Birdies DS1's poo was like that - still is. DS2's is a revelation - neat little package not spready at all.

Well thats put everyone off their lunch hasn't it? Grin

Well! What a day so far. I've had to come back early from a keep in touch day cos the child I left fine and sleeping at 11 apparently screamed for an hour and puked snotty and everything. I returned to a massive grin gave him a yoghurt n now he's asleep! His poos are also neat and tidy but stink

Ooh 1st fangs pointing out too.

Hope mollys ok angie!

Angielka · 23/09/2013 16:50

Thanks lora she's fine just a bit dazed. I felt horrible.

Sorry you missed your kit day. It's round now they start really clinging isn't it and finding ways of keeping mummy close.

Meringue33 · 23/09/2013 18:39

Yes it's so funny as he seemed so independent before.

Birdies I forgot to say my speciality is "leftover pasta", which often gets made here about 3x per week. It's whole wheat fusilli with tomato sauce (canned tomatoes, onion, garlic, basil, oregano, tomato purée) plus whatever we can find in fridge/cupboard so may be tuna, ham, bacon, asparagus, peppers, olives etc and grated cheese on top.

His third tooth is well on the way through plus I can see the fourth and fifth starting to show white. It takes about five minutes for his drool to completely soak a fresh t shirt. Poor little thing :(

Glorious how is Japan? What have you done so far? I'm dying to go, may do it for honeymoon next year.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 23/09/2013 19:43

Our weekend caravanning was... er... interesting. DH failed to level the van so on night one every time DS tried to roll onto his side (which is how he sleeps) he ended up rolling uncontrollably across the bed until he hit the bed guard, which obviously didn't impress him! I had to squeeze into the single bed with him and prop him up all night.

Night two began with a 3-hour screaming fit after next door's yappy dogs yapped so much he couldn't get to sleep. He finally dropped off at 8.30 and slept 'til almost midnight. This has thrown me slightly - I've always been convinced he wakes every three hours through the night because he's hungry. He takes a full feed each time. However he didn't take a feed after his 6pm feed that night, which makes me think he's maybe waking every three hours out of habit. Which makes me wonder if I should look at night weaning.

I have swiped DH's car. I don't like the gearbox but at least it's a car.

Frittata is always a hit in this household. DS loves anything egg-based and he can easily hold frittata.

I also have a difficult-to-dress boy - he's a beanpole too! You guys have reminded me I need to get the 9-12 months vests ready as he'll no doubt need them soon. Need to get some with a picture on the front so DH knows which way round they go. You'd think he'd have figured that out after 8 months but apparently not...

Pascha · 23/09/2013 19:53

I thought my DH was the only man who could put on a vest back-to-front Hmm. He's had 3 years practice ffs. How hard can it be?

Hi y'all! Wow lots of teeth popping out for everyone.
LO has one and today another is poking out - at opposite sides of his lower jaw. He is going to look like Mutley from Whacky Races. He crawls commando style at high speed towards dangerous objects/stairs/precipices and such forth. Attempting to dive head first off the sofa or any other height is his favourite past time. How on earth has the human race survived all this time??
I've been in France for two weeks with my horses and various family members which was pretty manic but great fun - logistically challenging though!

Lostbobbles · 24/09/2013 11:06

Angie hope DD2 is ok today. We had an accident yesterday she tried to stepping without holding onto anything fell flat on her face on the wooden floor and cut her gum thank god she doesn't have teeth as would of been horrendous teeth through gum situ Hmm

Cupcakes well done for surviving camping and sounds like it could be habitual waking I now try not to go in or feed in the night between the hours of 11-5am. But she does have a dummy so uses that to settle herself back most of the time.

Octane - what do you do with your horses?

glorious · 24/09/2013 13:02

meringue we've spent a few days in Tokyo wandering around some of the key areas and stuffing ourselves with food. That's kind of it, we're taking things quite gently. Tomorrow we're off to the alps for a bit of gentle walking and village admiration. It has been surprisingly fantastic with a baby as so many people come over and make a fuss of her or help out when she's crying. The facilities are also great (though you wouldn't want a pushchair, everyone uses a sling or a really lightweight umbrella fold which they cart up and down steps). There are little seats in the loos a bit like a highchair on the wall so you can put the baby down, they are such a good idea. The only downside is that they don't really do breastfeeding in public. I'm not at all self conscious about it normally but I don't want to make people uncomfortable when the culture is very different. There are nice private rooms in shops which we have used but I have also fed her in coffee shops and hoped nobody noticed. Everyone is far too polite and kind to say anything anyway Smile Also there often aren't highchairs but they've been very thoughtful in choosing us tables and providing baby cutlery etc, and ecstatic when she's tucked into rice/noodles/prawn from sushi.

I'd say go for it. There are some lovely traditional hotels called ryokan too, which would be amazing for a honeymoon though pricey. We have one night in one coming up.

mrsbugsywugsy · 24/09/2013 18:46

oops lost this thread. Just been enjoying catching up on all of your news.

Having a miserable week, DD and I both have colds. DD keeps coughing and waking herself up so we've had no sleep and she is only managing 20 minute naps before she wakes herself up. Is it normal for babies to wheeze if they have a cold or can that be a sign of asthma?

DD is another little sumo wrestler of a baby, she is in 9-12 month trousers now with the legs rolled up.

She will eat pretty much anything, her favourite quick meals are pasta with tomato sauce, 'cauliflower cheese' (=cauliflower in philadelphia), omelette.

Meringue dd poos at every mealtime without fail. It's really charming, we will be enjoying her dinner and suddenly she goes bright red, makes little grunting noises, then stinks the room out with her smelly poo.

