Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

happyhow · 28/05/2013 17:58

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

Hi all, welcome loveitall!

DD is not a fan of lumps if i gave it her as a spoon fed meal, but but will happily scoff down a crumpet or bread!
We have the same problem with the spoon, so I give her a spoon and I have a spoon, seems to work!

DD had mastered crawling Shock time to baby proof

Lora1982 · 31/07/2013 08:34

The blind worked!! Woo.

After this annabel talk I ordered one off ebay last night. Hopefully it will improve my baby food making skills. He must be bored of the stuff I've done.

mrsbugsywugsy · 31/07/2013 09:43

Welcome loveitall.

Great news about the blind lora. We have a gro blind which sounds like the same thing.

Dd always eats in her bumbo. We have the tray for it which stops her from escaping. Her thighs are pretty chunky these days and I have to put her legs through the gaps to get her in now.

happy I hate the dentist too but best go now while it's still free Smile

Meringue33 · 31/07/2013 11:07

I am v proud, managed to cook two meals from scratch in the slow cooker using baby stock so we could all eat the same thing. Well DP cooked one and I cooked one. Tarka Dhal and Lemon Chicken. LO loved them both :D

Angielka · 31/07/2013 11:43

Hello love and welcome Smile

I don't know what's going on. Sleep is bad again. Even the wonder weeks can't explain anything as we're apparently in the middle of a sunny period Confused Lora we had a wake up at 4am yesterday and no intention to go back to sleep. I was coping with the multiple wakings only because of the knowledge it would be a quick feed and straight back to sleep. Didn't happen again this morning, although the day started at 6am Hmm

Teeth 3 and 4 might explain things, as everything is getting chomped, or her not being able to switch off because she is desperately trying to pull herself up and scrabbling with her legs when she's on her front. So far she hasn't moved far but that could be because of the folds of fat holding her back but things are definitely being worked on there.

We seem to have got through the gaggy stage quite quick with the blw. I was on the point of giving up because I got so stressed at the thought of it but we seem to be through the worst fingers crossed

apple glad you told dp to pull his weight. Tell him again until it gets done Smile

CreepyCrawly · 31/07/2013 12:31

Welcome loveitall!

Good luck with the dentist happy. Rather you than me.

Bad sleep here too. I think it's maybe teething, her head gets quite warm in the evenings and she's very restless. Off to my mums for the day tomorrow so hoping that'll tire her out and she'll go back to sleeping all night again!

Also ordering the recipe books. It's like Ewan all over again!

Loveitall · 31/07/2013 12:44

just lost wjat i was typing!! grrr, here goes again - shortened version however!!
sleep - all good slept from 7 to 7 again.

feeding - doing a mixture of spoon and blw, hubby not keen on blw because of the gagging!

Going to try giving him his own spoon so not always grabbing mine!

also scuttling off to buy an annabel karmel book - hope i dont getting into a bidding war with any of you on ebay!!

Good luck at the eveil dentist happy.

Birdies · 31/07/2013 13:45

After saying I was worried about X not sitting....she is now sitting unsupported! Well, for a good few minutes anyway. I'm pleased :). Would like her to make some noises other than grunts and squeals though, but must be patient!

Sorry about the lack of sleep angiel. I'm still doing two feeds a night and very early waking but moving her into her own room soon so maybe that will help [hopes]

Welcome love

Re feeding - X doesn't open her mouth at all for food - I have to push the end of the spoon into her closed little mouth! Then she just sucks a bit off. Anything I can do about that or will it just happen with time? Also should I be cutting the breastfeeding down or doing feeds at set times rather than on demand? As otherwise I'm not sure she's hungry enough when Im trying solid food. I should know really but DD1 was on formula by now and was like a little bird opening her mouth for all different sorts of food.

Birdies · 31/07/2013 13:50

Ps I'm not sure if anyone else worries like me (!), but if so, the lesson for me is that one day they can be not doing something, and the next day they suddenly start doing it out of nowhere!

Pps happy hope dentist wasn't too bad. I hate going too, and it usually costs me alot cos they always say I need a new filling (perhaps i should cut down on chocolate)

Lostbobbles · 31/07/2013 15:15

Welcome Love

Hope Dentist goes ok Happy, I don't mind going but any mention of needles and I'm off.

yay on sitting and crawling Birdies/Lolli! DD2 has manage a few co-ordinated moves but still keeps doing the 'downward facing dog' yoga move. Grin

Angie sorry you had crappy night, I was in the club DD2 full of cold and had high temperature and just wouldn't settle Hmm

Going for a nap now, mil has kindly taken DD1 swimming. (not that she deserved to go after this mornings antics) but too tired to be arsed with discipline today

AppleCrumples · 31/07/2013 15:23

birdies Ivy is no4 and i still worry even though i know they generally get there in the end! She also isn't keen to open her mouth properly for spoon but happy to destroy any toast that comes her way

lora yay on the blind and sleeping.

happy hope dentist not too evil bur at least its free at the mo.

angie sorry sleep bad. Ivy ia still up to feed once or twice a night and usually settkes after feed but recently she seems to have trouble getting back to sleep.

We have an ancient and v battered Annabel Karmel that i've dug out but have been very lazy with her food. Lots of toast and some bought purees. Ds1 w had the best weaning diet but i had more time then!

happyhow · 31/07/2013 15:52

Dentist was fine. Got to get a filling replaced and another tiny one but have to go back as he didn't have time today.

I've got the 100 best purées, weaning and baby and toddler meal planner books. There's loads of different recipes. Made the curry last week for B and hubby and I ended up having it too! Today it's been beef casserole with sweet potato and apple and an apple and blueberry compote.

Have made slight progress with the bottles. He took some water from one this morning and will tolerate one with formula in his mouth now. He generally just bites down and plays with the teat but we got a couple of sucks this morning! Just all about perseverance....

