This thread's topic is what size of nappies are your babies in? And how are the cloth bum babies doing?

Oh yes, the jelly tot! Is it any worse today PP?

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2013 08:55

I was thinking of you yesterday GT when I was wrestling with J and his nappy, and wondering how you would manage. It will be so wonderful having them so close in age. Not long now x it will all be worth it.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2013 08:56

J was up at 3 and nearly rocked back to sleep. He then decided as he was up he fancied a wee nibble and drained a 9 oz bottle.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 09:31

Hoist up your judgey pants people. I have just given LO some diluted fruit juice. In a bottle. Shock

It's very hot here already and she hardly drank any milk yestserday and won't drink water. Sippy cups are ok but too luch fun and she loves splashing it. And I am not cleaning up sticky juice from the floor, walls and myself again.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 10:06

Ok, I was expecting to hear the pinging of knicker elastic by now. Tsk.

There is a huge fuck off wasp in my house. Am trying not to panic DD1 who is following it around going 'big fly, big fly' waving wildly. I had an allergic reaction to a wasp sting once, and am terrified of them. They are evil bastards.

Kyzordz · 08/07/2013 10:14

morning all :) good night here, 8-6:30 then 7-8 because he fell asleep after his bottle. he ate breakfast too but only because he was distracted with a toy Blush . Brew for the bad nights

pp you are certainly not crap! quiche fish heading your way!

thanks pass for the steaming apple info

it makes sense that heat makes them less bothered with eating. eliza that makes perfect sense, eric loves yoghurt and usually fruit puree so gets offered one after tea so I know he's had something. It did worry me when friday he would not even eat yoghurt but he did yesterday

ugh bplp it sounds like hospitals in the heat are not the place to work! hope the nursery session goes well :)
glad you and j are feeling better vq hope dd2 isn't coming down with anything

glad you had a good weekend kirrin

must be a nightmare being pregnant in this heat gt make sure you drink plenty and rest as much as you can won't you?

stunt thats so sad :( send your sil our love won't you, that must've been very tough for her :(

pr it's important she drinks :) e likes diluited fruit juice too, has it with meals

what's everyone up to today?

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 10:38

It's a fucking hornet and it won't fuck off.

YellowWellies · 08/07/2013 10:53

PR if Jonas didn't like water I'd do the same! It's too hot to risk dehydration.

BP good luck at the nursery today.

Stunt Sad that's so sad - poor SIL. Every time Jonas wakes up late and it's 8.40 and there's silence from his room I fear the worst has happened and dread going in to check on him. When he shouts my relief is palpable. I had him at 36 weeks - can't imagine losing him just the week before Sad . VQ I too wonder if some of those who've lost touch with the quiche did so for dreadfully sad reasons. Stunt Hope the journey today is swift and painless and that it's OK for all when SIL meets your special alarm clock.

Calpol gave us a good night 8.15 - 3 - 8.45 Smile

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2013 11:14

I wondered the same. At one point of the ante natal group there were almost 100 of us. Lots of love to your SIL stunt. I have been giving P extra long cuddles this morning.

Jelly tot leg sounds awful PP.

I must tidy this house up. The piles of shiz have to stop. I have just removed a pile of magazine from P's wandering fingers. In amongst the pile was: a screwdriver, a pair if scissors, two batteries, a battery charge and a piece of slate. It's a serious accident waiting to happen.

I am categorically not blaming DH as I am just as bad but his stuff just tends to be more dangerous. He lives in a never never land where we actually have places for things to go. So he uses a screwdriver then leaves it lying around because he is planning to tidy his tools up and there is no point in putting it away until then. I am currently looking at another screwdriver sitting on the telly unit. My piles of TESS magazines don't pose quite such an immediate risk really.

I just can't believe how quickly p can move now. And she is now absolutely determined to stand. This means nothing is safe from wee hands. She will try to push herself up on anything - including the ageing cat.

StuntNun · 08/07/2013 11:20

I may not be able to say anything to SIL as she doesn't seem to want to talk about her loss. It's a shame as I had a MC in Dec 2011 and I know some of what she is going through, not as traumatic perhaps but there are parallels between our experiences. My DS1 and DS2 are looking forward to seeing their cousin again an apparently we are to be roped in for babysitting duties while we are there. Maybe they think with three boys already we'll hardly notice a 5yo sneaked into our brood! It's so lovely to be back in Scotland. DH and I lived in Fife for eight years so it seems like we're coming home.

