Birdies We used to but actively trying not to any more. Trouble is, I just don't have the heart to wake him if he falls asleep! I'm currently reading "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" and her suggestion for that is to gently unlatch them just as they're nodding off, but still let them fall asleep on your lap as a first step. If they root around a lot let them latch back on and try again. I've not tried it yet so can't vouch for it, but it seems like quite a gentle method of getting them used to not needing the boob to fall asleep.

Lora great news! Perhaps we're all going to be making progress from now on.

Angielka · 17/08/2013 21:41

birdies my DD1 never crawled - she went straight to walking at 11 months and until then moaned all the bloody time until we walked her about. That's why I was asking about crawling because Molly is so nearly there but I have no idea when things should click into place.

I went through a patch of feeding to sleep, but now she stays awake after feeds, like djvesi said. She does suck her thumb though, so she uses sucking to get to sleep once I've put her down in her cot.

lolli hope the croup clears up soon Sad

lora I'm a total ewan convert now - think she uses him more than the sucking to get to sleep now...

Lora1982 · 17/08/2013 21:46

Five mins and hes asleep in his cot with ewan Grin my childs great

Pascha · 18/08/2013 09:00

DS1 did the rocking back and forward on hands and knees thing from about 7.5 to 9.5 months but never really got the hang of crawling. He was pulling up at 9 months, cruising at 10 and walking at 11 months.

Dan is rocking now, it looks like he's so nearly there with the crawling but I know from experience it could go on like this for ages or never really click at all. Makes not a jot of difference to when they start walking.

I was trying to introduce food slowly to my DD. I bought the Karmel book. I steamed and pureed. I let baby play with the spoon. I bathed her afterwards. Now I'm on holiday with my mother. She watched that palaver then went out and bought pre made puree, straightjacketed the baby took command of the spoon and shoveled the food in. So much easier. Sod letting the baby learn spoon handling skills! My mother is crowing about my reluctant admission that maybe, just this once, she knows best! And baby is cheerful. Thank God.

Birdies · 18/08/2013 09:45

We had a night like she was only a few days old last night. Up every 1.5 hours. It was awful. Then at 540am she lies there grunting and straining until 7am when I got DH to take her downstairs. I can only think its tummy ache from solid food. Or from me feeding her every time she wakes which I know I shouldn't but I'm so zombiefied I just pick her up and feed her.

I'm knackered.

Does anyone's baby who still gets fed to sleep every time actually sleep well? I'm also wondering if I need to tackle that as she just won't settle unless she's fast asleep from feeding.

cupcakes thanks I actually have that book somewhere, I will dig it out and have a read.

Angielka · 18/08/2013 09:56

birdies when Molly was waking up every two hours and I fed her each time, I think she got full of wind and it made her sleep worse than usual. Since sinding DH in when she wakes before three hours after her last feed, she has slept much better. Last night she woke at 10pm when I fed her, then midnight when she fell asleep again without a feed, then she didn't wake until 5am. It's so hard when you're sleep-deprived to make a plan to tackle it, but that book sounds like a good one.

Loveitall · 18/08/2013 13:06

Think ds next tooth is on its way, up twice last night crying. Then very very grumbly and crying lots today.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 18/08/2013 13:36

Ugh. I've really buggered up DS' nap. Spent too long trying - and failing - to get him in his cot and now he's over tired. He's been screaming for nearly an hour now ad no amount of rocking / feeding will get him to sleep. I could kick myself. Why didn't I just let him sleep on me?

DH is really winding me up too - he's basically sat on his backside all weekend whilst I've been running around like an idiot trying to get stuff done.

Loveitall · 18/08/2013 21:21

Hugs cupcakes hope ds got to sleep eventually.
We have struggled with ds afternoon nap but we are starting to have him go down in his cot for a nap in the pm now.

And big news in the love household is that ds ate toast and cheese spread as finger food tonight.. No coughing or gagging and dh was there and saw it with his own eyes :)

Lostbobbles · 18/08/2013 21:52

Fab on the finger food, well done mini love Grin

Pacha / Apples lol at the pasta sauce coated babies, the mess they manage to create is just incredible. Shock

Exhausted here, DD1's party yesterday, went really well but so glad it's over. Organising and sleep deprivation was not good in my already brain dead head Confused thank god for dear friends who helped pull it all together.

