Here we go again

That made me laugh Cupcakes. Spaghetti bolognese for us tonight. He wouldn't wait for any spoon and stuck his hands straight in the bowl. I just left him to it in the end and now he's orange from head to foot Grin

Nearly bedtime, then I need to pack a bag for Dan as he's going to stay with Nanny tomorrow. We're off to Lollibop with DS1 on the train and decided Daniel wouldn't get enough out of it to warrant all the extra crap we'd have to tote around so its just the three of us - DH, DS1 and me. Haven't had that since before Dan was born.

Oh... My... God... DS just fell asleep in his cot. As in, he was in his cot awake, and then he fell asleep. He has NEVER done that. I've always had to rock him to sleep then transfer him. I try to put him down awake every night but it always descends into screaming within a few minutes, but tonight he just dropped off. Perhaps this is the start of a whole new sleeping baby?

Loveitall · 16/08/2013 20:25

cupcakes yay for falling asleep in cot Grin

Much better today in the love household...he actually had a proper afternoon nap which made such a difference to his mood this afternoon.

Going to be slowly introducing finger foods as he is making the chewing motions now...doing it while dh isn't around as he isn't keen on the gaggin and doesn't think he is ready...I hate the gagging but will persevere as I think ds will become more accustomed to finger foods the more he has. Will see which one of us wins out!

Angielka · 16/08/2013 20:27

Congrats cupcakes! Just have to get the naps right and he'll sort out the rest Wink it's such a massive relief when they do something 'right' unexpectedly, isn't it?!

Tee hee pascha sounds like our experience with pasta and meatballs this week...

Off to my parents tomorrow for a week visiting friends and relatives while DH works. If I can get DD1 to stop surreptisiously kicking the baby I will consider it a success and if Molly continues to sleep better I might get more sleep and stop telling DD1 off long enough to have some fun with her

Angielka · 16/08/2013 20:28

love hasn't your DH figured out who wins the baby-related disagreements yet? Wink

Loveitall · 16/08/2013 20:35

Hehe, he's getting there! I'm going away with ds on Monday to the family caravan with dsd and dm. 3 days to crack finger food before hubby joins us Grin

On the poo front...only 2 today...although this mornings was the equivalent of a whole weeks lot of poo I swear!

Tugstonia · 16/08/2013 20:37

Excellent news cupcakes! Long may it continue :)

Hope everyone's well this evening. DD went to sleep at 6.30pm tonight and I've just enjoyed a long, hot bath for the first time in ages. DP is out and it's really quite nice to have an evening to myself. Last night DD slept 7pm to 5.30pm and then 6 to 7.30am - the turnaround since doing CC is quite amazing! Hope I haven't just jinxed it

Food-wise, she has porridge with banana/fruit puree or toast for breakfast, toast and steamed veg sticks with hummus for lunch and bits and bobs for tea (e.g. cheese stick, rice cake, fruit). I do give her the occasional Ella's Kitchen pouch as well... Need to change it up a bit I think.

Quick bf question: how many times day are you bfing your dc now that they're on solids? I'm still doing 4 or 5 times (morning, mid-morning, mid-afternoon, bedtime, and occasionally at about 4am). Does that sound about right?

Have a good week away Angie and enjoy Lollibop Pascha

djvesi · 16/08/2013 20:37

Hi Ladies!
I've been MIA since DD arrived but finally started back reading the thread this week.

Had to comment to loveitall, I have resorted to the same stealth finger food administration. DH acts as though I'm being an unfit mother whenever she ends up with a little chunk in her mouth which she always spits out

So good to see how you're all progressing! We've got a very vocal little songstress, still belly scooting and not sitting, still waking 2-4 hourly for feeds. Praise be the morning coffee!

Tugstonia · 16/08/2013 20:38

Ooh yes the poo... jeez it's stinks doesn't it?! And DD did about 5 today

Tugstonia · 16/08/2013 20:40

PS still no rolling here let alone crawling or pulling up, I'm v impressed with those that are! One of my NCT group babies is scooting around her living room Shock

Tugstonia · 16/08/2013 20:40

Welcome back djvesi!

Loveitall · 16/08/2013 20:46

[djvesi] so glad it's not just me who is having to resort to stealth tactics!

Ds can commando crawl across the room frighteningly quickly now..can't take my eyes off him! He has also today discovered that there is a room where I go to get his bottle/food etc :/

AppleCrumples · 16/08/2013 21:39

Hi all

cupcakes that made me laugh! And yay on the falling asleep! Really hope you will be getting q full nights sleep now :)

Welcome back djvesi.

Agree on the poo! Makes me pine for the days of fully bfing!

tugs Ivy is bf about the same as your dd so sounds about right to me! :)

pascha enjoy lollibop and a bit of time with ds1.

Ivy is currently working on stealing chocolate biscuits from ds1! Nothing is safe these days.

