It would seem this only feeding off one boob over night and pumping from the other in the morning means expressed a lot of milk!

WLmum · 13/06/2013 09:28

Yep 7 am was an unattainable dream! She was up at 5.50 so I took her to our bed to feed thinking I'd pass her over to DH but she fell asleep on the boob so I popped her back in her cot for a bit. I feel that we're def making progress though.

MaMaPo · 13/06/2013 10:35

Good work WL. Our sleep training is really paying off - down for both naps today with less than 15 minutes of fussing and no crying. Once she's consistently falling asleep OK then I will work on helping her extend her naps so she can get at least one longer than 45 minutes.

How many naps do your LOs have? Charlotte has one about 1.5 hours after waking up, another around midday and then again around 3-4pm. None of them longer than 45 mins. At what age do they start going down to 2 naps? And it is the afternoon nap that gets dropped first?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/06/2013 11:09

Afternoon nap goes first ime. Around ten months? Then when it goes down to one nap some have them in the morning and some at lunchtime. These things just depend on the baby

WillYouDoTheFandango · 13/06/2013 12:14

Mawnin' all. Technically afternoon but never mind. J had a good night last night but I couldn't sleep until 1:30, he then woke at 4:10 and I couldn't sleep until 5:30. I spent the time reading our old antenatal threads and wanting to do it all over again Confused I completely skimmed the bad bits and focused on the warm fuzzy bits.

J's naps have increased loads the last couple of days. Now to crack settling himself. I've given him a Plum porridge today, apricot and banana flavour. He loved it, he'd have eaten and eaten. I had to cut him off because he doesn't drink much milk during the day as it is!

halestone · 13/06/2013 12:56

Mama we have 3 naps one around 11am, one around 4 pm and one at 8:30pm all last about half an hour although sometimes the 4pm one can last longer. Bedtime is 11pm with wake ups around 5am and 8am then up for the day around 9:30am.

Feel much better today me and DP have come up with a plan for going back to work Grin

Willyou how many oz does J tend to drink per day?

WLmum · 13/06/2013 15:02

That's good news hales a plan always makes me feel better.
mama Ts naps are governed by what we're doing with the other 2 - she almost always has a nap during the morning school run but its only about 30 mins, then the last few days a longer nap of 2-30 hours about noon and then a 5-10 min power nap on the boob around 5 or 6. If she has a longer morning nap then she is up until school pick up about 2.30 which might be an hour. Then bed about 8.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 13/06/2013 15:02

Last ninth he was having 49oz a day Hales, which was ridiculous. This week he's having about 36-40oz but he has around half of that at bedtime as he is refusing to eat all day. I've only started solids in earnest this week and only 1 meal a day. Glad you've hot a work plan sorted

SpottyTeacakes · 13/06/2013 15:17

WillYou it's definitely their age ds is awful for feeding in the day. Of we're out he's not interested at all!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 13/06/2013 15:21

That's good to know. Least I'm not alone, the only pain is changing his nappy in the night as he weed so much not even a size 4 pampers could hold it.

Just had an awkward moment, a lady I sit with at baby group just told me a story I read in AIBU. It's definitely her as she's on the November thread. I didn't let on I had recognised her. I think that's correct mumsnettiquette isn't it? see what I did there?

WLmum · 13/06/2013 15:31

Haha willyou!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/06/2013 15:40

Ooo what story?? Was it her or 'someone she knows'?!

I haven't done anything today Blush dd is at MIL's, I went to the dentist this morning, then got Father's Day cards and some wrapping paper (£20!!!!Shock) came home ate lunch. Step mum popped in for a couple of hours once she went I had some more lunch Blush and that's it....

WillYouDoTheFandango · 13/06/2013 15:53

Sounds like a good day Spotty. I've just done level 2 of the shred. Had to have a 15 minute sit down after it and then cleaned the bathroom/dusted upstairs. J had an overtired meltdown at baby group and had now been asleep 2 hours! Shock

It wasn't an interesting one, just about a broken car seat. But it's quite a distinctive story and I was looking at her like this Hmm wondering where id already heard it Grin Other mnetters do exist!