I haven't strapped him into his bumbo just now so he's taking the opportunity to eat the clasp...

Also, weighed myself before and after feeding Bailey this morning and I lost a pound!! ShockShock

Yay Birdies/Lolli!!

Angielka · 31/07/2013 16:07

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I'm not at my best when sleep-deprived. I'm with both girls on my own all week and I already snapped today when DD1 refused to nap.

birdies glad to hear X is sitting and you are happy Smile - they change so quickly, you're so right.

creepy good luck at your mum's - Nancy has to carry on sleeping through the night. She is the one who gives me hope for Molly Wink

lost hope you enjoyed your nap Envy

Just watching Molly giggling and dancing in her activity station thing and it's lovely! I didn't realise she could turn herself around yet. They go on developing when you stop watching, it's not fair!!

Angielka · 31/07/2013 16:08

Wow happy shows how much they eat! Shock

newtothenet · 01/08/2013 06:24

Sorry to those of you with wakey babies. We're still on anything from two or more night feeds then awake about 6am. I'm also currently trying to encourage dd to nap in her cot as she'll only sleep while being pushed in the pram at the moment, which is no good in the rain!

For those of you wanting an antilop high chair but don't live near ikea, I've just seen one that looks virtually the same on the mothercare website - £25 and free delivery to your nearest store.

Loveitall · 01/08/2013 07:57

Well ds didn't make it thru last night. When I went up to bed he was laying wide awake and started gurgling, so a late night feed it was and then normal service resumed. Just getting up here and feeding, then is pooling around the house and preparing to paint his bedroom ready for him to move in....then baby clinic for weighing this afternoon.

Have a good day everyone x

Pascha · 01/08/2013 09:09

Good morning everybody! I am relishing a rare silent hour here as DS1 is out with his nana and Daniel is zzzzzing on my bed - with pillows all around under the duvet acting as bumpers. There's no way he will go back in his cot this early in the day although he likes it later on.

Hello Love, not sure if I saw you before or not? Welcome to the happy throng of non-sleeping, teething, eating (or not), screamers (and thats just the parents)

I saw the mothercare highchair on the website, its a possibility although the baby in the picture doesn't look all that snug - seat looks wide. I might have to have a look in person. There is a secondhand Antilop on ebay which I'm watching - finishes on saturday.

Angie hope you have had a better nights sleep. I know that I can't function at all well on broken sleep. Dan seems to manage well enough though. That activity station is the one they have at toddler group and he looks very cute bouncing and spinning away in it - gives me a free arm as well Grin

Can you all believe it I'm already looking at footmuffs and the like for the winter and thinking about autumn clothes for DS1 who is bursting out of everything he owns. The nights are drawing in already...

Pascha · 01/08/2013 14:46

DH just booked the snip for Friday 13th September. Thats going to go well then isn't it...

Lostbobbles · 01/08/2013 15:02

Always time for one more PaschaWink

Lostbobbles · 01/08/2013 15:02

Friday 13th is that wise!

Angielka · 01/08/2013 15:38

Ha ha pascha good luck to you both then Smile

Lostbobbles · 01/08/2013 16:59

Children's party organising is not fun, also need inspiration for party bag ideas but can't think-find anything original that hasn't been done already. guess it's going to be usual bag of tat, that they love, parents hate

Other news going to have to drop or down to next level, caught madam on the video monitor earlier trying to figure out potential for abseiling. Shock

BuntyCollocks · 02/08/2013 06:12

Welcome, love

Sorry to those still struggling as I am with sleep. :(

pascha am Envy of your quiet hour. Friday 13th haha! I hope he's having a local. I hear they let the med students fiddle about under a general ;)

Am pissed off. Talked to hv yest about c's sleep - she said to try giving her water instead of feeding her during night, as with what she's eating in day time, she's not likely hungry - plus, I can set my clock by her - every 3 hours - so it's probably learned behaviour.

Asked dh to do it, as likelihood of her settling with me when I am full and smell of milk is zero. He got me to do first wakening. I held off feeding her for 30 m before she started to really whinge, and I worried about her waking ds.

Second wakening, I had to get him and make him do it. Eight fucking minutes before he brought her into our bed. I'm raging. He's the one telling me what we're doing isn't working, but he does this? Utter arsehole.

Also tried controlled crying yesterday. Absolute bust. She didn't nap for the whole day as she got herself so upset. I think I may never sleep again.

I think going back to work I may regain my title as scariest person in the office as ill be so sleep deprived ill just chew the idiots up and spit them out.

Pascha · 02/08/2013 08:27

Grin He scared himself youtubing the procedure and ended up on some french clinic site with the whole general anaesthetic/night in hospital/scalpel close-up video. I reassured him its fifteen minutes in the local GP surgery here using heat not knives and he can walk out not long afterwards.

Poor you Bunty. I really hope Cameron learns to sleep again soon.

Lost Shock indeed! They are all up to mischief now aren't they? Dan has been on the bottom level since he went in the cot because its borrowed and I couldn't be arsed to alter it all for only a few weeks. He routinely shuffles round and round it on his tummy now. Thank goodness he's in his own room now - far too noisy.

On the party bag thing how old are the kids? The one I liked best was a sticker/colouring book wrapped in brown paper and a pack of cheap colouring pencils. This was for 3year olds though so if they're 8 it won't interest them.

Lots of low rumbly thunder here this morning and much fresher. Lovely.

lollipoppi · 02/08/2013 10:20

Grin Pascha! I've told DP to go for the snip as I keep forgetting to take my stupid pill!

Just put DD down for nap and the fecking bin men just turned up and woke her Confused

Off to brave the supermarket with 2 kids today, always ends in disaster ... Wish me luck !
