I feel like I'm having a party and waiting for people to turn up. Dorito, anyone?

glad i am 101!! don't want a poo and haven't even got a bikini!! can't wear one with that flubby belly
but diet is working and i've lost 5.5 lbs in 2 weeks - so give me another 6 months and then we can talk about it

also atm i've got enough poo in this house anyways - ds had a huge one earlier in his pants

no rivalry here as such. dd just wants to be close to ds; mainly to pull his hair really
and ds, well, as soon as i give my full attention to dd he comes over, squeezes in between us and copies everything she does to get the same attention 'sigh'
quite some 'babyish' actions happening there!

kbaby · 09/07/2006 21:18

well ive gone through the ak book and written down some suggestions and a ingredients list so if I get a quiet 5 mins this week I can do some cooking.

Bozza- DD woke up last night at 1am until 3 am and every 10 mins I had 'Mummy, Mummy' when I went in I was asked for a book, milk, blankets, a nappy change and then she run out of things to ask for and I had a 'ummmmm' at which point I told her I wasnt coming back in again and to go to sleep which did the trick.

Shes started doing this wierd thing where she pretends to be a dog and sniffs you or out of the blue starts licking you! very bizarre.

Bozza · 11/07/2006 10:20

kbaby I haven't really bothered with AK for over a year now. I just cook family meals. A good idea is to buy a cooked chicken because it is very versatile - pasta and salad, into couscous with veg, potatoes and veg etc. But when I am "carving" (read, hacking) it DD always drags a chair over and tries to pinch as much as possible.

DD slept through on Saturday night - I was on a night out and staying at a friends. But was back to it on Sunday night. Just realised that she slept through last night. Was so tired (another night out) that I didn't realise until now.

helsy · 11/07/2006 14:20

Hello everyone - have been lurking occasionally but not posted.

I'm at home today with dd1 who appears to have conned a day off on the grounds of illness, judging by the laughter that's coming from the living room where she is watching the BFG. So, an enforced day off and I have to book a hotel in Boulogne as we're taking the ferry there at the end of this month.
I have to sort out passports - fast - or we won't be going at all! Dd2's passport photo is angelic -had it done at Max Spielmann as the photobooth attempt was a disaster "mummy come in the picture".

Her diet is not bad but fairly limited - she eats as much sweetcorn, carrot, yoghurt, cream cheese, ice cream, salmon, cauli, avocado and roast chicken and anything made with mince that she can get her hands on but not much else really.
Actually that sounds like a lot now I write it down. I wish she'd eat egg.

She is still tiny and the HV will refer us if she hasn't grown by the end of August.

I'm amazed at some of your toddlers saying full sentences! We get four words together mostly. She is very funny, and knows it. She did her first wee on the potty two days ago, and she got such a cheer she keeps trying again and again but doesn't quite have the hang of it.

kbaby · 13/07/2006 17:50

I think DD has inherited mine and dh's atheletic ability as today in the toddlers race at sports day she came last because she stopped half way to have a look around.

The bedtime tantrums have kicked in now. If I tell her its time to go to bed she shouts 'its not bedtime now' oh and she thinks its funny to call me aunty karen instead of mummy.

SusiS · 16/07/2006 08:16

morning!
had a great day out yesterday. took the kids to a park with playground and a pond with lots of ducks, swans and harrons
was great because there was a path all around with little landings every 5 meters or so.
lucas walked around, stepped on each landing and said 'no ducks!! let's gooooo'

had a rare social night yesterday. neighbours asked us around to a bbq and i even had some alcohol - and a quite late night for me (11.30)
but still had to get up at 6am with the kids!!

we are in the middle of potty training!! (day 17) and i am quite pleased really!
he's finally using the toilet as well (only potty so far) - and occasionally he even asks!!!!!!!! - as long as he tells me accuratly if he needs to go if i ask him that's fine with me! we'll be there eventually

it seems a bit odd to me that we are the only (!) ones potty training where ever we go?!?!?!?
i never see anyone with a potty around
ours comes with us every step

besides that he finally started doing some colouring! he really sits still for a few minutes, with his tongue between his teeth and concentrates really hard to colour the shapes
floor puzzles are a big hit here too atm.
and the obvious running, jumping, climbing, rolling, hiding ...

caitlin is doing great!
can't be bothered to roll or crawl or anything - she just wants our hands to hold on to and walk/run around! - and if none available we get a very loud protest
i am in big debate with my back to get her a walker!!
she eats like a hungry monster; yesterday she had a bit of everything: ribs, chicken, salad, chips, peas, onionring! - and loved it
and finally she's started to babble. and that all day long!!!!

how are you getting on with your little ones??

kbaby · 16/07/2006 10:00

Lovely to hear from you susis. It sounds as if things are going really well for you.