OP posts:
Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2013 11:34

stunt I get that. I am not sure there are the words.

Bit Hmm that you have got babysitting duties though. Is that how it works?

Any tips for keeping the house cool today? Currently it is still cloudy so I have every window in the house thrown wide open. I have just drawn the blinds and curtains upstairs though. Do I leave the windows open? Thinking about asking DH to bring home a big fan.

Did I mention that I don't like this heat?

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 12:07

Leave the windows open but block the sun with curtains, or, in my case, shutters. A fan might help keep the air moving round. Luckily here there is a breeze which is helping. Bastard insects are invading the house though.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 12:13

I hate the heat too. I hate the fact the kids can't sleep properly, get grumpy, sweaty and lose their appetite but still feel hungry iyswim.

It's impossible to explain to them why they are feeling so bad, but it isn't their fault of course. So you just have to suck it up, despite the fact you can't sleep, eat properly and feel grumpy and sweaty yourself.

And I hate the fucking insects.

BigPigLittlePig · 08/07/2013 12:32

Just got back from a morning swim at the local open air pool - F loved it, and is now flaked out in her car seat. Going to have lunch in a bit then off to nursery Confused.

PR hornets are not nice, one year on holiday in France we had a particular problem with them, and would have to remove a couple from our gite every day. Currently here, we have an invasion of spiders

Stunt enjoy your break - glad the crossing went ok. Is your SIL going to offer to return the babysitting favour?! Very sad to lose a baby so late on in pg - there's a bit of an assumption that once you get beyond the 20 week scan, everything will be ok, but of course it isn't always Sad

Pidj hope you're feeling a bit better about things today, and the jelly tot is getting sorted.

Pass our house is similarly perilous, although mercifully there are no small objects lying around, as we have had to cat proof the place. Good luck training dh!

Chasing I'll join in your sniggers at SILs predicament (sorry GT, you have sympathies). Someone I work with is 41.5 weeks pg now, and hating every minute. Must be bloody awful to be that size in this heat.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 12:38

Good luck at nursery pig

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2013 12:45

Thank you PR. Every blind and curtain is drawn so fingers crossed. I grew up on th coast where it was always mild - never very cold and never very warm. It normally wouldn't be bothering me really - just an excuse to sit outside and drink white wine - but I feel such a responsibility to keep P comfy. DH's sis has a place in France - proper shutters there keep the inside beautifully cool.

Not keen on bugs either really but it's not a massive issue. I really don't want P to pick up any fears of bugs. Seeing the chaos which is a classroom of 11 year olds in the company of a wasp is enough to make anyone tough in the face of critters!

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2013 12:46

And good luck BP. Remember, nothing can be as bad as the horrid bizzum you had before

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 12:47

Bizzum? That's a new word.

BigPigLittlePig · 08/07/2013 12:58

F will at least be in the best possible mood for nursery, as she is still asleep now, after 90 minutes. Thanks for all the good wishes, she should be fine today as I don't actually leave her. I'm just being all wibbly.

Pass = quiche dictionary Grin

Passmethecrisps · 08/07/2013 13:10

Bizzum is a jockaneze word I think. Usually said like this "ya wee bizzum!"

I have no idea what the word actually means but I would use it usually to describe children being naughty.

I shall go and investigate

PetiteRaleuse · 08/07/2013 13:18

Well we are all Scottish today Wink so I shall add it to my vocabulary.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2013 13:20

Bizzum refers to a cheeky female I believe.

ValiumQueen · 08/07/2013 13:22

Annoying person according to google.

PurplePidjin · 08/07/2013 13:28

Fluid in =good!

Jelly tot leg deflated when i dabbed it with teatree, but reinflated over night then oozed when i took the dressing off Envy it now has an iodine patch for 3 days and penicillin x4 a day

TheDetective · 08/07/2013 14:09

I'm sat at sports day. Crisping up further...

Left O at home. He's very miserable today.

Think he has hayfever. He has a GP appt later as they won't give me a repeat of the ranitidine cunts .

Will ask then. His eyes are sore and red. And yet again as soon as the warm weather arrives his nose is streaming. He hasn't got a cough. And Calpol did fuck all.
