Happy birthday Mama and congrats on the tooth.

Happy half-birthday A. Hope everything went well today Barbeasty , both with work and MIL.

FOD/Utopian - hope your LOs are feeling better soon.

Welcome Miami.

Am very excited - we're off to London tomorrow for a few days. It'll be our first break as a family of four, and the first time DS1 has been there (and N as well, though don't suppose he'll appreciate it in quite the same way Grin). Just trying to cull the ridiculous amount of stuff we seem to be taking for three nights - must remember we will need to navigate the tube with both DC and all bags. It's not as if London is exactly bereft of places to buy baby supplies after all.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 19:12

Envy Of your trip ISpy

Envy That you can get food delivered 2blessed Grin

Barbeasty glad your dd behaved I'm taking notes Wink

MaMaPo · 14/06/2013 19:33

Have a great trip to London ISpy. If you haven't seen it already, this is a a great resource about getting around on the tube with the minimum of fuss when you have a pram: www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/avoiding-stairs-tube-guide.pdf

WLmum · 14/06/2013 19:42

Good news beasty. For dd1 we've got a jar that we put Lego bricks (giant) in and when it's full she can chose a treat. It helps to have something visual but your dd might be a young to wait for it to fill up!
Dd1 and DH just had a melt down over brushing her teeth! I asked him to do big 2s bedtime so I could just do T (I normally do all 3 or 2 if he's home) as I'm knackered but honestly it's more stressful than doing it myself. They always manage to wind each other up.
In good news, Tabs is loving the spoon food - she cried when her breakfast was all gone this morning! I keep making portions that I think are big (for less than a week of weaning) and she keeps finishing them!

WLmum · 14/06/2013 19:44

Oh good, they're fighting about her school reading now. Harumph.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 19:47

It always seems to he easier to do it yourself WL!

I love the jar idea....do you do it for a whole day or for a morning or if she's behaved at the supermarket etc? What treat does she get?

MiamiMe · 14/06/2013 20:17

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

ISpy hope you have a lovely trip and have some nice things planned when you're here. Fingers crossed you get some nice weather.

Everyone sorted for Father's Day? I'm going to make DH a nice breakfast of poached eggs with smoked salmon on English muffins. Have got him a card with a badge saying "super daddy" which I hope he wears Smile.

WLmum · 14/06/2013 20:19

Hoorah, just had amazing self settling at bed time - in the cot awake and asleep in minutes Grin.

The jar at the moment is only for handwriting practice - she finds writing hard so tries to avoid it so doesn't improve etc. have been told by teacher that next year it will become an issue. We decided she needed to do a little practice everyday but she was being really difficult about it and it always ended in a row or upset so not actually achieving anything. She now gets one block each day she does it nicely (tries and no fuss) and would get a block taken out if she didn't try or made a fuss (so far not happened!). She can earn extra blocks by doing extra if she wants. Should take about 3 weeks to fill the jar. She has asked for a dolly seat for the back if her bike as her reward. Last time it was to be allowed to spend a toys r us voucher she got for her birthday. Will probably do days out here and there too. Nothing huge as its got to be sustainable but so far is working really well. There's a big jar if blocks next to her jar so she gets to physically move one across.

MiamiMe · 14/06/2013 20:21

That's such a good idea WLmum. Will try to remember that when DD is school age.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 20:32

Ah ok I do like it Smile

Dp has got a card made at nursery by dd and one I bought. I got tickets to see Micky Flanagan so that's gone in his card and that's his lot. As it's my birthday tomorrow and dd's on Monday Sunday is her birthday outing. We're going bowling then to TGI's with some friends whose dd is best friends with ours (as much as 3yo can be!)

WLmum · 14/06/2013 21:02

Tickets for mickey Flanagan is pretty nice - he better appreciate it! DH has got sunglasses and chocolate orange! (Actually 3 chocolate oranges to stand him a chance of actually getting any!)

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 21:05

Mmm I love a chocolate orange!

Well I got them for both of us and just decided I'd put it in his card Grin not until October but already worrying about ds!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/06/2013 21:18

Welcome Miami, happy birthday Mama and happy 1/2 birthday to A. Hope you have a fantastic trip Ispy and hope the weather's a bit better down there.

We have tickets for November in Manchester Spotty I bought them before I got pregnant.

WL Envy of your bedtime, I even started a thread in chat about what a nightmare J was. Couldn't open his eyes but still screaming and drunkenly shouting. Then I poured myself a wine and sprayed myself from head to toe with lemonade. That'll teach me not to be a light weight diluting it down.

halestone · 14/06/2013 21:42

Utopian sorry i somehow missed that DS was poorly hope hes better soon.

Miami you missed this but my DP brought me an easter egg for mothers day. I have managed to get hold of a chocolate santa for fathers day hopefully that will teach him a lesson haha. yes i know i'm a bad petty person sometimes

WL yay to the self settling and i'm also going to remember the jar idea.

Spotty and willyouEnvy of the mickey flannagan tickets.

Ispy have a brilliant holiday.

Hales that's hilarious Grin

Goodness WillYou that must have been ages ago!! I booked mine last week as they added an extra date...

Ds just took 4oz during a dreamfeed he still pauses to gargle it even in his sleep Hmm he's so cute though I just want to squidge him Blush

WL ds falls asleep feeding so unless I were to wake him he will never learn to go to sleep on his own at night will he?! Confused

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/06/2013 22:03

I'm in the same boat Spotty, j only falls asleep feeding. I'm not starting to wake him though, why create problems? When he's stopped falling asleep that way you can fix it then and it may be a whole lot easier and he may come to that point himself.

Bought them in march I think! A lifetime ago Smile

WLmum · 14/06/2013 22:27

Love it hales [high five]
T normally falls asleep on the boob at bedtime but had a late nap today so was not so sleepy. I agree, I would t wake her to put her down - it just seems mean! I've been working on settling without the boob during the nights and it seems to be working and translated to bedtime today. T seems quite a placid personality and has been quite easy to 'train'. With dd2 there was a lot more crying and protesting but she was a little bit older.

WLmum · 14/06/2013 22:37

Just emailed my bosses re return to work whilst doing the dream feed!

MiamiMe · 14/06/2013 22:42

Halestone. Love it. How did you even manage to get hold of a Santa in June???

Watching Micky Flanagan now on channel 4. Love him.

halestone · 14/06/2013 22:45

WL how depressing is the idea of returning to work? I honestly do not want to go i want to stay home and watch her learn all her new stuff.

Spotty i totally get the wanting to squidge them because our babies are so damn cute.

I forgot to say tooth 7 popped through last night and i can see 8 and 9 working the way down her gums. I have never seen the others coming down her gums before and shes been abit irritated today so i'm wondering of there bothering her.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 22:58

Oh I definitely wasn't thinking of waking him!

Wow we have no signs of any teeth yet!

FriendofDorothy · 14/06/2013 23:34

I go back to work a week on Monday. It doesn't bear thinking about!

In other news my right boob feels like it is going to explode!

SpottyTeacakes · 15/06/2013 01:01

I'm having issues with my right boob too. Pretty sure ds isn't feeding less. I've had to feed him to relieve it...

Poor you FoD what hours are you doing?

2blessed · 15/06/2013 01:33

Have been trying to settle ds for last hour, have given up amd he's now in our bed.

I'm sorry fod

IsThatTrue · 15/06/2013 01:40

Oh can't keep up with you chatty lot today :)

Welcome miami
