nice that dh thinks I need a break. Just having a wobble as i've been hanging with them both for most of the week for 5 years, and now it'll be me and the dog Bear (bet she's thankful to have her mummy back!)

Rubena · 02/09/2013 09:59

I'm here Arti!!

actually I'm sitting here now in peace. I suspect I'll take to this like water off a ducks back! Especially when my leg is normal again and I can get to the gym or outside with the dog. I have always had Mondays with them both at preschool anyway! I think it's me sad to say goodbye to the key workers. I didn't realize ds's lovely key worker would be on hols this week and we / he wouldn't see her but I'll get her a little present today, and I suspect I'll see her at the big school gates, as her son goes to ds's school!

Rubena · 02/09/2013 10:27

Yipee dh court case settled so impromptu lunch!

beans37 · 02/09/2013 10:30

Rubes, DD2 has been in for 4 mornings a week for the last 2 terms. This term she is doing 4 mornings and 2 afternoons as well! So I am a heartless witch! But she juts LOVES it. Come January, she will be at nursery/preschool and will be in 5 mornings and 2 afternoons. DD1 only did that last term, so am bundling DD2 off early, but figure I'll need the time.

Am having proper home birth wobbles, just because of childcare. I really want my Mum to come up and help with the girls, but I don't want them to hear me labouring, so think it might be best if I go into hospital. Then Mum can stay here and take them to and from school etc. so their routine isn't fecked up either. Got midwife this pm, so will speak to her about it, and am booked in to see the hospital on Saturday for a tour.

Wonder if the baby will come soon. Keen to get on with it.

DeidreBarlow · 02/09/2013 11:54

Arti the age difference between you'd girls is the same as between DD & DS! Just ironed all his uniform and feeling a bit Sad. Can't wait for him to start and some me time but its a bit weird thinking my baby is starting school! Rubes I think I go a bit crazy being with the DCs all the time. Not just you!! As sad as I am about him starting I know that in a few weeks once I'm back into the routine I will live having Monday/Friday to me. Even if it is just cleaning without DS following me around.

Beans I can understand why you wouldn't want a HB with the girls about. But have a good chat with the MW & then decide. Glad you had a good nights sleep too.

Rubes re my knee. I just paid got a one of consultation with a diets therapist. I had done something to the ligament in my knee IIRC. basically he said running is a huge impact on the joints and as my thighs/quads/all leg muscles need to be built up too to support the knee joint. Told me to ice it constantly & told me various exercises to build up leg strength. Started them after a couple weeks, then did a few walks, power walk and gradually built back up including starting C25K again as it meant I didn't have to run all the time. Thankfully it all worked out. Only problem I did have was once I started running again I was quite scared of my knee going again so my fair was wonky and I hurt my hip!! With that I just braved running properly but slowly. Once I knew the knee would hold I just cracked on.

DeidreBarlow · 02/09/2013 11:55

Sports physio. Seriously predictive spelling is rubbish!!!

DeidreBarlow · 02/09/2013 11:56

Gait was wonky. FFS!!!

3 & I'm out.....

Mckayz · 02/09/2013 13:24

Beans, if you labour overnight you'll probably be fine. The boys slept through me having DD.

Rubena · 02/09/2013 17:46

Ah thanks deids. Yes I'm seeing a sports physio lower limb specialist. Good thing is that at least I know it's not bad, as the ultrasound showed no structural damage at all, not even any inflammation! Hmm
Drove in to drop of transfer casing and got refund then dh called to say his court case has settled and they had forgotten to inform him Friday. Result, as less than 48hrs notice cancellation and he can bill for full days time so pleased and went to lunch instead Grinnow we are at our 2nd pub meal of the day [glutons]. Have collected kids and dd had a lovely day at new nursery.
Was sad to say goodbye at ds's nursery but I suspect my wobbles this morning was more about that Hmmdd came along and gave her teacher a present too.
So beans when you say mornings plus afternoons do you just mean full days? I suspect you will need it too!!! I'm already fine with dd and her 2.5 days and she's only had her first day today!!

ZuleikaJambiere · 02/09/2013 19:29

Hi, just popping in wish everyone very happy first days at school this week. I can't believe we've got this far Shock

DH is away tonight, so I'll return later to read through and catch up

Vagolajahooli · 02/09/2013 21:06

Hoi hoi. Sorry I'm so far behind, I've only just read this last page.

Sorry your having wobbles Rubes, I think it's fair enough. Both boys are back at school today and I miss them already. Ds2 has been at big school for six months now and I'm loving it, but do miss my babies.

Beans can your mum take them somewhere else? Or can they have a sleep over somewhere. Our house was small and dh didn't want to have to be looking after me and ds1 while I was in labour, so our friends came and picked him up in the morning so we could just get on with getting ds2 out. I can't recommend home birth enough. But if you're not comfortable with it then maybe it's best to go with the hospital.

