Please give your baby's favourite foods so we can get some ideas from each other.

Oh pig that sounds horrendous. I hope DH complies and you can get some sleep later.

Was planning to go out today but the weather is awful so looks like a day in for us.

Not a bad night - a couple of wakings before midnight but then slept 11.45-4.30 and with me until 7.15. Feeding much better today so will give him a small lunch of veg sticks.

horseylady · 24/05/2013 10:09

Right drs on Tuesday. He's just eaten some porridge. A different type, quite happily? Babies are odd. I'm just saying!!

daisychain76 · 24/05/2013 10:18

Oh dear pig, stunt and others with bad nights, hope you get to catch up on some sleep today. H was up every hour and l feel a bit off today so we?re skipping baby yoga and staying in, making the most of the peace before half term next week.

DH is being sent out to Argos to get a new stroller ~ it?s a mamas and pappas swirl with all acccessories for 50 pound, plus you get a 5 pound voucher for spending 50 pounds, so seems a pretty good deal and it looks cool

YellowWellies · 24/05/2013 10:39

Horsey the tongue thing.... is he sort of chewing the cud / his tongue? If so that's a classic sign of acid in his mouth. Sigh its so sad that the best advice re reflux is ignore whatever your HV says Sad good luck at the GPs

ValiumQueen · 24/05/2013 11:05

Morning all. Sorry about shitty nights x

J slept 8.45 to 7.30. How the fuck did that happen? Snot and mucus seems less of an issue today. No squirting and sucking required on waking. Still going to Dr as reflux is awful. J is also doing the cud chewing and poking it out like he has dystonia.

Appt at 12.20

Asking for Omeprazole. And something that actually sorts his skin out. Should I ask for AA while I am at it? I actually cried yesterday when I saw your success bp Obviously I am pleased for you, but it reminded me of how badly we have been treated and how little I have been listened to. They are likely to have a very very angry VQ on their hands today if they try to make little of this. Fucking angry.

horseylady · 24/05/2013 11:16

yw yes that's what he's doing?

What do I need to ask for? People in rl keep saying cmpi but I honestly honestly honestly don't think it's that? He's so happy. He doesn't have bad poos. He just voms. A lot. And will cry before he's sick? I don't know if his sphincter is still weak? And weakening more? Or what?

I really need to clean this house up. I just keep reading the Internet!!

YellowWellies · 24/05/2013 11:27

VQ I'd ask for AA to save having to go twice and then you can put him on it if / when you think he needs it. It might be the omeperazole does the trick - it might be you need both. But it's less ball ache to minimise trips to the GP so demand both today. Healthcare shouldn't be such a lottery xxxx

YellowWellies · 24/05/2013 11:29

Horsey I'd be inclined to think mild CMPI but I'd also be inclined to trust your judgement. The 'chewing the cud' is them tasting hot, sour tummy acid Sad

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 11:38

vq that's great news. You must feel so much more human

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 11:45

I've just been shat on. Thanks LO.

ChasingDaisy · 24/05/2013 13:28

Way to kill a thread PR Grin

fruitpastilles · 24/05/2013 13:28

S has been asleep for nearly 2 hours, this is unheard of in the day here, wish she'd have let me know, I'd have had a nap myself.

VQ how did you get on at the docs?

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 13:35

:o

ValiumQueen · 24/05/2013 13:45

J has antibiotics for a chest and skin infection. I said 4 weeks ago he needed antibiotics for his skin. The doctor could tell just by listening to his chest that he has a history of bronchiolitis Sad

Initially the Dr said the skin was just teething. She looked quite horrified when I took his shirt off. Have new cream too and to go back next week if not cleared up.

Omeprazole requested and denied. Need to try on higher dose of ranitadine first. I was feeling a bit wobbly after the diagnosis of chest infection so I did not fight as I planned.

