Instead of marking place, please could those of us with older siblings post something (positive) they are looking forward to as our babies get older. I think it would cheer us up since so many are struggling at the moment.

VQ i would agree that your J is a hungry baby. Although the other babies did feed quite a bit too. My J was the odd one with only one feed while we were there, and even then he wasnt asking for one i just thoughtnid better offer since it had been almost 4hours!

Well another not great night was had here. Big feed and down for 11. Awake and feeding at 12.25am. In cot at 12.45 asleep, then he woke at 1.15am. Managed to calm him down with no boob. Then he went back to sleep about 1.30am then awake at 4am for a feed and then awake at 6.30am, calmed with no boob and slept or was at least quiet til 7.30am. Then was happy ish awake til I got DD ready and he fed at 8.20am! So....maybe 7hours sleep in total at a push! Better than the night before I suppose which was 5.5 hrs.

Pikz · 13/03/2013 10:25

Woohoo Eliza fab news

Sorry sweet pea that your not feeling any better. Hope baby group is good.

Off to docs at 11ish, L so bunged up and off his food, very out of breath, finally sleeps from exhaustion and only on me Hmm screams and grabs his ears Hmm how can colds go on for this long.

Catbag · 13/03/2013 10:39

So, back from baby clinic. S is 13lb 3(25th centile) and R is 14lb 8 (50th centile). She is a beast :)

tits I sympathise. All of a sudden R has started needing to be with me constantly. If I turn to leave the room, she sobs until I return. I am not used to a daughter doing this. Normally they don't give two hoots. My boys are the mummy-centric ones Confused

luis Morning! Hope you got some sleep :)

Catbag · 13/03/2013 10:40

Ooo, almost forgot! Congrats eliza, so happy you are getting out of there!

Catbag · 13/03/2013 10:43

pr Someone lent me the box set of The Wire. I only watched two episodes and then had to give it back cos I wasn't getting time to watch it. Thought it looked good though. Your morning sounds like it has been a bit shit (no pun intended). From such an inauspicious start, it can only improve hopefully

Lily311 · 13/03/2013 11:12

Not sure who mentioned the movement monitor. I love ours. It's easy to set it up and you get used to switching it on and off. I have the monitor by my bed during the night and by the door during the day so I can hear it wherever I am (although I'm in a one bed flat at the moment).

Good news Eliza, hope you are already at home.

Those of you in cloth nappies, what do you use during the night? I have Lollipop bamboos for night but they get so wet. Also do you find that it's nearly impossible to put little ones in trousers if you use a 2 part nappy? Or Am I doing something wrong? I use Lollipop pop'n gro during the day, I love them but only have 5 so sometimes I have to use bamboos or fleece ones which has the wraps. They are just so bulky. Any advice appreciated.

Kyzordz · 13/03/2013 11:15

Grr! Wrote a message and it got fucking lost! Yay eliza that's brill! :D Can't remember what else i wanted to say, think it was something about the wanking hoover being broken, and that i got david bowie and bon jovi's new cds for mothers day so am giving them a listen. It was quite a long message too, fuckballs. Never bastarding mind, need to hoover the house with the broken cunting hoover anyway!!

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 11:20

311 pocket nappies for day. I recommend eBay cheapies. Alvababy are good. I get the ones that are £3.99 with free postage. One size, wash and dry quickly. Slim fitting. Cool prints. Delivery takes a while. I buy from bestclothdiapers I think. I use disposables at night as have still not made my fleece liners. Fleece liners help prevent baby bum getting so wet. I like fleece wraps too. The Alva ones are pretty good as wraps too.

izzy not bad for second night IMO. I think you are both doing really well.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 13/03/2013 11:49

I am glad it is sweary Wednesday. Can I just say thank FUCK for calpol and Bonjela. That is all.

sweetpea1112 · 13/03/2013 11:51

Madam Calpol and bonjela are the only things preventing O from being put on eBay today. Fucking teeth.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 12:03

Teeth are an issue here too. Blood on grow he had been chewing, gel applied and not quite so whingy. Still a grumpy little fucker. Who will not fucking nap!!!

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 12:08

Any sign of YW today? Hope you are ok. There was a definite YW and Jonas shaped hole in our meet yesterday x dreadful hearing more about the tragedy near you, but thank God the weans were spared, even though they are orphans, at least they will have get to live. Poor little Violet finding her mummy Sad it must be horrid being so near. Big hug xxx

YellowWellies · 13/03/2013 12:09

Afternoon fuckbadgers! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. We are going out (with our plague bell). The plague seems to be lifting slightly - though the bear is still emotional and wanting to be mummy's new clutch bag!

Glad to hear the meet went well. VQ if you're stilling umming and hawing about silent reflux - such frequent feeds (Jonas only feeds that frequently when he's poorly and his reflux flares up - but he fed like that before meds) could be symptomatic of comfort feeding? If it is, I would expect him to fall a few centiles and go longer between feeds once he's not using your boobies as Rennie tablets. If you're still wondering maybe chat to the HV? Yip l know I'm a one track record about reflux!

