Put some carrot on your tits. Sorry very juvinille of me! It made me giggle!!

I'd just keep popping finger foods in front of him and not make a fuss and see if he gets it. I'd put them down 3 times a day when you have your meals?

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 10:08

Izzy we do what detective suggested. F isn't ready yet, I suspect, as she can't sit properly and still has the tongue-thrust reflex. But every meal time, she goes in her high chair, with a spoon to play with and a piece of fruit to lick.

Clarella · 02/05/2013 10:20

love to be a fly on your wall det!

really rather bad night from 2 onwards comfort feeding etc. I'm giving regular gavisgon today to see if it makes a difference tonight. he awoke with a high pitched squeal too. Sad can't wait to see if omeprozole helps.

thanks for weaning tips pass I've been wondering about how we'll wean. I'm also worried about formula too which I want to introduce before weaning occasionally so he's used to it when I'm at work Confused wasn't going to do till 24 weeks though so another
3 or 4 weeks yet and then wean a couple of weeks later.

ho.pe better soon evil
yes wow to you kyz!
argh forgotten who else to write to.

My DS1 and DS2 are both food refusers. Neither of them would open their mouths for a spoon during weaning. Somehow we managed to get them to eat, I think they both ate a lot of Petits Filous because that was one thing they liked. DS1 would eat pureed apple and DS2 would eat pureed sweet potato. I think that was about it. When I see a baby opening its mouth for the spoon it makes me want to cry. So with J I'll just do whatever works. He's tasted a couple of purees and also cucumber and carrot sticks and some banana. I encourage him to eat but don't push it, if he's not interested then that's fine. I think it'll be easier once he's six months and can have toast and yoghurt. Whatever happens with J, I don't want to get stressed out like with the other two. Well-meaning idiots people will tell you that babies will eat when they're hungry. Well it's not always true, my DS1 and DS2 were both very poor eaters and even now eat very small quantities. It's as if food just doesn't interest them.

J has slept through 5 nights now, since ranitadine. 7pm to 7 am give or take an hour. I am delighted obviously, and he is so much happier.

We plan to reintroduce solids at the weekend. He is 27 weeks today, and I am scared to rock the boat, but he cannot stay on just milk for ever.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 11:38

stunt that does my head in as well. "Baby will eat when she's hungry" "she won't let herself starve".

Garbage. Utter garbage.

That is brilliant news VQ. Good job J!! What a champion.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 02/05/2013 11:46

Woohoo vq that's amazing news!!! Now if only my J would get the hint!! He seems to hate eating and sleeping!

F has just slept in her cot for TWO HOURS.
During this time I have eaten biscuits in the sun, and read a book. Only came in because it was too hot Grin

ValiumQueen · 02/05/2013 12:51

Pennie just make sure it is full fat and not packed full of sugar. I have used natural yog in the past mixed with fruit puree.

Izzy I do wonder if there is an intolerance going on with your J.

Jacob really wants solids. He looks so sad when we eat.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 02/05/2013 13:08

DS likes his puree but is definitely keen on finger food too. He launched himself at a cake DD was eating yesterday, and cried when she moved it out of his grasp. We gave him a tiny bit and he got it straight into his mouth and chewed and swallowed like a pro. And up until a week ago he was looking interested but not really 'getting' it.

This afternoon will be spent in the sunshine with the paddling pool out. It is lovely and warm in this part of the world, BP

Am really hoping sleep improves soon. I take heart from other people's success - looking at you VQ in particular.

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 13:08

VQ that's wonderful Smile. He must be feeling so much better in himself.

What a beautiful day. Took O up to my old work, where P still works to meet P for lunch and meet people. O sat in his pushchair in the 'sitting up' position for the first time and loved it and then screamed at met everyone at work. Had a little walk about in the sun which was lovely.

He's now shattered and asleep. I'm pooped too.

MissMummy1 · 02/05/2013 13:10

Izzy did you get my PM? I probably ballsed up sending it on my second attempt too Blush

Fab news VQ !!

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 13:13

Sunny and warm here. Any dairy products are OK after 6 months as long as full fat and, in the case of cheese, pasteurised. Eggs need to be cooked right through (which ruins them in my opinion but never mind)

PetiteRaleuse · 02/05/2013 13:14

That's great news VQ you ust feel like a new woman

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 13:15

Going to give O carrot sticks for dinner tonight to see if we can build on our broccoli success. Will probably try courgette soon too.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 13:18

Weird. P is really struggling to sleep during the day. Nap times currently shape up like this:

Eye rubbing and moaning
Take upstairs
Pop in sleeping bag
Total meltdown
Pick up and shoosh pat
Frantic stuffing of face into my arm put thus dislodging dummy thus causing meltdown
Looking sleep with eye rolling
Sudden almost spasm
Leg kicking and frantic crying.

On and on and on.

Sleep for 32 minutes. Really.

Odd

ChasingDaisy · 02/05/2013 13:20

We have the frantic stuffing of face into arm here too pass. Is she overtired? Or developmentally leaping perhaps? (My go to reason for any tricksy behaviour)

Clarella · 02/05/2013 13:42

wow vq!!! fx we get some results here. I'd be happy with 5 hours. actually 3 would make me very happy right now Grin

PurplePidjin · 02/05/2013 13:43

Didn't get the job. Another internal candidate did - one who has systematically pissed off every member of staff over the last few years. Including me, and you have to really be going some to get me riled Hmm i will be watching for fireworks!

1/2 banana with milk before and after. Now sparko on me after a 5 mile walk this morning. I'm going to try a transfer, might get 10 minutes peace Shock

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 13:47

I'm so tired today that I am amazed to find it's not even 2 o clock yet.

Pass when F is tired, I have to keep her head away from anything as she will rub her face backwards and forwards until she hurts herself. She's more inclined to do it if she's overtired though, I almost need to set myself a timer to remind myself to get her to nap, because by the time she's showing signs of tiredness, it's too late, if that makes sense.

The cat has sat on the windowsill of the utility room howling for 4 hours now. To say he is unimpressed with his house arrest would be an understatement.

Passmethecrisps · 02/05/2013 13:47

Yes to overtired chasing. I have just put her back down after she woke from a 32 minute nap still eye rubbing but absolutely would not go back to sleep. Cue total and utter meltdown where she was crying so hard she stopped breathing. I think she has a lot going on in her wee brain - she is desperate to crawl and is very close to sitting alone so who knows what might be going on.

Hopefully she will have a nice sleep and feel better.

BigPigLittlePig · 02/05/2013 13:48

X-post pidj - sorry to hear that Thanks