DD wasnt well on Thursday night. She woke up at 2am asking for Shrek on and when I touched her she was red hot and a temp of 39.6c. I got her out of the cot to bring her downstairs for calpol and sponging and she threw up everywhere. She was sick again each time she had water or calpol so my mum came down and together we sponged her down throughout the night with me taking her temp every 15 mins. Eventually it came down to 38c and during the day she perked up and ate toast and water. She seems fine now so it mustve just been a bug but I get so frightened everytime shes ill. I cant cope on my own and I always call my poor mum. I dont know why but having her around always reassures me and calms me down.

I took DD to the gps on thursday because she keeps complaining about her leg hurting. On wednesday she collapsed to the floor and couldnt walk properly and when she did she was limping. Shes still limping a bit now but can put weight on it fine ie shes still jumping and climbing etc. But she wants to be caried a lot more than normal. The GP said to take her back next week if shes still mentioning it and he'll send her for soem tests. I know its stupid but you read all these stories in womens magazines about bone cancer or child lukemia etc that i probably wont rest until tests have been done.

kbaby · 17/07/2006 20:48

Buggar, im panicking now as I was reading DD a book and she dug her elbow in my bump to pull herself closer. She dug it in quite a bit, the babies moving but I still cant help but worry.

Finally finished her new bedroom however, she knows she has a new bed but has decided to stay in her cot so the room is now overcrowded with a bed and a cot.

Bozza · 18/07/2006 10:38

kbaby - it sounds like you are getting to the anxious stage of pregnancy now. Really don't worry about the baby because of DD elbowing - I'm sure she'll do worse over time. I am sure it will have caused no problem. Glad that DD is over her scary bug. My friend's DS had identical problem with his leg but nothing dire ever came of it. And he is now an active 4 yo who can ride a bike without stabilisers.

Susi I used to carry the potty everywhere but have now got to the stage where I only take it certain places eg school sports day yesterday. But not into Asda or whatever. I just take DD to the toilet. You certainly sound busy with your too.

Judd I am going to be in your neck of the woods on Sunday. We have tickets for the flower show at Tatton Park.

egypt · 18/07/2006 15:08

dont worry kbaby. i crashed my car when i was preg with dd. quite badly. had an overnight stay in hosp and was even having regular mini-contractions but all was fine and she went overdue actually. its amazing hoe protected they are in there.

Bozza · 19/07/2006 11:08

at how I have spelt two!

Ponka · 21/07/2006 19:42

Kbaby, we had a bit of jabbing when I was pregnant, here and then some more when he was out! He's fine. Don't worry.

Susi, sounds like you are doing well with the potty training. Great. We have bumped into a couple of people with potties around but not many.

DS highly embarrassed me, watching me wee in a busy public toilet a few days ago.
He just suddenly said "Jake's got a willy. Daddy's got a willy. Mummy's got no willy. Mummy's hairy. See Mummy's hairy"!!! . I could have died. I didn't want to leave the toilet. Noone said anything but I got a few smirky looks.

Judd · 21/07/2006 19:50

Hello! Time for my weekly post....
Thanks for the poo in the bikini! I will place it alongside the poo in the swimming baths changing rooms and the poo in my friends tent (luckily a lovely solid little turret, so very easy to clean up). We started holidays this week, pre school broke up VERY early but we've had a good time. In fact, I took DD to M&S (saw Betty Turpin) to buy her school uniform this afternoon. You could probably spot me as a first timer as I fell for the red gingham scrunchies and the red gingham ruffled socks! Sucker but they are very very cute.
Bozza, one day we will meet up! I saw you went to St Annes on the day I was visiting my mum in Blackpool. Flower show should be lovely, and there's the little park and the farm if the children get itchy feet!
DS talks a heck of a lot and very well (not a boast, just a relieved mummy at not being faced with a second round of Ginger Bear and Mopsy Rabbit at speech therapy!) Last night I asked him to get a nappy and he said "You get the nappy mummy, I'm watching the television".
We are going to visit SIL, husband and new baby (4 weeks) on Sunday. Want to have my new baby fix without actually having a new baby!
DH has had a tres bon idea (knew he was due one ) - we are going to have a crack at Potty Training when we move into our new house just before we change the carpets. Hurrah! Our friends are lovely, kind, hilarious people.....but they do like their stuff. And their florals. So we will be doing a fair bit of decorating (DH has got loads of books out of the library, including one with Carol Vorderman on the front having her white trousers roller painted yellow by a beefy looking young tradesperson!). Do I point out to my friend the whole through which the flying ants came last Wednesday??? Do I carry through my threat to nail misbehaving children to the wall and declare them as a fixture and fitting??? Who knows.

