Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

Crikey cheese you must be totally exhausted! Time to put your feet up for a minute.

ann I'm not crafty at all but I imagine snipping vertical slits would work. I haven't bought any nursing clothes and just hoik up my top. I use my nursing if I need to be discreet.

catherine and candy, yay for your LOs rolling over.

T has yet to lift her head during tummy time, she's 10 weeks so not sure whether worried or dramatically increasing her amount of tummy time.

I went to a mums exercise group with T yesterday which was loads of fun. She was fascinated watching me and the other mums work out. It felt so good to do some exercise but I still couldn't resist the biscuit tin this afternoon, whoops!

Trishstar · 05/07/2013 09:10

2nd lot of injections today :-(

usernamegoeshere · 05/07/2013 10:13

teapig baby user hasn't yet either but I don't often do tummy time, planning to increase it but she has decent head control anyways so I'm not concerned at all. Only reason I want to increase it (she hates it) is as I suspect it will help towards crawling, right now she is headed towards being a bum shuffler in my opinion which I believe is fine but takes longer to walk that way?

I might be getting ahead of myself though!

Haven't really been logging on recently too busy trying to sort out our move to Manchester but just caught up and can totally agree with a lot of things people are saying. I didn't realise they have another growth spurt around 3 months, I guess that's why this week (11 weeks old) baby bird has been fussier then usual. She has second set of jabs on Tuesday so hope she's a bit more settled by then.
Baby bird rolled over from front to back at 3 and a half weeks much to my shock and delight but she hasn't done it since Wink
We've started putting her upstairs for bed after evening feed around 8pm and it makes such a difference instead of waking every half hour she sleeps till I wake her for dream feed, guess it's too noisy and light downstairs just didn't realise how much it disturbs her....
will keep an eye on the thread and try and be more active again once we've moved!

Teapig · 05/07/2013 15:35

I hope the jabs went ok trish.
username, T has good head control too so I won't worry too much.

bird, that's interesting to hear that baby bird going upstairs after a feed has lead to better sleep. I still have T sleeping in her basket in whichever room I'm in but I keep telling DH that I will put her upstairs to bed soon. You've spurred me on Wink

SneezySnatcher · 05/07/2013 15:47

Tea I'm shocking with tummy time but H has great head control so I don't feel too bad.

Did it about twice with DD and she still managed to sit up at 4 months and walk at eight (she never rolled or crawled though so maybe TT would have helped that).

Must do more!

catherine19 · 05/07/2013 16:12

It's amazing what I'm learning apparently babies crawling affects their writing skills in the future (?), how I don't no. Has any one been to any baby yoga or 'dance' sessions? Its good fun and the science behind it is amazing. It helps to get a lovely smug feeling that we are playing and singing then I can say ooh yes these trans lateral movements will help his maths skills!

catherine19 · 05/07/2013 16:37

We did a lot of mammy tummy time where he laid on me while laying down then we got a cuddle as well x

MrsMummyP · 05/07/2013 16:39

Hello just catching up. Not had internet for a few days- felt so cut off!

Ann4New the growth spurt seems to have passed but DD had her injections this morning Sad she won't stop crying poor thing. Lots of cuddles and kisses over here.

Also on the injection front they gave her the rotavirus vaccine as well which was a liquid. Anyone else had it? Baby seemed to hate this one more than the injections.

Trishstar · 05/07/2013 19:07

H cried before the injections! I suspect he knew as MiL had to hold him and restrain arms/legs! He cried for 30seconds then was fine! Seemed to like the rotavirus drops and then wouldn't stop smiling at the nurse!!

So far he seems ok, slight temp but given him calpol, and he's still fed ok, we shall see what the night brings!

The nurse seemed surprised that I hadn't got a bottle of cooled boiled water with me to give him Shock

Dysgu · 05/07/2013 19:33

E had his third set of injections on Wednesday - he has had all of them exactly on the dot as they make the appointments at the same time. He seems to have found each set easier than the last ones. He was pretty fine on Wednesday, a bit more grizzly yesterday and has been back to his usually chatty, chirpy self today.

We spent the afternoon at the park (DD2 had a morning at 'big' school so we collected her and stayed in the park until it was time to go back for DD1) so I put sun cream on E for the first time today. I am always very careful about having him anywhere near the sun but today he was out on his blanket at the park and even in the shade it was very hot.

E is not a big fan of tummy time. He will play on his Lamaze thing like this if his sisters are around but is not keen to play on it with just me! He spends quite a lot of time in a wrap or mei tai though or on my chest so his head control is pretty good, I think.

I am fascinated to know how crawling is linked to writing skills. DD1 did not crawl until about 11-12 months and, whilst she loves to write, it often looks like a spider has crawled across the page Smile In fact, I have promised to teach her joined handwriting over the summer as she is desperate to learn.
I did do baby yoga with her too - it was fun but I am not the most flexible of people and she was a preemie so was not as interested as the others of the same age. Never mind Smile

num3onway · 05/07/2013 20:50

I looked at that Lamaze you but was concerned about older dc trying to spin her on it so thought best not! Dd rolled twice at just a few weeks but nothing since. We don't do loads of tummy time tbh but didn't with either older dc and they are fine. She has today started trying to turn from back to front, she gets stuck half way though!
We have finally got to the five recommended feeds for her age going off the milk box lol, she feeds every three hours in the day and usually goes between 8 and 10 hours at night.
Second injections didn't bother her at all! Whereas the first she was quite upset! Hopefully the third will go well too.
Has anyone thought about weaning? Seems crazy to think I weaned older dcs at 16/17 weeks due to their greed! Dd seems a million miles away and she is almost 14 weeks now. Think she will get much nearer to the recommended six months!

