pr hugs. Ill babies are never fun.

O was up at 10,1,4 and 7. This is the baby who only woke twice as a newborn. Than slep through for 3 weeks from week 10. I am really fed up waking as often.

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/04/2013 08:59

tits sorry to hear about your hospital trip. Hope it goes ok for you all Thanks

E woke once around 5am. Have her a 15min bf followed by tube then she went back till 7:30 when we had cuddles in bed till DD1 came and joined us for more cuddles at 8am. Lovely way to start the day.

Am off to collect my Tripp trapp this morning and then off to a weaning talk this afternoon. I puréed a butternut squash yesterday and got enough to last 2 weeks. Think I'll mix it in with some other stuff as it will get very dull otherwise.

Quick question peeps, my DH gave me a Kindle Fire for my birthday then said he could change it if I didn't like it. Now I'm not sure whether I need a tablet really. I have a Kindle 3 that I prefer for reading since the screen isn't backlit, we have a desktop and a laptop computer, and I have an iPhone that I use for MN the Internet, email, etc. I suspect the main use it would get would be for my six year old to play games on. Now if it had been a Kindle Paperwhite I would have been delighted at the upgrade because I have loads of books on my Kindle. Any advice please?

Ooh. L fed at 9.30, went down around ten and then I only remember settling him once or twice before he woke for a feed at 4.30. Ok he only had another hr after the feed but that's still progress. Stunt our sleep regression seemed to last weeks too, although it was combined with cold and formula issues so hard to tell exactly.

Currently trying to coax/feed/sing him into a nap as he's been awake since 6.30 but he keeps stuffing his fist in his mouth and then complaining when the milk stops.

Sorry to hear about your hol PR you need something to look forward to. Black Forest Gateaux sounds nice too though.

We covered puree weaning at the New Parent classes but I have just read the BLW book and DH is reading it now so we might go for that. I am also nervous but also super excited about all the stuff VQ mentions.

PetiteRaleuse · 08/04/2013 09:07

I'd keep it or exchange for the paperwhite stunt

Though personally I would keep it. You can still use your old kindle to read, but the fire will open you up to so much more opprtunity to timewaste. And yes, great to occupy older chidren for a short while if you need to.

ValiumQueen · 08/04/2013 09:27

fruit this thread did not come up on threads I'm on. Just the last one. I had last posted on that one with the app and been on the iPad for this thread. No worries. Found it in the end.

TryingtobelessChunkyChick · 08/04/2013 09:29

Missed 3pgs or something Confused

DS was odd last night. Bed ok but woke a couple of hrs later & wouldn't settle w/out a feed, so used it as the dream feed & went to bed myself. I think he stirred at 5.30 but was awake when DH got up (so snap VQ) so fed him at 6.50, then he slept again until 8. Just had another feed though Confused and is grumpy.

stunt I have an iPad from work & that's quite handy but if you'd prefer a paperwhite, why not exchange it?

ValiumQueen · 08/04/2013 09:35

stunt I love my iPad. Nothing else compares IMO.

StuntNun · 08/04/2013 09:37

It's the screen of the Kindle 3 that I prefer because it isn't lot so it doesn't cause eye strain, you can read it outside and it doesn't interfere with melatonin production and stop you getting to sleep. The Kindle Fire is a lovely thought but, to me, combines the worst features of the Kindle range with being a not particularly good tablet in terms of apps etc. It would be different if I didn't have an iPhone but I already use it for everything even online Tesco grocery shopping, news, weather, MN, Facebook. I even have the Kindle app so I have something to read while waiting for appointments. I think I might ask DH to exchange it for the Paperwhite. I suspect he has designs on my Kindle 3.

I wouldn't be complaining it it was an iPad VQ apart from about the cost but then I definitely wouldn't be able to prise it from DS2's grubby little fingers!

9-1.30-4.30-6-8

Slowly slipping back into more frequent wakings again, and I'm not sure why. She seems happier today, more chatty and smiley, so I'm not sure whether to go to the GPs or not. I think I'd feel like a massive time waster as she's quite contented.

DHs alarm often wakes F up, but he is not capable of getting up after the first time it goes off, it snoozes about 4 times. Or he turns it off, like today, then has to get ready in about 5 minutes when he accidentally nods off again.

Luis you've listened to our rants and moans enough, 'fess up.
Stunt I have no idea re: kindle, as am about as technologically unadvanced as it is possible to be.
Lily sorry to hear you're in the sleep regression club too Sad

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 09:46

Gooooooooood morning duders.

tits sorry to hear of hospital visit. We shall take seriously the task of ensuring there is plenty of chat for you to read to stave off the boredom

pennie is sudden wakening after sleeping through not a sign of a need for weaning? Or is that an old wives tale?

