Chasing, you do know he doesn't understand yet don't you? I think that is very sweet of you Smile

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/07/2013 12:54

vq can I have a bath tonight? Or no?

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 13:10

I kept reading the gruffalo the other night because I wanted to! P was sound asleep!

I did give p a wee bottle - took 80ml quite greedily before falling asleep. She refused all lunch apart from breadsticks.

P seems to have been teething forever and still no teeth! Do they all get red cheeks?

ChasingDaisy · 28/07/2013 13:14

I know he doesn't VQ Smile Just seems like cheating somehow.

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2013 13:20

Sophia I would get your hubby to help you in and out to ensure no pulling of bits but yes, a bath tonight would be fine. Leave off the smelliest though until healed properly.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/07/2013 13:23

PP that is what I did. By night 3, she had stopped waking between 10 and 5, on night 4 (and pretty much ever since) she went 7-5 of her own accord Smile Crossing everything for you and R!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/07/2013 13:25

Ok. Ace.

Another lovely book for kids is called The Paper Dolls, I can't remember who it is by as it s boxed up now, but is lovely. And encouraged me to do paper dolls with DS1.

Lily311 · 28/07/2013 13:33

It's Julia Donaldson, we have it. It's great.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:00

Oh my word. O is so so so restless in his sleep right now. He's waking frequently. Luckily most are leading to self settling. But the last 2 days all sleeps - naps included - have been very restless.

Anyone else?

He did a 3 hour nap this morning, but woke 6 times, and self settled thank fuck. It's making night time confusing though as in my half asleep state I'm not sure if I've just fallen asleep and he's been crying the whole time. If that makes sense. I'm getting confused what is going on!

But when awake, I know he is waking every 20-30 minutes crying out, then he seems to go in a deeper sleep for an hour, before the next hour or two of restless sleep.

Kyzordz · 28/07/2013 14:04

Morning all :) well, s' not morning really is it! E had the special steak purée for lunch, I didn't purée it though, finely chopped stuff and he ate quite a nice amount considering how he's been with food again lately! 7-7 here, hoping to read of more good nights

Cutting grapes into four sounds good stunt I do sausages that way for him and he manages things well like this. We have a crinkle cutter too so I should probably bite the bullet and crinkle cut some different fruits for him. chasing do you do raspberries and blackberries whole? Or was It blueberries?

Glad you're enjoying doing your cross stitch btw chasing :)

eliza cool that the kids were good at the inlaws :) and congrats on your niece!!

pr that sounds lovely, your time last night with dd1

bry I am a rubbish cook lol, poor e must be very tolerant to the awful crap I stick in front of him :p I only really use the cookbooks because I'm such a bad cook, at least this way I know the content of the meals are ok even if the outcome isn't great...

Very glad you had a better night stunt

Hope it goes well pp

Hope you get the omeprazole stuffs vq poor j

det e has been a bit unsettled too, rolling about alot at night, I assumed heat :/ he wasn't as bad last night.

Right, off to cook :p

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:10

kyz see I thought could it be the weather, but it's been this hot for over 4 weeks now (I think). And it's only been the last 2 days. Not sure what it is!

ChasingDaisy · 28/07/2013 14:13

Envy of 3 hour naps, however restless. No answers here I'm afraid det Developmental leap perhaps? my answer for everything

kyz it was blackberries, the ones the same texture as raspberries. I gave them whole and he picked them up and bit chunks off. He loves any fruit, just got to work on the veg now.

SPOILER ALERT: Tabby McTat has a happy ending WinkSmile

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:16

You could be right chasing. But he's developing so rapidly it's hard to tell when it is or isn't developmental Grin.

He's currently working on standing unsupported. Another week or two and I think he might have got it.

I thought his behaviour before the MIL bread incident was down to teeth. But no teeth have emerged. Then it's taken him til yesterday to chill the fuck out after MIL bread incident Hmm. Now he's happy and not whinging all day long. But restless sleep instead!

Baaaaah!

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:18

His naps had gone to 45mins-1hr 15 in the morning, and were frought with failed transfers and endless waking earlier in the week, but then he was just unhappy in general fucking who knows what was wrong, and fucking MIL adding to it.

I'll take the restless sleep over that, but just wondering why he has become like that!

Babies are SO confusing!

MissMummy1 · 28/07/2013 14:19

Sorry things are a bit rubbish at the moment too stunt. I understand what you mean about not wanting to leave though. I am caught between a rock and a hard place in knowing what to do. I would be a hypocrite to leave over something that happened so long ago. I have 100 reasons to leave, but 100 more to stay. We had a very brutal conversation last night and battered out a few things that had been bothering each of us for a while. Why we can't do that without a massive argument beforehand I don't know. But ground rules have been written (and are going through my laminator as we speak Blush ). I'm not saying final attempt, as I know there will be plenty more arguments, but with my rational head on I know a petty argument and something that happened years back does not outweigh my reasons for staying.

And breathe.

Can't remember who said about their baby moving in a sleep pod - M turns herself North-South every night without fail in hers, regardless of what position her cot is in. It's a bit weird.

PR your description of watching the storm with DD1 last night is so lovely.

After doing a 6 month nursery placement I know the Gruffalo. Verbatim.

Great news on the carseat PP. Not sure if anyone replied before, but does anyone have an opinion on a 3 door car with a baby? We will still have the big car for most of the time but we will need a second smaller car for commuting if I get a more permanent job.

Sophia milk the bedrest for as long as possible Grin

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:20

He's also upped his milk in the last 2 days, draining some feeds, leaving an ounce in others. So he is taking 30 oz of milk Shock plus 2-3 meals.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:27

Sorry MM I did read your question the other day and totally forgot to reply - and I did have a reply!

