Jiggle - you need to have it out with you DH & decide what it's going to be.

Darcie competed in 3 individual races today and won gold in each one Grin proud mummy today Grin

SevenReasonsToSmile · 06/07/2013 17:43

Well done to darcie queen, and also to cheung for passing the theory test.

It's been a lovely day here. The gaviscon may finally be starting to work (will probably regret saying that!) as we've had relatively good feeds with minimal screaming today. We went to the fete at the local primary school, then the park, then had ice lollies and played in the garden. I even had time to tidy the shed while both girls napped at the same time!

janey223 · 07/07/2013 10:13

Great news seven

Well done darcie!! Grin

Monkey currently lying on the floor wrapped in my wooly bedspread, it's freezing don't ya know? We were going to go to the hill/mount to watch tennis but I think the queuing to get in would be too much for him in this head so we're heading south to clapham to watch it on the big screen in the common!

NorthernChinchilla · 07/07/2013 14:12

Good call janey; we're going to head off to the local country park this afternoon for DS, let him run around and let off steam...

Glad to hear that things are (digits twisted) improving seven, and hope it's the start of the upward curve! Sounds like a lovely day so far, even the shed Smile

Yesterday was one of those days when we shouldn't have bothered getting up. We went to look at a new build that we were really excited about- four bedrooms, lots of bathrooms, quirky, part exchange offered, right bit of town... and somehow they'd managed to make the downstairs a) small and b) entirely open plan. Combining that with the tiny garden meant it was a no-go.
Then we took DS to the park, and DP smacked his face on a metal bar on the climbing frame helping DS up- blood everywhere, and it knocked his bridge out and half the tooth next to it. So a trip to the emergency dentist and a gap-tooth'd DP who looks like he's been having a barney with Jason Statham....

Please Bob let today be better!

SevenReasonsToSmile · 07/07/2013 14:19

Cancel the improvement. 2 feeds so far today where she's been screaming again, and haven't been able to put her down for longer that 10 minutes between.

northern hope today is going better for you :)

Aethelfleda · 07/07/2013 17:19

Sorry to hear that seven really do think it's worth going back to the GP again.

About to head to DD1's first ever "proper" choir concert (I'm singing too and really looking forward to it!) total proud mummy moment ahoy :o)

SevenReasonsToSmile · 07/07/2013 18:26

aethel he wanted us to keep trying Gaviscon over the weekend so I'll phone tomorrow to discuss it. Yesterday I'd have said it was working, today definitely not, though the heat probably isn't helping tbh, I've been holding her all day in just a vest while she sleeps, but wakes every time I put her down Confused. Good luck to your DD1 (and you!)

Where is everyone btw? Hope you've all been having lovely weekends enjoying the sunshine, and cheering on Murray of course! :o

OctopusWrangler · 07/07/2013 23:41

Is it friday yet?

Lots on this weekend (parties, garden festival, coffee), lots on at school this week too. Two sports days, two discos a school play and an extra-curricular music exam. Bring on the rocket fuel!

janey223 · 08/07/2013 10:02

Big screen was actually a tv so I couldn't properly see it, I knew what was happening and the atmosphere was good though. I am a bit gutted I couldn't watch it properly but heyho!

Monkey ran around in a happy all day and at one point done a streak (for Andy of course!) A few people commented that I should have left him at home but everyone else just swooned over him!

OiMissus · 08/07/2013 10:05

Well done to Darcie and Cheung.
Sorry about your DH northern.
Enjoy the sing fest Aethel!
Loved parts of the weekend. Especially the Murray match! BOi was knocked out for 3hrs yesterday due to the heat. Poor little mite. The rest of the time he was naked and in and out of a paddling pool. Grin Or finding a spot on the floor to wee on!
Shock
Me n DH did all right until yesterday. And then we went back to stony silence when I found that the paperbin was full. I complained. He went silent. Not such a huge issue. A simple chat would have sufficed, but no, silence seemed to be the preferred response. Idiot.
So, of course, I am left to fill the silence with thoughts like: "this wouldn't happen if you fucked off!"
Oh hum!

