Kelle - are you using DD's old sleepsuits? I find that E is growing out of all her sleepsuits earlier than A did, yet according to my measurements she is slightly shorter than he was at each age... they definitely shrink!

Faith- Snuffly babies are such hard work, and I hate to say it, it doesn't get much better as they grow up! A still suffers overnight with any cold. Have you tried nurofen yet? It is a lot more effective generally than calpol, and it is also an anti inflammatory, so can help with a blocked up nose... just watch for any family allergies etc...

Aint - your DH sounds lovely!

HadALittleFaith · 21/09/2013 07:24

Well after 3 wake ups from 8-11 she then slept til 2, went back down in cot and woke at 5 (then I brought her in with me because I was too lazy to settle her again!). Amber I am off to Aldi today for their baby event and I've seen they have ibuprofen on offer so I'll get some. I'm asthmatic and it makes me wheezy but that only started a few years ago so I doubt it'll be a problem.

Ain't I agree your DH sounds fab!

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 21/09/2013 10:00

Kelle H has been in size 6-9 for a couple of weeks now. She's so long. She's between 50th and 75th in weight and 85th or 90th in length.

Thanks yes my DFiance is wonderful and is currently upstairs entertaining H with some comical noises and making her laugh at the dog (he has a guide dog).

She also slept from 12 to 4.30 and 5 til 9 so not too bad a sleep at all!

AmberLav · 22/09/2013 03:49

I wish we had a dog...! A is going through a typical 2 year old phase where he's obsessed with animals eating him! I think it's mainly about getting reassurance from us that animals won't eat them, as even snails are included in the list of things that might decide to try it! But he is particularly jumpy around dogs, and I can't think of anyone I know who has any dog, let alone a fairly peaceful one to give him some exposure...

AmberLav · 24/09/2013 03:06

Mum - are you still out there...? Not seem you on here for a while now...

birdbrain21 · 24/09/2013 15:06

aint baby bird is on the 9th centile for weight, not sure about length. She's now 23 weeks and still in age 0-3 months, although she does have a few things 3-6 that fit which is good because I was getting bored of her 0-3 clothes Wink

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 24/09/2013 17:05

Amber Oh DFiance's dog is the softest dog ever. He wouldn't hurt a fly! But he does get excited and runs about and chases his own tail, which I imagine if you are very little could be a bit startling. But the worst he will do is lick you to death (and give you his giant paw, which also could be a bit frightening to a little child).

Ah I am sure she'll catch up soon bird I had her check up today and now she is at the 75th in length, instead of higher so she's evening out now. She's still between 50th and 75th in her weight and 95th (!) in her head circumference.

But I am pleased she is ticking all the right boxes. They said I could start with some finger foods at any point now so going to let her have a little suck on a rusk later, like they recommended. It's amazing that up to 6 months they recommend only milk, then it seems like everything is OK at 6 months, it's pretty mad.

I think she'll love harder solids though, as she always tries to reach for my sandwich/cake/biscuit if I have one in my hand. She knows food as whenever I am eating and put the spoon or fork in my mouth, she opens her mouth too :)

They also commented on how vocal she is (she is a big talker) and how cheerful she is. So very happy she is such a pleasant child. Though she has started to cry if she has a toy fall on the floor or moved away from her that she wants to play with, so no doubt more crying because she wants something is going to happen pretty soon! Even the bottle couldn't come to her mouth quick enough and she began to make that cry!

What foods has anyone else tried with their little ones?

