Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FriendofDorothy · 11/04/2013 09:25

Well I have visited my doctor and he has injected my wrist with a steroid so we can now see if that will help.

I asked him about the babe as well and he said to just give him Calpol and see how he goes. If his barking cough continues then he may have croup.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 09:27

Hope it works for you FoD

WLmum · 11/04/2013 10:15

Poor baby fod croup sounds horrible.

Fx it works beasty

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 14:07

Has anyone worked out how to get baby poo out of white vests? That's another one in the bin Hmm

FriendofDorothy · 11/04/2013 14:09

Yes. Wash the as normal (I use a 40 degree wash) and then hang them on the line in the sun and the poo stain magically disappears.

Secondsop · 11/04/2013 14:17

spotty I spray on some vanish stain remover before washing.

ddas · 11/04/2013 14:49

I'm another one that finds if her daytime naps have gone well then nighttime sleep is better.

honey we also have that awake at 5am problem. was the same with ds-we called it the witching hour as past that time it's so hard to settle them. unfortunately the only way we're getting past it is she comes into bed with us then and we practice safe co-sleeping which I never thought I do pre children.

seymore I'd use it if brand new and never been used by them. ds is in a new cotbed now so dd has his old cot now plus mattress which some people say you should get a new one between siblings but don't think we will.

halestone we are only bf post bottle in the morning and evening now plus when she needs comfort (we don't use a dummy so I am her substitute!) so mostly formula now with hardly anything from me probably. As the amount of formula to breast has gone up her weight gain has too so it's for the best.

utopian we'll be in Guildford from the 23rd april and happy with either mondays or fridays. keen to do some classes too. dd has just tagged along so far to ds music class & play groups but want to find a baby sensory class that can take just her to.

mamapo exactly the same age even with edd. noticed that before and makes me realise how little dd is as think it was you that was already nearly up to 6 month clothes? we're only just growing out of our newborn ones! she was only 5lb16 at birth compared to her 8lb brother so think she'll be catching up for a while!!

barbeasty glad they took you seriously. fingers crossed it works. if the domperidone doesn't they can always add in ranitidine.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 15:29

I washed it twice with vanish Hmm and straight away too!

Ds is really fussy on boob at the moment any ideas?

I just had an hours nap and ds had two Shock

WLmum · 11/04/2013 15:29

T is on the cot and mattress that both the others used! It's the non-breathable that would worry me.

T had a short nap this morning and has been down for probably now 1.5 hours now. I agree that good day napping helps good night sleep but the last couple of days she's slept for about 6 hours in the day. It's not beyond the realms that she might have had enough slept in a 24 hour period by 3.30 am I guess. Just had a quiet cuppa and an Easter egg then going to wake her up.

spotty once they've been washed the stains are clean stains so I don't worry. Eventually they'll wash out or we'll get some magic sun or they'll be grown out off. Fx for lovely magic sun!

SkiBunnnnny · 11/04/2013 15:35

Good morning from Canada!

Spotty I soak them in a bucket with v hot water and half a scoop of oxyclean. Can sometimes take around 2 days but always come out eventually.

That's great news barbeasty, hope it works for you!

Seymore, the mattress we have is from ikea and I hate it! It has big sunken spots already where lo's head and bum go. A neighbour recently offered us a bunch of old baby stuff including a mattress. It is plasticky as well, still not sure if I will use it but surely if I disinfect it all it will be alright? I really don't want to buy another one.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 15:38

Ds has the same mattress dd had, it's just a normal sprung one not plastic covered though. He's very sleepy still I'm hoping this is the sleepy stage of the growth spurt?!

SkiBunnnnny · 11/04/2013 15:39

Mama, I've noticed a lot more tummy rumbling and gurgling recently too. At first I thought it was because he was hungry but now I'm thinking maybe it's his digestion maturing or something.

Haha, I only just realised what fx stands for! Blush

ddas · 11/04/2013 16:00

Would have thought it was unusual for a cot mattress to not have one breathable side but not actually sure. Do you know why your friend didn't use it- may be good to find out. If it was in a box- does it have the make & model on it so you can check it out online & decide if you're happy with it. If you're not happy with it then worth buying a new one just for peace of mind.
Talking about poo stains. Anyone have some good idea for the horrible milk stains you get around the neck of things as not even stain remover seems to touch them. Want to sell her newborn things on eBay that she's finally grown out of but quite a lot of stuff has milk stains so unsellable.