So we are all back and settled now after Australia & Austria. Loved the last week, we had a brilliant time, swimming in a local lake, going up to a glacier, a forest walk archery course, the coolest mini golf course, it was awesome. The kids loved it. We also drank lots of beer and ate way too much.

Evening all,

Beans What did the midwife say? I can understand you not wanting the girls there. Is there a midwife led unit near you? Otherwise can you not suggest things your mum does with the girls? Soft play? Tea at a friends house? Then home for a film snuggled up in grandma's room? I suppose it is hard with school settling etc.

Rubes Dd2 is not 3 till Feb but she's in 2 days while I'm at work. I know that I'll be sad when they are both at school but I'll settle well into having more time for myself! I'd like to get a dog at that point. I'm trying to wear dh down but he has never had a dog and concentrates on the downsides like moulting and poo.

Dd1 is staying with her grandparents for a couple of days and it is very odd only having dd2 here. We skyped her earlier and it is very sweet hearing them chatting about their days. It is a nice stage they are at where they enjoy the same activities, toys and tv programmes. I'm a bit sad that this all might change with school influences.

Talking of which we have our teacher visit on Thursday. I must do some dusting!

poisondwarf · 03/09/2013 06:42

Hiya all. Very quickly popping on for a bit of moral support as DD starts school today. Boo hoo. Just hope I don't blub too much in the playground.

Hope everyone else has lovely first days whenever they are. Just think how impossibly far away this day seemed when we started posting and yet it seems to have raced by. It'll be secondary school before we know it. Sob.

Off work this week so hoping to get back and post properly at some point. Hope you're all well.

beans37 · 03/09/2013 07:00

I'll post more later, but DD1 has woken up with blisters on and up her nose. Any idea what they might be?

JamInMyWellies · 03/09/2013 07:01

Lots of love and luck to our little scholars today. And everyone enjoy the peaceful houses come 9.15. Grin

Mckayz · 03/09/2013 07:01

Impetigo?

Artijoke · 03/09/2013 07:07

Good luck mini-PD! Who else starts today? We have until Thurs but DD2 wants to wear her uniform today. We are going horse riding as a last summer treat.

Beans, it could well be impetigo which is highly infectious and would mean no school. Google pictures and see what you think.

Nolda · 03/09/2013 07:14

Good luck to those Dec 08 babies starting school this week. DS doesn't start until Monday. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of cute photos on Facebook.

Beans, I hope it isn't impetigo and DD recovers soon.

Rubena · 03/09/2013 07:19

Hi PD!!!! Good luck at school today's mini starters. Day 1 Thurs here.
Sounds like impetigo possibly Beans? Can get cream for it if so.

Mckayz · 03/09/2013 07:30

Good luck all school starters. DS2 starts next Monday. But DS1 is back today.

beans37 · 03/09/2013 07:50

Yes! Good luck to all! DD1 due to start tmw, but if its impetigo, it won't be! Suspect it is that, so off to GP this morning. Bugger. Hope it doesn't last.

ShadyLadyT · 03/09/2013 10:08

You are not alone PD, another school starter here! Took DD1 over this morning and DP had booked the day off as he decided he wanted to take her over as well. She was as happy as larry, which was great. Attending the pre-school that is attached to the school means she is very familiar with Class 1 and the teachers so that is smashing. I think I might have been upset were it not for the fact that DP was there (helped me to keep a stiff upper lip) and also there was so much stuff to hand over that they have to have - PE kit, wellies and waterproofs, sunhat, waterbottle for at their desks, lunch and labelled mid-morning fruit, book bag...that I didn't have time to think about a lump in my throat. DD2 has increased her pre-school to Tues morn and Fri morn so she was also off today. It'll be strange for her because she has always had her sister and her sister's friends to pal around with. Not that I am worried. Unlike DD1 she is no shrinking violet...

Haven't got time to catch up now but I shall be later on. Love to all.

ShadyLadyT · 03/09/2013 10:09

I hope DD1 is ok, Beans. Doesn't sound like much fun.

beans37 · 03/09/2013 11:43

It is impetigo. Nuts. Just hope it's one of the schools that will take her even if she has it. On antibiotics now. Just think it'll be rubbish for her to miss her first day with all her nursery pals. The nurse said that it would be ok for her to go, but I think schools have a view on it!

Lady, it does sound busy with loads of stuff to remember. I must get everything ready the night before. I am rubbish at that sort of thing! Jealous your DP went with you. Would be magic if DH came too. DD1 would be so chuffed!

poisondwarf · 03/09/2013 11:45

Well I managed not to shed a tear but have just spent a few minutes moping. DD didn't bat an eyelid and neither did any of the others - very different from what I remember when DS started. There seemed to be a lot of inconsolable DCs then. Still, DD is in the older intake - perhaps there will be more upset once the younger ones start coming in.

LadyT hooray for a happy first day for DD1!

Nolda you will probably be sick of fb pictures of little people in uniform - I've totally overdone mine but I don't post pics of the DCs often I suppose.

Beans no idea about the blisters sorry.

Right, got to go and pick her up again now! Will try to get back on later.
