Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

MrG please tell me you're not still standing under the extractor?

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 13:40

Haha. I am actually! This is for a nap, though.

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 13:43

Thanks PR

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 13:53

That is very helpful, thank you YW he has just had a bf from me, and was very unsettled. I gave him a bottle, and he is grinning from ear to ear. I am not sure he was entirely convinced by the smile on my face and jolly words of encouragement, when my eyes were leaking.

My left boob has given up. He has not had a proper feed from it for a couple of weeks now. He feeds on it at night when he tends to only need a snack, and I am now having to give him the other one too. My right boob is sore through overuse, as he is feeding so frequently. Probably trying to up supply? I don't know, and I don't care any more. He has been having 3 bottles a week. He is going to have two a day, and more as and when I feel ready. I will still feed morning and night.

I will keep feeding as much as he wants until the jabs are passed (tomorrow) and he has recovered fully. If he gets a reaction to the milk, then at least it will make it easier to diagnose and treat. He has had quite a bit though, and there have been no obvious signs of a reaction, and I would think if it were severe then it would give a quick clear reaction. I have eaten more cheese these last few days as my mum has fed me lunch and she is a cheese fiend. At this stage I am not prepared to go to the lengths you have YW and I do not feel bad about that. He is 20 weeks, I have done fucking well as it has been fucking hard, and I have two other children to consider too. If he were a matter of a few weeks old I would probably feel different.

I will need more than two bottles though I think. I will get him drinking from a cup ASAP as I hate buying fucking bottles!

'Waiter, there is a man in my quiche!' Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 13:58

Pkz good news re the smile. My paed says to use smiles as indicators of wellbeing. Sounds obvious really but when they can't communicate it helps.

In case they haven't explained it basically phlegm from the cold has worked its way down into part of the respiratory system and they aren't strong enough to stop it, or get it out on their own by coughing. The inhaler is opening up the airways to allow them to work better, and extra oxygen in hospital if needed will do the same. Basically the phlegm has settled and is stopping LO from breathing properly. It's a virus so doesn't respond to antibiotics, or anything really other than anything which can be done to clear the path for the phlegm to bugger off. It is frightening though, and when they cough their food up often loads of phlegm comes up too. Which is good - better out than in - but horrible to deal with.

I'm sure Pig or one of the other people with medical knowledge will correct me or give you more info if you need it.

You should watch out too as the cold I had when my two got so ill turned into very nasty bronchitis. RSV is a bastard.

Luis I assume your baby is napping under the extractor. Or have you got so used to it you need it for your afternoon naps?

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 13:58

Not my 'love quiche' though.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 14:00

pr I think you have explained it better than anybody could. I also got a chest infection after J got bronchifuckinglitis.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 14:01

VQ you've done brilliantly. Lots of admiration for all you ebf'ers and mix feeders actually. Even if I had enjoyed it there is no way I'd have had the patience to deal with those cluster feeds.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 14:02

Bastard fucking RSV. I wonder if when horsey is done killing cancer if she can move on to RSV.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/03/2013 14:03

Afternoon fuckwits.

vq having given up on trying to read everything people had written too much, the waiter comment made me chuckle!

Had a v good night in chateau pig - bed at 7.45, feed at 2.30 then up at 6.30 to take dh into work Shock. Could get used to this.

contra my house is a total shitpit. Got back from the supermarket earlier to a scene of chaos - have attempted to clean up some of it as F is asleep in her car seat (miracle, as she usually wakes up as soon as the car stops moving). pr our cat also likes to deposit bodily fluids in inappropriate locations have washed the fucking armchair 3 times now in as many months. When we moved house, and pulled out everything under our bed, there was a pile of crusty cat vom right in the middle [vom emoticon]

Got the botty dimple looked at, as well as a funny lump by her belly button. Dimple = nothing to worry about, lump = small hernia or funny bit of fat Hmm - but nothing to worry about. So paranoid mummy can be locked away again for the time being.

pikz so sorry to hear your LO is poorly, fc things improve quickly
eliza crack open the Wine Grin

kissyfur · 13/03/2013 14:05

Glad it sweary Wednesday!
Fucking shit day here, LO won't feed. Not fed since 8am. Screams and screams when I try and feed her, I suspect a reflux flare up, had a tiny bit of chilli in my dinner last night so guessing that's what caused it.
It's heartbreaking to see her scream like she is doing and I can't even comfort her by feeding her SadSad

Scared she's going to get dehydrated, what can I do ladies? seriously considering moving to formula

Going to try catch up now

BigPigLittlePig · 13/03/2013 14:06

Cluster feeds have fucked off from our house about bloody time

V well explained pr. I should point out I am a font of knowledge on all things adult, but it is quite some time since I did a limited amount of paeds, which means I can retain enough information to cause me to shit my pants over potential nasties (see recent case of botty dimple), but not enough to be of any practical use whatsoever.

