Yay great news spotty.

Glad you had a good time Chloe, mines this weekend Sad Shock

J was only 7lb 4oz at birth and people would tell me he looked more like a 5lb baby. He's very long but stayed curled up for ages so you couldn't tell and he has my small head not DP's giant noggin. He is strong and very alert though. He would lift his head up to Look at you if you laid him on your chest as early as a couple of days. I thought I'd really miss the just born stage as i loved it so much, but this smiley, giggly reactive stage is so lovely too. must not get broody again so soon

WLmum · 04/03/2013 21:31

Yep, although I'm sad about the newborn bit, I honestly have loved all the stages of my dds lives and do look forward to her sitting/eating/crawling and so on. Two sides as always!

halesball · 04/03/2013 21:42

Great news Spotty Grin

Hope the teething isn't to stressful for you both Honey.

Eqi i feel like that. H has just grown and grown. Shes the 98th centile for height and the 91st for weight she looks more like a 6 month old than a 3 month old. We're even going out tomorrow to buy size 4 nappies Hmm

WLmum · 04/03/2013 22:10

Yes chloe I wondered about a growth spurt.

Glad to hear all well spotty, that must have been a worry.

Saphiesgirl · 04/03/2013 22:22

Equimum- I'm with you on having a large baby. I felt cheated out of a tiny, but then I try to remind myself that she's thriving.
Seymore- thanks for your understanding, it was very stressful. Trying not to panic at slightest thing, good job she's my second I've a better experience to measure things by! Hope your first has recovered well?

HoneyMumandSon · 04/03/2013 23:31

Ok, on Saturday night D had an explosive poo all over me, the changing table and a bit of floor next to the table (nappy off at the time) which I cleared up. I thought that was all. Tonight I was putting stiff seat and found w splatter of poo down the wall 2.5 metres away. How the hell did he do that?

Chloe55 · 05/03/2013 02:24

Grinhoney

WLmum · 05/03/2013 02:48

And night feeds are back! Thought it was too good to be true!

SeymoreInOz · 05/03/2013 03:55

Me too, I feel a bit cheated out of a newborn. DS was diddy for all of 7 days before he started to balloon. I haven't had him weighed for a while, but he was 16lb at 9 weeks. At the postnatal group the other mums had their babies curled up on their laps, not me!

saphies DS1 was actually our second but I still went a bit loopy after he'd been so poorly. I even took him to the out of hours GP in the middle of the night once because his eczema had flared up! Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 04:11

Ok so ds went down at 7:45 he started waking at 11:30 (chewing his hand) so I got him up and fed him. He was loudly sucking his thumb again by two but I left him to it and u fell asleep. I've just woken up and he's still doing it. Would he be crying if he's hungry? It's been nearly five hours. I'm really confused I don't know if I should just feed him? He can't be sleeping properly? Confused

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 04:18

So I'm feeding him now because he made a couple of cries but I'm thinking I've just been feeding him every night when actually he was quite happy noisily sucking his fingers/thumb

MaMaPo · 05/03/2013 04:32

Time to experiment Spotty? Babies aren't great at suppressing their needs - I guess if he needs feeding, you'll find out! This could be the start of something amazing!

It can be tricky, judging the feeding time. Sometimes I want to get to her early before she wakes up too much, but then I run the risk if feeding a happily sleeping (albeit slightly roused) baby.

A pretty good night here - down at half eight, I can't to bed at 10, husband did feed at 12.30 and then she was up at 4.15. First night in a week that I didn't do the late night feed and boy, could I feel it!

Annoying - she only fed for 10 mins then posseted a couple of mouthfuls. Not long until next feed then....

SeymoreInOz · 05/03/2013 04:58

Wow spotty that's great. I only feed DS when he's starting to cry out, he does make a lot of noise sucking his hands in between. He's usually down for the evening around 6:30, he next wakes for a feed at about 10:30 and then it's all over the place after that but recently it's been 1am, 4am, 5am and 6am!! At 1 and 4 he's ravenous, after 4am he's just straining to poo! I don't think I'm going to get any sleep until he starts solids.

Chloe55 · 05/03/2013 06:40

spotty I could have written your post. Dd fed at 12 then 2 then she woke at 3.45 but just huffy and puffy noises (when I'd normally pull her in to feed before she fully wakes) but I just didn't have the energy-must have fallen back to sleep, heard the same noises at 4.45 but thought I'd see what happened if I left her then it was 5.45 when she started making a real fuss for feeding so that was nearly 4hrs Shock. I still woke more than usual but hoping if I continue this experiment she might even stop the rousing every hour or two?

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 07:00

Lets experiment then Chloe! See how we get on.... He's still asleep now Smile

WLmum · 05/03/2013 07:33

spotty and chloe I know it's really hard when they wake you with their noisy sucking or shifting about but I would definitely wait until they cry for a feed. It may well be that they are just in a light sleep phase and resettling themselves - don't want to interfere with that! As mama said, you'll know if they need feeding - they won't settle for hands if they're hungry!

SpottyTeacakes · 05/03/2013 07:38

Thanks everyone wish us luck tonight. That was five hours last night!y poor left boob went eight I've had to feed him now just for the relief!

Chloe55 · 05/03/2013 07:38

Yeah dd never really has to cry for food as I am always there before she gets to that point. Thing is, if I'd have fed her when she stirred, like spotty said I'm sure she would have slept better afterwards but maybe its just a learning curve for both of us and she might not stir in a few night's time, or if she does she won't associate it with food.

Secondsop · 05/03/2013 07:39

spotty and chloe at the start I was really worried about leaving Z to sleep as he'd had such weight gain difficulties but then I thought I'd try it and see how his next weigh in went, and he did fine. Give it a go.

Green poo update: today's was (according to my husband who changed him) more yellowy with greeny bits in it. So maybe he just had a little upset for a couple of days.

Chloe55 · 05/03/2013 07:40

Oh and another thing, she used to poo literally every nappy change, I was probably changing 8 pooey nap pies a day at least, now its more like 4 Grin Grin Grin

EggsMichelle · 05/03/2013 08:33

Mamapo f was born on his due date 6th December, so not wonder weeks, but there is definitely similarity in their development.

F was grunting and hand sucking at 1.30, but we both went back to sleep until 2.20, so worth not responding until they cry (that sounds terrible!)

I love a good poosplotions (I'm known as The Poo Nurse at work) F always seems happier than ever after a poo!

ISpyPlumPie · 05/03/2013 08:44

Well, the good news is that the Practice Nurse offered to do the boys' jabs on separate days so that I'm not single-handedly trying to comfort them both. The bad news is that this means DS1's are this morning. Wish me luck!

MaMaPo · 05/03/2013 09:03

Good luck ispy! I hate jab day.

Good night last night - just 2 feeds at around midnight and 4, then up for the day at 7.15. Just had almighty battle trying to get her back to sleep now though. I wish someone knew why babies fight so much. She's literally almost throwing herself out of my arms. Finally calmed down and is lightly asleep but still loads of fidgeting.

Learn to nap, C!
