pikz :( that is a fucking good reason to swear on sweary Wednesday.
Bronchiolitis is an absolute bugger, as you probably know from reading our posts the last couple of months. It is very important it is treated though as you remember DD1 had it coupled with pneumonia. Don't worry though, he is no longer a newborn so it is far less dangerous - DD1 was an exceptionally bad case.
If you get admitted ask them about chest physio - LO had it from diagnosis every day for a week and it really helped. DD1 had it in hospital twice a day and again, she was breathing far better after each session. It's not used very often over there though but it is worth asking.
All they will do in hospital is give extra oxygen and do the mask treatment thing, but it really does make a difference to them. They might tube feed him for a while too.
I was told that bronchiolitis works in three stages. At the beginning it's a bit of a cough as it sets in. Then after a few days it gets worse and affects breathing and therefore eating. This stage is the hardest as they cough and cough and puke up their food, but with treatment as you are getting it is kept under control and lasts 3 to 7 days. After that it starts to get better.
If he isn't eating I assume he is in the second stage, so you're going through the worst of it. The day they find a cure or a vaccination against RSV I will be a very happy camper.
If he was eating well before then once he is better he will catch up again, don't worry about that, though of course it is horrible to see them fret and be obviously hungry.
Masses of
to you. Fingers firmly crossed you don't have to go in, but if you do then he will be looked after. RSV is a common little bugger, but doesn't cause long term damage, and luckily spring is round the corner and he will have a few months before it comes round again. Once they are two apparently their respiratory system is strong enough to cope so when they catch it it's no worse than a cold and a cough.
Bronchiolitis, fuck the fuck off. This quiche has had enough of you this year.
