Try this one

Thewalkingdeadkr · 29/10/2013 19:09

2nd place is good. Thanks american.
Come on girls (although tee is lovely and has a great name)

Thewalkingdeadkr · 30/10/2013 08:55

Yay joint second, thanks girls.

ILovePonyo · 01/11/2013 19:57

Well done ledkr :)

Hope everyone is well. A has had her first day at nursery without a nap Shock she went in pre school all day with the bigger kids for "a treat" - I imagine it was really due to staffing and having too many children in her room and not enough in pre school Wink - and she didn't want a nap, and hah basically been manic since we got home, and is still not asleep!! She's playing upstairs bellowing at me from time to time Hmm and doing her abc which goes "abcdefg, hijk memememempeeeeee" Grin so she's been awake for a solid 13 and a half hours now.

Reastie · 01/11/2013 21:03

Yay ledkr that's great, so did you win the prize if there was a joint second?

ponyo she's going to just crash eventually, surely? Alice has given up on naps completely for a while now I miss the time to myself but tbh it's easier as I don't have to take her out in the buggy every day to get her to sleep - can't believe I did that for over 2 blinking years!

Right, off to bed here. Bit of a misery guts as was poorly ill last week, better for all of 3 days and now have a sore throat and coming down with something else. Lovely half term ! In fab news I went shopping today and bought a size 12 pair of jeggings do they still count if they have an elasticated waist and even so are still a bit too tight? . Size 12 [proud]. I just had to repeat that to myself to make it real!

Is it this week end that's princessofchinas wedding? If it is congrats and can't wait to see the piccies choc.

wigglesrock · 01/11/2013 21:48

reastie of course it still counts Smile , congrats! Hope you're feeling better - are you back to school on Monday? It's funny when you think back to all the things you used to do with the babies have still not got over the fact that Olivia didn't sleep for 36 months Shock

I think it's the wedding weekend, if you're lurking PrincessOfChina have a brilliant time & if not this weekend then still plenty of time to bridezilla Wink

ponyo there's no way back to naps now Smile

ledkr still think you were robbed!

Quiet mid term break here - Liv still on the mend slowly. She was at the cinema today - she hadn't been out for 10 days - she wasn't allowed yesterday with Sofia & her friends we paid for that, dirty looks all round. Mr W can heartily recommend Cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 Smile

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, weather's turned mingy here.

I was wasn't I wiggs
Dills have her nap up a few weeks ago but still has a lie down and a bottle (gasp) it's a long old day tho.
She gets very bored. Keeps asking for swimming so I often run her a deep bath which she loves.
Went trick or treating last night in a gang, with wine.
Kids loved it and dilly just loved the concept of knocking on doors and being given sweets for no apparent reason.
She kept shouting "Halloween" she struggles with "thankyou" so was signing so everyone thought she was deaf and gave her extra ha ha
Size 12 reastie that's great well done.
I'd like to shift a bit more now, remind me how u do it.
How's deb I miss her.

Reastie · 03/11/2013 18:40

Thanks wiggles and ledkr. Ledkr no trick really, I'm doing insanity workout 3 times a week and being relatively careful about eating. I say relatively as I've been rubbish this past week. I'm paranoid I'm going to put it back on though Confused

Gah, having been better from my poorly ill bug last week I had 3 whole days of health and now I have a headcold

americanexpat · 04/11/2013 18:03

Bloody hell, Reastie, do you have any good drugs to get you through? Head colds are horrible, not being able to breathe properly. I've been sick loads this year and don't faff about anymore, just go straight for the good decongestant.

I'm very close to joining a gym again but it kills me to spend the money because I'm very tight-fisted thrifty. I'm not exercising though and the weight keeps creeping on. I find it very easy to lose when I'm burning loads of calories at the gym.

