Bozza · 05/01/2007 15:34

Britax Evolva 123 Ultra It would help if I could spell link!

Ponka · 05/01/2007 19:44

Oooh. Thanks Bozza. I'll take a look at that in more detail. The only thing that concerns me is that it appears to have a 3 point harness and I think that the current safety recommendations are that they should really be in a 5 point up until they are 4. I'm going off around the net to investigate that tonight. Want to get this cracked whilst the sales are still going. It doesn't look too expensive because it would be way better than buying two seats in the long run.

Ponka · 05/01/2007 19:47

Yikes. Forgot to say. Happy Birthday, Egypt! It's today is it not?

Bozza · 05/01/2007 21:17

Actually ponka, I have had another look at it, and while it does say 3 point harness in the blurb, looking at the picture it looks to me like a bog standard five point harness just like in DD's stage 1 seats.

Ponka · 06/01/2007 20:56

It's 5 point. I've got hold of a Which? report since. That's the one we're getting. Thanks for your help. x Please excuse the slight thread diversion, everyone.

It's gone very quiet here recently. Is everyone still recovering from Christmas?

Bozza · 07/01/2007 17:05

Looks like they are ponka. Or maybe new year's resolutions to spend less time on the computer.

It's a bit rubbish of John Lewis to advertise it as 3-point when it is actually 5-point. Anyway off to check on the chicken.

Ponka · 08/01/2007 19:54

Ah well, whilst it's just us there's something I've been meaning to ask (for no particular reason other than I wondered). As you have your kids lights to come on at 7 on timers in the morning, does that mean that you never ever have a flukey lie in? I love flukey lie ins. Had one til half eight the other day. I've also been wondering whether that was you walking in the woods in the photos you posted a while back.

I'm so tired I think I'll go off to bed quite soon. DS1 has had his first ever bout of violent vomitting and diahorrea. Apparently it's going around at the moment. He was up all through the night and went through 4 sleepsuits/pyjamas and all of his spare bedding. I've washed 3 pillows today. Poor little man. He seems a bit brighter today though.

DS' current favourite question is "Where does...... come from?" or "What does ......... mean?" He asked me this week what extradition means . I guess he heard it on the news. Does anyone else find that the questions are getting harder. A standard answer of "In a factory" usually works for the first question if I'm not sure!

Bozza · 08/01/2007 21:46

Well the idea is that they are fairly dim lights so that the kids could actually sleep through them IYSWIM. DD quite often sleeps until 7.20 or so, and especially if she hasn't had a nap the night before. DS very rarely sleeps past 7 (I think 11.5 hours at nearly 6 is probably enough) but he is an angel child - he gets up, goes to the loo, doesn't flush (so as not to wake us) and then goes back into his bedroom and plays quietly. So I have had an 8 o'clock a couple of times with DS having been awake since 7. Also once, just once, DS got DD up without us waking up.

Not sure about the photos, will have to look and see. Poor DS and poor you, sounds like he has got it pretty badly. DD wet the bed for the first time last night. And more annoyingly thought it was a huge joke. Dancing around the bedroom at 3.30am trying to get into her clean pjs.

Bozza · 08/01/2007 21:49

No the photo in the woods was DS with his godparents from a couple of years back. It is actually on the side of Grassmere.

turkEgyptlets · 10/01/2007 00:48

hello! sorry, not changed my name yet...

well we are here. dd is still asleep (840am) but didnt go to bed til 10pm so thats ok. slowly getting our body clocks back into shape.

flight was fine apart from first 4 hours of dd turning our lights on and off and on and off, going to the loo, the other loo, the first class loo, the disabled loo...u get the picture.. played with everything going, then finally dropped off about 11pm. slept for 6 hours or so then woke for breakfast.

we're in a serviced apartment until our stuff arrives in about 4 weeks time. dd spotted the pool from her bedroom window within minutes and was in it a few mins later. lovely little bar and playpark down there too. she's q excited about her new 'big girl's bed' and our new car. she thinks she's in her holiday house at the moment as didnt want her to think this was our new place then move again. only thing is i think she reckons we're going home afterwards. bless. havent had a 'i want to go to my house' since getting her in the apartment, but a few times on the plane. ahhh. so sad. i'm here with her on my own today as dh has gone to work for the whole day. very odd. we can walk to the mall as its joined to the apartment and of course go swimming so should be ok, but i am extrememly disappointed in the choice of tele!!! WANT cbeebies and itv/bbc. hmph.

glad u are all ok. good to see the carseat debate. have been thinking the same thing. is there one that has a 5 point harness that will also take normal seat belt a little later before it converts to just a booster seat?

