What are the best buys Det? If you could let us know the top 3 rated seats it would be v appreciated. Jonas is wee so we're in no rush to move him out of his Cybex (which was a best buy at the time) and as you say I'm open minded about ERF as whilst it is safer they're only as safe as they are well fitted.

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2013 17:18

Pass, do her meds need increasing due to reflux due to teef?

ValiumQueen · 28/07/2013 17:21

ERF would be impossibly hard in a 3 door, if indeed possible.

MM once the tot can climb into the seat then a 3 door is ok. Lifting a heavy baby in is not nice at all.

Could you send me details of that 3 door offer you saw as we are on the lookout for another car and I am not sure if a lease car through work is the deal they sell it as :-)

MissMummy1 · 28/07/2013 17:33

corsa deal

Arnold Clark are also doing some good deals at the moment

Hope that helps VQ

I am impressed with the Maxi Cosi Tobi as bits of it light up green when it is fitted correctly.

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 17:37

Yes YW, I shall. Gimme a min!

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 17:48

Interestingly, all the top 4 buys for stage 1 seats are shield impact ones.... I've read something that has really worried me, so now I'm really not sure what to think.

Here's a list in order of the top rated.

Kiddy Energy Pro
Cybex Juno Fix
Kiddy Guardian Pro 2
Recaro Monza Nova IS
Britax Trifix Isofix
Maxi Cosi Priorifix Isofix

If you want the rest of the review on the seats just shout! :)

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 17:53

I had a corsa. For 5 weeks. :(

Loved the car.

Car saved my life in a crash really. Aside from the fact that if a Lorry had been in one of the other lanes I'd be dead regardless. But moving on...

The boot is stupidly, ridiculously, absurdly small.

And for that reason I will never have another while I have small children!

But damn, that deal is good! :( Tempting...

itsnotyouitsMeals · 28/07/2013 17:58

Missjj We ERF as we are lucky enough to afford them and have just moved DD1 to an axkid mini kid. It's tethered as isofix only goes up to 18 kg. We moved DD2 into her izi be safe combi. That can be isofix or not. I am a bit dubious about Which? tbh as they are very mainstream IMHO. Hth.

Glad you are getting things sorted mm and resting sophia. Yay for bargains vq and pp

Sorry things are tough stunt.

Teething and nine month regression here too. Yawn!

itsnotyouitsMeals · 28/07/2013 18:04

X posted. If you can I'd go ERF. I trust DH to fit but you can go to places to help and there are videos on YouTube. Izi be safe and axkid mini kid both passed the Swedish plus test. Appreciate that they are expensive though. dd1 is 3.5 and near weight limit for isofix hence buying a tethered seat so she can rear face until 5 ish.

PurplePidjin · 28/07/2013 18:21

Det it's a £180 car seat! That's why I'm getting it now, and driving 40 miles to collect it - no way could i afford that normally. His current Chicco one was £55 from £110 in the Argos sale

VQ Pompey are scum

I fully expect the next few days to be hell Sad

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/07/2013 18:27

I had two Corsas in my 20s/30s. I loved my Corsa. The second one I had was a 5 door sxi when DD1 was a baby. It was ace. But we had to sell it to get ExDH a van for his business. Sad we kept a diesel Peugeot 206 which actually was an excellent car and went on for years and years. Good on the motorway for a small car, felt very sturdy.

Love my new grandiose c max, even though I haven't driven it since last Wednesday.

How do I get DS1 to have his nails cut? He is adamant he is not having them done. Not for a chocolate button. Not for a pink cake. Hmm

MissMummy1 · 28/07/2013 18:32

My first car was my mum's corsa and then I had a 206 (loved that car until it blew up 2 days after my bfp!!)

Great minds sophia ...

MissMummy1 · 28/07/2013 18:37

*diesel 206

PurplePidjin · 28/07/2013 18:46

My first car was a Panda 5 years younger than me! Felt like driving a go kart :o i still love my bug, need the money but kind of hope it doesn't sell...

Sophia while he's asleep? Or Social Story?

StuntNun · 28/07/2013 19:16

YW we had crinkle cut courgettes for dinner tonight. Blush If you fry them then they go lovely and brown along the crinkles.

