Rubena · 14/08/2013 14:08

That was 3 strikes. I'm out.

DeidreBarlow · 14/08/2013 14:24

Good news on survey

I'm up for a night away somewhere midway, definitely!

Pamper party involves; hair done (curling/straightening/plaits etc), nails done, make upShock, toe nails if time, mini catwalk show, glitter tattoos etc. All round being very girly and they pretend to be grown upGrin

Artijoke · 14/08/2013 17:00

I'd love a Sept meet-up.

We are in Devon this week and are having a fabulous time. However on our first night DH and his mate took our kids and the mate's kids for a walk along the estuary where we are staying. They were meant to meet us on a beach at the river mouth but they misjudged the tides, crossed the river and got stranded with the tide fast coming in. I could see them but not reach them. My brave friend (DH's mate''s wife) dived in to the fast moving river fully clothed (I'm ashamed to say I hesitated as I was worried that my underwear was nasty and I couldn't swim in my skirt!). My friend got to them but was so scared of the current she had experienced that she couldn't swim back with them which was her plan. We were saved by a canoeist who was passing and collected each child in turn and bought them to me but by that point the current was so strong he was really battling to keep the canoe from being pulled downstream. I have never been so nervous as the moment he had to put DS in a sling and cross the river, if he'd tipped that would have been that, but all was ok thank god! The rest of the week has been splendid (except that DD2 had peanuts and had a bit if an allergic reaction, that was fun when staying in the middle of bloody nowhere).

Back to London on Friday, DD1 turns 7 on Saturday, then we fly to the South of France on Sunday morn. I will catch-up properly soon.

Oh, and with regard to plimsoles, they tear dD1's feet to shreds so I send her trainers to school on a Monday morn and she brings them home on Friday pm. The school seem happy with that so I will do the same with DD2.

JamInMyWellies · 15/08/2013 05:38

Yes to a Sep meet up. Grin

We are off on our holibobs. Woohoo 2 wks of beach and fun. Lets hope for no tornadoes this yr.

Rubena · 15/08/2013 08:48

Arti that is the sort of story you see on the news that doesn't always end well. So glad yours did. How terrifying! Glad the break has gone well since!
Is Sept meet up for Adults / evening I'm assuming with all the 08's starting school?

Rubena · 15/08/2013 09:46

Have a nice holiday Jam

beans37 · 15/08/2013 14:46

I'd say yes to an early September meet up of an evening... Perhaps we could meet near Liverpool St Station if its not too hideous for everyone, which it might well be. In which case, I would gracefully now out as suspect I won't be shifting much further afield.

Had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday. All being well, home birth going ahead. Eek. All v soon.

Sybs, how's the packing going? I did a load of washing most days in Wales, so only had to do a weeny bit on return. Was brilliant.

Just been to soft play and shortly off to a friend's house. DD1 was having a poo at soft play (as always) and I leaned against the loo wall and sighed. She said, 'it's ok, Mummy, you can relax there if you like. Have a snooze if you need to'.

Had crappy crappy cramp last night. Up the front of my calf and in my toes. Couldn't ease it at all. Was weeping while DH tried to massage it out! Passed eventually. Phew.

Nesting madly. I must away xx

sybilfaulty · 16/08/2013 14:47

Where is everyone? Am just packing to go to Devon tomorrow. Gosh, 5 people need a hell of a lot of kit. Some of it is still dirty but I shall wash it when I arrive.

beans37 · 17/08/2013 09:03

Good luck with the drive, Sybs. Hope you have a magic time.

So hee we are at the weekend. DH has organised his annual cricket match for tomorrow, catering for 100 anyone? Yay.

Does anyone else feel really excluded when their DH plays with their children? It's like a club I'm not allowed in. Find it a bit depressing really.

Artijoke · 17/08/2013 10:36

Have fun in Devon Sybs. Whereabouts are you going? We just got back yesterday. I love Devon so much.

Are you catering for 100 Beans??? That is crazy! Re DHs and playing, mine does play with the kids more than me because he spends less time doing practical stuff for them, this summer I have made a real effort to play more and do things like go in the sea or kayak or whatever rather than leaving the adventurous fun to him. I have actually really enjoyed it.

DD1 is seven today! I cannot believe I have been a parent for seven years! We have bought her a fish tank but as we are off to France tomorrow we cannot get the fish until we come back. She is so excited though that we are going to look at them in the pet shop.

By the way, those of you with experiecne of nut allergies do you know whether they can develop out of the blue? Last week DD2 ate some peanuts which I am sure she must have had before but all of a sudden she got hives around her mouth and started saying her tongue and throat were itchy. It passed after about 45 minutes. Then last night she ate a nut bar, no peanuts in the ingrediants list and the same thing happened but the hives were worse. Piriton sorted it out just before we were about to dash to hospital. She has never had problems with nuts before and eats loads as she cannot have gluten and lots of cakes use almonds etc in place of gluten.

DeidreBarlow · 17/08/2013 16:21

Happy birthday to your DD arti! DD is 7 tomorrow, getting all grown up aren't they?

I forgot to say that incident on your hols sounded terrifying. I bet your heart was in your mouth

Beans are you catering for 100? Please say not that's madness!!

Mckayz · 17/08/2013 16:48

Happy Birthday to your DD Arti and to yours for tomorrow Deids.

Hope everyone is ok. Just quickly popping in.

Vagolajahooli · 17/08/2013 22:09

Birthdays all around. Ds1 8 today I'm having a bad case of denial. I don't think I gave him the day he deserved because I didn't want him to grow up another year.

beans37 · 18/08/2013 18:08

So very tired...

Happy birthday to all littles!

Back when my backache has gone and feet work again....

