My money's on beansbaby coming at 6.30am on Friday morning Grin

Rubena · 11/09/2013 18:08

I've missed ds hons, but not missed the two of them squabbling! They do often play nicely together, but when they are tired, they start at it.... it's funny though, as ds hasn't ever experienced being with me when dd is at nursery, so he was all weirded out and asking me when we are going to get dd, and if she was ok - very sweet. It's nice though like you say, as we've had lunches together and shopped etc.
I'm quite excited though at being able to use my time to get a little bit fit - determined to keep it up all through awful Winter!

DD was so tired this afternoon, and ratty, and I got cross and told her to go to bed at 330! Not actually thinking she would. And she did! Had to wake her at 445pm for dinner and now in fear of her bouncing off walls, although, I doubt it as she's still got seal bark cough and is congested so expect is still tired.

beans37 · 11/09/2013 18:10

I'd love the baby to come tomorrow as its my Granny's 95th birthday, so it would be rather magic. Although Granny is totally oblivious in the world of dementia, but she might understand for a few moments and be pleased.

beans37 · 11/09/2013 18:12

Wow, Rubes, that's a sure sign of needing sleep!! I always feel like I missed out on getting time off in the day times as DD2 gave up sleeping in the day at 16 months!! Not long after DD1 did hers. 4 months after her in fact as she didn't give up til she was 2.5!!!

Rubena · 11/09/2013 18:20

Yes this is a one off beans. She hasn't been having naps since about 18 months I think. I remember she wasn't sleeping well so I cut it out after talking to you! Now she sleeps brilliantly.

beans37 · 11/09/2013 18:27

Yes, I remember those chats. Was v jealous when it worked for you and DD2 only started sleeping through in about February this year!! And clever me, am about to plunge myself back into exhaustion when I've got a taste for good sleep!! Fool.

Rubena · 11/09/2013 18:34

Oh I didn't realize. Thought you'd had sleep sorted at that time too. Never mind, you'll be right back into it in a few hours possibly! Wink

beans37 · 11/09/2013 21:27

Not feeling good tonight. About to have a hot bath and then go to bed.

Vag, expect you're in bed by now, non??

Trying to stop the girls from sucking their thumbs as dentist said their adult teeth are going to come through wonky. They both have plasters on their thumbs tonight! Bet it doesn't work. Bum!

JamInMyWellies · 11/09/2013 21:41

Didn't sybs have some sort of weird strapping contraption she used for her thumb sucker?

JamInMyWellies · 11/09/2013 21:43

Oh and feel better maybe tonight's the night. If you are feeling crappy we can bin off tom. Just drop me a text. X

Vagolajahooli · 11/09/2013 22:12

I'm here Beans you ok? Are you feeling icky since dinner? I was not able to eat any protein rich meals towards the end, quiche, bean tortillas, chick pea currysall came back up at around 1am. I was actually on steamed veg and rice for most of DS2's third trimester

Vagolajahooli · 11/09/2013 22:15

Oh and I sucked my thumb and needed braces, that's all. With the tooth brushing we do their teeth at night and they do the morning, partly to get them done properly once a day and partly because they get tired and lazy at night. In Australia there was a tooth brushing song about brushing up & down and round and round so it's kind of drilled into me. Though ds2 doesn't like round & round.

Beans lovey, that's such a pre-baby thing. I had to dash off and vomit Hmm halfway through showing round the interview candidates for my own maternity cover, and E arrived 48 hours later.

Yikes Rubes, no naps since 18mo?! And beans none since 16 mo? Crikey. E may wake up at 6am, but she will at least reliably have an hour and a half kip every day - even if it's late (eg sometimes 3-4.30 at the weekend) she's still ready fof bed in the evening. Will prob be asking for advice soon on how to wean her off it... But they still have a rest at nursery.

Did anyone else have quiet time with heads on desks at primary school?! I remember that - heads down for half an hour after lunch.

Ah tooth brushing. It's got with E that I have to either get her in a headlock, or do the "toothbrush fairy" who for some reason (probably Wine on a particularly bad night, ahem) has a terrible Father Ted accent and is all "oh let's brush these little teeth shall we now?"

beans37 · 12/09/2013 07:36

No news! Terrible Braxton Hicks but that's all. Even thought it was time to call the midwife. Again. It's so very dull!