Ponka · 10/01/2007 08:11

Egypt, the Britax Ultra evolva 123 does that. Having said that, you'll have a lot more options open to you, won't you? DD will definately be over 3 and possibly nearer 4 so I think that will open up a lot more opportunities.

It sounds like such a lovely place you are staying in. Glad the flight went O.K. For some reason, I had it in my head you were flying out in Feb.

Kbaby, how are you? Did you have a good 30th? What did you get up to? Do you feel any older? Mine's on 2nd March. I really don't want to be 30 but I know it won't actually make me feel much older. Well, nothing like having kids has done anyway!

Bozza · 10/01/2007 08:29

Oh you are young things. Wish I was still 30! Egypt glad it is going well overall, although it must be difficult and unsettling. I agree with ponka that it should be easier for you with the car seats because the new baby will not need DD's for another year or so. Once DD gets to the minimum weight (I think it is 33lb) I am going to put her into the next one. I think this will coincide with DS getting to the next weight for the cushion. He is 6 next month but might as well stay in the seat with the back until DD needs it. DD was 29lb last time she was weighed so maybe with all the Christmas sweeties she might have made 30lb. They really don't put on much weight at this age do they? I think DS is 46lb and he needs to be 48lb for the next seat.

Egypt · 10/01/2007 15:06

think dd is about 25 lbs. do they have to be 33lbs? i was thinking about the next one because she has been in the neighbours one and although it is a 5 point harness she is more upright and likes it better. she has also been in their other child's with the normal car seatbelt and loved that but dont want to get it obv until it is safe for her. she tends to get out of her shoulder straps too. well, going ok at the mo cos i told her a story about a little girl who took her arms out and fell out and hit her head on the window and went to hospital. seems to have worked, although she likes the story so much she wants to have it at bedtime every day again and again....

thanks for remembering my bday ponka!

Bozza · 10/01/2007 21:35

I think it is 33lbs if just using the car seat belt. And I must admit I have put DD in DS's seat a couple of times for short journeys in order to free up her seat for a younger child. But she should be OK from whenever in a booster with the straps. DD will probably be in one by next winter because of the sheer difficulty of putting her in one with all her layers on. I'm so fed up with it that I went out in the sales and bought her a non-padded coat. 25lbs sounds quite petite because DD is not that big (still not in 2-3 clothes).

I have agreed with DS that he can have a "football-themed" party. ie all the boys can come in football strip, he can have a football cake (square and green icing) etc. He started on with "well I will have to invite X because he has a Y kit and..." etc. I got rather alarmed at both the numbers and some of the children he was saying so when he was in the bath I went through "who is your best friend, who is your second best friend" which is the sort of thing he enjoys anyway.

DD has now decided that she wants to have a birthday tomorrow. She is also after some Disney Princess roller skates she has seen in Toys r us. Not convinced about them myself....

Ponka · 12/01/2007 12:34

Have you seen, Bozza? You've got a mention on Morningpaper's round up news this week regarding the "What little things does your man do to really irritate you" thread I have to say, I saw it at the time and did find it very funny.

kbaby · 12/01/2007 16:45

Hi- still around but mainly on the postnatal 06 thread as even though I have dd I seem to have forgotten what having a baby is like. Plus dh is limiting my mumsnet time.
Ponka- we get the same re questions, everything ends in for ie
dd-Wheres the snake going
me-Hes going in his house
dd-Whats he going in his house for
me-Because that?s where he lives
dd-What does he live for
me- Ummm everybody lives

going to attempt potty training again on Monday.

Hello Egypt- hope things are going ok.

My 30th went like a normal day as when I told dh not to spend any money as we cant afford it he actually thought I meant it, so all I got was a card. I didn?t even get a lie in or balloons. needless to say he was in my bad books.
Im glad that your dds are about the same weight as dd. She is 32lbs but looks sooo skinny and none of her clothes stay up. I thought she was underweight.

Bozza · 12/01/2007 22:13

ooh fame. I will have to have a look. kbaby I think DD is skinny. She still has quite a belly but over that her ribs are showing through and she is still in 18-24 clothes in general. I think we need Judd to come on and tell us about her DS who as I remember was always a big chap.

