Apple great news on the sleep! Bet you felt like a new person today! Apart from the early start Smile

Happy that's good that he is not too fussed in the daytime for milk, one less thing to worry about! DD is starting to cut down on milk too now she much prefers food, tonight she demolished an entire omelette! Shock

glorious · 14/08/2013 19:36

Gah I think my baby hates London. She was so much sleepier in Bristol.

newbie6 · 14/08/2013 21:33

Hi everyone,

Is it normal for your 7 mth old to start waking in the night again despite previously sleeping through? I know some are having problems with their wee ones sleeping at all but just wondered for those whose babies were sleeping through, 7 to 7 if at this stage they have found theirs waking more at night again? My LO goes down at 7pm but seems to lately be waking about 4 or sometimes 11pm ish?

Am thinking its maybe just a growth spurt as he's eating his 3 solid meals a day and averaging about 31oz of milk?

Any ideas?

X

AppleCrumples · 14/08/2013 22:13

newbie i think thete are lots of reasons they start waking up again at this stage. Teeth, growth spurts stuck on their ruddy stomach again , not feeding enough through the day as distracted by the pretty colours etc! Grin

That said it sounds like he is getting plenty of food, any teeth?

glorious hope shes sleeping now Flowers Wine

lolli i should feel rested except i went to bed around midnight... [idiot emoticon] Still was nice, now if i can just convince her 5 am is not time to get up :)

Ivy is trying to push up on to her knees now. Dcs are encouraging this madness. Need to start putting stairgates up again and remind everyone that lego and play doh are not baby friendly!

Oh and cute moment of the day was ds2 feeding Ivy her yogurt earlier, was really sweet!

newbie6 · 14/08/2013 22:40

Thanks apples, no sign of teeth at all so who knows! X

glorious · 14/08/2013 22:56

She -was- until I went to bed myself apples ...

Lostbobbles · 14/08/2013 22:58

Apples loving cute moment, my DD1 can really make DD2 giggle now it's so cute to watch Grin apart from the over boisterous moments which freak me the hell out. Stair gate's are back up here, she's such a liability keeps having a go at pulling herself up on anything she can reach up to.

Pacha - lol of the fangs

Proud mummy moment today DD1 swam 8 lengths during her swimming lesson and even managed to concentrate for more than two seconds. Grin

Packed up the crib and other baby items to get rid of today had a small gut wrench moment that this time they are not going in the loft and then reminded myself of child birth and 7 months of broken nights and soon came to my senses

Wish everyone a good night

Birdies · 15/08/2013 08:26

Aw apple that's really cute. And lost well done to your little DD1!

newbie the painful bit of teething is meant to happen before the teeth appear, so they could still be on their way even if you can't see anything. At 7 months that would be my guess anyway.

This is something only other mums would understand, but....X did her first solid poo this morning! I'm so proud hahaha!

Need to ask a food question though - is it bad to always give her weetabix for breakfast and fruit and yoghurt for tea, and just vary the lunch every day? Or should all 3 meals be varied each day? What does everyone else do?

Lora1982 · 15/08/2013 08:48

Had a read of jan2013 part one last night. I do believe we've all come a loooong way congratz are in order :-D

AppleCrumples · 15/08/2013 10:14

birdies ds1 had a gourmet organic different recipe from annabel karmel at least twice a day (!) Ivy has whatever is to hand at mealtimes and its frankly a bit samey. My point is both seems to work and it is stiil new to them so i doubt they are bothered!

lost we had the pulling up thing this morning. She tried to pull herself up on the fire guard then fell and bumped her cheek :(

lora i keep thinking of where i was thia time kast year and am so grateful i got through it and Ivy is so worth it

And she slept through! 7-6.30! ok so i was in a puddle of milk but it felt like xmas Grin

Pascha · 15/08/2013 10:17

I'm sewing in nametapes for DS1 this morning. I can't believe he starts preschool in september. Looking online for new winter clothes for him too and I've realised because of the difference in seasons and age that a lot of DS1's clothes are no good really for DS2 - all the 9-12 month stuff I have is summery so there goes another chunk of cash on new clothes.

Dan has half a weetabix, a couple of spoons of plain yoghurt and fruit puree for breakfast about half the time, the other half is toast/pancakes/crumpet. He tends not to have a proper lunch, maybe a bit of banana or satsuma or cucumber with a rice cake or two. Teatime he becomes a right piggy, they both have whatever we eat usually in one form or another.

Off to look at our first thread now Lora. Anything to pass the time sewing...

Lost pulling up already Shock Its all going so fast!

Birdies · 15/08/2013 12:47

lost bloomin heck I missed that, pulling herself up?! Blimey.

Thanks apple and pascha. I will carry on as I am :)

Do you worry when they shove lots of food in their mouths at once though? X is always gagging and coughing bits of food up. It makes me want to go back to purees instead of finger food.

Meringue33 · 15/08/2013 16:46

Wow Apples maybe there is light at the tunnel for us all :)

Sick on holiday. I want to go home now. At least LO is enjoying himself :)

LetThereBeCupcakes · 15/08/2013 18:06

Birdies Ds is terrible for that - he shovels it in until his mouth is so full that he can't chew. Then he spits it all out and starts again. He also hides food in his cheeks!

