Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Loveitall · 10/08/2013 19:03

Well, last night I had a fidgety ds! But then I had a peek this morning and lo and behold...his first tooth is peeping through! Yay for his first tooth...boo for the teething! He has been mildly clinger and grumblier today so will see how he goes tonight! Am hoping for sleep as I didn't get into a proper sleep til 3 am then was up at 6.15 with him...plus a full day of decorating means one knackered mummy!

Angielka · 10/08/2013 20:28

cupcakes you're right, DH is a good man. I don't think I'd have survived this far with both DDs if it hadn't been for him.

lora that's brill with the clapping! Will start intense training tomorrow

Could have sworn I heard Molly say 'dada' yesterday when she woke up, but haven't heard anything similar since. Going mad

Wishing you all peaceful sleepy nights...

newbie6 · 10/08/2013 20:37

Hi all,

Hope those struggling with sleep get better nights soon! I'm a bit worried as my LO is 7mths tomorrow and not really on proper solids, everything needs to be puréed within an inch of its life otherwise he gags? He still can't sit up on his own but is definitely getting there but just wondering if I should be doing/trying something different?

X

Lora1982 · 10/08/2013 21:06

Newbie have you tried one of those nibbler net things? If you put a big chunk of fruit in it or banana bitch to clean but easiest for this hurdle then he'll realise he's to chew big things. Or give him half a rusk and watch like a hawk... Dexter wasn't sitting unpropped when I started giving him stuff and to be fair he rarely gets lumpy stuff yet perhaps a few times a week and when I remember I'll give him something like cooked carrot sticks or a biscuit thingy.

Ugh cupcakes dont envy your day. A trick for the dogs though, when you get back and hes a kip send your 'd'p in first to shut the dog out the back, or text him, then you have a excited dog free entrance and the child stays sleepies had to learn this the hard way myself pissin yorkie

newbie6 · 10/08/2013 21:19

Thanks Lora, have one so will try! X

AppleCrumples · 10/08/2013 21:19

newbie i would just keep offering but give it time! 7 mo is still so little maybe he just isn't ready yet. Ivy still gags with more 'solid' food (like omelette). Are you giving any finger foods? If you steam things like pieces of carrots or apples or pears etc so they are so soft they are falling apart that might be a way of introducing more texture. I wouldn't worry, one day it wilk all just 'click'

angie i coukd swear Ivy says mama when crying probably just a noise that sounds like it though!

lora wow on the clapping!

loveit yay on the tooth.

Whoever asked how Ivy has coped with all hers coning through, she has found it hard. She has a bunny snuggly that she chews all the time and when teeth are moving she stuffs it into her mouth and almost growls! On the bright side shes got 6 now and 2 more on the move so it should all be over by xmss :)

Sorry for all the bad sleepers.

Seem to be spending all my time making food, feeding, clearing up etc. No time for anything else and i'm bloody nackered!

Meringue33 · 10/08/2013 21:33

At mum & dads. Drove up on my own with LO for the first time. It's a five hour drive normally. Took 9 hours what with traffic and baby stops. Knackered!

Pascha · 10/08/2013 21:50

Been there Meringue. When DS1 was 6m we did Kent to Cumbria in what was supposed to be 6 hours with stops, it ended up being 9 hours with many many stops and screaming stroppy baby.

Didn't help that I was very vague on where the Lakes actually were, thought they were around Yorkshire way Blush

At least you're there now, hope you get an ok nights sleep.

Meringue33 · 11/08/2013 07:29

Thanks Pascha! Definitely taking train next time!

Apples I'm with you on the never ending clean ups. Did occur to me if we went out for all our meals it would be a lot less work for me... That would burn through my maternity pay pretty quick!

salt1 · 11/08/2013 07:40

Better but not brilliant nights sleep following a Philadelphia sandwich for tea. Will try it again tonight as she loved it. Am a bit concerned she does not like fruit only v ripe banana, much prefers savoury green beans are her favourite. Hope u are all well x

Loveitall · 11/08/2013 07:48

Better night here thankfully, still fidgety, but without the grumbling...hurrah!
He woke up at 6 this morning so brought him onto our bed, whereby he has fallen asleep again...would be good but I want to get up an moving and I can't!

Birdies · 11/08/2013 18:59

How can a baby sleep 10 hours one night, then be up every 2 the next?! Should I go for the calpol? She has one peg poking through but wonder if that's being a bad mother in hopes of getting more sleep?!

Hope everyone's had a nice day. lora that's great re the clapping. Think I'm going to have to start teaching her!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 11/08/2013 19:06

Been trying to get DS to sleep for an hour. He's obviously exhausted but every time I get him to doze off he wakes the second I try to put him in his cot. Am I missing something here? Should it really be this hard to get my child to sleep?

Pascha · 11/08/2013 19:59

Dan has two fangs coming through together Its not fair. The whinge has been non-stop today. He is maxed out on every medication possible. At least he's sleeping right now.

Cejay8 · 11/08/2013 20:11

Cupcakes, if S is overtired I feed her to sleep Wink she's normally so so tired by about 6pm that the final feed is often almost a dream feed. Both mine were asleep by 6.30 tonight Winelets hope it stays that way. Thankfully the most she ever wakes is once and she goes straight back to sleep after some milk Grin she's always been good though, sorry I don't have any tips for those having bad nights.... Once they start moving hopefully they'll be too tired to fight the sleep.

S has eaten a whole Hipp jar of chicken & squash for tea. I did cook up and freeze some sweet pots, carrots & broccoli so she's eating a mixture of home made, finger food and jars/pouches. I think she sleeps through more reliably after some protein for tea, but it may just be coincidence.

So far she's shown no interest in rolling but getting better at sitting, though still using bumbo. She likes to sit and watch and not keen on her front so I'm not surprised she isn't trying to roll really....