SpottyTeacakes · 13/06/2013 16:52

Argh they've closed Hindhead tunnel both ways!! Dp is working in Hindhead and I need to know if he needs me to pick dd up obviously he isn't answering his phone...and has no credit....

IsThatTrue · 13/06/2013 19:46

willyou are you sure other mumsnetters exist?! I have this weird feeling you're all just figments of my imagination Wink

We have 2/3 naps a day. Morning around 9.30/10 for 1-1 1/2 hrs, lunchtime either for 30 mins or 2hrs, if a short lunchtime nap he then naps 2-3. He may have a min 'boob nap' at around 5 but that's it. He usually doesn't sleep after the big dcs are home. Then he feeds to sleep between 7 and 8.

DS 'crawled' more commando crawl than crawl across the living room today 3meters it's the furthest he's gone. But it's made him much less shouty now he can get around happily.

WLmum · 13/06/2013 20:25

Wow isthat 3 metres is a long way! T is making progress but think it will be a while before she's actually on the move.

ddas · 13/06/2013 22:04

So bloody tired!! When dh gets back next week operation move dd into her own room & sleep training begins.

Naps we have morning, midday but starting to drop afternoon one. Only has it if we happen to be in car.

ddas · 13/06/2013 22:08

All the December babies on the move! Although exciting to see dd crawling (caterpillar slowly being replaced by proper crawling lol) so much more difficult with 2 mobile children! Especially as ds has lots of toy with potentially chokeable parts. Need to put all those bits away and bring them out when she's asleep.

MaMaPo · 13/06/2013 22:15

Thanks for nap info. For those who nap longer than 45 minutes - do they do it themselves, or have you had to intervene to increase nap length?

C has been good going down awake for all sleeps today (except for one in the pram) but still won't nap longer than 45. I really think she needs more sleep in the day - she gets 11 hours at night (minus a feed - around 15-30 mins) and has 3 naps of 45 min max.

ddas · 13/06/2013 22:27

The around midday one which last from 1.5-2 hrs is in the pram-stationary though & put her in awake and she slowly drifts off. Can't get her to do it in her cot and means if she wakes can push her to sleep but normally no need. When warm put the pram in Garden & the old fashioned fresh air helps them sleep longer is def true for her!

WLmum · 13/06/2013 22:31

T does it herself mama, I don't think there's anything I could do to make her sleep longer. The only thing is moving her from the car seat to the pram as she never stays asleep in the car seat but I know that's not an issue for you. Could it be a light thing? I've got a snooze shade for the car seat ehich is fab, they do one for prams to which could be worth a shot.
We had a sleep training win tonight - she woke at 9.30 and I did pick her up in case she had wind but after a quick cuddle I put her down again and she didn't require any settling at all! Previously always required boob.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 13/06/2013 22:32

Mamapo DS will only have 45 mins in cot/on couch, but will have 2-3 h in pram/car seat/on me. It's completely hit and miss but if he doesn't have a long morning nap I take him out in pram/car and he'll sleep.

WLmum · 13/06/2013 22:33

All Ts naps are outside in the pram come rain or shine (or snow!)

IsThatTrue · 13/06/2013 22:49

Daytime naps are in sling/buggy on the move if out. But normally in buggy in living room, if he stirs before I think he's ready to wake I give it a push, he may go back off he may not.

ddas I hear you on the toys. Dd was 2 when ds1 was born and at that age she didn't have things with small parts really, and if she did they were'supervised toys' whereas now at 8+6 there are marbles, beads, bouncy balls, Barbuda shoes, etc etc etc, all over my house. I find myself constantly repeating 'have you mo ed everything out of ds2s reach?!' In a slightly manic manor!

utopian99 · 14/06/2013 01:56

Thanks for the well wishes.. ds still v sniffy but seems okay otherwise.
He also has a nap 1-1.5hrs after waking but on weekends goes back to sleep after a 6.30 ish feed so it might just be that he has to come with me to drop dh at the station on weekdays.

isthat and ddas wow on crawling! Nothing here, I always forget that ds was one of the last babies so very Envy that the others do everything first, although equally nervous of the hazards crawling will entail.

Have just listened to ds settle himself after I thoroughly woke him up with two nappy changes in a row though. Grin Hmm