No real progress on sleep, although he seems to have settled into a routine of waking to feed every 3 hours. Do they just grow out of this or should I actually do something about it? I would love a full night's sleep.

Very impressed at the pulling up! We haven't quite mastered crawling yet!

Loveitall · 15/08/2013 18:42

Hi all, well, been busy last couple of days, ds has been very clingy so haven't had much time to myself. I think he is beginning to cut his second tooth, the first has popped through now, the second, I think I can see a little bump appearing. Food wise he is on 3 meals a day. Weetabix is his favoured breakfast, vary it by either having with banana or stewed fruit. Lunch and tea vary depending on what I have in. It is still puréed tho I did give him a bit of toast and cheese spread which he began to get the hang of..he was chewing but didn't eat much... By a step at a time I guess.

Can I say tho, he is now a poo machine, 4 poos today!

Angielka · 16/08/2013 10:28

Congrats apple! there is hope for us all Smile

birdies it's the worst part of BLW, but Molly seems to have got through the worst of the gagging and coughing. We get it much less often now. They have to learn some way or other - eventually they'll get it that the most efficient is not to shovel so much in they can't chew Grin.

Are many of the babies crawling? We have a lot of trying to pull up and leaning forward almost into crawling position then moaning with frustration because she still can't reach whatever she's trying to get to. One part of me wants her to crack it so she's less frustrated but I also agree with pascha it's going too fast!!

Pascha · 16/08/2013 11:08

We have rocking on hands and knees, and commando-slithering backwards on his tummy (then massive complaints when he backs himself into a corner Hmm) but no crawling or pulling up yet. He does like standing while held though, and I can let go for a few seconds if he has the sofa to hold onto.

Its cold here today.

OP posts:
Lora1982 · 16/08/2013 11:30

No crawlyness here yet either he has figured how to slowly turn round to face where he wants to go, but no forwardness. He likes standing against stuff too.

AppleCrumples · 16/08/2013 12:03

No actual crawling yet but increasingly getting onto her knees and still hurling herself at what she wants like ds1 biscuit poor boy had to leave the room in the end

Another good night, i could get used to this! Hopefully there is hope for all as Ivy is one of the oldest. She is even having decent morning naps too althougj afternoon one still a bit hit and miss. I can actually get things done and spend time with older dc whilst she naps now yay!

Hope everyone else ok

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/08/2013 17:04

I've finally sat down for 5 mins with a cup of tea and the cat has jumped on my lap for a cuddle. I think she misses the attention she used to get pre-dd Sad

Angiel dd sounds about the same as yours, she tries to crawl but doesn't quite have the strength yet and her fat belly gets in the way

DD is on three meals now, for breakfast she usually has porridge and fruit, for lunch something like sandwiches. I give her tea at around 5pm and she usually has whatever DP and I have eaten the night before, reheated. Then DP and I cook and eat ours after she has gone to bed. Birdies mine also shovels food into her mouth as fast as she can. She often has a bit of food in each hand, and tries to get them both in her mouth at the same time. She hardly gags these days though, she seems to have worked out what she can swallow and what she needs to spit out.

It feels like all I do is cook and clear up food at the moment.

Loveit I'm with you on the poos, just as I had got used to her only going once a week when we were bfing. And now they stink!

Congrats on the sleep Apple

mrsbugsywugsy · 16/08/2013 17:09

Sleep-wise, things are slowly improving . She goes down for the night in her cot around seven, then sometimes wakes in the evening and needs rocking back to sleep usually just as we have served our dinner out. Then she wakes at some point in the night - I don't look at the time - and feeds, then falls asleep in bed with us till she wakes up for the day anytime between six and eight.

For us, better sleep has coincided with starting solids, and also introducing a fairly fixed bedtime of 7pm and bedtime routine (thanks to the no cry sleep solution).

BuntyCollocks · 16/08/2013 17:54

Hello all!

Sleep is still fairly crap here- jealous of those who are having better nights. C is 33 weeks tomorrow. Gaviscon for her reflux constipated her, so she's off that now :(

She's on three meals a day, too, loving porridge, weetabix or toast for brekkie or pain au chocolat , pasta... Actually anything tbh.

We've had crawling for a good few weeks, and pulling up, and now she's starting to take her first steps with her walker Shock

Nowhere is safe ...

newbie6 · 16/08/2013 18:10

Hi everyone,

Sorry for those of you with poor sleepers, hopefully as they say, things can only get better! My wee one is 31 weeks today, on 3 meals but pretty much still purée stuff as he gags on anything else but I've given him some of those finger food things like carrot sticks and apple rice cakes and he manages some of them. No crawling signs and is still not sitting independently but don't think it will be long! No teeth either, lazy boy :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

X

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/08/2013 18:46

DS had toast this morning. He had a piece in each hand and was eyeing up a third piece on his tray. He decided the best course of action was to lean forward and suck it off the tray Hmm

We had three pretty good naps today so I have high hopes for a better night tonight. If I can only get him to stop head butting his cot and go to sleep.