AnAirOfHope · 08/07/2013 10:08

Janey glad you and monkey had a good time :)

Congrats to Darcie.

Seven I hope Bea gets better soon/the right meds, its hard when you know they are in pain/unconfortable and nothing seems to help.

Sends vitual rocket fuel to Octo

Hope everyone had a good weekend xx

AnAirOfHope · 08/07/2013 10:21

Io im sorry but I laughted at the "it wouldnt happen if you just fucked off" im always thinking this with dh when im in a mood and he annoys me most of the time glad its not just me!

I look to the future and think it would be easier if I was on my own but then I would miss the shareing nice kid related moments and the occitional leyin and its nice dh takes air to school on mondays. Its not nice with dh lieing to me, not helping enough in house work and his negative comments and attadute. I have told dh this and he gets defensive. I have given him a list of things to do and he is doing them.

I have relised I have a thrid child I have to tell what to do and is a little bit helpful. Im not sure this is a longterm workable relationship :(

I even cringed when his mum cut Airs sandwich for him then dh's Shock

I married a manchild :(

AnAirOfHope · 08/07/2013 10:24

I was 22 yo when I stared dating dh and now at 31yo I have grown up but im not sure he has :(

mopsytop · 08/07/2013 11:01

Hi all. Sorry to hear about hassle and/or stress from poorly babas or irritating husbands.

We got minim a paddling pool... just a cheapo one for a fiver from b&q. She LOVES it! Perfect for the roasting weather this weekend. Also got her a toy buggy. She was beyond thrilled. Unfortunately it has already led to several tantrums as she never wants to stop using it.

Lovely again today. Later after her nap I'll get out the paddling pool again methinks! Poor minim has also been v v grumpy on and off. Those pesky eye teeth. Getting all 4 at once. So no wonder she is a bit cross poor little pet.

I'm exhausted! She was up half the night on Saturday, maybe that is why. Might have a wee nap when she does.

No news to relate!

mopsytop · 08/07/2013 15:46

Ugh minim fell over and her tooth cut her lip. So much blood! Only a little cut in reality and she is absolutely fine now but boy did I get a fright!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/07/2013 19:49

It's awful isn't it mopsy, they seem to leak and spurt blood most ferociously! Hope Mini M - and you! - are OK Smile How's it all going on the work front by the way?

That sounds like one ridiculously busy week Octo- this time of year with more than one child is hectic though, with all the end of year stuff and celebrations/sport. Hope the tentacled one is letting you sleep a bit better.

How did the choir go aethel, and did you perform OK? I didn't know that singing was another of your talents I'm banned under the Geneva Convention

Sunday was better, we even managed a trip to the park without loosing any teeth Confused! Busy week ahead, will be arranging another viewing for the weekend, fingers crossed...and would like some more viewings on ours. We've had six, which isn't too bad, but aaaaaaaargh, want someone to come along and buy it- I hate it when stuff like this is out of your control.

mopsytop · 08/07/2013 20:01

Northern, beginning to plan topics for three different courses of lectures (eeekk!)... don't start til September but course outlines/reading lists get sent around now. So nervous at thought of having to prepare and teach three whole courses in addition to French language teaching. Hopefully I'll find my feet quickly. Never lectured before, only taught Oxbridge tutorials which is very different. Also nervous about one hour motorway commute as not used to driving at all, but practising once every week on Sundays. I know is different to weekdays as way quieter but just learning route/getting used to the drive will hopefully helpy confidence. my husband is coming with me (just did it for first time yesterday... I was totally fine but his presence is very reassuring for the moment). It is actually a good thing as it will get me used to driving which I really need.

Our kitchen is in (and it is gorgeous! loving it) but need to get splashback tiling done and finish bits of painting. Then need to get hall/stairs/landing skimmed in parts and paint them. Then declutter, massive clean and we can go on market. Will probably end up coinciding with start of new job, Gah! Extra stress!

