Hi ladies

Just thought we could all really do with this. Rather selfish a its mostly for the thousand odd questions I have and things I'd like to share/ vent that no one else would understand.

We've all been together so long I even talk about you all to DP Smile

Does anyone's LO's have clicky hips? During S's checks at the hospital they mentioned concerns about her hips and referred her to a specialist. They didn't say how serious it was though or what problems it would bring for her and I stupidly forgot to ask Blush.

TigerSwallowTail · 18/06/2013 09:50

And one last question, how often are LO's having dirty nappies? S is only having a dirty nappy once a day or less, she had none yesterday and hasn't went today yet either, should I be concerned? She's 2 weeks old now but has only been like this for about a week and was having far more dirty nappies in her first week.

NoForkNKnife · 18/06/2013 10:19

No clicky hips, but we are going for a hip scan tomorrow. Routine in breech deliveries (apparently sections too Hmm ) but there was no mention of her orientation in my delivery notes-so it's a precaution.
And as for dirty nappies-we only have poo once a week. Exactly 7 days apart. She went numerous times a day in the beginning. No one seems concerned so I've given up worrying.

FrustratedSycamoresRocks · 18/06/2013 12:15

Ds is pooing numerous times a day. Dd1 pooed once a week.

mrsmooms · 18/06/2013 12:32

NoFork, am pleased to hear we're not the only ones lacking poos! DD goes only every 3 or 4 days, although it is a proper explosion each time .. Can tell when it's due from the increasingly copious and stinky wind!

Boodstress · 18/06/2013 12:38

I get delivery of a massive poo an hour after 1.30 feed in the night - such a pain .. Hope she swaps for first thing in the morning.

ButteryJam re Nipple Shields - I use the medela ones. You have to make sure you have the right size. For me it's Medela M (20mm). If yours keeps slipping off, try a smaller size maybe?

Bunnychan · 18/06/2013 13:38

tiger my LO is being monitored for clicky hips as I had it when I was a baby. We're waiting for a scan date.
I've just brought some nipple shields; they're really helping as I've gotten sore again. Bollocks to it being poor latch; more like LO wanting constant feeding.
Really pleased tho; she's slept from 11am -1am the last two days, I've finally got some jobs done :-)

Bunnychan · 18/06/2013 13:56

Lol! 1pm even! X

rachywhite83 · 18/06/2013 15:50

we have been sleeping well. 9pm till 3am then through till 8am ! 1 very happy mummy here !

Boodstress · 18/06/2013 16:53

Good going! We are getting a 5-6 hrs here too but it starts much earlier so can't really make the most of it !

BeauticianNotMagician · 18/06/2013 17:09

Ahh so jealous. Don't know what's going on here at the moment.

The last week T cluster feeds in the evenings. Nothing else is settling him. So it has been bottle of 4oz at 4pm, bottle of 2oz at 6pm, bottle of 4oz at 9pm and then it takes about an hour for him to go to sleep and he wakes again at 2.30 am, 6.30am and then every three hours in the day. Hmmm

beaut I don't think we even get a 3hr stretch.

BeauticianNotMagician · 18/06/2013 18:24

Ah sorry I guess I have been quite lucky all 3 of mine have fallen into a 3 or 4 hour pattern. Usually kicks in at week two.

5wks tomorrow, and typical non sleepers in my house beaut

TigerSwallowTail · 18/06/2013 19:28

Literally just after I posted earlier, W had a big leaky nappy that went everywhere, I guess she's not constipated anymore!

Have your clicky hips caused a lot of problems for you bunny?

ButteryJam · 18/06/2013 19:47

My LO is not constipated but cries when she is pooing. Anyone know whether that is normal?

Also, as she's a month old now, thought I'd record down how the day went between 9 and 5, in an attempt to get into some routine (see below). Would love to get your feedback and advice, as its all a mess at this stage.

-----

RB = right breast. LB = left breast

9:30 - 15 min feed on RB
9:45 - sleep
10:50 - nappy change
10:55 - fed for 10 min on LB
11:10 - sleep
11:55 - fed for 5-10 min
12:05: unsettled so sleeping on my chest
13:20 - feed on LB for 25-30 min
13:50 - play
14:20- fed on RB for 10 min
14:30 - nappy change
14:35 - playing on changing mat
14:45 - 15:10 - trying to settle her
15:10 - settled on my chest and slept
15:50 - feeding from RB for 15 min (came on to poo initially) then did ultee
16:15 - nappy change
16:20 - trying to settle her
16:45 - feed on RB for 10 min
17:00 - sleep

---

Any advice?? Thanks in advance!

ButteryJam · 18/06/2013 19:50

Rhienne and Bunnychan, thank you! I got the small nipple sheilds from medela and they are a better fit. Also, I agree, it's too much feeding that made my nipples sore in the 1st place!

Btw has anyone got any recommendations for a sling? Need to desperately get one, but really need one that is very easy to put on.

ButteryJam · 18/06/2013 19:52

Rachy, wow I must say! I once had a 4 hour gap at night and was over the moon :)

NoForkNKnife · 18/06/2013 20:31

Buttery I've just ordered the caboo. It's similar to a wrap but slips on like a carrier. Been looking on eBay but they kept going for between £30-£40! With most at higher end Shock. So I took the plunge and ordered a new one off mothercare as its 15% off £100 (added a few other things that I needed) so I'm counting it as being £45. Looks like I'll get most of it back.
The only thing I'd say about your day is that she doesn't feed for long so therefore demands more often.
A is 4 weeks (corrected) too, and when she bf (doing both) she can easily spend over half an hour there. Have you tried keeping her awake at feeds? A has also fallen into a 3-4 hr pattern but can feed constantly in the evening. But we often get 4-6 hour stretches at night x2! And I still feel knackered! Don't know how you all cope.

NoForkNKnife · 18/06/2013 20:32

Oh, Mothercare offer finishes tonight btw.

Bunnychan · 19/06/2013 02:15

tiger I've had no problems at all. My mom was advised to put two toweling nappies on me in the Boys style of fastening them and this corrected it. Now my LO has to be closely monitored for it as its hereditary.

My LO has been going 3-4 hours at a time at night. I'm finding that quite manageable. I hope she at least keeps that up x

ButteryJam · 19/06/2013 06:55

Nfork, thank you! The caboo looks very comfy. Once you receive it id be interested in knowing whether it is easy to slide on and off. I'm not very good with the pushchair and hope to use the sling instead.
