New thread for us ladies

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MaMaPo · 10/04/2013 15:12

Yeah, Clarella, it's with a friend who has lots of experience with kids. I have no qualms leaving C, except if I can't be sure that she will be able to feed if she needs to. I'd be able to do bedtime, it's just the evening feed (if she wakes; that's quite new).

HoneyMumandSon · 10/04/2013 16:08

Crap- can measles just be spread by direct contact with someone who has it? DH's colleague's daughter has just been diagnosed with it- could it have been carried by people who aren't effected cos of having been vaccinated?

Stacks · 10/04/2013 16:16

Don't think so Honey transfer is through mucous drops direct from infected person to a person without immunity. So coughs and sneezes. If you're immune you can't create the infected mucous to pass on again. Does that make sense?

HoneyMumandSon · 10/04/2013 16:19

Yes it does. Thanks stacks just you hear measles and panic!

IsThatTrue · 10/04/2013 16:50

The rat man has been and left traps. We have rats :( I hardly slept a wink. Ended up bringing DS in with me for my piece of mind, he couldn't have cared less! Lol

DS has a cough/cold, it's making him very sicky, which is really mucousy :( poor boy

Barbeasty · 10/04/2013 17:01

IsThat DD went through a short phase of wearing socks to bed so the mice didn't eat her feet. We didn't have mice then. But I still curl the corner of the duvet under my feet because I didn't want mice nibbling my toes when I was about 4.

Stacks · 10/04/2013 17:16

I grew up in a council house which went through several infestations of mice. We'd see them all the time, even found a baby mouse on my school shoes once. None of us ever had our toes nibbled, or feared it. For some reason though I would be worried about a baby and rats, so totally understand you wanting LO in with you!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 17:42

Nightmare afternoon. Had a drs appointment for dd at four. We didn't get in until five by that time ds had been screaming for half an hour and screamed through the whole appointment. Then the chemist dh don't even have the bloody prescription. Got home at 5:20 and managed to keep ds asleep in his car seat and rustle up tuna pasta salad in ten minutes. Bet ds doesn't go to bed now. Might leave his bedtime until 7:30 tonight...

WLmum · 10/04/2013 19:03

beasty that is so cute!
honey the measles thing is v scary - I keep checking T for a rash as she has conjunctivitis which is one of the symptoms.

I'm trying to cram feed T tonight in the run up to bed to try for a better night - not that hopeful but worth a try. Think I'm just going to have to get used to sleeping with her latched on like when she was new. Would rather not but last 2 nights have been crazy.

WLmum · 10/04/2013 19:05

Little monkey is so sleepy in the day time - she seems to have gone nocturnal again. :-(

WLmum · 10/04/2013 19:07

And the little beast gave a lovely laugh for my friend today just because she looked on the pram! Do you know how hard dp and I work for a giggle?!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 19:12

We still haven't had a giggle Sad beginning to think there's something wrong.

WL is she reverse cycling?

MaMaPo · 10/04/2013 19:42

My little monkey is finally in bed - she went down very fast, I am all suspicious. Of course, this would be one night when my husband's boss is being an arsehole and he still hasn't left yet. I'm starving!

Spotty, I'm sure nothing is wrong. Do you get social smiles? C laughs a little bit, mostly when she's very tired, and even then it's not a long laugh, more of an 'aha'. It doesn't last very long - something that makes her laugh will do so about 3 times and then she's bored.

FriendofDorothy · 10/04/2013 20:05

Well The Little Mister had fed for about an hour up till bedtime and has just had a massive 50 minute feed before he went to bed. Bonkers!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 20:07

Yeah he's really smiley... I don't feel like anything his wrong and he gurgles just no giggles yet Hmm

HoneyMumandSon · 10/04/2013 20:12

spotty we haven't had giggles yet either. Maybe we just have serious babies!

Put D down in his cot in his own room tonight Confused eeeep

WLmum · 10/04/2013 20:12

spotty I wouldn't worry at all, as pidj said ages ago its just finding the thing that they find funny. T laughed tonight at DH singing a silly song to her. She's not particularly smiley - she does obviously but I think she'll be quite serious like dd1 was. Just different personalities. I think dd2 was the smiliest but didn't laugh as much as dd1.

WLmum · 10/04/2013 20:13

Wow honey. I'm going to wait a bit before putting her in her own room, certainly until the nights settle down again.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 20:16

Hmm he is really smiley, DP especially gets smiles all the time and he smiles at his toys and dd....

I was a serious baby, my mum has no photos of me smiling!

Eek Honey! Hope it goes well, are you hoping for more sleep? Are you looking forward to having your own space again and not having to creep into bed (that's what I hate and dp is like a hippo rolling about in the bed)

Clarella · 10/04/2013 20:25

good luck.honey!

mamapo I'm sorry you're having such a bad day hun (noticed on Nov) Sad. some days it all gets on top of us. is there a predictable ish time for waking? our new wake up is 2 hours after bed - could she hover and be ready with the bottle? does feeding knock lo out? g only thinks of his tummy (takes after his dad) and actually takes bottles better at night.

we've only had a couple of short giggles but more aha ish. he gets quite shy when he wants to laugh!

HoneyMumandSon · 10/04/2013 20:31

As D is almost 6 months and disturbing himself hitting the sides of the Moses basket we decided it was time. Got the angelcare monitor under him and our ears glued to the unit

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 20:38

I'm sure he'll be fine honey. Hopefully he will sleep a bit better for you

utopian99 · 10/04/2013 20:48

Just got back on the train! Absolutely crazy busy day, but have met the plumber at both Brailsford and Burton Road, touched up paint at the former, tidiedw enough to allow two of our previous tenants to rent it, dropped keys for Brailsford with estate agents and picked up a parcel from the post office. Oz has been fantastic throughout and is currently asleep in the sling again - long may he remain this helpful!

Off to catch up on thread now..

MaMaPo · 10/04/2013 21:01

Clarella, my husband is in the bedroom right now trying to feed C with a bottle, before she's woken up and when I'm not in the room. It will be 2 hours since she went down. Everything crossed please.

Sorry for ranting all over MN but I have found today particularly tough. I have been so angry!

honey, good luck to D tonight! Hopefully he sleeps like a baby angel.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/04/2013 21:02

Hmm I can hear ds already Sad I hope he goes back to sleep it's only been two bloody hours...
