I hate windows 8 too chick and DH has done something so we can just use the desktop.

Crap night here, again. Fuck you 6 month sleep regression.

Today we are moving the cot into DS's own room. Despite it not being remotely necessary, am redecorating in a rocket theme, as we inherited a ceiling covered in beautiful starred wallpaper. And because the room re jigging means DD now has a double bed, I am also totally unnecessarily redecorating her room in a jungle theme. Starting two projects the week before return to full time work - avoidance much? Grin

TheDetective · 02/05/2013 08:39

Fuck you lot with your chocolatey breakfasts. Envy

Fuck you SW!

TheDetective · 02/05/2013 08:42

Bastard dog just stole her first baby toy. Tried running off with Elmo right past my face as I sat on the floor with O.

Attention seeking bugger.

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 08:42

Bad night. Nuff said.

Starting to research BLW today. Think it is the way forward for us. O is at his happiest when he is being independent and he has ace hand-eye coordination.

Have hardly read anything about it as I was intent on purees of which I have a freezer full Any advice/recommendations would be fab Smile

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 08:43

Detective I have had special K with a banana chopped up and 3 biscuits Not all of us have chocolate torte in the house

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 08:54

Someone say my name?

I had raspberries and a fig as well.

No weaning movement here yet. I still have to feed back the stuff from the dietician. I will do so now in a separate post.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 02/05/2013 08:56

Jam doughnut muffins and now chocolate torte. You people are torturing me.

The long turd made me :o too. Why I find poo funny I do not know. Its not funny at all when I have to clean it up.

S has dropped her 11.30 feed. We went right from 7.45 to around 2am. And then 2am to 5! Shes now awake but is lying in the cot quite content so I am leaving her to it.

S was tricky at the start. A vommy baby who wouldnt poo. She wouldnt sleep anywhere on me. Has been teething since 4 weeks. But lately she has become so content. She is a joy.

I hope the reflux problems and voms and night wakenings all start to ease for everyone else!

DP wants to put her in her own room asap. If he had his way she would have gone in when we moved to this house at the start of April. But I am not ready to give up yet. She might be my last (depends on money and I cant see it improving enough for a third any time soon) and I want to keep her with me. DD1 was in with me until 9months...how can I put him off for another 3 months?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 02/05/2013 08:57

Anywhere except on me that should say.

Thechick · 02/05/2013 09:05

Maybe we won't get windows 8. I haven't heard one positive thing.
H is in his own room and has been for about 2 or 3 weeks. I think his sleep has improved but not massively. He's still waking twice, buts its a bit more predictable. He's been fine with it. We ds1 we co slept for ages.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 09:16

Morning all. I am thankful for another week clear of illnesses.

I am thankful that two weeks today we are finally going off to the mountains for a long weekend.

I am thankful that play doh isn't poisonous.

I am thankful that I was able to have a long uninterrupted shower, but not so thankful that the play doh was left in DD1's reach.

The dog can also be thankful that play doh isn't poisonous.

I am thankful that LO has easily settled in her new room and that she only woke up once. I am hopeful that the sleep regression is about to fuck off.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 09:17

H'okay.

*not all babies will show 'an interest' in food particularly so they will need to be encouraged to do so. I found this interesting as I have been waiting for the penny to drop (not literally) with P but this might not happen in an obvious food-grabby way.

*reflux babies are highly variable as you might expect with any baby. Much will depend on how well managed the condition is. So for example a baby who is having regular acid attacks will have a sore and inflamed throat. Avoiding acidic foods will be sensible because it will burn on the way down. However, a baby with reflux which is completely managed should be able to eat acidic foods without any difficulty.

*many reflux babies and particularly those with intolerances will be suspicious of new foods. This might manifest itself in being fine with completely smooth things but very troubled with the stage 2 lumpy stuff. She advised that once we have introduced the concept of eating we quite quickly move on to completely solid food. This might mean that a combination of the two is employed.

She said lots of other stuff about weaning in general which was massively helpful and reassuring. She did say that for babies who are waiting until 6 months you need to move on quite quickly to proteins and so on. She acknowledged that this can put some pressure on so not to feel bad if we start 'early'.

Basically she just reinforced the 'all babies are different' message and encouraged a relaxed approach. I explained to her that I wanted P to relearn eating and to enjoy doing it. Babies with more sever reflux or intolerances possibly will need a different approach . . As this is fine

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/05/2013 09:19

Well my EBM plan isnt going so well. He had a 6.5oz bottle at 10.30 and woke up after 3.5 fucking hours!!! I think we will have to abandon this idea and maybe use your idea stunt of giving EBM at the feed before last one and not expressing at that point so that there is a good supply of milk. I don't doubt my supply at all but it can't hurt eh??

I'm knackered and grumpy. DD goes to nursery at 1pm and I'd normally veg on the couch with J but I'm running my mum here there and everywhere today including cooking her and dad dinner tonight!

On the countdown to Ibiza now!! Need to get some stuff down from the loft tho which should be fun and can't find the sleep shade for the pram so thin we will need to order another, and then no doubt find the old one!!

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 09:27

That's interesting pass. The main reason I wanted to start before 6 months was so we could take things more slowly.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 09:27

det p cries out or whimpers many times in her sleep. Usually from about 2am onwards and 5 or so times that I know of

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/05/2013 09:30

pass she didn't happen to give any tips on how to encourage interest in food?? We are still at the resolutely refusing to open his mouth for anything stage! Oh except boob!

Evilwater · 02/05/2013 09:35

Well, phoned the drs, or should I say the receptionist's. I so hate when they try and solve my problem.

Now waiting for a call back.
Evil

wannabedomesticgoddess · 02/05/2013 09:35

Ok. I have decided.

Today is the day. S will have some butternut squash.

After I get my hair done. :)

YellowWellies · 02/05/2013 09:48

We have weaning club at the local doctors today. Time to get the bear back on the weaning wagon.

Talk of chocolate is verboten until someone finds me a soy and dairy free choc that doesn't taste rank. Envy Wink

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 09:51

Good prioritisation wanna. I sooooo need my hair done. It is a horrendous mop.

izzy hmm. Nothing specific I'm afraid. What about a finger? Would J lick something off your finger? Weirdly P does 'get' spoons. Could you just give him a spoon to play with for a while? Big 'good boys' when he puts it in his mouth? Has DH tried without you there?

MissMummy1 · 02/05/2013 09:51

YW is that in the bay or kdy?

Last night was not successful. I took her to work with me and she was not impressed about being woken up from her carseat to go to bed. She retaliated and woke me up for the day at 3am Confused

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 09:53

Might go and get a slice of melon for P and see what she does.

TheDetective · 02/05/2013 09:59

Courgette has been the best nomming blw food here!

YW sowwwwwwy Grin

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/05/2013 10:01

Tried the finger idea but meets with same clamped jaw and head turned away. DH hasn't tried so far. He is a bit rubbish with hand eye coordination so shall try the spoon thing in case that helps. I thought he would love food!!

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 10:01

Must get a high chair. P trying to nom a slice of melon at the same time as jumping? Probably not the best lesson in table manners.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 10:04

You know izzy maybe he just isn't ready yet. I know you wanted to nail it before holidays but it is possible he simply can't fathom it yet. Go with the spoon to play with and see how that goes. Maybe on holiday you could try him with finger food and go straight to that? Apparently I was over 6 months before I would eat food. And that was back in the day when 3 months was normal.
