Ooohhh, pretty Tardis, Tardis. (I've been to Dr. Who conventions don't ya know, and this was in the Wilderness years of the mid 90's). I can even name the episode that was on the day DS was born. Grin

GreenFirefly · 21/11/2013 22:26

no tardis on my phone Sad but I'm just pleased when the app doesn't crash Grin. I feel Dr who is kind of my religion as I spent every Sunday morning watching it on UK gold when I decided to stop going to Sunday School. They showed it from the beginning so Jon Pertwee is my fave even though I was too young when he was originally on. I love multiple doctor episodes.... Grin

MumToTiny · 26/11/2013 14:44

LAST CALL FOR SECRET SANTA DETAILS! As I am a disorganised fool I forgot the deadline was yesterday and didn't remind you. So, by the end of today please, if you'd like to take part. Grin

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/12/2013 16:20

Thank you for organising MTT.

I seem to have been AWOL for ages. I don't think much interesting has happened here. Dh and I just had a child free weekend, it was great but it was also lovely to see the boys again yesterday. Of course we mostly talked about them Xmas Grin

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 03/12/2013 12:10

I've been AWOL for ages too. Again, I think that this is largely because nothing of any interest has happened.

DD is such a chatterbox now though. She never stops. It's amazing how quickly you forget about what they used to be like though. I spent the weekend with my friend and her 17 month old. Friend was asking when DD began talking and I was embarrassed to find that I couldn't remember. Dread to think what I'll be like when number two arrives!

She's ridiculously excited about Christmas too. I didn't think she'd really get it this year but she seems to, which in turn is making me really excited!

NomDeClavier · 03/12/2013 12:12

We're just getting into Christmas excitement too, which is odd because I didn't think he would understand this year, let alone remember last year! But it seems some stuff went in and he remembered making some decorations and there being presents under the tree at least, and done of the Christmas books.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/12/2013 07:54

It's great when they get Christmas isn't it Xmas Smile

Ds3's pre-school went into the primary school yesterday morning and joined a Christmas craft activity with the reception class (which ds2 is in). He had an amazing time apparently and was mesmerised by their tree. The season of glue and glitter has begun!

Ds2 is a wise man in their nativity and is beyond excited, he is constantly changing into his costume at home and running around.

The advent calendars are also a hit. Ds2 has a Lego Star Wars, ds3 has Playmobil pirates, I have a Yankee candle one and dh has a chocolate one - which of course gets snaffled by the boys.

My Christmas craft project has been making a festive tablecloth. Our table when extended is an odd size so I couldn't buy one anywhere. It has taken me longer than I thought it would, but I finished it yesterday and I'm quite chuffed with myself. If I can be arsed I may make some napkins, but it seems it's cheaper to buy some rather than make them, and can I be arsed with the extra washing and ironing?

Ds3 is at preschool this morning so I'm going to attempt to make mincemeat and a new pastry recipe which will hopefully end up as yummy mince pies

Have a good day everyone Xmas Smile

Oh shite, have I killed the thread Xmas Blush

Anyone fancy having a stubborn 2.5yo? Or are you battling with your own?! Lordy he is being 'challenging' at the moment. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I think his cold isn't helping, but even still. He would give a mule a run for its money.

Walking to school to drop off ds2 seems to be a flashpoint at the moment. Today it culminated in him being stuffed into the buggy (he usually walks)with no shoes or coat on. I refused to make him get dressed, he had to come to the decision himself. Which he did ..... eventually. I got some iffy looks on the playground I can tell you!

It's rather breezy here today, luckily we're not on the coast though. I hope you've all battened down the hatches.

OP posts:
NomDeClavier · 05/12/2013 15:28

I've got one of my own but perhaps if we put them together they'll stop fighting us and commiserate about evil mothers who insist on things like coats and shoes.

I'm excited because DH is picking up our new-to-us car this evening! And also because he plans to drive it to Paris with M tomorrow night instead of taking the train Saturday morning leaving me 48 glorious hours of peace instead of 36. It will be my first weekend off in 2.5 years and probably the only one for the next 2.5 years. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself (bearing mind I'm 37weeks...).

Daisy17 · 05/12/2013 19:48

Certainly challenging here......hope the phase passes before our fortnight away over Christmas visiting family! Mind you I guess there will be lots of doting relatives to help out......

GreenFirefly · 06/12/2013 10:11

Morning all, just getting back on thread :) It was really windy here yesterday. We only ventured out to playgroup at the local church. I was thinking of secret santa shopping today but the road is flooded to where I want to go so it'll have to wait until Monday.
Decided this week that we're going to have Christmas day at home so I plan to order a small turkey later today (hope I'm not too late). We've invited friends on Christmas day on the understanding that they might cancel at the last minute - friends due date is boxing day and is planning a home birth but hopefully not my home! :D

Nom, enjoy your peaceful 48 hours. Sounds like bliss.

