Make it up!

worsestershiresauce · 11/07/2013 22:28

Ohhh things have got fun whilst I've been away. Eig I'm Felicity Kendal you say? I luffs you already! In my London days I was known as Ali MacBeal... which was apparently meant in a good way. Is there a good way?! Super fit OH? I'll tell him. Actually I won't.... His head is really quite big enough already.

Now hmm... without cheating and looking back

Eig you first.... glamorous (of course), huge sunnies, high heeled knee high boots, wrap dress, toned midriff, It bag, and a blackberry. You stride like you are in control, baby on hip, FT under arm and phone clamped to ear.

Leni you're Ms funky musician. Brunette shoulder length hair in a sharp bob, short skirts, chunky modern jewellery, and a leather jacket. I see you with a violin. If you don't play one, don't tell me Wink

Eco Having seen your back view on the photo - v sporty and super fit. Photos should be banned actually.... they spoil ones creativity Wink

Christi Well she's Kate Humble of course. Of TV farming fame. Who else could she possibly be? Lovely and capable in a gorgeous blond mad haired bundle.

Plonko (sorry).... Small, slightly round, red faced, wavy brown hair, waving a glass of plonk in the air. It's the name I tell you!!! It just says that to me Confused

Stormy - young and hip, and firey. The kind of girl we all wanted to be but were scared of!

Rainbow beautiful, ethereal, blonde.... someone who floats in a sunlit aura.

Pud Now you shouldn't have called yourself that Wink. You've got me fixated on xmas pud. So that's what you are. A xmas pud Confused. How exactly a mum of a 4 month old can actually be a xmas pud I really don't know... so I probably ought to stay up late trying to justify myself here. You'll be pleased to know I won't. It could get wearing.

VJ Given you're local like, I shall not risk putting my size fives in it. Our shared hairdresser says you are v lovely though (although I banned her from telling me your RL name).

SoYo A yummy mummy. End of.

Phew... exhausted myself now. Off to bed... catch up tomorrow. My (super fit Confused) DH is back at work after his hols tomorrow so the alarm goes off at 5am. If he wakes the worselet I will cry. Buckets.

plonko · 11/07/2013 22:28

Eco you've really set us off now. I reckon you like your north face jacket and baby sling, but like a reason to get dressed up. Eig and SoYo are yummy mummies to me, all handbags and cafes. Stormy is a pierced Pratchett-reading gamer - and I picture her having a pint (beer not lager mind) with me and my like minded uni mates. Leni is very on trend with her funky Cosatto pushchair.

Oh and I love being considered razor sharp! I'm as sharp as a friggin circle these days... I do like a walk through the countryside, but as Something witnessed earlier I do have something of a fear of cows... My hairs not quite brunette though. I'm dirty blonde/auburn/light brown (Irish) with freckles, blue eyes and ridiculous sunburn.

Vj just keeping you on your toes! This 91st centile chubster gets through about 32-35 oz a day, but was happily draining 35 oz at 6 weeks. His appetite hasn't increased much with his size.

The highlight of my day has definitely been introducing ds to Something's gorgeous little boy. We found a bench in the shade to feed and the two suddenly started talking to each other. I am suddenly ridiculously broody.

vjhist85 · 11/07/2013 22:29

I had a smear a couple of weeks back, I still haven't had a period. Nurse asked when my last one was and my reply was 'she's 4 months old, I'm breastfeeding (true at the time) and I have polycystic ovaries. I have NO idea' she was fine with that. I'd be surprised if they had to wait considering if you bf for the recommended time, it could be a really long time before period returned.

Just realised that my very long-winded reply is pretty pointless with SoYo here... But I've written it now...

plonko · 11/07/2013 22:33

worse oh dear, I probably do fit that description today! I also have something of a squinty eye Hmm very attractive.