Don't do it! Unless you absolutely have to!

I've got a 3 door clio. O currently goes in the front seat, which I hate, but I can't manage very well getting him in and out the back in his baby seat.

When he goes in the next stage seat he will be in the back though as it will be a little easier due to FF.

But, it's still a PITA, although you are slimmer and fitter than me. I just struggle to get my ass in, and my feet without falling over, then bash my head, and get stuck and generally look like a twat.

I will be replacing my car with a 5 door as soon as possible. Probably in the new year. Can't wait. I hate having 3 doors. 5 doors just so much easier... I had a 5 door Fiesta for my first car. DS1 was 2 exactly the same as what DP has now! and it was my absolute must have in a car - 5 doors only! Once they are out of car seats it's fine.

But plenty of people manage. I just know I don't like it.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 14:27

Pidj DP is currently in Halfords waiting for the fitter to check it fits Grin. Fingers crossed!

YellowWellies · 28/07/2013 14:28

Jonas has been v unsettled early evening after we've put him to bed - over the last week he's needed settling by DH at least 1-2 times before we go to bed. I was going up and feeding him back down for the sake of an easy life but that's always encouraged him to wake again for more comfort snacking - so when it got too frequent DH has gone to him the last 3 nights if he's woken before a reasonable time for a night feed (which I count as anything after 4am) and sung him to sleep. It seems to have worked as last night he didn't stir til 5am which is back to normal. To be fair I wouldn't wake up just for my husband's singing either Grin . I can loan him out? Wink For singing!!!

Pass red cheeked - tick, slathery - tick, downright grumpy little whingebag on occasion - tick, random squeaks of pain - tick, clingy carry monkey - tick, gnawing like a gerbil - tick. Still no teefs here either and he's over 9 months actual, 8 months adjusted. They'll come in their own time I guess I'm just wondering how much more of a song and dance he'll make of it when there is one cutting! Hmm Confused The docs don't worry as long as they get their first tooth by 18 months.

Well after only having half his meds yesterday - he was fine. Totally fine. We see the paed early August am going to discuss cutting down his omeperazole and given he was fine with soy again Smile Smile Smile Smile I think it might be time for me to add dairy traces / challenge via my diet. As much as I want a double Mars bar with cheese sandwich on the side and builder's tea chaser - I'm told I should try 1/2 of a malted milk biscuit. Envy Still it's a step in the right direction.

Am loving chat of crinkly cutters but I'm convinced if I get one I'll use it all the time for me - I've already decided that peeled apple tastes soooooo much better.

Oh and after an afternoon of playing dinosaurs with his cousin Jonas now roars. A lot. All the time. Words are dull. Roaring is the shizzle. Apparently Hmm

Lily311 · 28/07/2013 14:39

You lot are wiser than me. Can you advice me about car seat? I don't have a car and not planning to buy one till I really need one. However my parents have one and they do pick us up from bus station every week and occasionally my brother gives us a lift to go to my parents, lets say once a month. I currently use my nephews car seat as they had no accident and he is 18 months older than O. Next stage car seat is due and I'm debating whether to buy a cheap one or shall I invest in a good one and pay the price. What would you all do?

daisychain76 · 28/07/2013 15:08

Thanks for the advice re BIL lily, stunt and MrsJJ feel glad I did say something now, just panicked lack of sleep was making me irrationally stroppy. det O sounds similar to H at the mo (only in terms of sleep, don't think H will be walking for a bit!). I had it down as a developmental thing. pp I will be really interested to read about your progress with night weaning. Keep wanting to have a go, but never seems the right time.

MsJupiterJones · 28/07/2013 15:46

We are hoping to get an extended rear facing seat but it will need to fit in our 3-door, non-isofix Fiesta. I am a bit confused about the options and where to go for advice. Securatot seem to be the experts but they are based in Wiltshire. We had a bit of luck in that DH was asked to review some O+ car seats for a magazine and the manufacturers don't want them back, so we can flog them on eBay and hopefully that will raise some money for a new seat for L. But which one!

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 15:52

det same here. Waking every 30 minutes or so but no self-settling here so it's back up for cuddles every time. No red cheeks but plenty of slev, weird cry - more like a shout sometimes, evidence of a touch of nappy rash and completely off all food stuff. I managed to get a tiny amount of a pouch into her by squishing it straight into her mouth.

She is currently biting down on the table like she is giving birth or something

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 16:01

Currently reading Which car seat reviews. Just paid £1 for the month trial.

I am swayed towards the Kiddy or the Cybex, both of which use the adult seatbelt and a shield rather than a 5 point harness.

The idea seems great. My only problem is one small, determined, stubborn little goat child.

No point trying him til 9 months, so will wait til then to go and try him in one before buying.

I just read a review of the ERF Britax Max Way, which was one of the ones I was most interested in but it is a Which don't buy due to the fact it is so complicated to fit.

I must admit having watched how to fit them, this does put me off ERF, as it is only as safe as the person fitting it.

Plus having a 3 door car currently means that I'm not really keen on keeping him rear facing when I would struggle to get him in the bloody seat in the back of the car!

Ah, I dunno. I like the idea of ERF as it being safer. But then I'm not sure...!

If anyone wants to know about a seat let me know and I'll try and find the review!

Pidj thank you! The seat is safely secured in to DP's car, and is fab! More than worth £50! Am very pleased with it, and it has a 67% rating on Which. So good enough for me!

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 16:46

And now I have changed my mind again.

Fucking hell. Fucking car seats!
