowhere near sleeping through, but compared to the two-hourly wakeups of last week it's progress. This shitty patch can't go on forever.

happyhow · 13/08/2013 20:50

17 hours into boob strike and he still hasn't given in... He's only started getting arsey in the last 45 mins though. He's been quietly stubborn all day until now! Could be a long night. I've decided that if he hasn't given in by breakfast then I'll just need to accept he isn't going to give up the boob.

Lostbobbles · 13/08/2013 21:14

Happy - looks like you defo have a boob man Wink

Cejay8 · 13/08/2013 21:28

Cupcakes, I love my phil n ted buggy. I've used it as a single for DS and then double with cocoon and now with the second seat. I have a dog too and do a lot of walking. We picked ours up on eBay for £140 with double kit and it was honestly like new - it's now well used and abused but has been a real life line for me!

happyhow · 14/08/2013 02:03

After 22hrs of boob strike, Bailey has won...

Pascha · 14/08/2013 07:20

Poor Happy guess it'll be morning and evening feeds for Bailey then. He will be fine, not sure about you though Wink.

Daniel has 2 fangs this morning. No sign of the two t teeth inbetween them though.

OP posts:
Lora1982 · 14/08/2013 07:39

[Grin] at the fangs!

Can you deal with just a morning feed happy? Thats pretty much all dexter will do now the rest of the day its a bottle at dinner and a 30 sec boob visit s every now and then.

The genious straw drinking baby cant figure out his cups. Dp thinks he'll never get it no faith had to remind him that its a different shape to anything he's sucked so he has to do it on accident a couple of times to realise how to do it.

Dexter loves toes and will happily stick anyones in his mouth so no boob man here but a weird foot fetish one maybe

lollipoppi · 14/08/2013 09:11

Hmm Happy .. little monkey!

Pascha bet that looks so cute!

AppleCrumples · 14/08/2013 09:49

happy when i went back to work after ds2 i just used to feed morning and evening. I used to really look forward to those quiet moments at the end of the day. He only had normal food and cups of water in between although he was over 9 months.

Loving the fangs pascha

Ivy has moved to a valved sippy cup after discovering she could shower everything in sight with the free flow ones! She seems to be 'getting it' now which is good as the world is too interesting to keep stopping for a boob. She won't feed now unless really hungry.

In other news she slept 7-5 last night Shock Would have been great except she decided 5 was a good time to get up for the day Confused

happyhow · 14/08/2013 10:46

You would never have known that he hadn't had any milk for so long yesterday so I know he'll be fine at nursery without anything and I'll just need to do morning, tea time and bedtime I think. He better start sleeping through soon though - that's going to be the killer for me....

Love the description of fangs, Pascha!