Mama1980 · 24/09/2013 18:35

Hi trying to catch up with the thread, sorry I haven't managed too get photos up on fb, I will try promise Grin I hope everyone is well?
We are all doing well, Alex is amazing, he went for another check up today, he has them every 4 weeks at least and everything looks great. One of the nurses in nicu saw us and actually cried to see him doing so well, She told me she held the tube to inflate his lung after he was born and before I had even seen him, she had never seen such a tiny baby fight to breathe as he did. So of course I started crying which left Alex and ds1 staring at us both like we had lost our minds!
He is still small but is gaining weight, well and eating everything and anything now, he will steal my food if I'm not quick. I have to record his food intake minutely as we are taking part in a prem baby study with the preemie nutritionist.
I am trying to get brave enough to start putting together for him a book of his first year, with photos etc. has anyone else done this? My brother thankfully took hundreds of pics for us both though I can't bear to look at them. I do one for each of my children on their birthday every year so want to try, (even dd who tells me she's now far too old Grin)

We have a dog a 2 year old springer x lurcher and she has just been properly 'discovered' by Alex who luckily adores her she Is as soft as butter and surgically attached to ds1. She grew up with him so is used to a certain amount of patting and grabbing which she actively seeks out! Grin I forget what life was like without her she is the gentlest creature ever but equally no one gets near the children without my telling her it's ok, she's not aggressive but she carefully puts herself in between them and any visitors unless I tell her otherwise.

AmberLav · 25/09/2013 03:32

I even more want a dog after reading this! Sadly as we both work, it's not yet suitable - my sister is a satm, and has forever been promising her two a dog "next year"! I've asked the 11 year old if she ever thinks she's going to get a dog, and she's said no! I'd love them to get a dog soon, as I want to play with it!

E is is a mixture of sizes, but sleepsuits have been 6-9 months for a while - I must remember to measure her as some as I can find where the 2 year old put the measuring tape, as she was 5 months yesterday.

Mama it's lovely to hear how Alex is doing - I think I only found the baby group at about the time he was born, when we'd just had our 20 week scan, and it's just amazing how well he has coped with his early birth. How are you doing now? Any improvement in your legs?

HadALittleFaith · 25/09/2013 07:27

Oh Mama well done Alex and you! Such a little fighter from the off. I love the idea of you and the nurses crying ahold he looks bemused!

I take a photo every day and upload it to a FB group for family and close friends to see. I am hoping to do it for a year and then have a photo book made.

On dogs, DH would love one. I would not! He did see about two Boxers who needed rehoming but there's no way I'd manage with that! Also we both work long days, not fair on a dog to be on its own that long.

Argh, I'm so tired. Faithlet's sleep has got worse and worse! She used to sleep through from 9-6, started asking again at 4, then the last fortnight it's been 2-3 times a night. Last night was every 2 hours!

Mama1980 · 25/09/2013 07:51

Thanks yep I look at him everyday and still can't believe it, he doesn't understand why sometimes I just grab him and hold tight. Grin
I'm ok thanks, my legs will never be totally normal but they are much improved I can walk with a stick now just not for ages so I still use a wheelchair about half the time. I still have physio twice a week, and regular check ups as well but have put on weight finally so look more human again :)
Alex still doesn't sleep much he wakes very two hours the longest he ever has slept for is 4 hours, and he doesn't really nap anymore. Warm water does make him tired though so I try to give him a soak before bed.

What toys are everyone else loving at the moment? Alex is obsessed with a glow worm thing we have at the moment it too hard for him to press so he just grabs at it screeching waiting for someone to make it light up and sing.

Has anyone started Christmas shopping yet? The bargain thread on here is great if you haven't found it yet.

Mama1980 · 25/09/2013 07:52

Faith have you started weaning yet? Could be that change maybe effecting her sleep.

HadALittleFaith · 25/09/2013 08:07

She's only 23 weeks so haven't really started weaning yet. Have offered her a couple of bits which she's grabbed and shoved in her mouth! She can sit in the high chair so I guess she's about ready. I think I need to encourage her to feed in the day more. Also she has a formula bottle top up in the evening. We've been offering 3-4oz, she used to faff on that but lately she's taken it all. Last night she took 5oz so I think tonight we'll offer her 6!

