Grin at front and back legs!

We had an interesting night last night. DS was fussy all evening, alternating between sleeping and screaming pretty much from 4-7 (must have been v tired but kept waking up, maybe teething pain) than finally managed to break the cycle and get him bathed and fed and ready for bed so didn't go down until later than normal (8.30ish I think...) then slept all the way to 4.30 for a quick feed then up for the day at 6.30. Shock
He had a bit of avocado from our dinner so maybe that helped him sleep through...? Hmm

Question about giving water: I'm guessing you just give tap water? But ours is vv hard, is that ok? And when we move house the water smells a bit sulphurous. But I've heard that bottled water is bad because it has too much sodium.

Secondsop · 31/05/2013 18:13

I'm giving cooled boiled tap water but if we are out and dont have any I just use mineral water. I'm wondering whether I can use filtered water from the fridge dispenser.

I think I need to up the water as Z just did a tiny dark brown poo.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/05/2013 18:18

Seconds children under three shouldn't have mineral water apparently, and I've always been told it needs to be boiled until they're a year old

Secondsop · 31/05/2013 18:20

Under three! Gosh. I'll take a bottle of boiled water out with me from now on - thank you!

SkiBunnnnny · 31/05/2013 18:31

Oh, I thought boiled cooled was only until 6 months. I'm just concerned because doesn't boiling increase the mineral concentration?

SpottyTeacakes · 31/05/2013 18:36

I have no idea Confused I just read it when we went on holiday last year as dd was just two. Maybe a grown up will come along in a minute with the answer Grin

SkiBunnnnny · 31/05/2013 18:57

I think it is because of the sodium content spotty.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/05/2013 18:59

Ah yes ski you're right and you're right about it being six months for boiling too Smile

SkiBunnnnny · 31/05/2013 19:17

So (probably filtered) tap water is fine?

IsThatTrue · 31/05/2013 19:26

The POO has landed !!! It was epic, and stank! Urgh, 3 day old poos aren't great tbh! Lol

I don't boil ds's water but tbh he doesn't drink it, I usually boob him before and after solids so I'm sure he's getting enough liquid.

DS won't let me feed him to sleep anymore :( he starts screeching and pulls off and I have to put him down. I know I shouldn't be so sad about him wanting to settle himself but I am. I have this awful feeling that he's going to want to give up bfing before I'm ready. :(

We've been at the races today. Kids had a great time. DHs work do a marquee with food and drink so we went along. They all loved ds2, and the big dcs got to go on the fairground rides. I'm knackered now though.

Good to see you both mamapo and clarella

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/05/2013 19:55

It's the boiling that increases the sodium content but its fine as long as you use fresh water in the kettle each time. It's repeated boiling (which concentrates the minerals) that is dangerous. If you FF they've been on boiled water since birth. I think normal non-filtered tap water is fine after 6 months, but I'll probably still boil for a while PFB

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/05/2013 19:58

DS treated me to two massive poos two hours apart this afternoon Isthat. We're so lucky! Grin

Sad on the breast feeding to sleep but Smile for the self settling.

J fell asleep 2 oz into his last bottle, I hope to god he wakes for it or it's not going to be a pleasant night. He's going to MiL's to sleep tomorrow Sad but I have got a lovely pimms fuelled garden party to go to

SpottyTeacakes · 31/05/2013 21:30

Ds just woke himself up rolling over onto to cot bars so I rolled him back and he did it again Hmm hope he's not going to make a habit of this!

IsThatTrue · 31/05/2013 21:51

2 poos willyou my my he is spoiling you! Lol

Well DS was a bit up and down, he keeps randomly waking, really upset. I think it's his teeth, and I think that has a lot to do with his screaming after a feed too and not feeding well the last couple of days.

spotty thankfully DS has only ever rolled over once fully awake and playing in his cot. Not sure what I'd do if he kept doing it at night (if it caused sleep disruption). Sorry I'm no use at all Blush

WillYouDoTheFandango · 31/05/2013 22:15

DS does that Spotty, I ended up sticking him in bed with me last time

He's still not woken for a bottle! I don't wanna be up all night sob!