I think I know why I find it so hard to challenge doctors. When I trained as a nurse 25 years ago (fuck I am old) we had to literally stand up when they walked in the room, and we never ever challenged them. Btw I never ever stood up for one and was known for it. I was told not to bother trying for any jobs there Grin

fruitpastilles · 24/05/2013 13:57

Oh

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 24/05/2013 13:58

VQ You did wonderfully for J. Try the ranitadine, hopefully it will work. As a contingency, perhaps make further apt for Tuesday, at which you can demand the omeprazole? You can always cancel the apt if ranitadine works?

DS's chest infection is much better after a few days of the antibiotics, and eye drops have helped the crusty eyes, so he is on his way to being himself. He was a sod all evening last night, so when DH walked in at 2330 I almost threw DS at him, and went to bed. Not sure what time DS went down, but I got midnight-0530, which these days, is amazing. Felt like an actual new person. Added bonus that I could sleep normally, and not doze with a DS in the crook of my arm. I really hope as he gets better, he sleeps longer and gets back into the cot.

fruitpastilles · 24/05/2013 13:59

Oh poor J, well hopefully his chest and skin will clear now, I can't believe the doctor didn't give him the omeprazole (sp?) hopefully the higher dose of ranitidine will sort him out poor little mite. Poor you too VQ it seems like you have to keep fighting just to get his basic needs met, you are supermum.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 14:02

vq a diagnosis and treatment is good. Don't beat yourself up for not fighting. It looks like you were listened to, which has not been the case previously. Hopefully the antibiotics will take effect quickly.

I have just learned that my DDs have a place in the village creche from September. We've been waiting to hear since last August. Not sure what to think about it as I was planning on taking another year out. Will have to see how much it costs.

fruitpastilles · 24/05/2013 14:03

Oops, didn't realise I just posted 'oh' before my post

BigPigLittlePig · 24/05/2013 14:16

FFS just deleted my post Angry

VQ I think I was extraordiinarily lucky with the GP. I went in expecting a bit of a fight and was delighted with the outcome. My argument re: formula (we got AA) was that I have 5 weeks to get her sorted to sleep at night and I don't have the time to dick around trying various things which may not work. He shrugged, agreed and hit print. I think trying the higher dose of ranitidine is a sensible suggestion though (sorry). Perhaps book an appoiintment for Tuesday as someone else said?

YW how interesting about the "chewing the cud" look. F does this all the time and I had wondered whether it was related to teeth. I'd been thinking of bumping up the dose of ranitidine anyway given the unsettled nights, so will definitely do so now.

PR 9 months to find out about a creche? That's bonkers!

Madam great news S is feeling better. And glad J slept too VQ.

DH is too tired to take dsd out, apparently Hmm but has shut him and her away in the kitchen to do some craft stuff. So there are 2 doors not enough between them and me.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 14:28

Yeah the local French creches here in this area are over subscribed. Most people apply the moment they get the blue line. Will be far far cheaper than the Luxembourg creche. Oh my work dilemma is getting bigger and bigger.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 14:33

LO does the chewing the cud look, but I have no reason to believe it would be reflux linked. She's never shown any signs of that. I thought it was teeth. Tooth two is out. She's trying to catch up with vq's J :)

ValiumQueen · 24/05/2013 14:33

Thank you Smile

I agree BP it was a sensible suggestion but the wind he gets with it is just dreadful. Still I will increase and hopefully he will be sorted.

I am so stuck in all this I find it very hard to be objective. Wood for the trees kinda thing.

Just had a new mattress delivered as we have guests this weekend. It is nicer than DD1s so she will be having it me thinks.

PetiteRaleuse · 24/05/2013 14:48

Have done a thread on this, but those of you with toddlers, do they sing in tune? I've been listening to DD1 sing, for want of a better word, Mr Tumble's theme tune ALL DAY. And she's tuneless. Is tunefulness innate or acquired?

StuntNun · 24/05/2013 16:08

PR my DS1 sang in tune from before he could talk, he is now 10 and about to take his grade 3 trumpet exam. DS2 has never been able to sing in tune or remember melodies and still can't sing particularly well at age 6.
