Thought I'd take the liberty of starting a new thread since the last one filled. So mark your places, get comfy and prepare for a few sleepless nights!

In particular we think of Empress and little Sam - hoping and praying he's coming home! :)

hi Catherine I never sleep during the day but no trouble at night although it can sometimes take a while to get off. brain is often too active.

we put the cot in our room last week. it just fits at the end of the bed and we can still walk past. She is still in her moses basket, which we put in the cot to get her used to it. it won't be long though! im not ready for her to go in b the nursery though Wink.

Been to a postnatal class today all about first aid for babies - choking/fits/resuscitation. it was excellent.

Teapig · 01/07/2013 20:54

Welcome catherine. I can never sleep in the day even if I am shattered. Mostly I drop off v easily at night but when I can't I tell myself that resting is almost as good as sleeping so I don't put pressure on myself to sleep and make it harder IYKWIM, I find that helps.

photo, I'm doing a baby first aid class on Wednesday that sounds v similar to yours. It sounds really good, fingers crossed we never put it into practice.

Thanx Jo.
Nathan was much more settled today compared to yesterday. He did wake up for a night feed but went back to sleep. It's over (almost) phew! My supply has increased by quite a bit and Nathan's baby grows suddenly have gotten smaller so I'm packing the 0-3 stuff away tomorrow. I felt a little more human today Smile

Welcome Catherine. I was late in joining this group - wish I had done the whole mumsnet thing antenatally. Would have saved all that anxiety. It's brill to share and chat amongst mums going through similar issues as I was regretfully 'too busy' to go to classes...Smile

Pearpeachplum · 01/07/2013 23:04

Oh and Catherine, yes I do have sleep probs as at times I wake up at around 4-5 (even though little monkey sleeps through) and can't get back to sleep... Dh getting up for work you see... A cup of tea works sometimes.

Ann4New · 02/07/2013 10:56

Hi all,

Has anyone had to move their LO out of their room before they're sleeping through? Josh is about an inch from the end of his Moses basket so we have to shift him to his cot in the nursery, but he still wakes every 3 hours or so through the night (if I'm lucky). Often it's not for a feed and he just needs settling. At the moment he's massively swaddled because his huge startle reflex made him smack the sides of the basket and wake up, but I think that means he hasn't been able to learn how to use his newly discovered hands to suck on and soothe himself. I'm not planning to swaddle him in the cot (gro bag instead) so I'm hoping that might help?

Any advice?? The thought of lugging my backside into the nursery every couple of hours overnight does not fill me with joy....

catherine19 · 02/07/2013 11:46

When we moved ds out he wasn't sleeping through but was going 4ish hrs. We never fed him in ur room though so we didn't disturb each other as much also another draw back to ff (still gutted I couldn't bf). I hav read not to swaddle later because of movement. My ds slept better in his cot don't know if we had been disturbing him or the space. I think it also helped that we didn't go to him straight away, often I'd hear him in the monitor and by the time I got to him he was starting to settle himself!
So hopefully u won't need to lug ure backside as often!

Jo1984uk · 02/07/2013 21:00

Ann would you consider having the cot in your room? My little one has outgrown her Moses basket too and am planning on having the cot next to my bed.

Has anyone else experienced a sudden change in sleep patterns? Sofia fell asleep at 7.30pm last night and she has fallen asleep at 5.50pm tonight!! I have changed her nappy and put her in a babygrow, still fast asleep! Could it be down to a growth spurt do you think?

Sofia has her jab booked for tomorrow (one this week, other next week). Has anyone else's little ones had their second jabs yet? Was the reaction (if any) milder than after the first? Am dreading her getting them done after her reaction last time.

Dysgu · 02/07/2013 21:28

Jo I think Evan was less grizzly after his 2nd jabs than his 1st - they do say the first ones are the hardest for them.

Evan has his 3rd ones tomorrow! I am hoping he will be fine as we are just getting used to him sleeping a bit more at night. He has been having a bottle at around 8pm and then goes through to around 2am. That said, he has been quite sleepy today and had a bottle at around 7pm so not sure what will happen. TBH I quite liked the couple of days when he did bottle at 11pm and went through to nearly 5am; I prefer to stay yp late so don't go to bed until after the 11pm bottle and DP gets up at 5am anyway so that works for both of us Smile

Evan is getting closer to needing to move out of his moses basket; I agree with whoever said it is a bit sad as they are getting bigger. I saw some 'tiny' babies at a picnic yesterday and the smallest was 2lb bigger than Evan was when he was born - but I can't really remember him being so small (and DD1 being even smaller seems odd now she is so big!)