Aethelfleda · 08/07/2013 20:33

The singing was faaaab thank you :) DD1 sang her little solo in front of everyone very nicely (and more importantly seemed to enjoy it). I was an extremely proud mummy, although she tried to ban me from having a small glass of vino I was offered in the interval!!!
Then we sang the Vivaldi Gloria, and the juniors did the 3rd section by themselves. It was great. (northern, I've been doing part-singing since schooldays and I luffs it, but it's always been limited by time constraints, so it's lovely to get to do it now.)

And now it's back to normal, like octo we have a round of school trips and end of term thingys. Roll on the summer holidays!

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 08/07/2013 21:38

My (half) siblings, one of whom's primary and one secondary are so busy with events we won't get to see them, Dad and Stepmum before they go off to Germany to see family for the summer Sad so I appreciate the busy! Delighted to hear the singing went so well aethel, and so glad you both enjoyed it- such a lovely hobby to have.

Aren't you very musical too mopsy, or am I thinking of someone else? But sounds like you're motoring on (excuse the pun) with all the work and driving. It'll just be a case of it all becoming 'the new normal' and I bet after four weeks or so you'll forget you ever had a previous life! Good luck with the house stuff, it's great fun... Hmm

mopsytop · 08/07/2013 22:06

Yes Northern. Classical violin.

Aethelfleda · 08/07/2013 22:46

Oh yes, mopsy, meant to say that DS is buggy obsessed here too, only marginally less so than his Thomas obsession. If anyone remembers the stink kicked up by feminist groups about ELC a few years back, about how they had awful pink girly aisles full of "girly toys for girls" and segregated the "boys toys for Little MEN" sections? I think they still do that , well DD2 was in want of a dolly buggy and the Early Learning Centre was the ONLY place I could find a non-pink dolly buggy. so entirely by accident DS now has inherited a blue tartan dolly buggy. He loads it up with Teddy and Po and races around the house enthusiastically, stopping only to lob in a random Thomas Train if he finds one on the floor :)

Shall I put in another order for fresh ? Sadly it sounds like several DPs may be requiring them..... And we need something soothing for all those erupting teeth!
Oh, and fresh Flowers and new-baking bread to help Northern and Cheung's viewings!

OP posts:
Figgygal · 09/07/2013 08:34

Aethel DS loves a buggy too in fact anything he can push in front of himself I.e sweeping brush, mini Hoover, dog on a stick with clacky wheels.

He's really into his my first jcb trucks and Our neighbour just gave him an elc garage their lo outgrown he loving that now and hoping that his ball pit obsession may finally be at an end which would be great as our lounge has been covered in balls since Xmas and am sick of the site of it Grin

He's loving this heat running round in just a nappy and he's finally started wearing his hats wooo

OiMissus · 09/07/2013 08:39

Air - "I married a manchild" tee hee!
Well done to the songstrels!
mopsy - did I miss the news about the teaching job? But congratulations and good luck, and enjoy!
We finally have our Relate appointments set up. Every Wednesday night. Hopefully it will help me/us. I try, we try to just enjoy each other's company, but then he'll do something/say something that will be negative, and that's it. Immediately, I am annoyed and think there's no future in this.
We had a bit of a chat last night, and he thinks I'm not giving him a chance. I didn't apologise. I know it's partly true. But the truth is that he really annoys me.
My mum says that you fall in and out of love. Don't give up, because it will come back. I can't see it. What dio you think? Once someone becomes annoying, can it be saved?
(The idea for a summer holiday, 2 weeks together, will probably make or break us. And it will be almost as expensive as Relate! But that will be September, and I expect we'll have found our answer with Relate by then... Maybe I'll hold off booking something and then try and pick something up last minute... see, I'm already thinking it's just me and the BOi!)

mopsytop · 09/07/2013 08:47

Yes Oi. Lectureship. Fixed term. 2 years. But still a great start.

Faffin · 09/07/2013 09:19

DS loves pushing DD's pink buggy round too Grin. In the garden at the moment. He's playing in the sand tray and is finding it highly amusing to tip sand all over his own head Confused. It's stuck to his cream, is all in his hair, all over his clothes, and no doubt will have worked its way into every orifice. I may have to hose him down!
