Well fuckery!!
n has started tantrums! Yes, that's right. When I don't get what he wants, he goes bright red and straighten his arms. So a big fuck up!
I feel like a dog trainer at the moment, praising good and ignoring the bad.

Evil

Evilwater · 17/04/2013 09:37

Oh I hate camping! I really hate camping!
Evil

Lily311 · 17/04/2013 09:44

I went camping ones in Spain. Took the whole sodding tent, sleeping bags, etc with us on the plane. It was 40 degrees, we melted. Never again.

Lily311 · 17/04/2013 09:44

Once not ones

MissMummy1 · 17/04/2013 09:45

Down at 8 then up at 11, 3 and awake for the day at 5. I'll buy that for now. Pass is there a 5 month regression?

I am yet to see the stove. AFAIK (from his justifying) it burns wood and can be used to cook from and heat water. Fuck knows what else. I can think of 101 better uses for the money aside from the fact we dont really have it to spend in the first place Angry VQ he has 8 tents. Need I say anymore? The lavu is his favourite. By choice he would live in it. he may not have a choice He also has a landrover roof tent. We no longer have a landrover Angry . My eBay account will be abused the day I get into his garage!!! Hmm

Since her taste of formula M has virtually given up on bfing. She pisses about with my boobs, feeds for a minute then cries whilst furiously sucking her fists. Sad Help!

Passmethecrisps · 17/04/2013 10:01

Could be MM. We we sideswiped by the four month one so I suppose I had it coming.

P is in her Jumperoo bouncing furiously while watching heir hunters. I can see her fontanelle pulsing. Is that normal?

Not sure about the BF issue MM. I imagine it is because she has to work harder at the breast than the bottle. She might go through a bit of a fussy phase then accept it. Not sure. Someone else should be able to help though.

ValiumQueen · 17/04/2013 10:02

mm no more formula for a while then. If she is hungry she will feed again. Little rascal. I too would happily live in a lavu. With a wood burning stove.

A small dustpan and brush is essential camping kit. They are small so there is more room for wine essential camping equipment.

Passmethecrisps · 17/04/2013 10:05

Maybe N will be a perfect toddler evil. He might be itall out of his system now!

chasing signs of readiness for weaning are:
*ability to sit.

  • hand eye coordination meaning that things in hand go in mouth pretty accurately *loss of tongue thrust reflex.

Have I missed one?

YellowWellies · 17/04/2013 10:06

MM Friday would be lovely! As for the disinterest in BF it could be because its more effort to get milk from boobs than a bottle - some babies do refuse the boob after - its a fear of mine actually if we try to introduce expressed bottles. Call the HV maybe - I'm not sure what to suggest?

£250 on a camping stove I'd kill him! I used to do a lot of camping when on digs, in my distant past as an archaeologist. I also like camping at festivals and when travelling in remote places. I quite like being grubby and roughing it - but to me camping is one thing, a holiday something else (usually involves a bed and hot water).

Pass fontanelle pulsing - yep normal! O's was pulsing the other day. First time I noticed it. Made me feel a little queasy!

Evil O has violent tendencies! He is very strong for a little one, and he bloody well hurts. If you don't get what he wants right he definitely gets his tantrum on.

He has just been sat here feeding. Twatting the fuck out the bottle. Why? Why is hitting everything and anyone me his favourite thing to do?? We've already progressed to no... No Oscar. No. Be gentle.

PetiteRaleuse · 17/04/2013 10:31

Fresh air is the best way of making kids sleep. So looking forward to our time in the mountains in a few weeks, then in the UK in June there will be the sea air. Took DD1 to the Normandy coast when she was just under three months. Set her up for really sleeping through the nights. And most of the day too :o

Pass you missed out showing an interest in food

Pulsing fontanelles freak me out but intrigue me at once..

ChasingDaisy · 17/04/2013 10:31

Thanks pass and yep O's fontanelle pulses while he feeds. It freaks me out. Yuck.

He just drank 5oz which he hasn't done in ages. Thank God.

MM I agree with others, probably due to bottle being easier to feed from. I'm sure she will feed properly if hungry though.

Going toy shopping for O tomorrow. Any suggestions? Going to have a look at walkers. Are they A Good Thing? I think I read something about them being bad as they encourage babies to walk on tiptoes. I think he needs more stimulation so want something noisy and flashy that he can sit in preferably.

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 10:36

Bryz If I knew what did it, I'd fucking bottle it and send it to all you fuckers after stock piling it for O first Grin.

Well, what a thoroughly unusual pleasant morning. Hmm

I have thought about the refluxy behaviour. I have noted some developmental leaps - yesterday he sat unaidied for about 20 seconds. He can now do this if he is reaching for a toy in front, but not to the sides or anywhere else! He is doing quite a few new things at the minute really. I think the new found mobility has caused the clingy behaviour perhaps.

So, this morning, after his feed, I put him back asleep. Figured I'd chance the cot. I lay back in bed, and starfished while DP got up for work. At 8.25 O woke. His delighted little squeals made me want to go running but starfishing won out but he was happy. Leave a happy baby well alone, right?! So he stayed happy. Til 9.05. I assumed he had broken out the swaddle to be happy for so long.

No. He was completely swaddled, and the blankets exactly tucked in how I had left him!