Kittycatcat · 07/12/2013 08:12

Morning all. Ive been reading but not writing. Also have a wilful two year old!! A is waking now. We went to see Father Christmas yesterday. S loved him :-)

NomDeClavier · 07/12/2013 09:53

Well my 48 has been cut to 36 as DH was too tired to drive last night but that's okay! I actually feel a bit better about them driving in the day....

Now what to do with myself?!

Kittycatcat · 07/12/2013 17:06

Eat chocolate Grin. I'm off into london with the girls

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/12/2013 19:07

What have you been doing Nom? I always feel a complete spare part when I have a stretch of time to myself Xmas Confused

Enjoy London kitty Xmas Smile I had a night out last night with the girls. I wore heels, make-up and drank cocktails. The first time in many years that I've done all three at the same time. The bonus was I wasn't hungover today (hurrah) but I feel knackered and my knees are killing me from wearing the heels. They were so bloody high that my knees were permanently locked, but I shall forgive them because they were silver and sparkly Xmas Grin

I feel a bit more justified in being exasperated with ds3 as dh lost his rag with him today, and dh is usually the calm one. If things don't improve this week I'm going to have to come up with some strategies ......... other than wine!

Right,I'm off to crack open the Christmas Baileys and watch SCD Xmas Grin

NomDeClavier · 07/12/2013 21:24

I have watched endless episodes of Greys Anatomy, continued knitting a cardigan for baby, done 3 loads of washing and made a batch of doughnut muffins that didn't quite work.

Plus I walked into town and (TMI) lost a bit of my plug so am thinking non-contracty thoughts. MIL now isn't coming to next Saturday so I don't really have anyone to look after DS if I do go into labour.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/12/2013 10:38

Sending 'baby staying put for another 7 days' to you Nom Xmas Grin

I know losing your plug can happen weeks before birth and that you don't have childcare for a few days, but apart from that(!), has it made you just a little bit excited?

I'm excited for you Xmas Grin

Remind me, do you know the sex? Have you got names sorted? Noel, Mary, Joseph, Ivy, Holly?

OP posts:
RegainingUnconsciousness · 08/12/2013 12:21

Hello! Been lurking. F has actually been getting better, in terms of tantrums and potty training.

Popped on to join the hoping that Nom's baby will stay put a while longer, but with barely disguised excitement at another baby on the thread!

Hope you're taking it easy, Nom!

NomDeClavier · 08/12/2013 14:56

It's a DD and she will not be called anything seasonal! Although Marie features as a middle name but it would be the same any time of year Wink I am excited. If she put in an appearance this week despite the no childcare and the fact I'm still supposed to be teaching I would be thrilled tbh. There are friends who would help in a pinch.

Hello regaining! Are you getting broody?! Or just wnjoying babies by proxy? Good to hear of the improvements.

Speaking of potty training after being convinced we had it sorted I took DS to his school interview thing on Friday morning, we left early, were practically outside the school 5 mins before and he suddenly needs a wee. I'm desperately trying to find a bush and get his stupid dungarees (why did I put him in dungarees?!) halfway down when he's suddenly peeing. We had to go the 10mins hope, change and walk back. Not a good start :(

RegainingUnconsciousness · 08/12/2013 16:58

Bit of both, Nom. I've now decided I really do want #2, but now DH isn't convinced. However we've got until F starts school to think about it as 2x childcare is impossible (as is me not working). Plus other people's babies and pregnancies are always way more exciting than your own!

Rubbish about the school accident. F only has one pair of dungers and they're still the popper-crotch type! Even they don't get worn often.

After saying he had improved earlier, he had a string of epic, rolling on the floor with high pitched squealing tantrums in waitrose earlier. People we're stepping over him, making nice comments, telling their older kids they used to do that, etc.

He was tired. He had a good nap and is now lovely again! Although he'll be up till 9pm tonight and then tired again tomorrow morning.

GlaikitInAPearTree · 11/12/2013 18:55

Oops! I appear. To have dropped off the thread!

I am living vicariously through all of the babies on here. We are in the "once B is a t school" camp too. It just isn't possible money wise.

Anyone else having trouble explaining that advent calendars are a once a day thing?? We may have to forgo the chocolate ones next year!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 11/12/2013 21:26

The tantrums are back with a vengeance here too. DD is 2 going on 14 at the moment. Of course she's an angel for everybody apart from me and DH, so nobody believes a word of it...

I'm starting to dread being at home with her the new baby when it arrives. Anyone fancy organising a whip round so that I can keep her in nursery full time? Xmas Wink

At the risk of turning into one of those really annoying people that we all moaned about first time round, any twinges yet Nom? Xmas Grin

Two weeks today until Christmas. Eeeep!

NomDeClavier · 12/12/2013 00:24

News: I think I'm in labour. I think. Contractions painful, 3-4 mins apart, might go get checked out. I'mmore worried about them saying I'm not anywhere bear as advanced as I think than actually giving birth!

GreenFirefly · 12/12/2013 04:22

ooh. exciting Grin goodluck, hope it's quick. x