Dp doing extra shifts this week so on my own with them all since last week, hes only around for dinner! I'd give anything for 5 mins peace! :(

happyhow · 16/08/2013 21:43

Tugs, I was exactly the same for feeds until today. Was at the health visitor this morning and she told me to cut out the mid-morning and afternoon feeds to encourage him to eat more solids so that he'd hopefully sleep through and not need the 4am one. He was grumpy late afternoon but I just kept handing him breadsticks and offering water and he ate like a gannet at tea time! First day of trying it so will have to wait and see how it pans out.

Can't believe some babies are crawling and standing and walking! B still hasn't mastered rolling! Although it's not far away. He can sit for absolutely ages on his own though.

Had my first Brazilian today since B was born. Seeing as I was starting to look like Miranda from SATC, it was sore one! Although I think after childbirth, it was a breeze!

Lora1982 · 16/08/2013 23:10

Cupcakes well done you on the cot sleeping, I was going to try it tonight but was too lazy cos he seems to prefer sleeping on his side and cant do that if im rocking in a pram.

Helllooo djvesi

Boob feedings a bit of a fail here tugs he has some in the morning before breakfast and if I offer any other time its a quick ten seconds. So I get scared he'll dehydrate so he has a bottle in the afternoon. Only other he gets is droplets from the pump in his breakfast.... and they really are droplets, think my boobs are giving up. But aslong as he seems happy in himself I sharnt worry. The same with yours, if they arent crying for more they clearly have enough.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 17/08/2013 06:22

Lora DS is a side sleeper - now that he's able to move himself around he's definitely going to sleep more easily, which is why I gave it a go.

Apple You have my sympathies - DH is working away Mon-Fri at the moment. It's hard, isn't it? Fortunately MIL is staying for a bit to help out, which takes the pressure off a bit.

Not a bad night last night! He woke at 8.30 after banging his head on the cot (again), but got him back to sleep fairly easily. Then he woke at 12.30 and 4.30, so much better than we have been getting.

I've been Christmas shopping for DS already. I'm stupidly excited about his first Christmas...

Loveitall · 17/08/2013 08:30

cupcakes. So glad I'm not the only one who has started buying crimbo stuff for ds...am so ridiculously excited...I am saying we will not go over the top as he won't remember this chrismtas....but in reality.........

lollipoppi · 17/08/2013 08:54

Hi all,
Not had chance to post for a bit, these little bambinos are doing great! Especially B on the steps Shock !

DD has croup Hmm she has been utterly miserable and v clingy!
She is 6 and half months now, I've lost count in weeks!
DS1 is a bit more interested in her now she is mobile which is lovely to watch, but DS defo needs to work on his sharing skills!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 17/08/2013 09:13

Loveit it's their first Christmas - of course we must go over the top! We're buying DS some Toot Toot drivers sets. Mostly because DH and I want to play with them!

Lolli hope the croup gets better soon.

AppleCrumples · 17/08/2013 10:11

cupcakes snap! Am getting samr for me Ivy :)

This xmas will be mad as ds2 xmas eve bday just a wrrk before Ivys new year one! Started shopping for bits a while ago...might go bankrupt otherwise!

lolli hope your dd is better soon.

Lora1982 · 17/08/2013 10:18

Mil was talking presents yesterday and pointed out that after their birthdays its a looong wait til christmas again so shes buying something for now for his christmas and an older thing for his birthday

Birdies · 17/08/2013 10:19

Hi djvesi

pascha enjoy, sounds fun Envy

Ivy sounds like a cheeky little monkey apple!

Poor DD lolli

Anyone else feed their baby to sleep? I used to always make sure she self settled but somewhere along the way I started feeding her to sleep and now she can't seem to sleep without.

Someone was asking about crawling. X is 8 months at the end of this month and is sitting independently but not looking like she wants to move about. So no crawling or moving forwards on her tummy. The only rolling she does is to get off her tummy to avoid tummy time! And a bit of back to front rolling if she wants a toy. But they change so quickly - last time when I said she wasn't sitting, the next day she did!

Lora1982 · 17/08/2013 11:39

Woo thanks cupcakes for giving me the confidence to shuv him in his cot without any rocking, with the help of ewan he's gone straight sleep for his morning kip.

Ive not needed to feed to sleep for a while birdies, , I'll let him have a go but if he comes off I stick him in his box with a dummy

BuntyCollocks · 17/08/2013 12:10

lolli poor dd and you :(

birdies I feed to sleep, or she gets fed then her dummy in. Either way, she sucks to sleep.

She's still napping from about 10 this morning. I am gobsmacked.

djvesi · 17/08/2013 12:14

Hey Birdies, I was feeding to sleep every time, but somewhere along the way she just started staying awake after feeds. So now it's feed, burp/cuddle, then into cot (~8pm), or pram cot (morning and afternoons). We had some tears the first few evenings, but now she doesn't cry at all.
