Woo-hoo 3am feed done, straight back down, no settling required!

ddas · 14/06/2013 05:18

Ahhh dd been up since 4am just singing & might round her cot!!! Every once in a while starts crying so pick up, cuddle & put her back- she goes back to playing. Determined not to do my usual bring her into bed.

She just had suck of boob for a few mins seems to have calmed her down. Have put her back in her cot & appears to be falling asleep! Thank god was starting to lose my patience.

ddas · 14/06/2013 05:20

Might= moving.

Rubbish autocorrect!

IsThatTrue · 14/06/2013 05:50

DS has decided 5am is morning today Hmm I shouldn't complain too much as he slept 11-5 which is very very rare!

Just got him back to sleep on the boob, not sure how long it'll last he was wide awake.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 14/06/2013 06:05

Morning IsThat DS has done the same. He was fed at 12 and up At 5:30. I heard him kicking around at 3 but left him to it and he must've settled himself.

WLmum · 14/06/2013 06:23

Ah pride comes before a fall. T was up 4.30-5.30 rolling about, singing etc. any time she cried I did pu/pd and eventually she went off. She's now up and on the boob. So tired.

FriendofDorothy · 14/06/2013 06:37

Oh The Little Mister is just streaming snot and woke me up overnight with a horrid barking cough. Think he might have croup but there probably isn't much point taking him to the GP. It just sounds awful!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 06:51

Well ds woke at 9:45 dp tried giving him a bottle but he wouldn't have any (not surprised as dp didn't warm it upHmm) I got him to have 1oz then he woke at 2 and 5 then up at 6:40 so a good night for us

WLmum · 14/06/2013 07:54

Poor baby fod
Glad you got a good night spotty

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 08:00

FoD when dd has a cough and cold at night her cough sounds horrendous I've never heard anything like it. We know now it's because her throat gets really dry where she's sleeping with her mouth open and a few sips of water really helps with the awful sound of it. Hope ds feels better soon.

Barbeasty · 14/06/2013 08:00

FoD maybe your in-laws should cancel their visit. You don't want to make them ill afterall. At the very least they should stay somewhere else. They won't get any sleep if he's coughing all night......

I'm shattered. I think A woke about 3 times last night, but I was too tired to check the time. And I accidentally snoozed rather than cancelled my alarm, just swiping at the phone rather than looking!

DD has been really good the last 2 days, taking on board how she needs to be good. By 6am today I had toshut her back in her room. She woke A up with her screaming that she wanted to sleep with him; threw the tv remotes so hard the batteries flew out; threw the playmat and baby nest across the room; pulled A's arm really hard to get him off my lap when I was trying to give him a feed before I left and hit me when I tried to stop her.

Fingers crossed she'd calmed down when I left, but today is d-day for MIL continuing childcare!

I've gone for carrot & stick: if she's naughty the seat willcome off the swing frame until she behaves. If she's good she gets a yellow alice band to match her favourite dress.

And I'll leave work early because I've yet to see my boss and be given anything to do, and to be honest nobody would notice if I didn't turn up at all!

MaMaPo · 14/06/2013 08:35

Oh beasty that sounds terribly tough. All these changes must be difficult for her to manage. Fx she behaves and your childcare arrangements get to stay put!

FoD, I hope your little mister feels better soon. I agree with beasty, surely visitors are the last thing you need?

It's my birthday today and so far it's lovely - cuddles with my husband and baby C, pain au chocolate for breakfast (which I went out - sans baby - to get, which is a treat in itself!) and some lovely gifts. Off to have lunch with my husband during his lunch break today too. Feel very happy.