So I got him up, and bought him for cuddles in bed with me. The dog decided to join us Grin but don't tell DP I have had to hoover the fucking bed now! and O squealed and writhed with delight, cuddling up to the dog, patting her, stroking her, rubbing his face in her. She was a little nervous of him, but as long as I was stroking her too, she didn't give too much of a shit! We spent a good 30 minutes like this!

Then we got up, and lazed our way downstairs. O then fed. And is now back upstairs, in cot. Asleep.

Happy Detective!

In June there will also be blue air PR Grin.

YellowWellies · 17/04/2013 10:39

Jonas is starting with hissy fits too - when disgruntled he flaps his arms and blows his lips (like a horse). DH calls it 'spitting feathers'. It looks so comical he has us both in stitches poor little chap!

MM think VQ is likely right, if you want to continue BF I'd knock the formula on the head for a wee while. Its a useful tool in the arsenal but I'm guessing DH isn't about to volunteer for every night feed and BF is much easier at night. (if you want to keep on, of course)

Our first night in the cot would have been grand bar DH waking him twice. He does seem to startle in it more - so had him playing in it today to get him chilled out about being in it. He looks so wee in it Smile

ChasingDaisy · 17/04/2013 10:55

issi I was thinking jumperoo or maybe something a bit cheaper.

O has also become demanding. When I try to take his sippy cup of water away he slams his hands on his snug tray.

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 10:59

Toys... well. Ahem. Jumperoo is good - he hasn't yet figured out bouncing, but he loves the flashing lights, and eating the birds nom nom. Something he does love, which I got him for Christmas thinking it would be something for next year is his Vtech walker. It has a removable bit which flashes and makes noises. O adores this. Will spend ages hitting the fuck out of it playing with it. I put him in the bumbo, and then wedge the handle of toy thing under the sofa, and put O's bumbo in front of the sofa, so the thing doesn't move while he is hitting ten shades of merry hell out of it. Hmm You can get those walkers cheap btw on facebook sites. Even new you can get them for £20.

Other toys... DS1 at this age loved his swing. He had one that was far more upright than O's is. I am thinking of getting him a second hand one that is bigger, and putting the one he does have away.

The following are all things or similar things that DS1 liked at 4-6 months plus.

Or, instead of the above (I had that one on the cot above but thinking of the below one instead for O)

direct.asda.com/Fisher-Price-Piano-Gym---W2621/000765074,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=ad-ppc--ggle-pla--Toys-and-Games-_-000765074&utm_source=ggle-pla&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=000765074&utm_content=Toys-and-Games&utm_campaign=ad

I get most of O's bigger toys second hand mostly, from facebook selling sites, so I can pick them up. I haven't spent a lot, but have far too many! I just love trying different things to find what he loves. If he doesn't like it, it gets sold on, or if I think useful for the next one, put away. So far, we've not sold anything that I've bought for him! I tend to try him with it before buying. Grin

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 11:01

How can a 4 month old baby be stronger than a fully grown adult?! I'm stronger than DP, but DP has width on me, so he can clamp him down when he starts thrashing!

He's scarred me! He scratched me, and it was really deep. Has left a scar. On my chin. Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 17/04/2013 11:05

Ah yes pr interest in food! Little miss modelling type will be in milk forever then. I made DH a cheese sandwich yesterday and one of the bits was tiny so I handed it to p to see what she would do. She held it in both of her hands looking confused then started flinging it about.

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 11:13

Oh my word, I am so confused.

Being out of work means you just get the tail end of chinese whispers about everything.

Just reading on our private facebook group about shift time changes and the forced 30 minute unpaid break that we had put on us 18 months ago, might be getting taken back so we can go back to 7.5 hour shifts with 20 min paid break yeah right. I mean the whole thing has been a joke with no one ever getting 50 minute breaks, and we have books to put the untaken breaks in, which managers have to sign, and half the time won't, or say they will then don't. I know I have 12 hours in there owed triple that though of untaken breaks from a 4 month period.

(The book also has a habit of disappearing and a new one being started Hmm)

Also read that the unsocial enhancements we get while on sick leave (to take us up to 'full' pay) are being removed, so you just get basic full pay. As far as I was aware that was an agenda for change thing, so surely they can't just remove that?! Not that it matters to me right now, as I won't get them while I am off sick now anyway.

And what VQ said about the maternity bank hols - I still can't find out anything!

Do you think I should ring the union to clarify all this stuff?!

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 11:31

Just been sent this. Shock

Did you hear my mouth just hitting the floor?! I am fairly sure A4C wasn't optional. Confused

'The unions have been negotiating over agenda for change for the last few months apparently it was costing too much money and even the unions agreed that it was unsustainable so either it would have to go completely or we just lost some elements of it. Hence that is why we are now only being paid sick pay at flat rate. Also when you are off sick then they now have a new department call wellbeing or something similar and they will ring you each day of your absence to see how you are. They will also be setting the targets and issuing warnings for absences. It is all to cut back on sickness isn't it. Also D&V is now counted again on your sick record.'

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 11:32

Do you think they are going to ring me every day?!

Please let them. I will have SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun with that! You know me, no holds barred! I'll give them a full description of my vagina every single day. And my arsehole.

Ooooh, go on. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease do it!!!!

TheDetective · 17/04/2013 11:59

Oscar is currently having a whale of a time, having escaped the swing and the fucking straps ffs! and is pretty much on the floor, but still playing with the toy bar and the escaped straps.

Shit, I've got a houdini, haven't I?!