Last night was OK 10 til 4 and 5 til 9. Would have had an earlier night had DH not been trying to learn how to cut baby nails and flapping like an old woman

Just found out from my step mum that my dad has suspected Alzheimer's Sad he's a bit useless as a parent but I'm still Shock

sweetpea1112 · 13/03/2013 12:12

VQ I am lucky that O will at least nap. He muchs prefers that to being awake today. Always a grumpy bugger on baby group days. Hmm

YellowWellies · 13/03/2013 12:13

Anbesol rocks for teething. First whinge on it goes. He smiles now when he sees the bottle.

Awwww VQ you missed the ranty whinger? Am touched. Was going to wear my yellow wellies too Grin. Was gutted to miss it Sad

Pikz · 13/03/2013 12:31

Fuck fuck fucking broncholitis. If he doesn't start eating by this afternoon we are being admitted :(

Just spent half hour on machine.. Inhalers every 4 hours at home... If no improvement by 5pm being admitted :(

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 12:40

I still wonder about silent reflux YW now he has a bottle most evenings, I wonder if Gaviscon in it might help? I want to give up bf today as I am fucking fed up of feeding so often and him seeming upset by it. I think he is comfort eating. He is usually such a good baby. He only gets upset if he has a reason to. I will not give up feeding though. I am going to give him a bottle when he wakes and see how he is after that. I feel my milk is hurting him at the moment. The fact he is teething would mean it would be worse too.

He has his jags tomorrow so I can see a dr too. Should I just go straight for ranitadine and bypass the Gaviscon? I find it shocking that detective has had the fight she has had, and feel that they will yet again think I am a neurotic mum and fob me off.

ValiumQueen · 13/03/2013 12:45

Oh fuck pikz Sad fuck fuck fuck!!! Not fair! Do take some comfort though that he is older and hopefully will get through it better. Big big hug for you x

garden I would urge you to get a telephone consultation with your Dr. Or could you get a lift? I am concerned that any infection could get a good grip and be harder to treat. You have not had much luck health wise since the birth, and could really do with avoiding more complications. Having two babies to care for is double the physical effort x

Kyzordz · 13/03/2013 13:02

oh pikz :( thinking of you and your little man :(

YellowWellies · 13/03/2013 13:25

VQ as he does take a bottle on a night you could try gaviscon - but I'd be tempted to use the line about it being difficult to administer to BF babies and push for ranitidine and omeperazole. I'm not sure but think you have to give gaviscon with most feeds - pass you'd know better than me my dear? If you have no results on meds then it could be CMPI in which case no meds will work without diet changes. Sad sorry it sucks but there are upsides in terms of effortless weight loss Sad Sad Sad and err... a reduction in dietary saturated fat no... it just sucks.

I think Pass would agree that we've both been surprised by how Scottish doctors seem more au fait with it and we've had much less of a fight than many mums in England. Obviously there are still dinosaur GPs out there - but don't give up hope. Sadly I've not met you my dear but from here you come across as calm, sorted and v together - far from the stereotype you're worrying about.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 13:26

pikz :( that is a fucking good reason to swear on sweary Wednesday.

Bronchiolitis is an absolute bugger, as you probably know from reading our posts the last couple of months. It is very important it is treated though as you remember DD1 had it coupled with pneumonia. Don't worry though, he is no longer a newborn so it is far less dangerous - DD1 was an exceptionally bad case.

If you get admitted ask them about chest physio - LO had it from diagnosis every day for a week and it really helped. DD1 had it in hospital twice a day and again, she was breathing far better after each session. It's not used very often over there though but it is worth asking.

All they will do in hospital is give extra oxygen and do the mask treatment thing, but it really does make a difference to them. They might tube feed him for a while too.

I was told that bronchiolitis works in three stages. At the beginning it's a bit of a cough as it sets in. Then after a few days it gets worse and affects breathing and therefore eating. This stage is the hardest as they cough and cough and puke up their food, but with treatment as you are getting it is kept under control and lasts 3 to 7 days. After that it starts to get better.

If he isn't eating I assume he is in the second stage, so you're going through the worst of it. The day they find a cure or a vaccination against RSV I will be a very happy camper.

If he was eating well before then once he is better he will catch up again, don't worry about that, though of course it is horrible to see them fret and be obviously hungry.

Masses of Thanks to you. Fingers firmly crossed you don't have to go in, but if you do then he will be looked after. RSV is a common little bugger, but doesn't cause long term damage, and luckily spring is round the corner and he will have a few months before it comes round again. Once they are two apparently their respiratory system is strong enough to cope so when they catch it it's no worse than a cold and a cough.

Bronchiolitis, fuck the fuck off. This quiche has had enough of you this year.

YellowWellies · 13/03/2013 13:27

Crap cross post - oh Pikz nooooo. Look quiche just because Eliza is leaving hospital doesn't mean someone else has to go! It would be fab if we could have one day with a full squadron of healthy rug rats.

LuisGarcia · 13/03/2013 13:37

So sorry to hear about all the health problems. Must be horrible.

Can someone please explain all the quiche references?

PetiteRaleuse · 13/03/2013 13:38

Quiche is a MN term for groups of people. It was apparently someone who autocorrected clique to quiche. Or something.

Pikz · 13/03/2013 13:39

Thank you all so much. Home from docs, have got first lots of inhaler into him and 2oz of milk. We have had the first smile in 2 days. Crossing everything.

Thank you quiche and for all the explanations PR. I felt a little bamboozled at the docs.
