DEFINITELY don't worry about meals then if you've only just started :)

It's weird though isn't it. The same HV was banging the 'wait until 6 months' drum together with the 'food is fun' drum but then looks slightly Hmm that we are just sooking veg and flinging spoons about. I told her I offer finger foods and purée at lunch to see what she fancies. That is it just now. We will move into breakfast next week. Not sure what but we will give it a go.

It is almost like sometimes they forget their own advice

Evil told you are moving??

VQ how's J doing, poor little guy?

pass N is just 6 months and only sucking on bits of veg and things. No meals at all yet. I am possibly being a bit too relaxed about it this time round?!

I know this conversation has been had ad nauseum but can someone remind me what green poo means! First time I've seen it. Should I be worried?

I would be okay with moving to Trier PR, you've nearly talked me into it, although I've never studied German so I'd have to learn fast. DH is waiting for them to either force him to go or bribe him to go with a pay rise. If he said he would move there now it would be at the same pay.

How quickly is the IG supposed to work? He's been on it for 24 hours and he was sick this morning but only a tiny bit when he was having tummy time. He does seem more relaxed during feeds, he's still wriggling but not arching his back or pulling away. Sleep pattern wasn't much different although he didn't feed for as long last night - 20 minutes each time instead of an hour. Does it work that quickly?

stunt it has an accumulative effect but you can see a result straight away. P fed more comfortably straight away because the thickened milk creates a coating on the sore throat.

Its his usual amount I am comparing it to which is why I'm not sure whether or not I need to worry. Solids wise it is hit and miss and depends alot on timing, for example he won't eat when sleepy. Today he refused breakfast because he was tired, had to offer it early because I had to go into town so it wasn't when I'd usually try him. But he ate a cube of sweet potato again then a little yoghurt for lunch. What I've been doing is always offering breakfast but do either lunch or tea depending on whether he is awake. It is still tiny amounts though! Doesn't seem to be enough to compensate for the amount of milk he is missing. I offer water in a sippy cup every solids meal time and he sometimes takes a little between milk feeds too.

He is 19lb 4 and 27 weeks and I'm not sure how the 20 odd is sustaining him! Was going to offer 2 cubes of sweet potato tomorrow but I don't want him to get bored of it lol! Its the only home made veg puree he has taken so far though. Plan was two cubes tomorrow then if he still eats it, add a different veg? I am fairly sure he won't eat say carrot puree on its own and I don't want to put him off by trying it.

sounds like your lo is doing great pr :)

Ugh what else was it I meant to say?!?

Oh yes izzy glad you had a good holiday!

stunt e had similar results as quickly when he had ig

Stunt I've done some work for various evil weed manufacturers - running climate models to investigate how climate change might affect growing regions, pulp supply chain etc. But I was smoking at the time and delighted by being able to smoke in meetings!

Pennie I lived in HK for nearly a year just before I met DH (running climate models for the SAR government to feed into China's national response to the Kyoto protocol) I luff the place. In terms of kids - lots of folks get local help to raise them whilst you get pissed at expat parties so its quite different. I would love it if we were still over there - would def want Jonas learning Cantonese (Mandarin isn't spoken widely). The food is to die for and it just buzzes 24 /7.

Fag companies and dictatorships - I work for the best clients Blush yet its my work with the wind industry that gets folks most worked up - go figure!!!!!! Hmm

Had great fun at Jonas' swimming lesson - he went underwater and didn't cry. Much giggling during the lesson then exhausted hysterics as I was attempting to dry myself so I dragged knickers and jeans onto a wet arse Envy

Hate putting jeans onto a wet body. Bleaurgh.

P has adopted the thousand mile state - I hope that means that the Jumperoo has done its job and produced a jumperpoo

R had fromage frais for lunch but then brought up exorcist amounts of vom this afternoon including what looked like banana which he hasn't had for days due to being bunged up. He absolutely loved it, could it just be too much for his system or should i worry? He's ok in himself, I'm pushing water and bm to get his fluids up but I'm off to work in an hour so vdp and my mum will be in charge Confused

Oh and skipping work isn't an option - boss is off sick so if i don't go the whole youth club has to close

I used to do simultaneous interpretation for focus groups run by a cigarette company. I would be in one room and the group would be next door. I was doing a voiceover live translation for the marketing people - we were all sat behind one way glass. Everyone among both the focus group and the watchers would be smoking. It was my best ever job, I loved it when they called to give me an evening's or day's work. Good pay and unlimited free fags. This was about ten years ago. Would hate sitting in a smoky room now.