YellowWellies · 13/03/2013 14:08

VQ I'd guess given how well he reacts to the bottle that its not CMPI - you'd expect a worse reaction to FF than to BM. If it is CMPI there are formulas you can use if you're not able to make the diet changes (it would be v tricky if also cooking for kids) but don't introduce dairy to him until about one. I'm still loving feeding J and given he seems to have soy issues too - don't really want to move him to the amino acid formula as it can have odd side effects - so changing my diet works best for us as its only for a finite period. But there's no one size fits all. There will be a solution perfect for casa Valium xx

fruitpastilles · 13/03/2013 14:12

Pikz I really hope LO doesn't get admitted, fingers crossed for you!
I wonder how today's meet is going? I'm rather jealous I must admit! We need to get a midlands one sorted!!
S is fast asleep on me and I'm catching up on last nights eastenders. Have done 2 loads of washing, prepped dinner, vacuumed the whole house an cleaned the bathroom. I feel like I've achieved something today!

TooManyDicksOnTheDancefloor · 13/03/2013 14:12

Really sorry to heat about the bastard bronchilitis pikz, let's hope he kicks it's sorry ass soon.

Great news eliza, so glad you're getting out.

Right, sweary Wednesday. I've managed to break the fucking dishwasher, aaargh! Pulled the handle too hard and cracked the front where the buttons are, stupid design. It still works but is a bit delicate, DH is going to kill me.

B is still producing dark green slime instead of poo. I'm having to change her nappy every hour and she waked up having been after every nap and at night, so her bum is getting sore. Should I take her to the doctors or will they laugh at me? She's fine other than that, quite happy and sleeping well (sorry quiche). Any advice much appreciated.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 14:19

Pig you don't happen to know anything about proton pump inhibitors do you?

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/03/2013 14:25

pilkz oh fuck, I'm so sorry! I'm sending feeding thoughts your way and really hope you're not admitted. Fuck off broncilities ( or however the cunting thing is spelt!).

We are still here as the admin shit is still being done. They've only known for 28hrs that we are going home. Sorry I shouldn't moan, just getting fucking frustrated.

vq you've done amazingly well. Give yourself a pat on the back and stop being so hard on yourself.

kissyfur · 13/03/2013 14:26

Oh pikz sorry to hear that, hope LO makes a swift recovery

Pikz · 13/03/2013 14:27

Ah thank you PR I was struggling with the virus vs broncholitis bit at the docs.

VQ you have been to hell and back with feeding and stuck with it for 20 weeks. Whatever decision you make will be perfect for PV. You are a legend for getting to here. Give yourself a break.

Pikz · 13/03/2013 14:41

PR or VQ what's the best way to help night time sleeping? He's been waking self up in cot as struggling to breathe. He is napping in pushchair on a slight angle at mo

BigPigLittlePig · 13/03/2013 14:54

pr I know a few bits and bobs about them...do you have a heart burning question?

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 14:55

If you can tilt the mattres of the cot? A rolled up towel underneath the mattress at head end should do it. I was advised by the physio to use a humidifier so I bought one. A bowl of hot water is a good replacement if you don't have one.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 15:05

Ha ha. I've been on them for almost two years since nsaid ulcers burnt their way through my stomach and kicked an artery's arse. GP says I can come off them but when I do I get acid. He says I have an acid problem and might need surgery but I read somewhere that extra acid production is a symptom of withdrawal. He doesn't believe me so I've been referred back to my specialist for a gastroscopy. Ugh. Just wondering if you have any gems I can use to back up my theory. I don't want unecessary surgery. Have yet to take appointment with consultant due to lack of time and nothing to do with my hatred of gastroscopies having had 6 in a short space of time

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 15:07

Have self weaned myself down to half dose with no ill effects. It's when I go cold turkey...