Sounds like you're doing really Mama! You've come so far too :)

Toys wise, still liking the baby gym. Soft building blocks from Mothercare - we build them, she knocks them down! - Lamaze dolly. Think we will buy her an animal train though I might get the Disney one! Dnephew had one at that age and he loved it!

HadALittleFaith · 25/09/2013 08:07

Oh I meant the train for Christmas!

AmberLav · 26/09/2013 03:14

Faith - E has now gone back to a 8pm to 3am sleep pattern after about 3 weeks of upset, so I think maybe she had a cold or even maybe hit a wonder week... I laughed last night, she woke at about 1am, but she settled herself back off, but under the system, DH settles her before roughly 2am, so the poor thing woke and had mummy and daddy each going "well it's not my turn!"

I've also started making sure she's having both sides before I let her back to bed, and that seems to help her to stay off longer..

HadALittleFaith · 26/09/2013 06:52

Well last night she took 9oz formula - 6oz before bath, 3oz after then BF both sides. Settled at 8 but still woke at 10. However I'm 99% sure now that it's teething. Gave her calpol and bonjela and she slept for 4 hours. Still woke 3 more times but was settled with a very quick feed twice and cuddles and calpol once. Based on how quickly she fed then went back to sleep she's only feeding for comfort.

Yesterday we had all the signs of teething - red cheeks, dribble and chewing everything she could find. Thank goodness I just bought a Sophie giraffe for her! I realised this morning we also have ibuprofen so I will give her some of that too tonight.

Mumof3xx · 26/09/2013 09:13

Hello all!
Well we have just been busy busy busy here! Back at work 2-3 days per week. Elder two dc back at school. Dd nearly six months and wiggling and rolling all over the show! She can get around quite well now I suspect she will be army crawling soon!
Still in her 5th wonder week leap which has ment 4am wake ups for us but today she went right through to the usual 6am! Was lovely!
Getting weighed later, but her in her 6-9 clothes a week ago but she already fills the next stuff well - tesco sizes seem abit bigger and do bury her slightly!
We are now on 3 lots of solids a day and still 30-35 oz of formula. I am going to be introducing finger foods next week! Exciting!
Argos are doing 3 for 2 on toys until 1st oct so i am going to get some more Xmas presents in that. I spent £100 in it last time they did it and got 3 presents for each of the dc which I thought was good. Saved at least £50.
Dd so far has a my first dolly and pram walker and the fisher price sit and stand giraffe (for Xmas)
ATM she loves her crinkly book, and anything she can chew!

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 26/09/2013 10:23

H has Sophie too ad uses her to good effect.

Last night she was dreadful with the teething. One of her back teeth is coming through before her front ones and it's literally 'just there' it could come through any minute. She was in hysterics with the discomfort last night though, so we got her paracetamol and she slept from 12 til 6 Smiles.

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 26/09/2013 11:07

and even.

Mumof3xx · 26/09/2013 11:19

What is Sophie?

HadALittleFaith · 26/09/2013 13:01

Sophie the giraffe teether
mini Sophie

We went to a sensory group this morning, she loved it! Lots of smiles and then conked from a nap walking home. Really liked the Mums there too :)

AmberLav · 27/09/2013 02:48

I seem to have the only two children in the world that are a bit ambivalent about Sophie!

I've got Eve's first play sing and sign today, which should be fun!

Good to have you backMum!

Mumof3xx · 27/09/2013 14:29

Can I ask what is different between Sophie and any old teether?
Back on 4.30 am wake up today. Yawn.

HadALittleFaith · 27/09/2013 15:01

I've tried several teethers before and Faithlet a. Can't hold them and b. Can't really get her chops round them (because she's quite dinky!). With Sophie she can grab hold of it, pull it to her mouth and chew to her heart's content. We had a 2.40am wake up call that lasted over an hour

AintNobodyGotTimeFurThat · 27/09/2013 22:33

H loves Sophie and she squeaks which makes her laugh as it excites the dog :)