L loved trick or treat, he keeps asking to go again. Grin He was very sad when I told him we had to wait until next year. He got the hang of it very quickly - "they give me candy!" Grin Sadly I've eaten most of his sweets. [reconsiders cost of gym]

Reastie · 04/11/2013 18:19

american Grin to reconsidering cost of gym at trick or treating sweets. I can recommend x train fit for an easier workout dvd and insanity is amazing - I don't think I've ever been as fit as I am now and I only do it 3 times a week max (it is hard though). It would be chaper than a gym Grin . I actually have a bit of muscle in places I didn't know I could get muscle but it is hidden below a fair amount of flab still . I've been on only inhalations for this dratted headcold as I don't know if I can take decongestants as I still bf Alice in the evening and I get paranoid about what I can and can't take and Blush to go to the pharmacist and say I'm bfing DD as it's quite old to still be doing it and I get worried about any odd glances I have had a few

americanexpat · 04/11/2013 20:47

reastie - Have a look at this list if you don't want to speak to the pharmacist. I'd recommend a neti pot, though it takes some getting used to. I was so congested a few months ago that nothing would flow through my sinuses. Shock

I'll admit that I'm really rubbish at exercising at home, find it really difficult to make the effort. Especially now that L's bedtime in 9 Hmm and he won't let DH put him to bed if I'm home. If I decide I'm going to a class at a set time, I'll go. I'm still dithering about spending the money but I have to do something.

Reastie · 04/11/2013 20:59

Thanks american, that's really useful. I'm going to hunt out a nose spray tomorrow to help

ILovePonyo · 08/11/2013 21:27

Hello all,

Reastie well done losing so much weight, that's amazing! Maybe all of the walking A to sleep to get her to nap helped ;)

American I do 3 classes a week at the gym now, I was going to the actual gym but found it boring and I don't think it was making a difference as I wasn't trying very hard Doing these classes has helped I think, and for the first time this week someone at work has asked if I've lost weight, woohoo! I think seeing as A's bedtime is late too anyway (she goes to sleep anytime between 8 and 9 Hmm) I think I may as well be exercising between 5ish and 6ish rather than sat on the settee! I too am rubbish at exercising at home.

Ledkr Grin at D shouting Halloween! Someone knocked on the door last night and A got very excited and started shouting trick or treat, it was only th bin cleaner man collecting his money :)

I have an AIBU. A's nursery are doing a trip to a big farm/park in dec, limited spaces, they're hiring 2 mini buses to go. They gave us the letter about it and they're asking for £14 for the trip. The more dp and I talked a outfit the more pissed off we got, not because of the amount but because we pay a lot of money (nearly all of my wages) every month and they're still asking for £14, it's a private nursery they're making a fair bit of profit. When I worked for a charity we did a similar trip for a load of young parents including hiring a coach and just asked for a £2 donation. So we're not sending A (it's not compulsory) and I told the manager this morning were not happy about. Opinions please?!

Scuse slightly me me me post Blush :)

ILovePonyo · 08/11/2013 21:28

*about it not outfit Hmm

Reastie · 09/11/2013 08:48

ponyo I'm Hmm but also not at all surprised about the trip cost. All I can think to substantiate it is the additional to normal cost of the entrance to the farm park/coach/driver and do they need a higher adult to child ratio on trips to pay for? FWIW I work in a private school and we are told all trips MUST now make a profit for the company who own the school Hmm so every trip we run (including the holidays) have about 10% added which is for nothing other than more money in their kitty. The charity you worked for may have had discounted coaches??

wigglesrock · 09/11/2013 09:06

ponyo I think it's very dear - I know insurance is wild for hiring buses but £14 is still much much more than any trip I've paid for the girls in school. Insurance is much more expensive here as well & school trips aren't funded out of the schools allocated funding here, so parents pay & PTA money is used if it's there.

Olivia went back to school yesterday & I got a note saying they'd been able to get cheaper tickets to one of the pantos. It's £10 for ticket & transport. Olivias nursery school used to walk to the library for their school trip & the Fire Brigade used to visit Smile

ILovePonyo · 09/11/2013 10:09

Hm interesting. Maybe the nursery have been told similar to your school then reastie, they have to make a profit? Which I am also Hmm about! Wink
If A was at school and that was the cost of a trip it would be fine, it's the fact that we pay already.
I know they don't have to pay for the staff going into the farm.
When I did the trip reastie I don't know if we got it discounted, we probably did.
Wiggles £10, that is a bargain!

I'll keep you updated anyway after I take A back to nursery on mon Wink

americanexpat · 11/11/2013 16:43

Ponyo - I would be Hmm as well. I think it's OTT if they're pricing it to make a profit - extra money on top of the profit they're already making. Hmm L's nursery has a "sporty" class every Monday - but it's $40/month for 45 minutes once a week. Shock I feel a bit guilty about not wanting to pay for it but it's very dear considering what it is. Some of the older classes take fieldtrips but it's usually only $3-$5. I know it's only going to get worse when he's in school.