Oh shit I still need a smear test.

vjhist85 · 11/07/2013 22:38

Oh wors- I'm very glad our mutual hd said nice things (hd just tried to autocorrect to DH...that would have made an interesting sentence...) I was just thinking how I should probably book in and wondering if it would break some kind of mn rule to mention you...or be a bit stalkery... Glad it's clearly not!

pudtat · 11/07/2013 23:13

I wish you were right - does that count?Smile Short dyed to hide the grey red/dark bob which has about 2 curls in its otherwise poker straightness. Grey eyes and very pale skin which has just about lost the blue tinge in the recent sun Grin. Used to be quite stylish but new belly means I have no clothes which fit and so sartorial choices are less chic more skinny biker jeans and baggy top/ shorts and top at the mo. I do have quite a nice buggy and a great pair of raybans tho Wink.

Leni, have you pegged as Penelope Cruz now Smile. And Stormy I always think of you wearing purple for some reason.

I see Rainbow as the genteel chic type with just a hint of the bohemian - Kristen Scott Thomas?. Eig I see as very Notting Hill stylish. Soyo modern and casual - I envisage both of you in Scandinavian designs, drapey cashmere in muted tones or the sort of thing with random tabs and buttons and folds which I so admire on others but makes me look like I'm just wearing it inside out. Christilass gives a similar mental picture to that I have of Ruth in the archers - masses of unruly curly dark hair on a bouncy petite frame. Eco tall and slender, long brunette hair pulled back so it doesn't blow about on those long walks (Julia Bradbury stylee), while Worse is tanned and one of those people who makes wearing wellies look stylish like the models in the White Company catalogues or kate humble. Vj I always picture as quite exotic, possibly cos of the mil?, with beautiful big brown eyes and sheets of almost black glossy hair, while I see Any as the delicate blonde type. Plonko is petite and dark except when she becomes Gilly Gouldon in my head cos of talking about wine Grin

OP posts:
vjhist85 · 11/07/2013 23:22

Wish I were exotic (and neither is myracist mil!)
I have just beaten DH with a flip flop. It's useless husband week again, he was asleep on the sofa while I juggled work/housework/parenting/cat feeding. So I hit him with a flip flop. Several times. To wake him up. I found it really funny. Him-not so much.

My imagination is rubbish and I've now totally stolen every description you've all guessed of each other!

Me? I'm the wrong side of plump, but with nice curly thick auburn hair that I know people are jealous of (but they're not jealous of the 6 stone I need to lose) and I wear fairly boring clothes in an attempt to make it look more like 4 or 5 stone... But I'm determined to do something about that soon!

vjhist85 · 11/07/2013 23:32

That's my mil that's racist. As opposed to exotic. Think my strike through confused matters somewhat. Think it was KF with the mil?

plonko · 11/07/2013 23:36

I've totally cracked. I can't go to sleep and the mental images are just floating my head now.

Pud i see you as a bit of a Julie Walters. Small, dark haired, lovely smile and demeanour. love the Jilly Goulden reference. I'm going back to flogging Pinot in four months so ill have to rediscover my inner Patsy from Ab Fab. She was dangerously unleashed in the champagne region last year. Good times.

Kf Sara cox. Blonde and trendy.

Leni until your swarthy comment I'd envisaged Lauren Laverne.

Worse can I get you back? I'd love to say I imagine Margo Leadbetter but Barbara Good is actually spot on.

I've cracked. There's a picture of me on my profile now...

pudtat · 12/07/2013 04:07

Aw Vj, DV with a flip flop is quite exotic?! No, you're prob right about me getting confused re mil baby brain is a terrible thing

And Plonk -that's fab! Tho really should be me ;-)

OP posts:
SoYo · 12/07/2013 05:42

Plonko unless you are a cat I see no photo!!

In answer to the smear question, no you don't need to have had a period, you just need to be more than 6 weeks postnatal and not bleeding at the time.

plonko · 12/07/2013 07:08

That damn cat... FIXED Grin

worsestershiresauce · 12/07/2013 07:52

This is brilliant fun. Love the images. You've all been so nice about me though.... I feel bad now. I make a load of cheeky comments and no one is equally rude in return. If I told you I've previously been described as a whippet on speed, rock a fine line in gardening aka scruffy wear, have a wide selection of wellies (none of them stylish...), and have never been near an Aga would you be disappointed Wink. I do scrub up well though, when the occasion requires, and pregnancy took at least 10 years off me, so it's not all bad.