Rubena · 18/08/2013 21:06

Happy birthday all the kiddies. Can't believe how old they all are.
Mentally exhausted here. House purchase really complicated and tits up but we are now clutching at straws and working on any way possible to make it happen.
Mildly pulled a hamstring and have found lack of exercise really adds to stress but did a little intro back at it today and feeling bit better.

Hmm not sure. Gonna have a bath with a lush bath bomb shortly.

beans37 · 19/08/2013 21:46

Hullo lovelies. Rubes, how you doing today?
Am feeling rather better now. 9hrs sleep last night helped. Went to bed very early. Had the cricket match yesterday, which was actually really good fun. Bloody hard work though. 40 kids and 60 adults. DH and I managed to pretty much cater perfectly numbers wise, which was ace. Did coronation chicken with new potatoes. His parents brought salad and my Mum brought strawberries. It was the clearing up that nearly did me in. My back and feet were hurting so much by the end of the day, I was nearly weeping! But it was worth it.

We've had a particularly boring day today, poor children. A lot of telly. And a nice walk. Was meant to be out in London tonight, but cancelled it. Think it may have been a step too far.

DH's birthday on Saturday. A surprising him. He knows we're having lunch with his parents, then out for dinner while they babysit, then he knows we're picking them up Fter we've finished. What he doesn't know is that we are staying on at the hotel of the restaurant and collecting them in the morning! Yay! Our last night just us 2 for a long time. My nay problem is that the bed there is only a normal double and our home bed is a super king size one. Am wondering if we should come home after the meal for a night alone here in our big one, give my size. What do you think?

sybilfaulty · 20/08/2013 07:47

How fab Beans. Personally I'd go for comfort myself as a single bed is small when you are used to a bigger one. We are on hols on a double and it feels tiny. I'd save the overnight babysit til a night out post baby. Your cricket match sounds fab. Why does Dh organise it a d who are the guests? I've never cooked for that number and would be rubbish on quantity. FHB is hardly going to work on a hundred.

We are in sunny Devon where it was so sunny yesterday that poor Dd got sunburn. Oops. Bad mummy. She looks better today and will be plastered on factor 50 together with her UV suit ( she wore a swimming costume yesterday) but I do feel bad. I should have insisted. Dh was keen to get in the sea so just let them go and I forgot with girls once back. Did DS but not them. She looks much better today though. Poor girl.

DH is off out now to explore coastal path so I am on sofa with kids watching scooby do. Think I got the better deal.

sybilfaulty · 20/08/2013 07:48

Double not single bed. You are not students at Uni!

beans37 · 20/08/2013 15:14

Oh Sybs, don't worry, these things happen and she'll have got some valuable vitamin D etc. sounds lovely though.

Just been down to Kent to see Mum and say goodbye to the house. She moves next week. Managed not to cry until we drove past the church Dad's memorial service was in! Then sobbed like a baby! Silly cow! Honestly!

Am going to go for the overnight hotel stay. Figure it's last opportunity for a while, so even if we sleep badly, it'll be a treat. And frankly, am sleeping so badly at the moment anyway, makes little difference to me! Selfish, moi??

Vagolajahooli · 22/08/2013 15:52

Gosh it's very quiet on here, is everyone out enjoying the sunshine? Bit cloudy here.

Sybs poor DD, she'll be right I'm sure. We used to get sunstroke all the time as kids. Never hurt moi.

Beans I actually get exhausted reading your posts. You are a machine women! I don't know how you handle it all. I think I need a sit down just thinking about it.

We are off what looks like it will be a wet camping holiday. I've always wanted to ski a glacier in summer so I have us driving 9 + hours to Austria to stay at a camp ground near the kitzenhorn. The weather look horrid and we made a last minute decision to cancel the booking and high tail it down to the south of France instead but found out we would have to pay the ? 220 for the Austria booking! So have decided to go ahead with our existing plans. It's not all bad if the weather is bad down around zell am see where we are staying we can just go up the mountain each day and snowboard. Hoping it is ok rthough as there is some beautiful walking around there and DH can do some mountain biking and ds1 wants to do some archery. Fingers crossed.

We are in Devon, Vag, and very busy. About yo go out to eat after all day on beach. Kids loved the body boarding. They have so much energy. It's fab.

Your holiday sounds great and I am sure that a bit if rubbish weather won't get in the way of a good time. You are all do hit and active in the vag family. I haven't done proper swimming for a month as I've either been working or looking after kids. Feeling a bit of a lardy wobble. Of dear. Still there are some fab bodies on the beach ( the young surfer dudes. They walk to the water with their wetsuits rolled down and they are so hot) and some less so (me, Dh, millions of other lardy Brits). At least I have brown lard now. L is brown now rather than red. She looked as though she had a white costume on!

Right I am waffling now. Take it easy beans, have fun Vag and enjoy sunshine everyone else xxx

sybilfaulty · 22/08/2013 17:25

Hit - fit.

beans37 · 22/08/2013 17:41

Glad to see someone back on! Thought I'd managed to finally break us all!

My dithering has resulted in me cancelling the hotel. Have been v sensible and decided we have far too much to do here to waste time in hotel! Got to rearrange furniture (DH not me!) get baby stuff down from the attic and wash it, then get pushchair set up, pack emergency hospital bag etc.

Am convinced tis baby will be here in the next couple of weeks, which will mean no home birth. Sure I've got it completely wrong, but can't help wishing thinking it'll be here a bit early. Have had enough of being so unwieldy!

beans37 · 22/08/2013 17:41

Article, meant to ask how your AT&T if is looking?

Sybs, your holiday sounds amazing!

beans37 · 22/08/2013 17:42

And Vag, reckon you vaggies will make a brilliant holiday of it. You always seem to make such a lovely time wherever you go x
