Jan 2013 Part 4: More noises, movements and more sleep?! Hmmmm

New thread!

I leave B during the night until he's making persistent noise - I don't usually wake up til then anyway! He's always wide awake; he's never done the dream feed thing. I tickle under his neck or blow gently on his face to keep him awake...

He's still in with us but will be going in his own room once his blackout blind arrives and we've given it a good Hoover. Probably in the next week or so.

B is still mostly in 0-3 clothes Shock. I've started putting him in 3-6 vests but his other things mostly look far too big on him still (he's 19weeks). Sainsburys stuff is bigger though, as is Asda.

Hubby has taken B out for a long walk so that I can get some of this marking done. Bailey seemed to think that 3 15min naps today was acceptable so he's been doing my head in and I've gotten absolutely nothing done. He's just point blank refused to sleep today.

They really are so busy now aren't they?!

I'm going to tesco today. By myself. For the first time.

CreepyCrawly · 30/07/2013 11:51

I like the look of that highchair pascha. I'm finding ours a pain because she's still a bit small for it so needs propping up. And we don't have a table at the moment so it has to be dragged through from the building site dining room everytime.

Angielka · 30/07/2013 13:08

The antilop is wonderful. Easy to clean, supportive for them to sit up in, totally basic and un-beautiful but it does the job. Since starting this BLW stuff I've been so grateful for the lack of padding and creases for food to get stuck in!

lollipoppi · 30/07/2013 13:38

It must be an old style then, it was Coles when he was a baby. She arched her back then twisted out of it! Still in shock!

Creepy good luck with your visit to tesco!

Birdies · 30/07/2013 14:25

Ooh I've just posted about highchairs. If the antilop had a foot rest it would be perfect for me (its for my 2 year old DD)

Birdies · 30/07/2013 14:29

lost glad you had a good holiday.

lora & pascha the shiver and propelling sound very cute!

Is a sippy cup the same as a tommee tippee spout cup?

Meringue33 · 30/07/2013 15:42

Good luck at Tesco Creepy. This LO enjoys it a lot more since he's old enough to sit in the big boy seat in the trolley, flirting with all the women looking around at everything. All I keep hearing is "Ooh what a lovely smile!"

Pascha we've put guardrails on the bed! They don't go all the way round tho :O

Happy I think shewhosnamemustnotbementioned suggests introducing a 7pm bottle of formula first. Then 11am. Then 11pm if still feeding then; then 2.30pm then 7am. One bottle per week. NB if over six mo think they're supposed to be on 4x210ml at end, all daytime and in theory they sleep through!

Lora I love their sense of humour. Did not expect a little baby to have one! He laughed out loud when I burped at the dinner table. And he chuckles when I whisper things to him. And he's invented his own joke which is to hold onto his vest when I try to pull it off, giggling away at the little tug of war.

Just took him to the self weigh. CBA to undress so not quite accurate but appears to have jumped above the 75th centile since starting solids! This from a baby who was born on the 25th centile then fell to 9th. I thought he was feeling really heavy these days!

Pascha · 30/07/2013 17:19

Thats it Creepy Daniel just falls about in his highchair, I have to pad him out or he falls about, even though he can sit well.

Birdies we changed DS1 from highchair to booster seat permanently at about 20 months, like this one. It was originally just kept in the car for days out and its migrated indoors permanently now. He doesn't need buckling up anymore, just the height boost.

Angie I'm glad you rate the Antilop, I'm scouting local selling sites and ebay now for a cheap one.

Tesco? Sod that. Delivery all the way for me.

glorious · 30/07/2013 18:34

pascha you can get the antilop delivered from ikea too if that appeals. Can't remember how much it costs but not heaps.

We had a better night last night so fingers crossed... trying not to get too excited though. Tomorrow is solids day, bet she's not fussed though and ignores the lovingly steamed veg fingers Grin

Loveitall · 30/07/2013 20:38

Hi all, I've only just really started on mums net so thought I would join in this thread if ok. My lb is6 months tomorrow, born late January...looking forward to chatting with you x

happyhow · 30/07/2013 21:04

Welcome Love! We're good at chatting here... Wink

Thanks meringue. I've been trying him at every feed just in the hope that something will click with him. I'm ready to stop feeding so it's just annoying that he won't take the bottle from us at the mo. Tried a different bottle today as the teet was different but still no success. Will look into latex ones.

