Here we go then... I've also updated my album of photos on the \link{http://health.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/mumsnetpix/photos\Yahoo site}, it'd be great to see recent pics of all our angels on there!

Hi Girls
Thanks for the messages. Am feelin a wee bit better today. Andy got brought home from his exercise early, they started making arrangements to get him home as soon as my neighbour called the ambulance on Friday evening so he was home by 5am Saturday morning and able to look after Lola all day Saturday while I stayed in bed. I still feel like I've been kicked repeatedly in the stomach and haven't been able to eat since Thursday (thank god for slim-fast shakes). In 24 hours while I was at my sickest I lost 6lb! I'm now down to 18st 6lb (was 22st 12lb when I came home from hospital with Lola) so am much happier about going under General Anaesthetic for the op now. I just hope the doc brings it forward when I see him on Tuesday. Fingers crossed!

Chuffed · 11/06/2006 23:22

Wow the ups and downs.

Lisa I hope they bring forward the surgery, congrats on the weightloss (although not done pleasantly). Well done SK on yours too.
Barrelrider, see if you can get some local anaesthetic from the gp to help with pain. dp and I are finally there but OMG did it hurt stretching out the scar tissue etc (soory if TMI)
ds a laughy gem but still can't get those nights sorted but he is such a happy boy during the day. 5.5mths old now and 15lb all those solids don't seem to have piled the weight on too badly.
He is rolling over and over too and is starting to make crawling motions and gets really frustrated when he doesn't go anywhere.

wherethewildthingsare · 12/06/2006 09:27

Hi all (it's me, Rach :) )

Where the wild things are is not only an accurate description of my house but was ds1's favourite book and I called ds2 after the little boy! It's still a favourite and the kids also love a 70s stylee video we have of some Maurice Sendak stories sung by Carole King!

Lisa - poor you, sending you loads of good wishes.

Georgie - what a pain exes are! I have never got mine to mediation, we have our own screaming at each other method but I would love a third party to witness just how unreasonable and deluded he is. Your birthday party sounds fab! I hate fashion at the moment, it is totally what I was wearing at the age of 15 in 1985 - when will plain black lycra come back in fashion? I hear opaque tights are on their way Grin My er (whispers...) 37th is coming up in July.

Very [envy} at anyone whose babe is sleeping through. I'm with Chuffed and Iris with the disturbances, think it is all the heat, last night was much better. We are having a lot of 'tired and emotional' evenings (and that's just me!). I'm putting F down in just a t-shirt and nappy and yes he is always grabbing his 'teapot' (that's boys for you). We have a 24 week check due with the paediatricians on our probiotic study - they will check him all over and I will have an opportunity to have him skin prick and RAST (blood) tested for allergies if I agree. I think I will hold out solids till then just in case (although - social services alert- he did suck a chip in the pub yesterday!!!) I am interested to know if he has inherited my nut allergy although I suppose it might not show up yet. He is rolling around and can crawl backwards at a great pace! (humps from feet to head) I don't want to sound all competitive mum about it though, it really doesn't mean anything as long as they do reach their milestones, my dd took longer to walk than her brothers but is now a fabulous gymnast and could ride a bike before she was 4. Similarly dp didn't crawl at all nor walk till 18 months! And he's been a football coach, tennis coach, Disney lifeguard and regional schools long jump champ! Just like his dad, Finney-Bob is long and slim, no spare fat, just solid determination!

Iris - re the fluffles, I have a huge variety now Blush but fluffles are still one of my faves. You could easily sell them on MN or ebay for £5+ secondhand. I do find them a little hot now but they are my night nappy of choice (after the humungous minki huggle). Have you tried the tots bamboozle? They are slim, absorbant and very 'green'. One up from original tots. The only snag is that they take a while to dry - I use the fluffles (and others) inbetween. If you do get one, I recommend aplix not nippa (they don't seem tto grip/fit well as they are so soft and slim), also I made my own fleece liners to cover the whole inside of the nappy.

sweetkitty · 12/06/2006 15:39

Well we've had some rain after all that sunshine this morning but it's gone back to sunshine now Smile had morning from hell - I still have a bot of a headache from yesterday (migraine) and one of the cats had to go to the vets today as he probably has bladder stones and will need another op, anyway gets both girls up and ready adn off we go (quite a way away and I'm new to this area too) so we gets there have to phone them to collect him from the car as I can't manage him and the 2 babies. On the way back someone nearly hits me at a roundabout (probably in part my fault but they weren't indicating Blush) so I was all shook up about that, then another kid shut Abbie's finger in the door (ouch but she's ok).

