I hear ya!!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 08/11/2013 18:43

I was about to come and say exactly the same thing. And I only work four days! If I wasn't bloody pregnant I would be drinking copious amounts of Wine. As it is, I'll make do with my own body weight in chocolate....

Happy weekend people :)

GlaikitFizzog · 08/11/2013 18:44

I only work four days too 20th, but this week feels like I've worked and entire month in a week!

GreenFirefly · 10/11/2013 15:05

I'm glad it's Sunday! Looking forward to tomorrow morning when it's just me and baby A (who loves a long morning nap ;) ). I'm fed up of being a toddler climbing frame. My parents have been visiting this weekend which has added to my stress. My mum claims to be great with kids but A has screamed every time she's held her and M is far more interested in watching TV. I forget mum is getting older and I end up getting snappy easily dealing with both kids. DH has been DIYing most of the time, needs doing but I want a break occasionally. Lots of wine and choc has been consumed this weekend - I'm never going to lose 2 stone+ baby weight am I?

GlaikitFizzog · 13/11/2013 20:01

Just thought I'd pop my head in. It's been a pretty rough week so far.

My friend lost the younger of her twins on Monday morning. The funeral was today. I don't think I have ever witnessed anything so harrowing as I did this afternoon. And my friend had to turn around and go right back to the hospital where her eldest son is still fighting for his life. He is doing as well as can be expected, looking positive, but he still has a long time before he is out of the woods.

I feel totally drained

RegainingUnconsciousness · 13/11/2013 22:22

So sorry to hear that Fizz. Sad

I was going to moan about a work colleague, but I can't remember why now. Going to give F a little squeeze before instead. x

Kittycatcat · 14/11/2013 05:59

Hi fizz. That must have been incredibly hard (understatement). Big hugs.

Firefly I've joined weightwatchers. I lost 2 1b this week.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/11/2013 07:37

Oh Fizz Sad That's so unbelievably shit. Those poor parents must be in total shock. I'm thinking of you all xx

Hugs for you and your friend Fizz. I hope older twin continues to improve.

Kitty, well done on the weight loss :) before A was born I said I wouldn't worry about it until after Christmas, but I'm still wearing maternity yoga pants and a stretchy skirt because it's all that really fits. Now the weather is getting colder I'm getting to the stage where I need to lose a few pounds and get into some of my proper clothes. I always thought breastfeeding would make the weight fall off but I seem to recall last time it didn't really do much until about 6 months Confused. I have cut out eating (and making) so much cake. Now i need to stop eating too much bread and try to remember slimming world tips.

Kittycatcat · 14/11/2013 15:09

I lost loads feeding Sam. None feeding Alex. I couldn't stop eating. V sweet tooth.

JollySeriousGiant · 14/11/2013 15:29

I've just checked on the Wii and I've lost 2lb in 2 weeks.

DS is being a total nightmare at the moment. He's determined to be in charge. Thankfully I'm more determined than he is. So far. It's no fun though.

Kittycatcat · 14/11/2013 17:00

Well do jolly

They are at anage aren't they. S is v wilful at the mo

GreenFirefly · 14/11/2013 17:04

I have an addiction to giant chocolate buttons at the moment. Bought as a treat or bribery for M. I don't think she's had one recently Wink . The trouble is the big bags always seem to be in offer for a pound( and last 2days at most).

GlaikitFizzog · 14/11/2013 17:26

Are still working our way through the mountain of milky way starts dh bought for Halloween. Waytars are demanded before anything is done. Shoes on jacket on, before dinner, after dinner. He even wanted some before his bath the other night.

Thank you all for your ice comments last night. I was really feeling it. I had a good sleep last night for the first time in abat a week.

I'm off work tomorrow for hairdressing and travelling north! A weekend of seeing friends and catching up will do me good.

SarniaCherie · 15/11/2013 21:09

Just catching up, so sorry to hear about your colleague Fizz. Hope the other twin is a fighter.

And now onto a very first world problem. DS discovered my secret Christmas present drawer under the bed (I stupidly forgot to close it properly). He came running into P's bedroom clutching some Star Wars Lego shouting "Look what I've found Mummy" and there was also X.Y.Z. I said it was things for his birthday I had bought in a Sale and he believed me even though his birthday isn't for another 5 months. Luckily I ordered his letter to Santa presents from Amazon and they've been delivered straight to my mums so i think it could have been worse. I now have to shell out on getting more stuff for his Christmas stocking though.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 17/11/2013 11:31

I've realised how poorly I've stashed the Christmas presents as well. I haven't been found out yet, but it's only a matter of time so I need a better hiding place.

We all went to the cinema yesterday and ds3 was a hundred times better this time. I think the cinema nearly being empty helped a lot, he had space to walk up the aisle and I wasn't worried that people were tutting at him. He was really excited about going and when we walked in he said 'it's amazing', so cute!

The weather is very uninspiring today, damp and grey. Sausage and mash for lunch, then I'm off into town while dh takes the boys to a party - result!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 18/11/2013 17:24

Such sad news Fizz - I hope that your friend's other little boy is doing well.

Our Christmas present stash is barely even hidden. I keep thinking that DD wouldn't twig even if she stumbled across them...but thinking about it, she probably would. Hmmm. Time to send DH up to the loft I think!