catherine19 · 02/07/2013 21:52

Dysgu, hav u tried a dream feed? I only mention it because someone suggested it to me and it worked a treat!
Ds goes to bed around 8 following feed then I get him out of his cot and feed him around 11.30 wind and nappy change in dim light and not talking (its hard) and put him back into his cot then he generally sleeps until 6!
Good luck with the jabs

Dysgu · 02/07/2013 22:44

Catherine I might try waking him soon when I take him upstairs - he is currently fast asleep in his basket with me in the living room and DP is fast asleep upstairs but DP gave him his bottle at 7pm and I am pretty sure he didn't change his nappy and he only has one booster... so I think it will be easier to wake him soon, change and feed him and take the time to settle him again, rather than him wake up wet in the early hours... and if I wake him soon he might sleep until DP's shift Smile

LikeCandy · 02/07/2013 23:04

Jo BabyCandy is having a super sleepy week. She fell asleep at 7:30 this evening on me in the lounge, I've chabged, fed & brought her to bed and she's back to sleep.
She's doing 12hrs at night (well, 3hrs at a time but only waking to eat) and napping well thru the day too. It's odd!!

Anyone watch Luther tonight?! I am freaked out!!

BonaDea · 02/07/2013 23:09

Haven't read the thread to properly catch up but YES I watched Luther. Just made DH check under the bed! V scary.

LikeCandy · 02/07/2013 23:50

BonaDea baby and DH are asleep and I'm just lying here awake - eek! I'm such a wimp !

MrsMummyP · 03/07/2013 10:46

Anyone else living through the 12 week growth spurt? Baby constantly hungry!

Ann4New · 03/07/2013 11:31

MrsMummy I'm having the opposite problem - he'll only feed for 5-10mins on one boob and screams if I offer him the second, even after a 10min breather. And he's had his jabs this morning and is unhappy...

SneezySnatcher · 03/07/2013 13:52

mrs H isn't feeding constantly but his naps have gone from 1-3 hours to thirty minutes. It's just not enough for him but he wakes up on the dot of 30 mins every time Sad

EssexWelsh · 03/07/2013 16:14

Marking place, not been able to log on for days-just going to catch up...

EssexWelsh · 03/07/2013 16:22

Yes ditto on the growth spurt front, since Monday he's been feeding every 2 hours, awake for an hour, then needs to nap, so 15 mins chilling then 40mins napping, funny how after 3 days of this, I just accept it as his new routine and I can't actually remember how often he was feeding/sleeping last week!

photochick · 03/07/2013 18:46

Sylvia had her jabs this morning. She took her lunch feed, slept, woke snd took her afternoon feed, went back to sleep. still asleep now........not sure what kind of night we are going to have!

Ann4New · 03/07/2013 21:49

photo Josh pretty much refused to nap after his 12wk jabs this morning - so I admitted defeat and snuggled him up with me in our bed where we both slept for 2 hours at lunchtime! He was in his cot in the nursery for the first time last night (felt like we were abandoning him..:( ) and wasn't too happy with the new scenery yesterday, but this evening he went down at half 8 and hasn't stirred yet...poor thing was knackered...but no idea how he'll be overnight! Fingers crossed the sleepiness holds for you!

catherine19 · 03/07/2013 21:58

Ooh ds rolled over for the first time today! It was fab me and dh were watching!
Good luck with the sleeping tonight

enjay0811 · 03/07/2013 23:06

ann and sneezy F is exactly the same! The last week she has gone from sleepin 1 - 2 hrs at a time to 20 - 30 min cat naps. Can set my watch by the 3 hourly feeds during the day but not very hungry today after her 1st set of jabs (even tho she's 10 weeks) poor little lamb has got a big lump on her leg, red blotch on her face and a temperature but still smiling bless her.

Yay catherine can't wait for F to start doing things like that! We're on the verge of giggles at the moment Smile

On a happier note, F slept 9 - 5.30 last night, best yet!

LikeCandy · 04/07/2013 15:06

Yay catherine!
We had two rolls front to back (one straight after the other) a week or so ago and she's never done it again!

Ann4New · 04/07/2013 19:49

Sigh...still battling post-jab grizzles here :( He's such a different boy when he's out of sorts.

On a different note, has anyone DIY'd some bf tops..? I know I could layer a strappy top underneath but was thinking of buying some cheapy tops and cutting vertical slits to wear underneath - reckon that would work...?? I'm not very crafty but I'm getting through several outfits a day as my boobs keep exploding and the breast pads aren't up to the job! Don't want to keep buying nursing clothes...£££££

CheeseAndMushroomToastie · 04/07/2013 20:32

Marking place to catch up with you all. DH working away for a couple of weeks and with a 3 year old and an 11 week old, whilst making arrangement to move house, rent our house out and a billion other things in my list, I'm officially exhausted....