DeidreBarlow · 12/09/2013 08:35

Beans could it not be actual contractions? Sorry despite having 2 children I never really had the contraction thing or Braxton Hicks (that I knew of) BlushConfused

Funnily enough I was at the Dentist with the DC's yesterday too! All good, lots of nice praise for their brushing which was good to know. Like vag I let them do it in a morning, although I do still help DS a bit. Then evening I usually go over what they have done to ensure a thorough brush Grin. I've always used normal toothpaste too. Just much smaller amounts. My dentist never rated kids toothpastes saying that they get used to the flavour of it and then hate normal toothpaste which could affect them brushing at a later date.

Right had more to say but school run beckons!

JumpJockey · 12/09/2013 08:47

Beeeeans... That is exactly what I thought with E - BH and feeling poorly, turned out to be the start of labour. On baby watch here!

JamInMyWellies · 12/09/2013 09:12

We too were at the dentist yesterday!!

Beans my love I am sure you are in early labor. Go to bed rest and put your feet up.xx

Oh but obviously come back and do a live birthing thread. Grin

Rubena · 12/09/2013 09:17

Woohoo !!! Baby beans shortly! It's time! It's time! ??

Artijoke · 12/09/2013 09:49

Go Beans! Go Beans!

N did not cry at drop off today. Woo-hoo!

DS woke up nine times in the night and rose for the day at 5am. I need to do something as he doesn't settle back in his cot after night wakings. The girls always fed in the night at this age (4 months) but they went straight back down. I cannot co-sleep, I don't feel rested when I try. It's too early for Mrs Sleep though so I may have to shamble along for another couple of months.

Vagolajahooli · 12/09/2013 09:50

Beans surely those hicks could be un-established labour. From early unestablished labour to birth took me about 12 hours but your a quickie so you could be even sooner!

Deids I still remember your waters breaking mid post. Classic December 08 thread moment.

With the dentist thing when ds1 went along they found some of his adult molars had come through so they put some covering thing on them. Apparently its a really good idea. Speaking of dentists my BIL is a dentist. I have told him & dh that I don't want him being the boys dentist. I don't mind them being seen at his surgery but not for him to actually treat them. I don't think it's a good idea for the person who has to drill fillings or take teeth out is also a relative. Anyway he wrote a post on FB saying he was looking forward to us coming back and being able to fix the boys cavities. Now a) they don't have any cavities, they have great teeth albeit a bit wonky for ds1 & b) I've told him no, he was a bit grumpy when I told him a few years ago and seemed to be a brush it off. But that's fair enough isn't not to want an uncle doing painful tooth stuff. I figure I'm doing for their relationship!

Arti all I can do is sympathise, you know your options and you know it will eventually end and you will sleep again one day. You have my sympathy though, wish I could make you a cuppa.

OP posts:
beans37 · 12/09/2013 10:07

Oh Arti, the horrors of not enough sleep! It will pass, but that's of little consolation when you're flicking knackered!

Vag, I'd agree about not having a relation treating your kids. If they do need fillings etc ever, they'll associate it with him. He will get over it. Stick to your gums guns.

So sorry not to be seeing you today, Jam, but I am currently lying on the sofa with my feet up and it is marvellous. I've got til 1pm. Intend to only move to go to the loo! Sadly, our heating is broken, which is a total hassle. Have rung plumber and they are trying to treat me like an emergency as am so heavily pregnant. Our room is meant to be 25 degrees for the baby and currently its pretty nippy. Lets hope they can come soon.

Al quiet on the Braxton Hicks front. I wonder if I'm maybe just hoping so much that the baby is about to come that I'm imagining these symptoms! Although the plug definitely did come out... I'm hallucinating everything else!!! Eek!

JumpJockey · 12/09/2013 10:10

Arti have you tried a sidecar cot, rather than having him right in the bed? That way if he falls asleep al boobo, you can gently shuffle him sideways and then you're safe to fall asleep without worrying about squishng him. Unfortunately we passed ours on but you can find them on ebay fairly cheap in case it doesn't work out.

Sorry for random double post.

Beans, hope the plumber gets there soon! Are you def trying for a HB? Soo exciting!