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 05/07/2013 20:50

I haven't been on in a while.

Yes - Hollie seemed to go through a growth spurt for a couple of days and now doesn't want to eat at all barely, the poor thing. I'm pretty sure she's teething at the moment because she keeps sticking everything in her mouth and chewing it. When she feeds on the boob she chomps like nobodies business on the boob and it's pretty sore. She doesn't like having the bottle in her mouth and cries but she'll take the dummy for a few minutes though. Wont sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time except now as she's spent the last 14 hours like this and is just so overtired. Poor little thing it's not nice to see her like it at all! She's so out of sorts and normally such an easy going baby. Wants to be in my arms pretty much 24/7.

But she did have her first proper giggle earlier. Not a half hearted one either, proper loud and deliberate giggle it warmed my heart! :) So at least she was happy enough to give Mummy a smile too :-)

Anyone else got a teething bambino?

Hollie takes both breastmilk and formula. She's on Aptimil and she gets on well with that as it's a lot more closer to breastmilk than most of the others. Plus she didn't do so well with SMA as it gave her nasty constipation poor wee thing.

She also takes Colief as think she struggles breaking down the proteins in milk.

num3onway · 05/07/2013 20:51

Toy not you silly phone

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 05/07/2013 20:52

Oh and she also seems to like sleeping on her side, which has been a recent thing. Not quite rolling over onto her Tummy yet but she's not far off it, give it a few days and I think she'll have it, she's such a determined little thing.

Hope everyone is doing okay today with their LOs :)

num3onway · 05/07/2013 20:53

Dd has been paddying at the bottle the odd time past couple of days I wonder if its the start of teeth, my older two were no trouble at all when teething hopefully she won't suffer!

HaveIGotPoosForYou · 05/07/2013 20:55

Num3 probably at around 5 months, or thereabouts.

But we'll see how she feels about it, at the end of the day. Might ask the HCP though as my sister and I dealt with bm and ff alright but excelled on the solids and this was at about 4 to 5 months my Mum started me on mashed up rusk (half a spoonful).

num3onway · 05/07/2013 21:20

Neither of my older two had rusks, I had it drummed into me that they were the devil, high sugar etc
Sure I probably had them as a baby though, then again I was also left to sleep in a bouncer on top of the washing machine ........
I've just entered the thing to review tesco uniform with £100 vouchers, will be well chuffed if I get it! Two lots of uniform to buy this year!

Ann4New · 05/07/2013 21:59

Gosh I'm so jealous of you guys getting such long stretches overnight! DS still wakes evey few hours needing to be settled. He's discovered his fists and is constantly chomping on them - so much so that he's given himself blood blisters on one wrist?! But he hasn't learnt to suck a thumb or self soothe, so wondering whether it's teething related too...

Really don't know what to do to help him get through the night. We're still swaddling him, so I tried leaving his arms out so he could suck his hand, but he just flings his arms about and can't get to sleep (it's taken us hours to get him down tonight..)

Trishstar · 05/07/2013 22:08

Ann what happens if you tuck his arms in? I find that settles H x

Ann4New · 05/07/2013 22:47

Trish I ended up re-swaddling him in the end. It does seem to help but I doesn't he need his hands free to help settle himself? So although he might go down more quickly, we still have to get up more during the night because he cries until we settle him or pop the dummy in.

Sorry, just having one of those days where I feel a bit worn out!

Trishstar · 05/07/2013 23:08

Spose it depends on the baby Ann as Hunter just seems to smack himself and the sides of the crib so tucking his arms means a better night for him and he's then got all day to settle!

He is just like his dad in that respect, gets a better nights sleep with his whole body under the quilt. Guess we all (babies included) have little quirks!

Ann4New · 06/07/2013 00:34

That's just what Josh did! Moved him to the nursery this week because the basket really was too small for him and I thought we wouldn't have a problem because there'd be no walls within reach! I've just bought a Woombie on eBay so hopefully there might be fewer resettling trips because his feet have come out of the swaddle and got tangled...

photochick · 06/07/2013 02:08

FFS it's the first feed he had done since Tuesday and it's meant to be my night off. should have just done it myself!!

sorry rant over!

While I think of it is anyone offering cooled boiled water in this hot weather. How much should I offer?

Teapig · 06/07/2013 02:29

photo, sorry you're on the 2am shift as well. I haven't been offering cold boiled water, T is ebf so I'm hoping my milk is getting more watery in the hot weather.

num, T is my first so I have no experience to go by but I'm planning on starting baby led weaning around 6 months.

have, I'm sure T is teething as her fist is in her mouth so often. It seems so tough that they have to teeth when they are so small.
