Evil I'm doing the Mumsnet summer low carb bootcamp info here although I only started it partway through because I wanted to get my exams out of the way first. There's another bootcamp starting in September to lose weight for Christmas if anyone's interested. I have lost 14.5 pounds in 43 days and that includes ten days of holiday where I was cheating quite a lot a little. So it definitely worked for me. DH went on the diet with me and he's looking trimmer as well.

evil I think if you don't make a big deal of it he'll be fine. DD1 did the same when she was about 9 months old. We took her to Paris to spend a weekend with some friends and for the first hour or so she just gawped. IBabies aren't racist of course but are curious, and I guess it is normal that they would look at someone who looks different to themselves.

Works the other way too. When I took DD1 to the Lakes a few weeks ago we took a steam train and boat ride with three coachloads of Chinese tourists doing the same trip. I could see them, one after the other, staring and discreetly trying to take pictures of me and her, particularly the teens. In the end I stopped still on the platform and posed. We're blonde and I think getting close to a blonde child was a curiosity for them. It was funny. (she stared at them too)

Hello. Hope you remember me.

Just popping in to say that I went to the haggis meet today and was told some people were asking after me. Just wanted to say I appreciate it.

I hope to be back at some point where I won't fill up the thread with my moaning and endless night posts.

At least I know where to find you all, the thread was in most active so felt mean not to say hi!

Hope everyone is well.

ChasingDaisy · 30/07/2013 21:07

Yes PR Chinese folk are often fascinated by blonde westerners Smile although I'm not entirely sure how happy XP's grandparents were about him procreating with one...

StuntNun · 30/07/2013 21:07

Yay Izzy good to hear from you. Don't worry you aren't spamming the thread and sometimes it's good to get things off your chest. We ain't going anywhere so dive back in when you feel up to it.

Just do whatever is right for you lovely. But please don't feel that you aren't welcome here, you are missed and we are all thinking about you x

Pikz · 30/07/2013 21:08

Izzy whizzy big hugs Thanks

StuntNun · 30/07/2013 21:09

Chasing I asked my dad one time how his parents felt about him marrying a black woman, remember this was the early 70s and it wasn't that common at the time. Apparently my granny said "At least she isn't Irish"! Facepalm on my granny's behalf.

We haven't much food in and i'm too tired to cook so I've just ordered Chicken wings and cheesy chips from the takeaway down the road, naughty me.

Thanks for the help chasing May venture to in to MK one evening

Nice name Ticklish Smile

PurplePidjin · 30/07/2013 21:10

Evil r does that and half his family are black! Our next door neighbours are south east Asian, he's fascinated by the two little girls. He stares at friendly-looking people mostly, i find, maybe tell them that's what it is if they even notice?

Envy of the chocolate munching. Although homegrown strawberries and raspberries with clotted cream was an excellent pudding here

FatimaLovesBread · 30/07/2013 21:12

Yay Izzy Big hugs!

PurplePidjin · 30/07/2013 21:12

Stunt my gran dearly loves dp but has to be told off for her language occasionally nigger in the woodpile, anyone?

BigPigLittlePig · 30/07/2013 21:19

F will stare and stare and stare at anybody. Black, white, Irish, Chinese, man, woman, hermaphrodite, cat. She isn't fussy lol. Depending on her mood, she will fix them with a steely "don't mess with me" stare, or beam. She is particularly enthralled by a wee girl at nursery who's parents come from somewhere I don't know, but who is blessed with the most beautiful jet black ringlets, and enormous, puppy dog eyes. Beautiful.

TicklishMould · 30/07/2013 21:25

I am itching to change back :(

evil my cousins dh is African and is very dark, the first time e met him he just stared and stared, luckily her dh just said 'ooh the little boy hasn't ever had a cuddle from such a big old bear before' and as he is such a smiley chap e really warmed to him :) e is a right people watcher regardless though, he is always bloody staring at someone!

izzy really good to hear from you!! Feel free to come back whenever is right for you but you certainly weren't clogging up the Fred at all

Mmmmm pp I'd be just as happy with strawberries, I love a good strawberry!

Evilwater · 30/07/2013 21:25

Thanks pr we don't have much diversity where I am.
stunt I will be Deffo doing the low carb diet. I still got alot to lose.

Evil

PetiteRaleuse · 30/07/2013 21:40

We don't have much diversity here either. DH is half Tahitian and my granny who is very racist but does her best to hide it kept asking what colour DD1 was going to be. Erm, don't know granny, scans don't tell you. You could tell she was worried about it but didn't want to say. She has mentioned a few times since the girls were born how pale they are, but in a pleased not worried way Hmm :o

YellowWellies · 30/07/2013 21:41

Jonas best bud at playgroup is a wee black boy they often stare at each other with big curious eyes especially when holding hands / twatting each other. The wee boy has v cute pin curl hair - his Mum reckons it's going to be an awesome 'fro when he's older and Jonas has big gingery curls - they're fascinated by each other's hair and the differences in their skin colour. As PR says babies are programmed to soak up new sights and sounds and when they see someone different or unusual (to their eye) they do stare. It doesn't make them racist. Jonas is however beardist. My cousin was sporting new facewear the other week and it made him weep.

Stunt good skills. My body has gotten used to dairy free I've found all the bad dairy free stuff so my weight loss has stalled. I'm not going to diet for weightloss whilst I'm on a restrictive diet (though maybe not eating whole packs of wine gums in one sitting mightn't hurt?) but when I stop eating bread / baked goods the weight just falls off. I need to have muesli and koko milk for brekkie rather than having bagels with J.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/07/2013 21:41

It's a good job my grandfather is no longer around actually I'm not sure what he'd have thought about me marrying a French man, let alone one that's half Tahitian :o

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/07/2013 21:45

Ahh well. My boys are ginger. I am ginger. DH is ginger. DD1 is ginger.

DD2 is not.

They are leading a sheltered ginger lifestyle.

DD1 said " did someone swap DD2 in the hospital? She is not like any of us?" She meant looks and personality. She is right. DD2 is not a ginger worrier, she is a mouse brown happy go lucky one.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 30/07/2013 21:45

I am off for a mini fab because of you lot. Grin

Evilwater · 30/07/2013 21:47

I keep being asked when N s ginger hair will show up! By his great grand mother. She is 95 this year and she uses the words when she was young. It can be very embarssesing. She's much better than she used to be, we've stopped her from using the N word.
evil

YellowWellies · 30/07/2013 21:49

PR a pal of mine when I lived in HK was blonde - she got a lot of attention when we went to mainland China as blonde hair is seen as gold and symbolic of wealth - I bet the Chinese tourists wanted pics with you and DD1 for good fortune.

BigPigLittlePig · 30/07/2013 21:55

LOL sophia at "mouse brown happy go lucky one" Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 30/07/2013 21:57

yw that's really interesting! Good job they didn't see my mousey roots. I quite like the idea of being a symbol of wealth. Would prefer obviously to be wealthy, but maybe being considered as a good luck charm is a sign that I'll get there one day.