DD2 is still being a pain shit at night and waking at least 2-3 times and to make matter worse keeps standing up in the sleepbag and then loses her footing and falls over Hmm have used a blanket tonight but she doesn't stay under it for more than two minutes.

Re Xmas presents - you ladies are organised. My DD2 will be getting re wrapped hand me downs as I suffered extreme first baby syndrome and have a loft full of stuff i even have a wipes warmer!! We have been struggling to think of birthday presents for DD1 and today came home from the garden centre with a bloody fish tank feel sorry for the impending fish, DH and I do not have a good track record with looking after fish

Loveitall · 18/08/2013 22:38

lost I feel your pain with fish we also struggle to keep fish alive I have a tarnished history with them shall we say

Pascha · 19/08/2013 04:12

Dan will be getting a toybox for Christmas, just as ds1 did, so that's ok. No idea about birthday though. We also suffered extreme pfb syndrome in regard to presents so there isnt much biggish we could get, guess it will be a balloon in a box then.

Why am I awake at 4am thinking of this? I don't know! No other fucker in this house is! Hmm

happyhow · 19/08/2013 06:49

I love my boy. He's just done 6.50pm-6.40am for the first time ever! Back at work today so I actually feel quite refreshed!

I've bought some clothes for Xmas/bday but that's all so far.

Bailey required a full change of clothes after lunch yesterday - he had food everywhere!

lollipoppi · 19/08/2013 06:57

Whoop whoop happy!! Good luck with your first day back at work!!

I've not even thought about Xmas yet, need to get organised! (I say this every year)

DD is much better now and back to her cheeky self Smile

LetThereBeCupcakes · 19/08/2013 09:55

Great news happy! Enjoy your first day back at work.

loll glad dd is on the mend.

Better night here, too - DS only woke twice.

Pascha · 19/08/2013 15:22

Danny is pissing himself laughing at babies on youtube Grin.

Lora1982 · 19/08/2013 18:52

Hope all went well happy. Ive got a meeting friday to see if I can not go back til xmas. From my understanding I can have an extra 3 months unpaid... but I could do kit days to bring some money in during that time.

Im not up on this at all. Til the end of sept is smp then til oct 27th is my accrued holidays... so I could push it further. Worked out all I need is £510 a month to cover all bills. I can do this cant I?!

BuntyCollocks · 20/08/2013 02:07

Someone will be along in a bit to paint a big, black x on my door.

I think ds has the pox ...

lollipoppi · 20/08/2013 07:05

Pascha share the link Smile

Lora I'm really not sure about the maternity pay I'm self employed so not sure how it all works?

Bunty Hmm hope he is ok? Has he got the spots?

BuntyCollocks · 20/08/2013 08:37

He is fine in himself, thanks, but had some suspicious little pimples last night, which have filled overnight and are definitely chicken pox, so there's no wondering about it now.

Luckily, I think dh is going to be able to work from home in the mornings whilst I'm also working, as Alex can't go to nursery until they've all scabbed.

Lostbobbles · 20/08/2013 14:04

Wish DS well Bunty, virasoothe supposed to be good.

Good to hear DD on the mend Lolli

DD2 still playing up at night with several wakings Hmm

glorious · 20/08/2013 15:46

Awh poor thing bunty . Hope the rest of you don't get it.

Total nap refusal today despite my best efforts. Discounting a ten minute snooze on the boob she's only just succumbed. Shock Bloody teeth.

And she seems to have reacted to egg, she's covered in hives.

Meringue33 · 20/08/2013 17:10

Aw poor Bunty and Glorious babies x

I am tired. Back from the D&V holiday. Think LO may have bug now as changing a lot of dirty nappies! Either that or pendulum has just swung the other way after severe constipation.

In other news he's changed his mind about naps in cot Hmm, or sleeping in cot at night after the first wake up.

Sense of humour tho is widening daily. Today I knocked over a glass of water and he PHSL. I can tell him and DP are going to totally gang up on me in this house! :)

octanegirl · 20/08/2013 19:33

How is weaning going for everyone? I struggle to come up with enough variety I think - he gets used to something and eats lots of it and then I change to something new and he'll only eat a tiny bit. Sigh...