Tried little miss modelling type in a sleeping bag for bedtime 2 last night. Lasted half an hour. She just seemed a bit confused and I was too knackered and pissed off to stick with it. Better planning required for that I think

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 09:55

stunt I would change it. I think you have plenty browsing devices. Nice thought though.

BP p is a master of making me look like an idiot in front of Doctors. If you have an appointment I would still go even just to chat through the last few days. I am glad she is better today.

Limpit80 · 08/04/2013 10:10

Morning all,
Still catching up! But
Stunt I would get the paperwhite, for the reasons you said really.
VQ You've made me all excited about weaning now! Am a bit worried though his we are going on holiday not long after we start and Im unsure how to manage it in a hotel. Any ideas anyone?
Sorry to hear that so many of you are having bad nights Flowers
I need some advice please. LO will not sleep in his cot anymore. He only ever did a few hours at a time, but now not even that. Last night I was in the bedroom form 7.30 till midnight picking him up and putting him down!Sad. In the end I gave up and put him in with us and he slept for 5 hours then 3! Longest ever! How can I get him to stay in the cot for longer than 15 mins?

LuisGarcia · 08/04/2013 10:21

Stupid night.

Thank you all. MrsG is as always brilliant, and is sending me back to bed once I've been to the doctors. (I've knackered my knee). I don't know how those of you who are not a team with your partners cope, which is why I don't want to be a moan.

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 08/04/2013 10:22

Morning! We've been to the doctors this morning. B had her third set of jabs and I had a smear (sorry Luis). B was very brave, only cried for a minute and promptly fell asleep, I was less brave when I heard the clanking of metal as the nurse cranked open a proper old school speculum! I thought they used a plastic funnel thing these days?

We've also hit sleep regression territory. She's not feeding more but she wakes up every 1-2 hours. I've moved her back into our room in her little crib so that I can lean over and put her dummy in without having to get out of bed.

So sorry your DS is having to go into hospital tits Sad

pennie when I was pregnant, I loved the idea of BLW. I still do, but cannot imagine that F will be able to feed herself anything in 5 weeks time, as she can't pick things up yet. We'll be doing a mix I imagine.

Just managed to make myself feel a bit travel sick, by reading a book whilst pacing with F in the sling Blush. Bloody idiot.

Lily311 · 08/04/2013 11:22

luis moan away pls.

We all have different problems and the support we get here is invaluable. I will join soon the 'hug needed' club, in 3 weeks time my OH would have turned 36, in 7 weeks it's the anniversary of his death. Emotions are building up and I'm pretty sure the meltdown will follow soon enough. I'm ok for now.

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 11:23

Where is this baby's off switch? She just never stops. Be at peace please baby!

PetiteRaleuse · 08/04/2013 11:24

Taking dog to vet tomorrow. He's not himself. Very stressed and the DAP collar isn't working. Growling for no reason, barking at nothing... And the added destruction and loo habits etc.

Hoping the vet will be able to find a reason. It's too recent a change to be linked to LO's arrival. He loves children anyway.

Clarella · 08/04/2013 11:56

oh lily hugs a plenty for you.

just been to Hv led weaning session. they mentioned waking more in night if previously slept well (ha we'll never be ready then!!)

g stood up on my knee excitedly expecting songs n stuff to start. was properly bored by the end but refused boob as was tired - he definitely expects me to go and lie down with him sometimes now. I was jealous of these other babies quietly sucking. he makes such a song and dance!

they also said if starting at 6mo make the food more lumpy. then they said they didn't see the point of blw if waiting till 6 mo because of this Confused however an lll meeting I went to on blw were quite happy to get extra calories into the lo with yogurt etc. I'd see the blw as a play activity almost.

I really want to do blw but I honestly think this lo will be an early mover - he's nearly cracked independent sitting up at 17 weeks - so I'll either have to start mix feeding with formula or do mushy + ebm weaning to simply get calories into him.

seriously thinking a hand pump is going to be useful soon. and starting to freeze milk too. Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 08/04/2013 12:09

I know you will have the thoughts of the whole quiche in the coming weeks lily. Does your move coincide with these dates?

I have decided I am just going to do 'whatever weaning'. P is 5 months next week so I will start looking for signs that she is interested. I will have a few bits and pieces of mushed stuff in the freezer all ready and then introduce other finger bits as and when. It won't be fully BLW and it won't be full whatever the other one is called. I think a lot of my anxiety certainly has been caused by BLW Vs traditional. We don't need to pin our colours to a weaning mast.