VJ I didn't mention MN (what with it being a nest of vipers and all....). The words 'parenting forum' may have left my mouth however, in which case she may have us both pinned as neurotic first timers rather than vipers. Not sure which is worse!

Pud thank you for setting me straight. I prefer your actual image to the slightly bizarre one I had conjured up. Honestly, brain where are you these days?

But back to the tiddlers. Can I rejoin those of you on the broken nights bench? Mini-worse has regressed. Big time! Heat, hunger, teeth, who knows...? As it was I needn't have worried about DH waking her at 5am, as she got herself up without any help from anyone at 2.30am, and declared extreme hunger. 9floz Confused. Wtf????? Confused This baby never drinks 9floz, ever, and especially not as a midnight snack after a day of full feeds. She also then took over an hour to settle, probably as a result of having over eaten. Ah the joys.... I'm kind of hoping she has a lie in now as I am slightly zoned out.

Oh yuck smears. Thankfully I am not due one for ages, which is a relief, as given my slow to heal stitches I regard the metal jaws of feminine health checks with a fear approaching on hysteria.

Speaking of those stitches, aren't anti-bs are wonderful things, as all things bad appear to have been nuked. The downside... I haven't been allowed to feed the worselet myself at all. No snacks, nothing Sad. Breaks my heart, especially when she is a bit sad and just wants a comfort snuggle. The poor little thing has stretched desperation to the point where she has even been known to rout about on DH... which freaks him out big time, and is frankly hilarious

StormyBrid · 12/07/2013 08:35

Nine ounces, worse? We can't even fit that much in the bottle. And to whoever else was asking, we are eighteen weeks, twenty fifth centile, averaging twenty eight ounces the past couple of weeks - she can go as low as twenty five and Monday we had a record breaking thirty six. Seems to be the pattern that this baby needs two or three ounces less than the weight x 2.5 rule suggests.

Woke at six again. Too early to feed. Gave dummy. Chuntered to herself until I fed her at half past, then took another half an hour to go back down. But night feeds were 10.45 and 4 so definite improvement there.

Grandma's funeral today. I have way too much to do before the babysitter turns up in two hours. And I keep worrying the babysitter will turn out to be a child molester, because a) I've known him for years and b) he volunteered. Bloody statistics and paranoia!

LaLaLeni · 12/07/2013 08:37

Right I'll come back to this later on after O've figured out where DS is now going to sit since EVERYTHING is covered in poo. I've been up since 5.30am after having a horribly blocked nose all night, whilst OH is still sleeping. Utter bastard! Hitting him with a flip flop seems appropriate, I've only got ballet pumps though and I fear they wouldn't hurt enough.

I will say that SoYo was the first to turn into an actor - Laila Rouass from Holby is it? Also Family Affairs years ago.

As soon as this dire shit situation is concluded and OH bothers to assist me I'll be back!

SoYo · 12/07/2013 09:16

Ooh I am glam in your eyes aren't I! There's no bloody way I'm putting a picture up & ruining that image!

Worse what abx are you on that you can't breastfeed? There's only a few you can't with, had you already had a couple of courses and now they've got you on the full on bleach?? How rubbish for you!

Plonko it may just be me but I'm still only seeing a cat & a very cute baby!

plonko · 12/07/2013 09:55

I love the thought of flipflop dv. Does a Birkenstock count or is it too substantial?

We've achieved 9 floz (that's it now, I'm forever going to measure bottles in flozzes) just once and I was gobsmacked.

Hope today goes ok Stormy and you can raise a glass.

SoYo you've got me. I'm a half Bengal half Siamese half tabby cat.

Somehow it's nearly ten am. Having been woken by my very naughty delightful bundle at 6.30 I seem to have had a nap with him. Should probably have a piece of banana bread shower before his next session at the trough.

vjhist85 · 12/07/2013 10:27

Plonko, I did consider a Birkenstock but decided against it...

