ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH my eyes are bleeding. Seriously, wtf is wrong with some people?!

Just checked facebook, to be greeted by a picture of 2 people having a 69'er in some alleway behind a car. It's fucking gross!

It isn't the first time I've had such minging pictures shared by so called friends. In fact, one time one guy put a picture of his actual dick on there. A guy I once had a one night stand with but that's a whole other tale! What is wrong with people?!!!

I feel the delete button calling my name!

PetiteRaleuse · 15/05/2013 14:34

chasing yes, I think they are startingnto understand some words now. How much can they understand? But I think yes, they are certainly inderstanding several words now at least. LO turns or looks up when I say her name, she certainly understands no, milk and sleep. And dog. She also gets excited when I say daddy's coming home, but that is probably because she has always seen DD1 get excited and the hears the dog whining joyfully when I say that. In time she'll make the connection between me saying daddy is coming home and´him walking through the door half an hour later. I can only assume that she is starting to absorb the rest of what we are saying too.

I'm sure if I smiled and nodded and said just eat your fucking food, she would smile back, and, if I were that way inclined could continue to do so for years, until she understood it in its correct context (I'm not going to try that experiement). They're a blank page as far as language is concerned - we could in theory teach them that cat means dog and fuck means DVD. But we don't as that would hinder them in society :o

I find myself moving away from baby talk already and on to talking to her normally now, and she is definitely listening. And DD1 sometimes randomly comes out with a word that she probably hasn't heard recently.

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 14:34

I think I'd need 2 maternity pads. Nothing is long enough.

This is going to sound gross. There is no polite way to put it.

It spurts up the front. Yeah. Like I said. Gross. I need 2 pads sewn together really!!

The last time I had this level of bleeding, I had the sodding coil in. And I bled down my legs in a restaurant. Not a trickle. An explosion.

For the northern birds - it was TGI's in the Trafford Centre. Not my finest hour as I tried getting up those fecking stairs with a river of blood everywhere. Hmm

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 14:35

Yes PR, I find myself not talking to O in babytalk any more. He definitely understands his name.

I think that is it though!

PetiteRaleuse · 15/05/2013 14:35

Hmm. Detective I used maternity pads in an emergency once and found that they were different to sanitary pads and just didn't work properly on periods like they do on lochia.

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 14:37

Yeah, I guess lochia is a bit more watery, not viscous like period, er, blood.

StuntNun · 15/05/2013 14:37

You're on to something Detective, I was two days early! Smile

Thanks for the offer Horsey, I managed to get some at the chemists so I'll give it a try and see how we go for now. Yeah Detective I was pretty unimpressed that the chemist sold it to me actually but if challenged I would have been able to tell her that the HV advised me to try it and that I was seeing the GP for a follow up on Friday so I'm sure I would have got it anyway.

Chasing I was wondering about that, maybe they feel safe with strangers because they won't be passed over to them for a cuddle, whereas if parents or in laws are around then the baby gets anxious because they know it's 'pass the baby' time and they'd rather be with one of their primary carers.

I bought one of those mesh things for feeding as I have some squashy kiwi fruits for J to try. Has anyone used one of them yet? What else can you put in it? I was thinking it would be good for strawberries.

Fluoxetine is prescribed for premenstrual dysphoric disorder which is super-PMT Chasing. That's in the States though, I don't know what you would get in the UK or Luxembourg though.

Gosh I bet poor luis wishes we'd warned him to skim read this bit!

ChasingDaisy · 15/05/2013 14:43

Stunt Fluoxetine is what I'm on and has had a bonus side effect of taming my PMT.

I think you're right about the strangers/family thing. The people in the waiting room weren't 'in his face'. They were looking at him and smiling etc but O wasn't under any pressure and he got to interact on his own terms. Both my family and the in-laws can be very loud and approach him quickly, get very close to him and then take him off me. I guess it is a bit like cats preferring non-cat lovers.

