Deids but ah only 2 days is Nothing. I'm sitting here day 13 with only a slow 4km 5 days ago which prob didn't help. Silly thing is, I had 2 weeks off basically with just a couple of shuffles during our hols but I feel like this time I've undone everything. Haven't heard a word from dh after he emailed a colleague last night but I know I just have to be patient with it all. Hoping its on the road to sorting itself out as feels much better today. Otherwise will be poppi g in to hosp for a scan and a nasty injection to fix it fast. But yes dh can be a bit average when it comes to family medical help do I have no issue leaving him at a busy foreign airport next time he needs to get back for work if he's of no help to me Wink heck I even got the head of theaters duty free cigs (which i strongly oppose) my last trip when he requested so its the least they could do!
Yeah lady sorry was prob cryptic as we'd been keeping the talk to twitter. Don't know the cause but have sore hamstring due to possibly a number of reasons. Need biometrics check but can't until obviously no pain at all. Sounds like we are tempting you with our running talk! Don't worry there's a huge chance I look like phoebe from friends when I run (never seen myself obviously) but getting proper fitting shoes for even walking is essential. And I highly doubt anyone would think you're a nana! More likely intimidated by your class! Go for it. Poland sounded fab.
Oh and still haven't got to clarks. Am nervous as I rang to check they have in stock the size of trainers ds wants and had them held. They told me its VERY busy. I'm sat in the garden. Sun is positively glorious today!

Rubena · 28/08/2013 14:50

Oh and shlady, did you watch that show the other night where Louise Redknapp tested all the anti aging products? That was the first I'd seen of that machine. To be honest I think it's all down to your genes, staying out of the sun, and product wise things like RetinA etc the only things that may actually help skin. But I think you are just talking about cleansing right? Guess I'm a little aware in getting on, so focusing on more now!
Ah Deids and sybs I didn't revisit your post on GBBO until now!!! Wow what a following! Will try watching it again. I do love a good interactive Facebook sesh!
Where's our Vag? I do miss the other Aussie being around to validate some I'd the things I say!
Right, might actually brave it to Clarks......

ShadyLadyT · 28/08/2013 15:18

I think it cleanses and exfoliates and generally rejuvenates. But it's too £££! I didn't see that show. I'm off to a Clarks outlet store tomorrow for cheaper ones - it will be Bedlam!

DeidreBarlow · 28/08/2013 17:44

Ha ha rubes when I first started running I was convinced I looked like Jennifer Saunders in Ab Fab!!! I bet you look gazelle likeGrin. Seriously though hope the legs improves soon. I hated being our if Action. Actually I had an ice pack that I used a lot, which really helped, dies DH recommend anything along those lines?? I seem to recall having my knee in ice for about 3 days. Although that nay have been completely the wrong thing to do (pre sports physio I saw). Right enough exercise talk here, I will Jezebel it to Twitter! Lets talk cake!!

DeidreBarlow · 28/08/2013 17:45

Jezebel ShockShockShockGrin

That shod say 'leave'. Piggin iPhone

beans37 · 28/08/2013 18:11

I can't join in any run chat. But I am feeling decidedly less full of self pity now. Always cheer up later in the day. Perhaps with imminent bedtime! Also did some retail therapy in Laura Ashley earlier and bought a couple of very nice lampshades, so am feeling all twee and pleased with myself.

Been having music appreciation society here with girls learning that they WILL love Take That. Oh and a good old sing a long to Skyfall, their hot fave!

beans37 · 28/08/2013 18:13

PS I have a book recommendation if anyone is interested. Have just started reading 'Ordinary Thunderstorms' by William Boyd and it is already incredibly gripping.

Rubena · 28/08/2013 18:13

Just back from clarks. And Morrisons show buying was trouble free since I'd already called ahead and they had the ones he wanted with the lights that "make him go faster than Joshy" Hmm morrisons traumatic as they would not stop messing about Angry

Deids yes ice def a recommendation esp if you've heard something pop! Thing is, mine was / has never been a proper sharp "holy crap I've just done something serious" type pain. It's a soreness and I've been terrified to make it worse. Ie I could run with it on 600mg ibuprofen but would prob make it worse. Seriously fed up though. I'd drink cat piss mixed with olive leaf extract and click my heels 3 times on the hour, if I thought it would wrap this up!
Anyway dh managed to get me seen either tmrw or Tues and hopefully if Tues it's improved enough to cancel by then. No drama from the colleague but geez a production to get dh to make a call. Thing is, he's not paid enough to get no perks!
He's told the guy to ultrasound it and inject it if necessary Blush already had one in my shoulder couple if years back - not fun. But hey ho sorry to bore you and I shall take this to the tweeters!