Thanks for the napping info everyone. C will nap in her pram but only when we're out. I've never tried putting her down in the pram inside for a sleep - though we do have a sunshade which helps her sleep when we're out. I wonder if that would help. I have read some things about helping baby transition into a second sleep cycle by going in at about minute 38, looking for the first stirrings, and shush patting them so they stay asleep. Apparently they can then learn to transition themselves? I might just leave it - before I messed everything up by going to Australia she would occasionally have 1.5 hour naps. Maybe if I'm patient she'll do it again. WL, love the idea of all naps in the garden - if I had one, I'd do that! I could put her on the balcony but it smells like the chippy in the next street, and we live next to a fire station, so not the most peaceful of environments!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 08:46

Happy birthday mama!

You might find once she's weaned and on the move she will have a long lunchtime nap as she will have a full tummy.

WLmum · 14/06/2013 09:28

Happy birthday mama!
Our garden (not very long) backs directly onto the railway line - southwest trains route to Waterloo so not always very peaceful either, especially when there's men on the track and the trains honk their horns, but it never wakes her!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 10:26

He's been asleep for nearly two hours Shock

Barbeasty · 14/06/2013 10:38

Happy birthday mama. Hope you get a bit of sun today too.

When I first started doing a technical role on the railway my boss & I popped out on site with his baby in the car, parked next to the track. Of course every train going past had to blow their horn at us, but the baby slept through.

Fingers crossed it's ok. DD desperately wants the yellow alice band.... As DH left he heard her saying "Come upstairs Granny. I want to show you a secret, which is my pirate costume." So they're friends for now!

I just went to express a bit, because A was too distracted by the tantrum to feed, and at the end my nipple was bleeding. Hope this is a one off, because it's gone pretty well so far. I've been getting almost 2 bottles across working day, and just topping up to.complete when I get home. Which fits with the 2 bottles A is now taking at nursery (yipee. Staff were happier than I was!)

Anthony is 6 months today, so official weaning can start.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/06/2013 10:48

Could be the pump Barbeasty? The tommee Tippee manual pump made me bleed with dd but my spectra has been fine even with the one and a half weeks exclusive pumping

MiamiMe · 14/06/2013 10:49

Morning ladies. Am new to mumsnet and saw this thread and wondered if I could join you. I am a first time mum to DD who was born end of Dec 2012. Would love to share my experiences with you all as well as get advice etc...

I am ebfing DD and have just started weaning. Introducing a bit of cereal for brunch which she seems to take well. Going to do a mix of BLW and PLW.

mama happy birthday to you. Sounds like you have a lovely day ahead. Enjoy.

MaMaPo · 14/06/2013 10:54

Welcome Miami!

My birthday present from baby C is a tooth! I can just see it poking through, and feel the hard ridge. She's feeding now but I can't feel it, thank god! She hasn't fussed at all while it has been coming through.

MiamiMe · 14/06/2013 10:58

Wow! How exciting. Is that baby C's first? Fingers crossed it doesn't affect feeding. It's what I'm dreading. No teeth for us yet. Just lots of dribbling and sucking Smile.

halestone · 14/06/2013 11:39

We've had a huge sleep in H only woke up at 11 GrinGrin

Happy Birthday Mama ThanksWineand congratulations on C's first tooth.

Welcome Miami Smile

Ignoring hales Wink

I just went to see a friend who's eight days overdue her first was a week early so she's very fed up!

WLmum · 14/06/2013 13:41

That's great expressing beasty. I've decided I won't express at work - Tabs will be 8.5 months by then and I only work 3 days and shortish days at that so hoping I'll be able to do first thing, last thing and one other feed depending on shift. Hope dd is being a good pirate! There's a book called my granny is a pirate - they could bond over it!

Welcome miami

Mega sleep hales

Barbeasty · 14/06/2013 18:51

Last time DD was 1, so I didn't have to do it. I compressed my hours into 4 days so have long days. Hopefully the volume will keep coming in the day. It's far less stressful than morning/ evening with the DC around.

Good news is the promise of the hairband kept DD on her best behaviour and child care will continue for now!

I'm looking forward to a lie in tomorrow (anything beyond 5am!)

2blessed · 14/06/2013 19:03

Happy birthday mama