ILovePonyo · 11/11/2013 20:41

No news from nursery today! It's just started hasn't it american, another mum at nursery today was telling me that now her dd's in preschool they have swimming lessons during the day, but you pay per term and it's about £80-£100 per term for a 20 minute lesson per week! Aaagh.

Though I suppose when they're at school I'll only be paying for after school club, phew.

A has got cheeky all of a sudden! Well, cheekier :) She has developed a very rude tone of voice which makes her sound like a Mardy teenager that I've had to pull her up on a few times, and at nursery today they told me she has been bossing the smaller children and told one to "use your manners!" In a very indignant tone Hmm

Reastie I've been reading your Xmas thread, it's fab! Got some good ideas from The long first post. Thanks!

flusteredmumto2 · 14/11/2013 13:29

Hello ladies just a catch up whilst having a dvd and duvet day with the youngest one thats a little bit ill.
I don't know which of you nominated me for the mumsnet secret santa but a huge thank you is due, I may have cried a little.
So, I've had all the tests and now am hopefully completely clear of cancerous cells after having most of my cervix removed. Never have I been so scared in my life can't say it's the nicest of procedures but I'm never missing a smear again.

Think we've all settled into a routine now between nursery, school and college. Its definitely hard work trying to juggle everything but we're getting there. I even got a distinction on my 1st assignment. I'll be applying to uni by the end of the month. I'm applying to bristol and wolverhampton so will let fate decide where we end up.

Wine and Cake for all

Grannyapple · 15/11/2013 09:14

flustered glad to hear you're cancer free...such a relief! My mum had cervical cancer so can only imagine what you're going through...but needless to say, sis & I never miss one as a result!

Hope LO recovers soon...& & fab news on your coursework! Sounds like you're thriving at it...what's the course again?

Off to finish packing..off back home to Glasgow tomorrow..think we're heading off about 5am (dreading the long drive to be honest)..so I need to be organised with the two kids so we can all get to our kip early tonight!

Ledkr · 15/11/2013 18:46

flustered I'm so glad you were nominated and ashamed I didn't think of it! I know where you are with getting cancer free. It's great news but you still feel scared and shell shocked. How are you feeling physically? Big op I'm guessing?
Hope all is well with everyone.
Found out yesterday dilly needs hearing aids for a bit to help with speech. Bit gutted but so proud of her as well she's such a trooper she's doing ballet and music and does really well at them, she's on a show with Ella at Xmas so I'm really exited. Ella is also doing local panto do we are up to our eyes with rehearsals here!

Ledkr · 15/11/2013 18:48

reastie how's deb? Pass on my love to her and the kids will you,

flusteredmumto2 · 15/11/2013 19:36

Still waiting for the all clear but not having heard anything I'm taking it as no news is good news. I'm chasing them next week as DP keeps nagging, bless him I think hes been more worried than me he was there for it all. I had a cone biopsy under local anaesthetic so they took quite a large amount. I was very sore afterwards but was back to normal after a couple of days.

I'm studying community studies and social policy with the hope of studying criminology and sociology at uni. Had my 2nd assignment feedback today and I achieved a merit. I was only a couple of marks off a distinction and if I hadn't of typed the whole thing on my phone I probably wouldve got a distinction. I am really enjoying it. I'm amazed I'm actually going for my dream sometimes its really surreal.

Reastie · 17/11/2013 18:30

ledkr I have posted a message to deb and she said she would come on and say hello. Princessofchina and americanexpat and I think ems came on too to wave/say hello. Deb always looks very happy and busy according to fb, lots of yummy homemade food being consumed at the deb household and lots of fun being had. She's looking fab too.

flustered that's lovely being nominated, you deserve it with everything you've been through. Let me know what mumsnet father christmas brings you. I was also nominated Blush . I'm assuming it's someone from the bargain threads giving me some thanks, I feel like I don't deserve it but it's so lovely to think someone actually nominated me. Wish I knew who it was! Sounds like you're super busy at the minute. When do you find which uni you've got into?

Went shopping today for an outfit for works christmas party and couldn't find ANYTHING. I just have no idea what suits/works on me anymore and my wardrobe is useless. Posted in S&B about it.

Granny how's Glasgow? Give blizy a big wave Wink and hope you don't get snowed in!

Ponyo love the cheeky Anya! For some random reason Alice has been calling DH 'darling' all day today. Every time she says it I giggle! We don't ever use that expression so think she's got it from DM or MIL. It sounds so funny from her though.