Anyway enough moaning would second a door bouncer for babies, I think you can use them from 4 months up or when they can hold their heads up themselves. Abbie used to just hang in hers at first but Talia is all over the place in hers, utterly loves in although theres a big pile of drool on the floor! She's also rolling and trying to crawl, well crawl into the carpet face first whilst frantically kicking her legs. I am not worried at all about the rolling, crawling etc as they all do it in their own time. Abbie was a late roller/crawler/cruiser then she seemed to do it all at once and was walking 2 weeks after her first birthday, I thought she would have been a lot later.

Iris - hope Dom settles down a bit soon, you must be shattered I know I am and T's up twice in the night. Definately sounds like a comfort thing though.

Amber and Mumfun - welcome to our little sleep deprived group.

Lilstarry - sounds like the job was a nightmare well done for quitting and not putting up with it. Plenty more time for work in the future, just enjoy your time with your little lady. I have tried silk liners with camomile tea for Abbie's bum in the past (used every type of reusables and disposable) not to mention every kind of cream in the chemists. The thing that works is changing her nappy the minute she poos so not to let the poo and pee have any time near her skin. It just burns her skin off, it's so horrible when she has big red bleeding weals on her bum and you have to touch them to clean them and she's screaming, you feel terrible but now when she poos she will tell you so it's not so bad anymore.

Lisa - hope you are feeling better now and have some news about your op. Glad your DH is home to help too.

Georgie - I'm going to gate crash your party sounds like a blast Wink! Have no idea how I have lost the weight sorry, I haven't been trying to diet or anything and am eating well (far too much chocolate) think it must be the breastfeeding as T is a hungry girl. Am a bit annoyed though as I will need to buy some new clothes at this rate.

Love the stories of the boys finding their favourite plaything - start of a life long love affair!

Hope everyone else is doing OK and having fun in the sun with their little darlings.

iris66 · 13/06/2006 10:40

{shhhhhhh verywhisperyjustincaseIcurseit emoticon}Smile Dom slept 12-5 on Monday night & 12-6 last night!! ShockGrinGrin
I'm Almost glad DH got delayed now (now not back until end of the week) as I was really hoping that he'd eventually learn to settle himself. Yay!! much chuffedness in irisville!
Just to clarify - Dom's not actually crawling Shock he just shoves himself forwards on his face - not coordinating his arms much at all - are anyone elses LOs having trouble realising that swinging their heads up & headbutting the floor really hurts !!!!! He finally discovered his feet last night though (bless) he was looking at them with a kind of "wow - where did these new toys come from" look on his face & has been sucking his toes ever since.
Rach - has Fin carried on his bigger sleeps too?
With you on the anti fashion feeling. Such a bad look (well - it was on me!{shudders to remember}) but great for your party Georgie!! (to add to the age admissions.... I'll be 40 in Nov - eeeuuuuuw that sounds soooo old Shock - DD & I are having a joint party (hat theme) as she'll be 18 in Nov. Think I'd best plan to try for No.3 very soon after!)

Lisa - brilliant that they were able to get DH home for you - all the very best for today hon!

Lyra - you still about lovely? Hope you can prise the kids off the pc so you can post Smile

Nappies/Georgie - am hot footing it to town as you read!!! Grin

iris66 · 13/06/2006 17:07

hi all - won't be around for a while. My dad died this afternoon - very peacefully, in his sleep. No idea why as he was just about to be moved to convalesce in a local cottage hospital. Am in denial I think. It's my brother's birthday Sad See you in a while. x

BBWBabeLisa · 13/06/2006 17:32

I feel so deflated. Saw the surgeons today and the message was basically, "you're on the waiting list, keep waiting". Apparently it makes no difference that I've had to go to a&e twice in 2 weeks and that my gall bladder has now become infected.
On both ocassions in a&e the doctor on duty offered me the option of being admitted, and both said it may speed things up somewhat, but I wanted to come home and was sure when the surgeons saw how ill I'd been at this appt something would be done. Well, needless to say next time I have to go to a&e (which is bound to be sooner rather than later) I'll be letting them admit me. I can't go on like this. I'm almost tempted to sit down to a big fatty meal to set off an attack (wouldn't even take that much if the last weeks are anything to go by).
Arrgghhh I'm just so frustrated.