On highchairs, we bought the East Coast wooden folding one. I really don't like the big plasticky ones so it goes nicely with all the wood in our house. Bailey seems pretty happy in it!

happyhow · 30/07/2013 21:24

Loveitall · 30/07/2013 21:33

AppleCrumples · 30/07/2013 21:38

Hi all

loveitall welcome :)

pascha Ivy tried our old bumbo but hated it. She too has such huge thighs it was never gonna work.

Our highchair is a mamas ans papas that we werw given. Its horrid and plasticjy bur does thw job. No need to pad she doesn't have a lot of room chunky monkey

She is now trying to sit herself up at all times. Fine on the floor not so helpful mid bf. Though maybe this will
f help her move to.more solids

AppleCrumples · 30/07/2013 21:49

Not surw what happened there!

Told dp he needs to take all 4 to park at least a couple of times whilst he is off so i can get a break and try to clean/ tidy without them instantly making a mess He never seems to get it tho. I takw them all the time but when i suggest he takes them i get this face Confused as if he couldn't possibly take all 4!

octanegirl · 30/07/2013 22:00

Hi everyone,
Well, sleepng is still good.
Eating is still bad!
He will chew away on bread and things. Not sure he swallows though.
Hates being spoon fed, will grab the spoon himself but then smack himself with it and flip the food across the room so can't very well just let him get on with it on his own.
Plus I have zero imagination when it comes to giving him things to eat! I've bought the Annabel Karmel book but it hasn't arrived yet.
He did seem to like organic rhubarb yoghurt today though....

Loveitall · 30/07/2013 22:12

I am aiming for night 2 of sleep through. Up until last night he has been having a dream feed at around 10, but now we have started weaning decided to try dropping. Last night went really well...slept from 7 to 6, here's hoping tonight goes as well!

Loveitall · 30/07/2013 22:12

Hi octane, would be interested to hear about how things go with the annabel kamel recipes

glorious · 30/07/2013 22:13

Welcome love. My DD was born on 31st January too Smile

AppleCrumples · 30/07/2013 22:19

Octane if it helps that sounds perfectly nornal! He is learning and getting used to you offering food. I try to sneak spoona in whilst she is distracted with some finger food. Its messy but they all end up fully weaned eventually then all you will hear is mum can i have.. And your fridge will always be empty Grin

Loveitall · 30/07/2013 22:20

Hi glorious

newbie6 · 30/07/2013 22:21

Hi all,

I have the annabel Karmel book, up to now I'm afraid to say auntie Ella's kitchen has been a great friend! DP cooked recipes out of the book on Sunday but my LO has given it mixed reviews! Think its because we can't purée it as smoothly as he is used to, he still takes it but not with as much gusto and he has gagged a couple of times which wasn't great but will keep persevering as sure he will be better once his teeth come through and he is more used to the different textures. My HV told me not to give him anything too chunky etc until he could sit independently and at the moment he is still toppling over so hopefully as time goes on he will like daddy's food :)

X

Lora1982 · 30/07/2013 23:06

Refuse to be woken up at six again so ive made a blind with my darkroom black out material and suckers. Lets hope it works :-D

Hello Loveitall!

Ive got two highchairs I was given, chico mama and happy snack. Not really tried them out properly I usually feed him in one of those small rocky chairs... or while he's on the sofa with me slothern hes happy with lumps too, well bean size lumps because he's giving me the eyes and the excited shiver just because I'm eating MY breakfast.

Think teeth number 3&4 will be appearing soon he's forever clamping down on things witb his gums and been late to persuade to sleep for a couple of nights :(

happyhow · 31/07/2013 08:04

I've got 3 of the Annabel Karmel books and I love them! Bailey hasn't turned his nose up at any of the recipes yet. We're starting on some of the more adventurous stuff too and will be spending today making some more stuff...

I've got the dentist today. I don't like the dentist.