Jonas is bunged up after nomming chicken mixed with courgette yesterday, was convinced he was going to christen the pool but he missed the opportunity - will pop him in the jumperoo to see if he can bounce one loose Grin

Just remembered a getting babies to sleep through tip I was given with DD1. It was to give them protein at their evening meal. Eggs or meat. I don't know why it would work, and didn't really need it with DD1 as she was a great sleeper back thennbut my friend swore by it.

Gosh there are some intelligent people in this quiche.

Speaking of intelligent quichettes, stunt the book arrived today, beautifully wrapped Smile Thank you. I will read over the weekend and pop it back to you.

PR yep protein is harder to digest so can knock them out - but if your baby has a sensitive tum it can cause belly ache - we've been told to only give meat at lunch at the mo. And no more egg until allergy paed appt tomorrow. I'm thinking he can handle breakfast and lunch now. Sooooo what to give a CMPI baby for breakfast. Any inspiration? Am hoping the doc OKs wheat as might try BM, weetabix (will check if soy / dairy free) and fruit puree - what else?

Report
PurplePidjin · 16/05/2013 17:32

Anybody know about the dairy thing?

Really don't want to leave my bottle dodger for 4 hours if he might dehydrate, he brought the last lot of water back although it was just the water and not the milk from 15 minutes before

YW porridge?

Do any of the baby cereals perhaps not have it in Yw? What about fruit? Or toast unless it has cmp, sorry I'm not sure

Take your time as we seem to have things under control here temporarily although I'm nervous about moving on to lumpy food.

YW Ella's Kitchen porridge is wheat, dairy and soy free - my J luffs it.

J has been in a much better mood today, it's really quite remarkable how happy he has been. Only problem is, is it the IG or me cutting out eggs? I'm not sure what to tell the GP tomorrow, do I throw myself on her mercy and beg for ranitidine?

OK not great for constipated or tummy sensitive babies. Could be a tip for the others...

Night all. Having an early one due to bad mood and really wanting to read a book.

Talking of which, anyone who spent their childhood reading pony books a great book has come out about ponies and horses in literature.

YW F has weetabix with ebm, and a square of toast to nom.
PP maybe it was a little rich for him, if he had never had it before? Sounds like you're doing all the right things though.

Lovely day out with gran today - although we're all tired now. We must have walked for miles around the gardens, with F in her sling as I forgot the raincover for the pram and it temporarily clouded over. Only to become hot hot hot, which was very noticeable with a 15lbs baby strapped to my front. Still, it was lovely.

For those who are still ebf-ing and have begun weaning - do you offer water at any meals? F is getting a little bunged up, but I'm not quite sure what the best thing to do is. Not that she's overly keen on water. Or anything out of a bottle. I did manage to get her to have 1oz of pear juice/water after tea (pear & blueberry puree which yes, does stain).

In other news -

  1. pussypig caught a bird and is therefore in the doghouse, which is a good job as...
  2. I had a heart attack to find another cat in the house munching away on our cats food
  3. I managed to hit Fs head on a ceiling light

Stunt if it is the gaviscon working, then by omitting a few doses it should become apparent, as his symptoms will worsen (just hopefully not to as bad a degree as previously). I would ask for ranitidine anyway, as it is easier to give and less troublesome on their bowels.

Thanks for breakfast tips!

Wah my brain is mush - lovely farmhouse table arrived (EBay bargain) thanks to great couriers. But I totally forgot they were coming, had to pay by cheque as had forgotten to get cash out Blush Blush Blush Blush This comes on the back of having a shower and missing prearranged HV appointment - she ended up posting a card through the letter box. Oh dear god how am I going to write the freelance stuff I'm being asked to do.... Shock

Thanks BigPig, throw myself on the GP's mercy it is! I offer water in a a sippy cup with most meals. J slurps away at it but I don't know if he swallows any, it all seems to dribble down his chin. Amazingly J finished his bedtime feed in less than 40 minutes instead of his usual time of at least an hour. His feeds have really sped up today.