NappiesGalore · 13/06/2006 18:03

oh Lisa - thinking of you hun.

BBWBabeLisa · 13/06/2006 18:38

Oh god, Iris, I'm so sorry. I came straight onto the computer and posted my rant without even reading what posts there had been.
Forgive my tactless rant. My thoughts are with you and your family.

HeyThereGeorgieGirl · 13/06/2006 19:41

Hey Iris - My thoughts are with you and your family in this time of sorrow. Am so sorry. It must be a complete shock. Loads of love and hugs to you. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to ease your grief.

Lise - Whilst I do love the concept of the NHS I could quite cheerfully kick it up the jacksy when I hear about situations like yours. What a p*sser. it seems crazy that they have to leave you in so much pain. Wish I could send you the moneyt to have it done privately.

lilstarry1 · 13/06/2006 20:33

Iris - I'm really sorry, I know you probably won't see this, and I know I wasn't always close to my dad, but if you want to talk to anyone - I'm here. It's terribly hard when someone seems to be making a recovery, I hope you can focus on the good times and the love..

All our thoughts and love is with you, focus on your family!
xxx

lilstarry1 · 13/06/2006 20:36

BBWlisa - also wanted to say, I'm sorry that the NHS aren't helping you quicker :( I can't begin to know how much pain you are in, just try and stay sane with it... Lets hope the date for the op comes around quickly and everything goes smoothly.

What an awful time some of us are having :(
I've had a shit day (sorry to swear, but honestly). Went into Uni, got drenched in the torrential downpour.. Was told I have to take certain modules (very boring!), lost my new mobile phone, got home and threw up several times due to a mind-splitting migraine.. Now Bee isn't settling and our new neighbours have chosen 8-30 as a good time to drill their walls. Am very annoyed but lacking the energy to take action.

Lets hope everyone else is having a better time.
My love to you all
xxx

wherethewildthingsare · 14/06/2006 10:21

I'm so sorry Iris :( - what a devastating blow for you after everything he has been through with his illness. I know you probably won't read this and I'll text you. Thinking of you all xxx

sweetkitty · 15/06/2006 15:39

Iris - so sorry to hear about your Dad, thinking of you and sending you some virtual hugs xxx

Lisa - sorry to hear about your situation too makes me so Angry to think of them letting you suffer in pain with a young baby to look after too. Hope it won't be long until you are off the list.

lilstarry - hope you are having a better day today.

All's pretty quiet here, DD1 and I have stinking colds again, I've got a rasping, crackly chest yuck. Been a bit naughty and bought some Lemsips. Just wish poor DD1 would get rid of her snotty nose for once she's had a runny nose since January and I feel like all I do is chase after her wiping it. Talia is fine, her usual big happy self. DP is away tonight so I'm on my own Sad

Hope everyone else and their babies are doing ok too.

NappiesGalore · 15/06/2006 17:23

Iris - so so sorry to hear about your father. wishing you all the strength you'll need to get through this time.

BBWBabeLisa · 15/06/2006 20:45

Hi Girls
I'm feeling a lot better than I was, thanks. Lola has just been the most amazing baby this week. It's like she's sensed that mummy's not been well. Last night she went down at 8.30 (she no longer has dreamfeeds so when she goes down thats her down for the night now, usually til 8am or a wee bit after) and this morning when I woke there wasn't a murmer coming from her cradle so I figured it must still be about 6am or something. Imagine my shock when I rolled over and looked at the clock to find it was quarter to ten!! I jumped out of bed in a panic and peered over her cradle to find her lying there wide awake and smiling up at me. I've no idea how long she'd been awake but she was quite happily lying there amusing herself til I woke up. I'd been thinking a lot over the last few days about all the things she's NOT doing (that all the babycentre update emails etc say she should) like rolling over, reaching for objects etc and this morning I decided she's just a laid back baby who's in no rush, and if it means her sleeping a good 12 hours every night I'll take that.

barrelrider · 16/06/2006 10:12

Iris I'm so sorry to hear about your father. My thoughts are with you.

BWBL 12 hours a night! Nice one!! Like you say, so what if she's not rolling over etc, they all develop differently. bet you don't know many mums whose babies are as developed as Lola in the sleeping department!!! Lovely to hear about her chilling in the cot while you were asleep. My little one does that too and he's a laid back cookie, bodes well for later I reckon.