Judd · 21/07/2006 19:52

Sorry for the abrupt ending! I suddenly realised I was boring myself, so must have been boring you
Anyway, would like to point out that I didn't mean "whole", I meant "hole".

Bozza · 21/07/2006 21:11

So Judd when is the big move planned for?

Judd · 21/07/2006 22:12

Friend whose house we are moving to originally wanted the 19th.....which was yesterday! Her solicitor has been ill and then on holiday so hasn't done much at all. I'm hoping for early August now. My friend is hyper organised and has started packing loads of stuff, so now that we have been delayed she is having to unpack and say "if we've not moved by such a date, I'll have to unpack Box C". Which is quite funny! I think it will seem more real when we've got a date - having not had a board up or anything it all seems a bit fairy tale-ish at the moment.

egypt · 22/07/2006 19:30

hello all! just sneaking on here to TELL SOMEONE!! i'm figuring its ok to tell in the virtual world although not told a soul but dh of course - .... new baby in march

in singapore! gulp

Judd · 22/07/2006 19:35

Congratulations, Egypt! Very, very pleased for you. Is the Singapore move a definite now? When does it all happen. How do you feel? (as in do you feel sick re: baby, and how do you feel re: move).

Judd · 22/07/2006 19:35

So does this mean that my move to the next street is no longer The Big Move

kbaby · 23/07/2006 09:35

Congratulations Egypt. I hope everythings goes well for you re the move and the new baby. Will you be moving soon?

DD hasnt been well again. Same thing as last week. She woke in the night was sick for about 1hour and couldnt keep calpol or water down and then eventually fell asleep again. The problem is I cant sleep knowing shes not well so stayed up all night next to her on the settee just sponging her and taking temp etc. I would love to know whats caused this twice in one week. Normally shes fairly healthy.

DD's speach is pretty good as well although shes also like a little parrot and copies everything you say to use at the most inappropriate time.
Today I told DH dont do so and so or ill kill you, obv meant in jest and today ive had to ignore DD when she keeps saying the same thing

Only 5 days left to Due date, scary to think ill be a mother of 2

egypt · 23/07/2006 19:52

oh dear kbaby, how is your dd now? you need to get your rest too.

we're not going until january - probably. certainly wont be before. think it needs to be no later really as i'm worried the huge change for dd might be tough as well as a new baby. also be good to meet some people and check out baby groups and pre-school first too!

i'd rather be having your move judd! wanna swap ?

Ponka · 23/07/2006 19:54

Wow, it's all happening on here, isn't it? House swaps (that sounds really exciting, Judd), Moving countries, new babies (Congratulations, Egypt!) and one just about to arrive (let us know when and how please, Kbaby). Good luck everyone. x

spots · 23/07/2006 20:52

woow Egypt!! congratulations very very much. Hope you are feeling well on it. And thhe big move too.... how did your mum react in the end? Does she know about the baby yet?

LOL at the embarrassing toilet talk. DD needed a bit of sex ed the other day too. I was getting out of the shower and she scrutinized me darkly.'Look at yer fan' she said (that's how she talks). and then looked down. 'Look at my fan'. cue sunny explanation from me about differences between women and girls... 'And what is Daddy's fan like?' she needed to know then. She has seen it of course, think she just needed some terminology. I felt like such a mummy in that conversation... it happens to everyone at some point I suppose.

People keep asking if we're going to have any more babies. have had the same conversation 3 times in 24 hours. Tonight I'd really rather not think about it... DH and I have been together (not ,arried ) for 10 years and far from having an opportunity even to drink a glass of wine together, let alone do something nice as a family, we spent the evening juggling weeping girls. DD1 has given up her afternoon nap and is wretched by 5.30.
(who else still sleeps in the afternoon?)
and now I am on mumsnet!

Judd · 24/07/2006 14:26

DS gave up his nap a couple of months ago, but does need to be in bed by 6.30pm. He does fare quite well without it though, but I do try and have a bit of "sit down and watch TV" time after lunch where the nap used to come.
This morning he has been a little odd. We went to Tumbletots, which he normally loves, and he refused to do anything. So I sat with a large, rather warm toddler on my knee for forty minutes whilst everybody else charged round the room, balancing stuff, rolling over and climbling. Poor old DD has to come with me as well - luckily she had some colouring to do else I would have felt really bad.
Oh boo - rest time is over, need to go and amuse....

Ponka · 24/07/2006 22:59

DS is still having his little sleep most days but does go without it occasionally.

Oh my god, it's the calm before the storm. DS1 was just breaking out into spots this evening. It looks like what I imagine chicken pox to be like. That's a fun week ahead for all if it is.

If anyone is interested, there's a picture of my DSs here on the profiles. I've been meaning to post one for a while.