Elizadoesdolittle · 15/05/2013 14:45

Stunt - E has silent reflux and is fine lying down. She only has it mildly though and is now under control with ranitidine so I can't really remember too much what her symptoms were like. IG never worked for us and I gave mine all away to another quiche member. Which reminds me I haven't seen her for aaaaaaaaaages. thetiger are you still out there?

vq I have been complaining about E not napping during the day and lo and behold this morning I saw a tooth. Just broken through so got a bit of growing to do yet.

We've got someone coming back for a second viewing on our house on Saturday. Am really hoping they make us an offer. Would be such a weight off my mind (as long as they then actually bought the fucking place!).

Right, off to mop floors!

PetiteRaleuse · 15/05/2013 14:48

LO has become more wary of strangers. It will be interesting to see how she is at the paed's tomorrow. She is not a stranger, unfortunately far from it, and LO has always been smiley and giggly with her. She hasn't seen her though in over a month Shock so maybe will have changed. I think it is normal round about this age to become clingier to mum and dad and other very familiar faces.

ChasingDaisy · 15/05/2013 14:51
TheDetective · 15/05/2013 15:07

O slept for over 3 hours this morning. I had to wake him. It's now nearly nap time again. He isn't allowed to sleep past 5, so I wonder what this nap will go like?!

Fuck, why can't you do this at night O?!!!

Pikz · 15/05/2013 15:21

Stunt I got given a mesh and its great for strawberry, banana, kiwi, in fact and soft or slippery fruits. It makes a mess though.

ChasingDaisy · 15/05/2013 15:23

O is laughing in his sleep. Cuteness.

StuntNun · 15/05/2013 16:10

Of course, banana Pikz, good idea. Can you put them all in at once for a fruit smoothie?

Bear in mind it will get worse Chasing, at about eight months they realise that you can go away and you might not come back. At that point you can't put them down or give them to anybody else and you'll have to take O everywhere with you. I'm going to move the Bumbo into the bathroom then.

I wonder what they dream about?

Every week I go to baby group and one of the mums, who has not long ago switched her baby to ff, makes a feed up - with lovely sterile cold water and powder from a dispenser. I always think of det and her formula mission, but not sure if I should mention anything to her, or just keep my nose out.

Have made pear and blueberry puree this afternoon. It's ever so purple bet it stains like a bitch

ValiumQueen · 15/05/2013 16:23

Maternity pads do not work for periods due to viscosity. I learned this the hard way.

I have not been able to tolerate a tampon since before I had DD1. This saddens me as I do not like pads.

gross alert *

Detective, you could try growing your pubes really long, then they would kinda work like a sponge and add absorbency, and stop the whooshing up the front?

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 16:23

We've had that since 10 weeks Stunt. I'd have to laugh, or I'd crack up!

It's only this last week that reliably I've been able to leave him on the floor or in whatever toy/chair he is in at that time.

It's lovely. I suspect it won't last long Grin.

O enjoys coming around the house with me sat bolt upright in his pram. He just watched me hoover for half an hour, mesmorised.

BP I might be tempted to ask if they are using staydown formula, as that is the only one made from cold water. If she said no, I might mention the guidelines, but only in a friendly kind of way. Of how she could make it even easier for herself... Grin. I don't tend to butt in IRL, unless I can get the subject round to it naturally!

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 16:24

My pubes are long.

:(

BigPigLittlePig · 15/05/2013 16:24

Just snorted so loud I woke a napping baby Grin

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 16:24

It doesn't work!

BigPigLittlePig · 15/05/2013 16:26

We were talking about reflux, because he's been unsettled since switching to ff, and she wondered if he had lactose issues - he's on normal at the moment. It's awkward, I'd hate to have someone point out I was doing something wrong, even though it's with good intentions.

TheDetective · 15/05/2013 16:27

I guess most mums would want to know, even if you feel like a twat!

Mind you, on a lot of the ff threads, those who do it that way don't really care. Or so I've noticed.

Hard to know, innit?! :/