Rubena · 28/08/2013 18:14

Shoe buying not show. Although they did put on a show of awful behavior.

Rubena · 28/08/2013 18:15

Cp beans. Glad you're feeling better. My bet us Laura Ashley plus bedtime did it!

ShadyLadyT · 28/08/2013 20:32

Well, what does DH think it could be, Rubes? Sounds horrid.

I'm on Morrison's at the moment. They don't have any nr us but there's one but DP's Mum and they have purple potatoes, yellow courgettes and cauli, cavolo nero, and no end of sooper dooper veggies. They even had samphire but it was about £15 a kilo.

I really like William Boyd, Beans. Is it a new one? I'm having to read my next book club one which is An Atlas of Impossible Longing by somebody Roy (not Arundhati). It's set in India. Not that jazzed so far.

Anyone read anything good over the summer? I read Stoner. It was good but rather depressing.

Oh dear, I seem to have a glass of wine in my paw.

DeidreBarlow · 28/08/2013 20:45

I read a good crime thriller on holiday. Can't for the life of me remember who wrote it of what it was called. It was only something I picked up in WH Smiths, as is most of my reading material these days! I keep meaning to get a Kindle so I can upload books to if when I get a recommendation. Maybe for my birthday

Lady I'm resisting the temptation of having a wine in my paw tonight. My will is weakening by the second...

Artijoke · 28/08/2013 20:49

I've read a couple of great books this summer. I've just finished 'May We Be Forgiven' by A M Holmes. It reminded me of Johnathan Franzen's Corrections and I loved it. The new Khalif Hosseini was also a real page turner, I think it's called And The Mountains Echoed. Early in the summer I read Flight Behaviour by Barbara Kingsolver, I always love her stuff and I thought this one her second best after The Poisonwood Bible.

Terrible bedtime with DS tonight, he just would not settle having been a dream recently. I got so frustrated and went apeshit mad at DD1 who was not at fault at all. I am a bitch of a mother sometimes.

Honsandrevels · 28/08/2013 20:52

Hello everyone,

I've just had a good catch up with a mug of hot chocolate. Autumn must be coming.

Dd1 does one morning on the 11th and then in full time the week after. That seems quite late judging by some of you. Still need to get some uniform bits and hair cuts. My mum is doing all the name tag sewing. She offered!

Beans Just wait till your dh gets piles and then you can be entirely unsympathetic. They are agony. I remember sending my dh for some suppositories which one of you lovely ladies recommended.

LadyT I read The Night Circus which my SIL bought me. It was surprisingly gripping although the ending was a bit twee. I'm also working my way through Jan Morris's trilogy of the history of the British empire. It is fascinating.

We've had a few busy weekends catching up with friends we haven't seen for honks. There was some ridiculous competitive parenting nonsense going on though. One girlfriend of our male friend just goes on and on comparing her dd to her baby group friends. Her dd is 6 months Confused. Can you imagine how she is going to be in a few years?! Crazy!

Right I'm posting before I lose it.

Honsandrevels · 28/08/2013 20:59

Honks is yonks obv!

Our neighbours opposite, we don't know other than by sight, have a 14 yr old daughter who is keen to do some babysitting. She is only just 14 but her parents say one of them would be over the road if needed. The trouble is dd2 sometimes wakes up and I doubt she'd settle. Plus do we get her to come across before bedtime so the dd's know we are going out or what? I love the idea of a cheap babysitter on tap but am worried about the practicalities. Any thoughts?

ShadyLadyT · 28/08/2013 21:19

Actually Hons, our local babysitter is only about 15 but she is incredibly mature, her Mum is v local and responsible and the girls adore her. We don't use her that often (can't afford to go out that often!). I do let her put them to bed but must say they usually go down well. I say give it a whirl. That history of the British Empire sounds smashing.