Hope everyone OK xxxxx

sweetkitty · 16/06/2006 14:20

Lisa - don't worry about the babycentre bulletins, with my first she was never doing any of what they said she should be. She was last of our little group of friends to roll, reach out for toys, crawl etc and she was up and walking at a year. Lola will do it in her own time too. It has no bearing on intelligence when they do all these things (not matter what competitive parents tell you)! Hope you have a good weekend and aren't in too much pain.

Had to go there Abbie was hitting her sister Sad little madam has learned how to hit!

loomer · 17/06/2006 10:02

Oh Iris, what sad news, and such a blow when he was recovering so well... am thinking of you and family.

Lisa, you are such a patient woman (although what choice do you have?)... I can't believe they're not hurrying things along for you. It sounds like Lola is a total angel baby though - how wonderful that she is sleeping so well and such a happy little soul. As you say, perhaps she is picking up on what a difficult time you are having?

Lilstarry, sorry to hear of your shitty day - do you suffer with migraines generally? I get one about twice a year, but noticed that I didn't have any whilst pregnant. However, I've had two since Scarlett arrived... is there a connection I wonder?

Hope everyone's able to enjoy the weekend sunshine. I'm off to a friend's garden with paddling pool this afternoon, lovely!

wherethewildthingsare · 19/06/2006 07:55

Hi all, hope everyone and all the babies are fine.

Lisa - hope you are not feeling too bad - how fab that Lola is sleeping so well, again, don't worry about the rolling stuff, she is obviously a very laid back babe!

Finn just will not do more than 4-5 hrs without a feed at any time, he drains a boob in about 5 mins and then unless he wants a little comfort suck, tears his head away, lets rip a huge burp and wants to be on the go! He doesn't seem to want more than 2-3oz of EBM from a bottle and just chews the end of the teat in disgust. I have started giving him food to play with while we are eating eg carrots/broccoli and some baby rice cakes but he's only gumming them at at the moment.

Dp and I actually got out for a night out - well 3 hours anyway (we hadn't been before mainly because I couldn't be arsed to express before now and it was easier to take him) it was our 4 year anniversary of meeting, would never have thought 4 years ago that what started as a bit of a fling with a toyboy would lead to a bouncing bundle of fun and an enormous family!

Went to see a couple of nurseries last week and have decided to go back to the one dd went to 4 years ago - hopefully F will do 3 days, MIL will do one and Fridays I will manage at home with him. Feeling a lot more positive about the whole thing - the nursery's baby room only has 3 babies to 2 staff at any one time, they have their own cook and they take the babies out in buggies to the park to feed the ducks/swans most days. I just need to get into some kind of feeding routine... Anyone else back to work soon?

wherethewildthingsare · 19/06/2006 07:57

Oh, forgot to say it was Rach again! :)

Loomer - I suffer from hormonally related migraines (but not related to periods/PMT like most people, mine seem to be related to ovulation). Unlike you, I had quite a few in early pregnancy, a corker 2 days after delivery and in the past have had them as I wean eg when LO sleeps through the night, when I drop breastfeeds and when more solids are taken.

BBWBabeLisa · 19/06/2006 17:02

Hi Girls
Thanks everyone for the lovely messages. I'm feeling much better now that the anti-biotics have done their thing, and I think the spasms have actually flushed out my gall bladder as I've been able to eat normally for the last few days (hope I'm not speaking too soon). So much so that Lola and I are going swimming with Eshay and her wee one tomorrow. We tried Lola in our swimming pool in the garden last weekend but she wasn't overly keen, think it was a bit cold for her liking.
Well done on getting a night out Rach. We're going up to Glasgow at the start of July for my mum's birthday and our joint anniversaries (we got married in Vegas with mum & partner as witnesses, 4 days later they tied the knot too!) so we're looking forward to a night out while the grandparents babysit. Dying to go to the cinema and for a nice meal.
I've decided to come off the mini-pill. I am absolutely useless at taking at the same time every day, and DH and I still haven't resumed normal activities partly because of the fear of getting pregnant just yet on my part. I think I'll get another Persona machine. It worked for us to conceive Lola, so it should work for contraception purposes too, and I think I'd be happier than just crossing my fingers that the mini-pill is working despite my lack of punctuality.