NomDeClavier · 18/11/2013 17:45

Oh Fizz :( How awful for your poor friend. How is she holding up? And the other twin? It makes me really glad I'm at a point with this pregnancy where barring any major complications little one would be okay with good care.

Our present stash is just not hidden at all. It's in the guest room. But there aren't Santa presents in there. I might need to get a bit creative about hiding them! Does anyone have stocking ideas? So far I'm doing pants, vests, toothbrush (BORING BORING), a couple of little Cars cars because he's obsessed, glitter pens and some chocolate/sweets. But he has a ginourmous stocking.

I've given up battling M for control of everything. Some things are non-negotiable but I just can't be doing with spending my whole day disciplining him. Some days the crate of confiscated toys is overflowing.

GlaikitFizzog · 18/11/2013 17:55

He is doing really well. It's just time he needs to grow bigger and get stronger. Spoke to her last night and although she is swinging between heartache and hope she sounded much brighter. She has started to be able to do his feeds and change his linen. I think that is what she needed desperately, to be his mummy IYKWIM. Thank you all for your support last week. It was tough, but you do what you need to for a friend don't you?

Bulky stocking fillers, I got a big roll of paper from ikea. Also, last year we put balloons in the top of his Santa sack as it looks so we hat empty as his big present was the play tent and tunnel that my sister got stuck in while "testing" it Santa kindly erected in the living room! He may have had more fun with the balloons if I'm honest!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 18/11/2013 18:02

DD has a massive sack stocking too. I'm not even going to attempt to fill the thing. We've got some of the same sensible stocking fillers plus various sticker books (she's obsessed) and new story books.

Glad to hear that the other little boy is getting stronger. Sounds like he must be doing well if she's been able to feed and change him. Fingers crossed for him :)

MumToTiny · 18/11/2013 20:51

Hi ladies! Haven't managed to catch up on the whole thread, but I can see there are lots of new babies - congratulations all! Grin

I feel your pain on the stroppy toddlers - mine is generally fairly reasonable, but he has his moments when I could cheerfully drown him Wink

Hope your friends little boy continues to do well, Fizz. I can't imagine how hard the funeral must have been. I've got a friend who had a little girl at 24 weeks - she's 11 months now and doing really well. She has got some problems, but she's a real little miracle to have survived - it's such a roller coaster when they're born so early.

Anyway, my catalyst for catching up... Is anyone interested in doing secret santa again this year? I'm happy to coordinate (no guarantees I'll be as organised as Fizz was last year though Wink) - through Facebook is probably easiest, although I'm happy to have PMs on here too.
So, looking back at last years messages from Fizz, I'll need your name (and MN name), your child's name and clothes size, and an address.
Shall we stick with £5 spend, or does anyone want to increase that to, maybe £7?

MumToTiny · 19/11/2013 15:05

Deadline for secret santa is next Monday, November 25th Grin

NomDeClavier · 19/11/2013 15:22

I'm in and have messaged. I really like our little SS thing - DS still adores his toy telephone and the jumper from last year still just fits, which is good because it's a bit of a fave of his soppy mummy!

Stickers and balloons both genius ideas.

Does anyone else occasionally get woken in the middle of the night by a child insisting it's moirning? I think it's because he wanted a wee but he couldn't understand that it wasn't time to get up because it was 2AM when he's been getting up while it's been dark outside. I think I need one of the glow/grow clock things. Any recommendations?

GlaikitFizzog · 19/11/2013 17:44

We have a grow clock, but apart from a short period of time when B insisted on saying good night to the sun, even for afternoon naps, it's been a bit of a waste of time.

b has been sleeping until 6:30 every morning for this last week! This is a huge improvement on the 4 - 5am wakes ups we had recently!

Now we need to tackle his eating. He has become the child that refuses to eat anything that isn't coated in orange, fish fingers, nuggets etc. Although tonight he had an omelette with some pasta, but I can guarantee if I offer him that again he will refuse it point blank. And last night had mash and peas with his FF. He eats fruit like it's going out of fashion. Happily eats toast or sandwiches for lunch, but isn't keen on soups or. Anything warm if I'm honest. Am I over analysing? I'm just worryng because it's cold, very cold and he will not eat anything warm except ff and cn.i suppose me working four days now means I look for the quick and easy option rather than make something homely and hearty only to have to then make him something else. I try to meal plan, but with me getting him a good 2 hours before dh, I eat with Blair at 5. Then dh sorts himself when he gets in at 6.307ish. I'm gnawing my arm of ifi wait for him and feed B on his own.

MumToTiny · 19/11/2013 23:41

I agree about SS, Nom (you were our not so secret Santa last year - I read the info in the amazon envelope that came with the parcel Wink) - T still plays with his vehicle puzzle from last year even though most of his other puzzles like that have gone away!

Re. sleeping and eating - you're doing better than us, Fizz! We're lucky if we get to sleep til 1am without a little interloper in our bed, and T's current diet mostly consists of toast, yoghurt, pasta with pesto, some fruits, and things in orange breadcrumbs! He's also (thanks to ILs Angry) rather fond of marshmallows, quavers and mini cheddars!