Some lovely book reccos - thanks ladies.

sybilfaulty · 28/08/2013 21:23

Hons, teenage girls rock for babysitting. My lot all love the many teenagers we have used and to be honest there are problems so rarely that I would risk it. U have had to hotfoot it back from someone's house if one of the kids had a nightmare etc but very rarely. Until the kids were used to them I'd just use the young ones when I was local and the more expensive older ones for when I went into town. Frankly now I could use anyone as they are all very used to strange sitters. We do use sitters online too so we end up with people we meet in the night. Just get them to arrive half an hoy earlier then you get to have a shower while they charm the girls.

Bonus - their mums are often just over the road as double back up. Result.

sybilfaulty · 28/08/2013 21:24

Awful typos sorry

Rubena · 28/08/2013 21:40

Shady dh thinks I've got "biceps femoris tendinopathy" which sounds to me just a fancy name for tendinitis of the hamstring. So nothing major. He has also mentioned I have a chronic case of Hypochondriasis hystericus Hmm but I beg to differ! Ok I am quite the worrier, but actually I'm desperate to get back out there and not get injured any worse. He's also confused as has asked for pain level 1-10 but can't accurately gauge it as has admitted post CSs that my pain threshold seemed quite high as I didn't seem to suffer much Confused Going to join the gym earlier than planned i think, so I can do some swimming and cross trainer sooner, rather than joining later for the treadmill when the dark winter hits [sigh]

I have a wine in my paw.... Urgh. I drink so much more wine when I don't exercise but I know it doesn't help inflammation!

Right. Will stop now as I'm aware I've made this all about me Smile

Rubena · 28/08/2013 21:46

Hons cp
Hmm don't know. I'd say if patents over the road and she's responsible it's sounding doable however I'm a worrier - as stated in previous post, so I'd probably be on edge anyway. That said, when my bro was here his eldest was 14 and I would leave him in charge but of course he's a boy, hardly knows his cousins, did nothing but watch the ashes whilst here and is in a foreign country. When I booked sitters.co for the night they said I had to include him as their age goes up to 14 so anyone that age or under had to be included in the babysitters responsibility. Again, he's a boy, doesnt know the kids really, and his parent wasn't over the road - rather in some over priced bar then restaurant, then another bar until 5 in the morning. So I reckon if you're not a worrier - over thinker etc like me, it'll be fine!

Rubena · 28/08/2013 21:47

That was meant to read "I wouldn't leave him in charge"

beans37 · 28/08/2013 22:17

Hons, I'd go for it. Do the Sybs recommendation and get her half an hour or so earlier so you can get ready and hear her interacting with the kids, then you can head out with more peace of mind. I love our teenager and she currently will also do day times for me, so am in double love!

Thanks for book suggestions. I am going to purchase that Barbara Kingsolver one, as I loved the Poisonwood Bible. I'd also recommend Kingdom of Strangers by Zoe Ferraris. It's a crime/murder one, but set in UAE, so from a different cultural perspective. V interesting and thrilling.

Right, must go. Am in bed and terribly tired.

beans37 · 29/08/2013 10:06

Morning all. Just a morning quickie to say hello. Am feeling so much less blue this morning and more positive. Helps that I was asleep by 10.30 last night and didn't wake up (apart from a wee) til 7.30. Was quite magical. Feel so much happier as a result. Mind you, I haven't had to do a poo since the appearance of the piles from hell, so that may yet change my mind. Plus I have two lovely school friends coming round with their nippers today, which I'm really looking forward to. And I've cleaned the house and hung out the washing, so life is feeling infinitely more together. Hurrah.

How is everyone else?

Spot, how is your job going? Are you enjoying being back in the work place? How have the boys adjusted to your new role? How are you feeling?

ShadyLadyT · 29/08/2013 19:09

Is everyone all worn out with the chat yesterday? Grin How are you today? Braved the Clarks outlet store and bought shoes and trainers (it was awful in there but it's at least a third cheaper than regular Clarks) and have just bought school wellies. I think that's the lot. It's just haircuts now. This going back to school is a right old purse rinser.

Also...I've made big inroads into my Christmas shopping. This is in the hope of saving money in the long run, and also saving sanity.

Artijoke · 29/08/2013 19:40

I'm here. Trying to wrestle the baby to sleep. He isn't settling due to massive farts. He hasn't done a poo since Sunday and I'm praying that when he goes all our new sleep problems will disappear.

That all I can think to say admist the crying and writhing. Sorry guys!
