Started a game with you meals.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 20:39

Oh and if anyone asks us what to get him, the answer will be books. :) Can't go wrong with books!

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 20:40

Well done E! Snail boy... proper got the giggles now!! Grin

Lily311 · 28/07/2013 20:50

detective I will not get anything for O, only a cake. No need really, she won't remember and I know that my family will spoil her. So not much of a help I'm afraid.

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2013 20:53

PP I will ignore that last comment Grin

Detective I think if we really thought about the risk of driving we would never go in a car again.

MM thank you for those links. I have always wanted a Fabia but if we did get a new car it would probably be DHs anyway for logistical reasons. Money wise it is the same as the lease car, but with the lease you do not pay tax or repairs or insurance, however you do not actually own the car, and the mileage rate goes down 80% so it would be better financially to actually buy one privately. I feel a test drive coming on.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/07/2013 20:54

Hmm me and dh were wondering this the other day. Very tricky indeed. I would like to get a swing for the garden for her, but it isn't really the right time of year. Who knows.

Det what does Which say about the Maxi Cosi Tobi?

StuntNun · 28/07/2013 20:55

Detective J will be getting one of those tricycles with the parent handle so you can steer them around the place. I think it will be great for the school walk run.

Pikz · 28/07/2013 20:57

Stunt L will be getting the same!!

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 20:57

Perhaps Grin VQ.

I just can't decide now. There is a video of a car rolling which showed the child coming out in the shield seats. Also people talking about babies being able to escape them. O is good at that...

Ok, so the video was from Britax. Who don't make those seats... but Kiddy who do wrote a response and are doing their own video apparently. But I didn't feel their reply was reassuring at all.

And I've just noted Which gave my pushchair a best buy, when actually it's got a serious design flaw and should be re-called. I won't go in to it - as it hasn't happened to mine. But it is pretty damn dangerous. So now feel that I can't trust what Which are saying.

DAMN ITTTTT!

Pikz · 28/07/2013 20:58

I have to admit det having seen the shield seats in action with my nephews I really wasn't that keen..I went maxi cosi in both cars as got on amazing deals.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 21:01

I've sent you a message with it BP! If anyone else wants it, just shout!

Oh, it has the same rating as the car seat I bought today, if that helps. Which was £50 Grin Grin Grin Grin

Evilwater · 28/07/2013 21:01

VQ I have a Fabia estate, and I love it. I get about 60miles per gallon, the car insurance is cheap, and the tax is free (which is the best part Grin ) it was in the top ten of which cars, because its basically a VW but without the badge. I think it looks good too. The only downside is the repair bill.

Right off to watch the white queen.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 21:02

What amazing deals did you get Pikz?! Did you feel you would have an escapee on your hands also?!

MissMummy1 · 28/07/2013 21:02

Stunt that is what we are getting M too. Is it called a smart trike?

We are making her a memory quilt or elephant with her old sleepsuits.

Books.

Clothes.

A wooden jigsaw.

I've been collecting little bits and pieces for a month or two...

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 21:03

I had one of those for DS1, but it got used twice I think, so was going to give it a miss for O! I'm not sure! I'll get him some sort of ride on probably though! But a cheap one mean mummy! Grin

ChasingDaisy · 28/07/2013 21:03

I am clueless about car seats. I don't drive yet but I have a car seat for my dad's car. I got the Cybex Aton as it came with the M&P Sola travel system. According to the book that came with it, it can be used until approx 15 months (can't remember the weight limit but it was quite high)and is rear facing. Does this sound right?

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 21:07

P is getting a cardboard box and some silver foil for her birthday. Maybe a piece a of string with crinkly paper for Christmas.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/07/2013 21:08

Thanks det Smile

Luckily F is a tiddler, so we won't need to get the next seat for a few months good job as I'm penniless

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 21:11

Yep chasing. That's the same as the maxicosi if you have a pocket sized child. P is likely to be in hers until about 15 months if she grows at the same pace.

We will be getting the maxicosi pearl after the cabriofix as it is the only one which fixes on the family fix isofix base. I have a BMW 1 series. Looks nice and has heated seats. Not really big enough though surprisingly. I wouldn't recommend it actually.

Cripes. Neighbours have people round for a wee soiree now. Maybe all the screaming was to do with forgotten twiglets!

ChasingDaisy · 28/07/2013 21:13

For Oscar's birthday I am thinking of getting him a wooden activity cube. I will also buy him some books. He is having a family birthday party the Sat after his birthday (30th) and I am already thinking about which cake I want to get him. Then the day after his party, on 1st Dec I am taking him to see Father Christmas and the lights at MK and letting him choose a bauble for the Christmas tree. I want this to be our tradition every year.

Pikz · 28/07/2013 21:13

Yep det I felt like he could escape if he tried without real straps and also they slump over the middle bit when alseep.

I got my pearl for £99 at mothercare with vouchers and discount and my axiss for around £135 at a local baby shop who had a deal on. We have to have two due to nursery runs and cars/office locations.

ChasingDaisy · 28/07/2013 21:14

Thanks pass. O is dinky in terms of weight but a giraffe in terms of length so will have to see how we get on.

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 21:15

I haven't had l measured for months. People are always telling me how tall she will be. Hard to believe!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/07/2013 21:16

It's rare that French drama gets onto UK TV. I watched it already of course when it was on here. Good innit.

Won't get much for LO's birthday this year. Will get a cake and a small present. She won't remember, and others will get her things. At Christmas I will do her a little stocking with some bits and pieces, but more for DD1's benefit. Last year DD1 was too ill to enjoy Christmas so I want this year's to be magical for her. LO will enjoy it of course aswell but she will forget far more quickly.

Not much to report here. LO grumpy, I think it is teeth. Am stressing over work of course. Hopefully should all be resolved this week.

So tired. meals I am on WWF with this username, but not playing any more tonight. Would love to play tomorrow though?

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2013 21:18

Gosh Detective. I thought you were going to say scary things about regular 5 point harness seats.

Evil that is good to know about a Fabia. I want one as it rhymes with Labia.