MaMaPo · 11/04/2013 17:16

Ddas, quite a coincidence with dates! C is big for her age (around 17lb) but we're not into 6 month clothes quite yet. She was 7lb1oz at birth.

If only we had sun - not jut for poo stains, but for mental health!

Good luck with your wrist, FOD.

Oops - just been walking in the park with C and have tracked mud right through the apartment building and into our flat. Blush

halestone · 11/04/2013 17:54

Beasty, hope it works for your LO.

FOD, hope the injection works and that your LO is ok. Croop sounds awful.

Seconds will it be ok with a sheet over it? If so i'd be inclined to use it.

Ddas i mix feed as well, but only because i'm too lazy to get up and make a bottle in the nightShock

Spotty i agree i use vanish and it seems to do the trick. But then if its a big stain i just bin it. I've noticed she always seems to poo on the same vests though. Talking of poo has anyone else noticed a huge increase in the amount their LO's are pooing. H has gone from 1 every day to 4-5 a day. We're already on the 5th poo today thoughConfused

Also in better news shes now upto 4 hours sleep in one go of a night Grin then she naps on and off for the next few hours, i feel like a new women. And DP's off so we get to cuddle up again Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 17:57

This was a massive stain (more on the vest than the nappy) so I did just bin it!

Glad you're getting some sleep hales you definitely deserve it Smile

ISpyPlumPie · 11/04/2013 18:48

Blimey, only missed a couple of days and loads to catch up on. Hope all unsettled/unwell LOs are getting better and that rats are getting lost!

Another week, another tooth. N now has a pair at the bottom - the same too that popped up together with DS1, but have come up exactly a week apart this time.

Quite a busy day today. Took N to baby sensory which was lovely. As ddas (welcome back btw) says it's nice to do something just for N rather than him only tagging along to DS1's activities. Then went for a meeting in work, which N decided to contribute to with a massive poosplosion. No-one seemed bothered, but feel v guilty as in 3 years of changing bag toting it was the first time I didn't have a spare vest. Luckily I did have trousers and a top, and the office is v warm but felt so bad at his little belly poking out like a darts player Blush

IsThatTrue · 11/04/2013 18:49

For future poo, rub shampoo on it then wash as normal straight away. Don't ask me why but it works.

Upset baby, tired mummy.

Can meet anytime, Fridays easier than Mondays but neither too much of a problem.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 11/04/2013 19:21

I've not caught up yet, but one word - TEETH

We've had tantrums and tears, tonnes of dribble, red cheeks, temperatures and an ear-splitting shriek that took calpol, calgel, ibuprofen and the outside of a calypo to calm. I'm fucked exhausted and DP goes on a stag do tonight til Monday. The diet may need to go on hold Wine

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 19:36

Ds is wide eyed and not looking to go to sleep Hmm think I'll just go up with him in a minute and lay down and feed him to sleep. I'm pretty tired too! Dp is with him atm

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 19:39

Oh WillYou that sounds awful. Have you tried the granules? Ambesol (liquid not gel) ummm oh keep your teething gel in the fridge. Amber necklace? (Never tried one but my sister swears by them...

MaMaPo · 11/04/2013 19:40

Hell yes, willyou, who needs diets at a time like this? Has the tooth come through yet? C has a very bright white dot on her gum; thought it was a tooth but it seems too central. Could be a cyst? Not really bothering her.

My husband is off on a stag do next week from Thurs-Sun. We are the best partners in the world, to let them go like this.

MaMaPo · 11/04/2013 19:40

Night night spotty, sleep well! C went down suspiciously easily tonight...

SpottyTeacakes · 11/04/2013 20:30

Phew he's asleep.... He was all smiles and coos!

IsThatTrue · 11/04/2013 20:39

Yay spotty

We do not have smiles and cooing. We have a grumpy boy who wants to use mummy as a dummy, ho hum!