Angiel poor Molly, glad she is ok now.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 24/09/2013 19:21

bugsy DS is just getting over a cold and he was quite wheezy with it. Seems to have cleared OK now though. Really hope it's not asthma!

Lost I so wish DS would take a dummy. He self-weaned off his when he was about 4 months old. Might have to bite the bullet and start night weaning then. Eek!

I have a Rocky Road Chocolate Sundae. Yum.

lollipoppi · 24/09/2013 20:59

Bugsy, it's quite normal for baby to wheeze if they are quite chesty, it's defo not a sign of asthma (they wouldn't diagnose asthma until age 2/3 unless in extreme cases (like DS1, he was diagnosed at 18mo) however it can be a sign of broncholitis, this is the worse time of year for it unfortunately with the weather changes

Glorious sounds like your having a fab time! How long are you there for?

Had a bit of a scare tonight, when driving home, DD started coughing and chocking Shock had to jump out of the car and she was sick everywhere and couldn't get her breath, a lovely lady saw and pulled over to help thank god!

Hormonalhell · 24/09/2013 22:17

How scary lollipoppi, hope DD ok?

mrsbugsywugsy · 24/09/2013 22:55

Hope your dd is OK lolli

I have asthma myself and get wheezy when I have a cold which is why I wondered about it.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 25/09/2013 03:40

loll hope you and you DD are OK.

Been up for an hour and a half with DS. I've got him asleep in his cot 4 or 5 times but he always wakes 10 - 15 minutes later and screams. I've started telling people in RL that he sleeps through as I can't take thepitying looks / helpful advice.

Right, attempt number 6 (ish).

BuntyCollocks · 25/09/2013 07:37

Ugh, stupid teeth and stupid cold. Shitty night. She was night weaned for a whole two weeks. Now I'm back feeding her at 1 when she wakes up inconsolable. She's getting chopped off again when these teeth are through and the cold is gone.

lollipoppi · 25/09/2013 07:38

She is absolutely fine now!
She was crying in the car and got herself into a bit of a state then started coughing which made her sick, then started to choke on the sick!! Oh god I shit myself!!

Cupcakes, Brew for you today, hope you got some sleep?

lollipoppi · 25/09/2013 07:58

X post Bunty! Brew For you too!

BuntyCollocks · 25/09/2013 08:47

Oh god, lolli I'd've shit myself too! All ok now? Bless you both!

Thank you, mucho Brew required. Got a little sleep, not much, poor dh went to spare room to get some kip. Working til 1 today. He's told me to have an easy day - he doesn't realise I have a full washing basket, his ironing to pick up lazy wife farms it out, stuff to get from next, John Lewis, boots drugs for teething monsters, tesco ... Not so relaxing!

Yes, def a Brew for cupcakes. I don't lie. I tell them she's a bit crap at sleeping and then give them the 'I dare you to say something' stare. Which may make me look a bit constipated ??

Have started the pre-Christmas clear out. Anything not nailed down is getting ebayed, sent to charity, or put to the recycling.

Birdies · 25/09/2013 09:18

Sounds glorious glorious (hehe). Am a bit Envy though.

lolli how scary.

bunty that's shit, hope you get more sleep tonight. What exactly does night weaning involve? I'm back to 2 feeds a night and can't see it changing anytime soon unless I do something.

cupcakes I'm going to start doing that too. At my baby group everyone looks at me with pity when I say she doesn't sleep through. Seems like ALL theirs do. Yeah right! Well I'm going to join in the porky pie telling!

Have just started brushing X's teeth. Should have done it before really. She absolutely loves it.

BuntyCollocks · 25/09/2013 10:26

birdies my night weaning involved being at pil for a week, she was in with them and only got brought to me if she couldn't be rocked back to sleep. Went from many feeds to sleeping (with little wakenings once or twice for dummy) to sleeping 8 - 6.

glorious · 25/09/2013 12:31

Wow bunty do your PIL want to sort mine out as well?! I'm planning to gradually reduce the length of her night feeds when we're back and over the worst of the jet lag. And keep her in her cot more of the night (tend to crumble by 12 atm). I just can't go on like this. Though she did sleep brilliantly after the flight, I think she went down at 9 and only woke 1 and 5 and slept til 940 whereas she's normally 8-630 with at best 2 hourly wakings. So perhaps that's the answer! She wouldn't go in the travel cot though.

I just say she's not a great sleeper and try to change the subject.

Sorry for those under the weather Sad Thanks

Pascha · 25/09/2013 12:45

One of Dans top front teeth has finally dropped down, with a little help from ibuprofen in the night last night. He now has 3 teeth on top and two on the bottom. Getting there (toothy Grin). I've been just wiping his teeth over with a damp muslin so far, can't remember when I introduced a brush with DS1 - not til about a yearish I think.

Glad your DD is fine Lolli. I live in fear of D chewing something inappropriate and choking that way. He's a demon for wires, keys, cars, anything dangerous Hmm.

No colds or anything nasty here yet so far and we've been at nursery for 3 weeks. I also get wheezy with colds so not looking forward to the damp cold weather. Hope its a bright crisp autumn here.

Bunty You don't want to do my house too do you? Its full of CRAP everywhere. Unused baby stuff, more toys than they know what to do with (some of it new for birthday 2 weeks ago Hmm) and the Christmas cupboard is already filling up thanks to the bargain threads. I know I need to ebay the jumperoo, the baby swing, the nice swaddle blanket, several toys, baby gym, old buggy raincover, 2 sticky children etc...