WLmum · 31/05/2013 22:18

spotty we get quite a lot of that here. I don't think it's actually in her sleep though as when she's coming to anyway. She's been a bit Velcro today again so think she's not feeling that great. Thank god for the sling. We had a lovely day out in the sun with friends.

Welcome back mama. Hope C settles down asap. DH can drive me nuts but I don't like sleeping apart from him. Interesting about the weaning, I've been holding off as current advice here is to wait til 6 months if there's a history of allergies!

isthat yep fab about self settling but I know what you mean about stopping bfing. I'm excited about weaning but sad that its the end of my milk buba.

ISpyPlumPie · 01/06/2013 00:14

Welcome back Mama.

Isthat - sounds like you had a great day. DH has been at the races on a 'networking' drinking thing with work today too. Just waiting for him to get in, (or ring to say they've missed the train so will be in Surry till fuck knows when).

Sounds really bad, but everything runs a bit more smoothly and the house feels more ordered when he's not here. Miss him really - even though he's a messy sod who has a knack of arriving home just as I'm trying to get the boys settled for bed, I have to admit it is abit dull without him Grin.

SpottyTeacakes · 01/06/2013 03:40

Every two hours....

IsThatTrue · 01/06/2013 05:57

Close your eyes spotty

Well after our ups and downs again last night he went down at 8.15, and slept through until5.45!! I was awake at 3.30 expressing some milk off as I gelt like I would burst. Got about 5oz, which is the most ever and only took 20 mins (hand expressing).

utopian99 · 01/06/2013 05:58

Wow on the self settling, isthat, although hugs if bf is coming to an end. It's odd, I always planned to for the health benefits, convenience etc, but didn't realise I might like the bonding aspect of it. We are well under way on tasting food (if not eating it yet,) which is exciting for O, but the idea he won't want me for food soon is definitely a bit ConfusedSad

Sorry about ducts spotty, has it improved yet?

SpottyTeacakes · 01/06/2013 06:05

Duct cleared utopian Smile I don't know why I always get it! Still painful where I have the milk spot on my nipple Hmm

I'm excited because it's our village fete today (that makes me sound old doesn't it?) BBQ, Pimms tent, pony rides, drinks tombola and bouncy castle Grin

ignores IsThat

SpottyTeacakes · 01/06/2013 06:17

Oh and new flowers for our garden Grin

MaMaPo · 01/06/2013 07:23

Hello all -

Spotty, that sounds idyllic. Are you sure you don't live in an Enid Blyton book?

Isthat just echoing the others on self settling yay but bf boo. Baby C is less interested in bfing but I think it's just efficiency - she's done and dusted in under 10 mins and wants to see what else is going on in the world.

Grin at front legs and back legs.

Pretty awful night here, but thank goodness it was Friday night so my husband could help out. I was completely shattered with jetlag by 5pm yesterday and hadn't shared any of C's naps, so I ended up going to bed with her at 6.30pm, no dinner or anything! Up again for feeds at 9.30pm and 11.30pm (she is a greedy girl at the moment, I wonder if I've also caught the start of a growth spurt?) and then she didn't really settle properly until 3.45am. We got up about 6.30am. Lucky my husband gave me about an hour at 2am but he's exhausted.

WLmum · 01/06/2013 07:31

ispy I feel that too - is mostly easier when he's not here - dcs def play up more for him!
spotty I love a a village fete, but then I am old!

We had another night of Sad baby T attached to my boob from 1 til 5. I bought her down at 6, she was covered in dried and fresh thick green snot and obviously feeling rotten poor little soul. She seems much more chipper now after I force fed her a dose of nurofen. My throat is still sore, really hope hers isn't. If its not better by mon I guess I better see the dr as it will have been over a week.

Today marks the start of strict new tv time rules. If they can't be followed I'm going to remove TVs from the house!

SpottyTeacakes · 01/06/2013 07:32

You might think it if you saw it mama Smile I might take a photo later. I still wish we'd managed to live in a city for a bit though.

Sorry you had rubbish sleep you have my sympathies.

Ds has just had strawberry. I had to help him though because they were too small/slippery for him to hold and he kept sucking the whole thing into his mouth Shock