Bozza · 12/01/2007 22:17

Can't find it. If I can't get hold of it ponka will you e-mail it to me? I will see if DH has put it in deleted items first.

pepperrabbit · 13/01/2007 19:54

Hello everyone! I know, you're all looking around thinking who is this woman? is she on our thread?? ahem. Happy New Year etc. Sorry been AWOL, Dh has been working loony hours involving the PC and No Time For Me.
Egypt, glad you ahve arrived safely and it's all kind of OK, must be so difficult helping DD adjust while getting used to it yourself as well, Happy Birthday kbaby, can't believe you're so young!!! Makes me feel like an old dear, I'll be 38 on 6th Feb - I have no idea how this happened as I'm sure I'm actually 28, a sneaky decade has flown by.
We're all fine here, no progress on the potty training - still hysterical at the word potty let alone the actual thing. I have persuaded DS1 to sit on the loo to impress DS2 which has worked. Currently bribing him with the offer of a Whole KitKat if he does a wee on the loo.
DS2 has just started crawling so all hell has let loose here with DS1 very unhappy re chewed jigsaw pieces etc. and he's very attracted to all the computer wires which has been extremely unpopular with DH.
Promise to be around more soon, hope everyone keeps well!

Egypt · 14/01/2007 16:37

hello all. middle of night here and just been up for an hour with dd. she is going to bed ok at reasonable time but waking in the night for an hour or more, just not tired. i do know how she feels, its kind of affecting me that way too, but v annnoying esp as she starts preschool on tues and we need to be up!

think i must have made u all think that i had a waif of a daughter. think i said she was 24lbs. on second thoughts i'm q sure she is 30lb. we've only just had our medical so thats bad of me to forget, but i think i remember reading the scales to the doc and saying 2 stone 6 - so 30 lbs then! she does look a little chubber though. really squishy in the face but fairly normal in the body. big boned maybe.

on the lookout for a really nippy, light buggy with carseat for baby. got rid of our urban detour deluxe with extra warm padded fur features! want a cheapy one really as i think as soon as the baby has outgrown the carseat i'll just use the maclaren. any ideas anyone?

Egypt · 14/01/2007 16:39

oh no. 2 stone six is....34 lbs isnt it? surely she cant be that? hmmmmm

Ponka · 14/01/2007 19:18

Yes, no problem.

Bozza · 14/01/2007 22:02

I see no reason why she can't be 34lbs. My nephew is and he isn't even 2 yet. I think that would be a perfectly normal weight for this age. It's just DD and kbaby's DD that are diddy. My friend's DD is 3 on Weds and she is a lot heavier than DD. She is coming round to play in the morning so I might weigh her. I am naughty - don't want DD to get weight issues.

Ponka can you send it to me on liz dot b26 at hotmail dot co dot uk. Thank you! Not that I have pretensions to fame or anything.

Actually I am on my second large g&t. But having spent over 5 hours at two seperate children's birthday parties today it is virtually medicinal.

Judd · 14/01/2007 22:22

Hello! Happy New Year! Don't seem to have been around for yinks..have lurked a bit, but I just spotted this in active convos (thoguht I should search for it, but couldn't quite get up the energy ).
Am having an enforced break from MN as I decide what to do. I have stumbled across a familiar poster - my sister! Positive it is her and so I think I'll have to name change but it's the whole being arsed factor again. Must do it though or I'll be forever looking over my virtual shoulder.
Car seats - DS has been in the next stage up (ie. not the seat with sides from 6 months, the one that plugs into the normal seatbelt) for about 3 months now. He could get his arms out of the younger one and so is safer in the new one. Now that they have the same seat, though, they argue about whose side of the car is whose and drive me MAD. Luckily, DS usually leaves bits of manky banana etc. in the cup holder, so if I show DD that, she hotfoots it round to the other side I think DS is 3 stone-ish so 42lbs? Have given up caring whether that is lots/little whatever. He looks gorgeous! He started pre-school on Monday and had a fab time (so did I incidentally! First time in 5 years sans enfants).
I had a job interview during the week - a day out in Fancy London! It was an admin job for the Greenbelt Festival that could be done flexibly at home during daytime, evenings and weekends. Would have been lovely to get (for cash and the experience and use of brainpower) but I didn't. Was in final 3 though. Just with DS starting pre-school, I can see DH offering me out to tender pretty soon. Have to move quickly to avoid detection!

Bozza · 14/01/2007 22:35

Give us a clue. Who is she?

I'm onlyh bothered about DD because I am so sick of trying to get her into the car seats. I am quite used to the fact that 2-3 clothes fall down on her, and the top of the wardrobe is stuffed with stuff that she has been bought but which need to wait until next year. Do you not carry him much Judd. DS weighs about 46lb and he is so heavy, but also big it is virtually impossible. But he is nearly 6.