FC we have a better night's sleep tonight. I am seriously sleep deprived. We all went swimming today so hopefully everyone will be tired out and sleep well.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/07/2013 19:20

My DH has just bought 4x4 panda!! We all Grin. His reasoning is the lanes where we are moving to are uber narrow and we might need a 4x4. He may have the last laugh!

YellowWellies · 28/07/2013 19:39

Grin Stunt that settles it maaaan I love sautéed courgette

OK what's the oddest trick for stopping your baby from having a hissy fit? We have a couple of more unusual ones to supplement the standard sneezing and duck impressions which all little ones seem to find totes hilarious. For over a week now if he has a meltdown at bath time pulling the light cord on and off - or even just batting it so it swings from side to side is enough to stop tears and even sometimes raise a giggle. This is an improvement on his previous favourite of DH and I singing 'In the jungle' with the 'aweeeeeeeeeahhhhhwombombombaway' in falsetto. The neighbours must think we're tapped when they hear that drifting out of the skylight....

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 20:12

Really YW? My girl likes rough and tumble. Guaranteed to stop the post bath pre-nappy meltdown is biting her feet! Mades her lol and lol! Also playing peekaboo works.

Well, the baby who took an hour to settle to bed was just woken by our neighbours having an incredible ding dong. I hate shouting. I hope they sort put whatever shiz is going on because that's been the second night in a row. Really nice people so something must be very up.

I have been running around / sitting under a snoozing / upset baby mostly today so I haven't commented on much. I shall rectify post haste.

You might be right VQ.

Evilwater · 28/07/2013 20:12

What a morning!
Fed N breakfast and it all came back up again! Of course smelling very acidic again. Then as I was cleaning him, he weed on me! Grr... Angry the ready of the day was wonderful, P played with him and spent time with him.

I'm off to lie, and get baby gavision tomorrow, as well as seeing the GP at some point during the week.

Off to read the thread!
Evil

YellowWellies · 28/07/2013 20:26

Good for you on the infant gaviscon Evil it's worth a try! Glad the rest of your day was lovely.

Pass eeeek on neighbour fights - not cool Sad . I will add toe biting to the repertoire and see how that works on him.

Right I'm off to watch the series finale of the Returned Smile

Evilwater · 28/07/2013 20:29

Sorry to read about all the non settling babies.

As for the next car seat I have NOT got a clue.

I think it's time for a SW meet.

Evil

Passmethecrisps · 28/07/2013 20:30

do not tell me what happens as I have it on order from love film!

Thank you!!

itsnotyouitsMeals · 28/07/2013 20:35

Anyone fancy a game on wwf? Am mealswords.

Sorry to hear of p's teary day pass. evil I can send you gaviscon if you want it.

Kyzordz · 28/07/2013 20:36

Evening everyone!

chasing I shall get him some raspberries and blackberries I think :) I am trying to talk myself into crinkle cut apple sticks for breakfast. Stewed ones because I think raw is too hard still.

MM I wouldn't fancy a 3 door tbh, for the reasons det gave! I want a new car seat as I keep saying and have been looking at a maxi cosi one, can't remember which though!!!

That's brill news yw hope Jonas can tolerate things slowly added to his system via your diet :)

pass was going to suggest maybe her meds aren't right like vq said because can't reflux worsen when they're teething and things?

evil hope the IG helps N once you've got it :)

well E has been good today :) can 'crawl' very slowly, so he's snail boy now lol, it took him about 8 mins to do the length of the lounge but i'm so proud of him :)

stunt hope you get some sleep tonight (and everyone else for that matter!)

TheDetective · 28/07/2013 20:38

Can we talk birthday/christmas presents?!

Has anyone had any thoughts already? I usually start picking bits up next month as it makes it easier to budget. But obviously birthday/christmas are close together for O, so I will get stuff then just separate them at the time.

I know some people don't do gifts, but we do. I will get some second hand toys too. It's just I don't know what I want to get him Grin.

One thing I have thought of is a pop up tunnel and tent. They are only cheap. And he likes hiding!