Anyone else found unworn, outgrown clothes in the babies wardrobes?! She's growing too fast! Hope everyone's had lovely weekends

CreepyCrawly · 11/08/2013 20:18

Nancy has eaten like a horse today! From not showing any interest in food, she had porridge for breakfast, some Ella's kitchen cheese & tomato puffs for lunch and a cream cheese sandwich for dinner. And a yogurt for puds.

I've given her a dummy tonight for the first time. I'm not sure if its a good idea but she's gone to sleep without me feeding her to sleep so fingers crossed.

birdies it's so frustrating isn't it?! It's like they're teasing us. I gave some calpol a few nights ago and it made no difference.

Yes loads cejay! I try and put her in anything I find (that fits!) and take a pic!

AppleCrumples · 11/08/2013 20:29

cejay Ivy isn't keen on her front anymore either so i regularly have to get up in the night to rescue her! Why does she roll onto her front if she doesn't like it?!?

No unworn clothes here. If anything she doesn't have enough which would be fine if i could keep on top of my mountain of washing Hmm

pascha poor Dan ( and you) hope they're through soon.

birdies you have my sympathy! I've been wondering the same

Hope everyone had a good day Grin

LetThereBeCupcakes · 11/08/2013 21:32

Feeding hasn't worked. He's still screaming. I would very much like to scream too but have lost my voice.

Wuxiapian · 12/08/2013 07:33

Joining the sleepless ranks.

Bubs hasn't slept through for about 4 weeks - last night being the worst - nonstop grizzling from 2am onwards.

I'm 11 weeks pregnant and just wanna cry :(

He's having just under half a weetabix in the mornings, a few tsp of fruit in the afternoons and a few tsp of dinner - ontop of five 7.5oz bottles. He has 2 bottom teeth and I can only put these terrible nights down to teething.

Sympathies to all suffering.

Tugstonia · 12/08/2013 09:05

Oh Wux that sounds v tough... pregnancy's hard enough without sleep deprivation. Lots of Brew and Flowers to you and to all the other non sleepers.

We decided on Friday night to try controlled crying. I never thought I would, I always found the idea horrible and really struggle to deal with dd crying at the best of times, but DP and I really were at the end of our tether. The sleep deprivation is affecting our relationship and DP's ability to do his job. The first night dd wailed for about an hour but then slept for 7.5 hours straight which she's NEVER done before. Second night she was asleep after about 10 mins, although woke up again at about 11.30pm, I fed her and she was straight back to sleep, awake again at 7am. Then last night she was asleep after about a minute (I think largely because she didn't nap very well during the day). Then woke up at 10.45pm, I fed her, straight back to sleep, up again 2am and wailed til 3.30am, then asleep. It's been v v hard, DP and I were both in tears ourselves on the first night and had to stop each other going in and picking her up. BUT I think she is definitely improving and learning how to go to sleep on her own, and I'm glad we've done it. Just have to see it through now... Daytime naps have been hard because she used to only nap on the move in her buggy or with me lying next to her pinning her down, but just now I put her down and she was asleep within 5 mins, on her own and with no crying, just cooing.

I was worried the experience might make her lose some of her sparkle but she still seems to be the same happy, smiley little baby which is a relief :) I know CC is not very popular on MN so please don't flame me! I was desperate.

AppleCrumples · 12/08/2013 09:16

tugs we did exactkly the same with ds1. I think its only a problem if you keep doing it wheb its not working IYSWIM.

Ivy up crying and chewing her bunny most of night, bloody teeth!

glorious · 12/08/2013 09:22

Oh wu you poor thing, I can't begin to imagine how tough that must be. Roll on the second trimester. Dp you have a scan soon?

Sympathy to cupcakes too.

We've had three nights in a row without the 530am waking for the day, it makes such a difference so fingers crossed...

happyhow · 12/08/2013 09:34

Don't worry, tugs. I've done it too although it's all gone to pot the last few days...

We were away over the weekend. Had a surprise bday party for my mum on Sat which was really good. B performed really well although he didn't go to sleep til half 9 and then he kept being disturbed by the noise. Got him back to the hotel and fed him so he was in bed by 12am. Cue the twats in the rooms next to us coming back really loudly at 2am and carrying on with slamming doors, shouting, having arguments, screaming, slamming more doors... This went on til after 4am. Ended up with B in with us as it was the only way he'd settle. He did sleep all the way back up the road though so it meant we didn't have to stop.

Now he's got a cold which is making it difficult for him to breath and therefore feed. Was up most of the night with him as he couldn't settle whilst sleeping on his back so he was mostly on me or cuddled beside me on his side. Had 90 mins in my own bed and spent the rest of the time in his room on the spare bed which we've never gotten round to moving out

Currently got an electrician in doing some bits and bobs so can't even nap whilst B is asleep on me just now and can't put him up to his bed as the guy is working in his room and just outside it.

And I've run out of milk so can't have a cup of tea or my cereal. Hmm

Loveitall · 12/08/2013 10:13

S needed a feed t 11pm last night for the first time in a week, but then slept through...much more settled after that feed....will see what he is like tonight.

Sending matchsticks to all of you with non sleepers xxx

lollipoppi · 12/08/2013 10:33

Hi all

Back from our weekend in Torquay, which was lovely, apart from the monster journey there, got stuck for 2 hours as the motorway was shut - meringue maybe we were in the same traffic jam Smile ! 4 hour journey took 7 hours!
Oh and we have 2 teeth!!!!

Lora, yay in the clapping!

Wux I really feel for you, must be tough Hmm

Tugs, it sound like its working and like apples said I think it's only a bad thing if its not working

Happy hope B is feeling better soon!