I just tried dd on some water in a doidy cup. Not sure how much water she got as she was mainly interested in chewing it but it's a start, worried about impending heat wave as she won't take water from a bottle (even when I tried worse's trick of mixing it with the milky dregs).

I've finally added a pic of dd (I hope!) in a revoltingly bright babygro that I love and hate in equal measures... It's just so offensively PINK!

StormyBrid · 12/07/2013 19:58

Everyone too busy enjoying the sun to post, I hope? The one downside to having a barbecue wake is I now look like a tomato. Time for a rather cold bath, I think.

SoYo · 12/07/2013 20:07

Stormy I've had 3 cold showers today & the wee woman has had 2 cold baths & a paddle in a big bucket in the garden! Bloody boiling! I've just attempted putting the little one to bed & it's 27oC in there. She's in a muslin sleeping bag & her nappy but I'm still worried she'll be warm, I'll see when she wakes up!

worsestershiresauce · 12/07/2013 20:54

Enoying the sun stormy? In my dreams!!! I have been tolerating the sun with admirable good grace, given the negative effect it has on the worselet's state of mind. I have explained summer is a good, and rare thing.... not seen for many a year about these parts... but she's having none of it... Hmm

Not sure the exact abx SoYo, but they put me on a double whammy and it was the non-penicillin one that was the problem. The leaflet thingy said 'wean if bf-ing', so I just took that as read. It's a good job I'd more or less transitioned over anyway, or there would be a constant whirrr whirr of an evening here. Would you happen to know when I'll be toxic free again given I finished the course this morning? Thank you Smile

I'm off shift now as the man is home. Wahey!!! That said, I did actually rather enjoy having the tiddler to myself today. He'd been doing a lot of the feeds and fun stuff whilst he was off, and I'd kind of picked up the dad role of stepping in to provide a break when she was screamy. I'd missed the small person, and we did sort of look at each other in an 'oh good, the status quo has returned' kind of way, and have a little grin earlier.

Hope you've something nice lined up for the weekends. My neighbour is apparently having a 21st birthday for her daughter right next door. I almost wept with joy at being told the music would only be loud until midnight, at which point they'd turn it down. Super. Just super. I'm hoping babies like S-club seven or whatever it is she is into, or we could be in for a night of it. I can't complain however, as this is the neighbour who is always rescuing me from my disasters, but never has any of her own, so the favour bank is more than a tad unbalanced.

Rainbowbabyhope · 12/07/2013 21:49

eig I was told to have a smear 12 weeks after birth irrespective of whether I had had a period or not because my last smear before my two pregnancies was inconclusive.

Love the images of all of us - funny how people imagine each other just through what we say! I am very far away from being chic or a yummy mummy though. worse love the sunlit aura imagery - thats exactly how I try to live my life despite the hard things. I'm a relatively young (28), short and petite (although have a fair bit of pregnancy weight to lose!) and I guess a little alternative with slight lentil eating tendencies including being a dedicated babywearing mummy, favoring natural material toys etc (which all my relatives totally ignore!) and previously allotment owning (soon to have own garden! hurray!). eco I do indeed have long wavy (frizzy) brown hair and am partial to flowers!

Had a horrible poonami experience yesterday which resulted in me having to change DD in the back seat of the car in the middle of a car park as she was literally covered in poop and there were no changing facilities. DD looked so ridiculously happy about the situation I had to laugh!

Life here is extremely busy with DD demanding ever more attention and getting scarily mobile, my work load piling up and our impending move to our new country home sneaking up on us very quickly! leni sympathy on the wait for mortgage approval - really stressful part of the buying process - will keep my fingers crossed for you!

SoYo · 12/07/2013 21:52

Wors if the other one is metronidazole (trade name Flagyl) & the dose is 500mg three times a day or less you can actually carry on breastfeeding. That's what's done in hospitals it's just a big study on it wasn't done by the company so they can't say that. It's totally out of your system within 12-24hrs so normal activity can resume then anyway.

Madam managed a whole 30mins asleep so we're trying again now. I live in hope, as always!

AlphaBetaOoda · 13/07/2013 06:53

worse read lactmed re meds in bf. I can't take penicillin and have the option of a few that are fine.
