Good one Birdies

Sorry to hear having a bad time of it Tugs, Glorious, Lost. Hope things improve soon.

Lora, no clue, but let me know when you find out!

We have had a productive day here. Lots of poo, boak and screaming, but also managed to ring round all the local childminders/ nurseries and book visits. And also went to the sling library to borrow two new slings. Including one forward facing since he has become so curious.

Birdies · 08/05/2013 17:53

I can hear whoo hoo!

pascha would you recommend the barn for 2 babies then? We're looking for a holiday cottage type thing and aren't wanting to go to far. And you know how I love to buy whatever you recommend Grin

Hope your DD feels better soon lost

I tired the jumperoo today but she's too little to even get her arms resting on the top. I can just see her head and shoulders poking out!

Birdies · 08/05/2013 17:54

Ps loving the Boori cot bed by the way, DD has so much more room now

Berniebennett · 08/05/2013 19:02

For teething problems have you tried the granules? We found the gel impossible to "massage gums" as suggested and not very effective once in but the granules have been amazing!

Pascha · 08/05/2013 19:44

hot tub accessed directly from the master bedroom yes its lovely, child friendly, the owners are great and ducks and chikens roam freely around from the farm next door

I'll link it later if you like.

Glad you like the Boori too.

Did I read upthread that you thought I was recommending a £40 babies jumper and would consider one? Confused

Hmm now what else can I suggest to your impressionable mind? you muppet Wink

Birdies · 08/05/2013 19:58

Where do you get the granules from bernie?

pascha yes link please! We were thinking of going to an apmt in the Lakes again but it's top floor and can't see us getting the pram in etc easily so we're on the lookout for somewhere else, but I do prefer recommended places seeing as holidays are so rare. And def like the sound of a hot tub!

Re jumper, no of course not was slightly disappointed it wasn't something else I might want to buy. Am not loaded though, am just shopping addict Grin

glorious · 08/05/2013 20:17

Oh lost that sounds horrible you poor things.

Well done on the expressing and syringe feeding tugs , what a mammoth effort.

Fingers crossed for tonight.

Pascha · 08/05/2013 20:32

here you go

Birdies · 08/05/2013 21:18

Thanks :) It looks lovely....and all booked up :(. At least, it says 'unknown' in the weeks we could do in June....

Lora1982 · 08/05/2013 22:16

I was wondering about the granuals too. No chance of any massaging of any gums is possible here.

Washing machines bust :'(

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/05/2013 02:09

OK so why has dd now decided to feed every two hours on the dot at night, for the last few nights? when until a week ago she was going up to five hours, and she is still going for 3 to 4 hours in the day? help!

Lostbobbles · 09/05/2013 02:56

Angry This baby is taking the biscuit. Up every hour just to use me as a dummy, she's not even hungry.

glorious · 09/05/2013 03:29

You have my sympathy Sad

I think Ellen is reverse cycling kellymom.com/bf/normal/reverse-cycling/ because she's too keen to look around and play in the day. I'm going to try to get her to take more in the day but I don't have much hope as she's generally quite clear about what she wants!

glorious · 09/05/2013 03:30

Blast.

Meringue33 · 09/05/2013 03:33

The witching hour :(

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/05/2013 06:00

sorry to hear others are having the same problems but it is good to know I am not alone!

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/05/2013 06:02

thanks for the link I think I will try the same today and see if it makes any difference

Bunny222 · 09/05/2013 07:43

Thanks for the AF feedback.

Sorry to hear those having a pants time with teething - am dreading it!

More nitetime feeding going to pot here - stirring at 1.30, fed at 3am (breast then bottle) then 6am, 7am, now doing 7.30 bottle! :-( am missing my sleep.

octanegirl · 09/05/2013 09:08

What does AF stand for? Awful Faff? Autonomous Flow? Autumnal Fawn?
Whatever it stands for, I don't have it either!
LO has worked out how to get my attention - half crying, then I look at him and he beams, I look away and he half cries again, I look back, beaming grin. Repeat!

I think you can get them at most (largest) supermarkets, pharmacies and boots (even amazon) we got ours from waitrose and then when we realised they worked we stocked up at boots, I think they are 4.50 a box but you get a lot in them (currently have a sleeping baby on me at the mo so can't check exact details, bad mummy) . We have got the nelson natural granules, I think calpol might do a version also. I know a few other mums who recommend these over the gel also, if you've tried everything else maybe worth a go?

Birdies · 09/05/2013 11:10

I'm glad you asked octane as I don't have a clue what it stands for either! I don't have mine, but I thought it doesn't come back til you stop bf?

mrsbugsy I wish I knew! We're doing a consistent 2.5-3 hours at night though now which is an improvement, but how I long for the 8-9 hour sleeps that she used to do! She's also wide awake after 10 hours which I don't get (used to sleep 12).

Poor you lost, every hour is tough

Louise85 · 09/05/2013 11:39

Love the support from this forum! having a crap day. started detox which doesn't help either. just coming on here and reading all about buggy purchases etc has made me smile...right, got to go fix make-up after lots of tears this am before school run.

thanks for the tip about double nappy - one back to front - works a treat!!

mrsbugsywugsy · 09/05/2013 11:45

AF = aunt flo ( I think)

so yesterday's plan to tire dd out by going swimming didn't work, she had a really long nap afterwards but woke every two hours in the night. I checked my phone every time and it was pretty much on the dot. 10, 12, 2, 4, 6 and 8. I always feed her when she wakes up and she takes a snack rather than a full feed, then goes back to sleep. in desperation I gave her a dummy at 4am instead of feeding her and she eventually went back to sleep till 6. so, now I think she is waking from habit not hunger. my plan is to make sure she feeds loads today, then if when she wakes up tonight really try to settle her without feeding her, with the dummy, white noise etc. obviously if she doesn't settle after a few minutes I will have to feed her.

lost you have my sympathy. does your lo use an actual dummy.

I think the worst thing is that you expect no sleep with a newborn, but the fact that she was sleeping and has suddenly got worse is hard to take.

on a more positive note we have discovered that dd really likes the MAM dummies and doesn't spit them out all of the time like the other brands.

we also went to see a nursery today, it seemed quite nice. they advised us to put our names down asap for a January place, eek!

happyhow · 09/05/2013 11:58

Bugsy - I put my name down last July for a nursery and have only just found out that I've got a place for Bailey. Even then, it starts in Sept and I need it for Aug when the schools go back. I'm desperately hoping it'll be able to come forward...

Bailey ended up with quite a temp yest after his imms but he kept spitting out the calpol. Little bugger. He eventually took some at 8pm but it took til after 11 for his temp to come down and he wouldn't settle til about midnight. He slept til half 6 though and has had quite a big nap this morning.

Weather is still lovely up here so looking forward to a walk this afternoon.

Angielka · 09/05/2013 12:31

birdies my period didn't come back until I stopped bfing DD1 but has already come back even though I'm bfing Molly... don't ask me why

For all of you with frequently-waking babies, DD1 had terrible sleep regression when she was this age - went from sleeping all night to waking every two hours. No advice other than to ride it out as with all irritating phases and believe it was pass, as it will. Also, start napping as much as possible and stock up on chocolate for energy, like with a newborn.
